Method of obtaining methane

Abstract

The invention relates to the field of organic chemistry, in particular to a method for obtaining methane in the presence of a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis catalyst containing cobalt-manganese. The claimed method is carried out in the following stages: a gaseous mixture containing hydrogen and carbon dioxide is brought into contact with a supported methane synthesis catalyst, the supported methane synthesis catalyst containing, on an elemental basis, from 2 wt. % to 20 wt. % cobalt and from 0.5 wt. % to 15 wt. % manganese, while the gaseous mixture contains no more than 5% carbon monoxide by mass.
