Partially aerobic fed-batch fermentation system, the system comprising: a low-pressure vessel; a recirculation loop, connected to the low-pressure vessel, comprising: one or more inlet pipes, provided in the vessel, configured to recirculate fluid in the vessel and prevent vortex formation in the vessel; an aeration system, comprising an inline diffuser provided in the recirculation loop; a feed system, and a process control system, whereby, during operation, the partially aerobic batch fermentation system is configured for the production of biological material.
