Degradable oriented polymer products

Abstract

There is provided a degradable oriented film or twine comprising: (a) polypropylene and / or polyethylene; (b) one or more transition metal compounds in a total amount of from 0.03 to 0.6wt%, based on the total weight of the degradable oriented film or twine, (c) one or more non-coordinated, saturated or unsaturated C14-C24 carboxylic acid or an ester, anhydride or amide thereof, in a total amount of from 0.01 to 0.6wt%, based on the total weight of the degradable oriented film or twine; (d) a rubber in an amount of from 0.02 to 0.65wt%, based on the total weight of the degradable oriented film or twine; (e) an antioxidant stabilizer composition in an amount of from 0.001 to 0.48 wt%, based on the total weight of the degradable oriented film or twine; wherein the one or more transition metal compounds comprises iron, manganese, copper, cobalt or cerium, and wherein the antioxidant stabiliser composition comprises a non-phenolic antioxidant and, optionally, an acid scavenger, and is free from phenolic antioxidants.
