Method for quantification of hydroquinone content in vinyl acetate monomer using uv spectrophotometer

Abstract

This invention discloses a kind of method for quantification of Hydroquinone (HQ) Content in vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) using UV-Vis Spectrophotometer at λmax 293 nm. HQ is essential element as inhibitor for eliminating the risk of selfpolymerization of VAM which also ensure the stability of VAM during storage and transportation as well as assurance of a proper polymerization reaction of VAM. This invention describes a simple, cheap, time-saving, and easy method by which the HQ content in VAM can be measured quickly based on the measurement of UVVis absorbance of the HQ content at 293 nm using methanol as a blank. No color development is required for this quantification process, and the HQ content in the VAM can be measured directly without any further processing. The limit of detection, limit of quantification, linearity range, accuracy, precision, robustness, and measurement uncertainty of this method is measured and analyzed and found to be within the acceptable limit and range.
