Abstract

1 / 16 METHOD FOR ACTIVATING AND CONTROLLING THE THERMAL MONITORING SYSTEM INSTALLED IN FOOD TRANSPORTATION EQUIPMENT TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[001] This invention patent relates to a method for activating and controlling a thermal monitoring system for temperature variation of heating installed in means of transporting food, i.e., beverages and similar items, hereinafter referred to simply as 'food', with on-demand delivery via software request, through an application which, notably, belongs to the technological field for remote activation and management of the thermal monitoring maintenance functions of heating and temperature control mounted in means of transporting ready-made food such as thermal backpacks, boxes, trunks, 'bags' located (or not) in various vehicles such as bicycles, motorcycles, cars, vans, trucks, among others, where one or more compartments of these means of transport may have heating means such as electrical resistors, electromagnetic induction devices and others.

[002] The innovative method is performed by a software / application for communication, management and exchange of information between the activation system of the means of heating ready-made food, which are conventionally placed in the various means of transport and the conventional applications of one or more delivery companies that use delivery drivers equipped with mobile phones or similar devices, which remain in the possession of the delivery driver equipped with the means of transport, for example, a thermal backpack, trunk or others.

[003] The software by which the method of the present invention is performed can be understood as a set of processor-readable instructions, through which, when performed by a processor, the method of the present invention is carried out.

[004] The innovative method performed by “software” is based on receiving information that the food is in the compartment of the means of transport and the activation of the desired heating is authorized remotely, as well as the maintenance of the food's heating throughout the journey and the obtaining and exchange of data relating to the food's temperature and travel time is carried out full-time from the moment the food is picked up at the POS (Point-of-Sale) until it is delivered to the consumer. [005] The innovative method ensures that heating is activated only by the company contracting the use of this technology associated with heating means installed in the means of transport, such as, for example, the heating solution provided for in document no. BR1020190135492, from the same applicants, so that it may benefit from the operation of the thermal monitoring and food quality management system in each delivery. HISTORY OF THE INVENTION

[006] The food delivery system continues to grow steadily for several reasons, such as demographic expansion in urbanized regions, the increasing participation of women in the labor market and, especially in current times, due to social isolation and 'home-office' work justified by the predictability of the Covid-19 pandemic, where through the food delivery system, consumers continue to meet their gastronomic needs, associated with the fact that restaurants, snack bars and bars maintain their operation and profitability.

[007] In general, food delivery systems operate based on applications installed on mobile phones or other suitable devices such as Android, iPhone (iOS), and Windows Phone, where, through accessibility, it is possible to consult a list of restaurants, snack bars, and bars near the consumer's location and their respective products and prices. When the consumer completes an order, the food is prepared by the establishment, picked up, and delivered by the establishment's own delivery person or a delivery company to the location pre-determined on the application platform. Generally, the food is transported in thermal backpacks and / or containers.

[008] In parallel, in another application commonly used in the market, delivery drivers, after registering with personal data on the platform and obtaining credentials, are able to carry out deliveries, allowing for the ease of autonomous profitability that can be performed simultaneously for more than one delivery app company, which, in turn, have systems that control the driver's route, delivery time, as well as manage requests and service completion.

[009] It is also known that the current transport systems used, especially for food delivery, do not guarantee that the food reaches the Petition 870230083766, dated 09 / 21 / 2023, page 16 / 61 3 / 16 locations determined by consumers, with the same temperature, texture, and quality as those from restaurants.

[010] In view of this gap, the applicants are depositors of document no. BR 1020190135492 which deals with means of heating food, more specifically heating by electromagnetic induction to be applied in thermal 'Means of Transport' of hot and / or cold food of the type delivered by the 'delivery' system, such as bags, backpacks, boxes, trunks, food transport carts, vehicles, 'pass-throughs', among others, responsible for storing and transporting ready-to-eat foods such as pizzas, savory snacks, esfihas, meats, cakes, among others.The heating medium comprises a thermal structure for electromagnetic induction heating installed in the internal parts of the means of transport and which is activated by one or more metal plate(s) installed in the internal and / or external parts of the food packaging, more precisely in the receptacles of said packaging; the juxtaposition or proximity of the packaging with the metal plate(s) in the heating medium located in the means of transport provides pre-heating and / or heating and / or cooking of the food located in said packaging by induction thereof, thus enabling the maintenance of the temperature and quality of the food and / or the partial and / or complete cooking of the food during transport to the final destination and / or at the food production site, as well as at the place where it will be served and consumed.

[011] However, the vast majority of delivery drivers are self-employed professionals and work for more than one delivery company and often use the backpack of one delivery company to fulfill orders from customers of another delivery company, obviously aiming to increase their earnings.

[012] Similarly, current delivery company platforms do not provide means to control the use of the means of transporting food, nor do they control the average temperature during the journey of the transported food and the peak temperature, nor do they inform the consumer or the delivery person of such measurements. [013] Research conducted in specialized databases revealed documents relating to the method of activating and controlling the heating system of Petition 870230083766, dated 09 / 21 / 2023, page 17 / 61 4 / 16 food used as a means of transport for delivery via application requests, as presented in document no. The container may also have a transceiver configured to wirelessly communicate with a remote electronic device.

[014] Document No. CN107668890 (CHENGDU J. AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY MFG CO LTD.) describes a lunchbox with a heating function that includes a lid, an inner container, a casing, a wireless charging device, a heating device, and a mobile app; the lid and casing are attached, the inner container is placed in the casing, and the casing is a cavity structure. A heating device is placed in the cavity. The wireless charging device is connected to the heating device to provide power. The heating device is connected to a mobile app. The mobile app sets parameters such as heating time and temperature.The operating process comprises: first, setting the heating time and temperature via the mobile phone app and sending the set time and temperature to the single-chip MPS430; heating via the carbon-resistant heating plate and passing the temperature. The detection module detects the temperature in real time. When the temperature is too high, the single-chip MPS430 controls the automatic shutdown protection switch to protect against power failure and prevent errors caused by excessive temperature. [015] The aforementioned documents present food packaging with activation and temperature control performed via an 'APP', however, not Petition 870230083766, dated 09 / 21 / 2023, page 18 / 61 5 / 16 integrate the activation / control method of a food heating system used in a means of transport for delivery via applications aimed at the 'delivery' market, differentiating itself from the present invention in question, as will be seen below, thus ensuring that it fully meets the legal requirements for patentability. OBJECTIVES OF THE INVENTION

[016] It is an objective of the present invention to present a method of activation and control of the thermal monitoring system, in particular, heating variations, installed in a means of transporting food with on-demand delivery via application request where, notably, said means of transport may be of the type bag, backpack, box, trunk, thermal container, bag, food transport carts located (or not) in various vehicles such as bicycles, motorcycles, automobiles, vans, trucks, among others and the heating system which, in a preferred version, comprises heating means formed by one or more electrical resistances, electromagnetic induction heating devices or related devices, which will be activated, managed, controlled, monitored and will exchange information with the application of the “delivery” company, by means of the method now innovated.

[017] Another objective of this invention is that the method for activating and controlling the thermal monitoring system integrates an application to perform the aforementioned communication, management, and exchange of information between the food heating means installed in the means of transport in order to interconnect companies of on-demand food delivery systems based on conventional “applications” of the contracting company(ies) of the “backpack” with the heating means, such as electric resistances, electromagnetic induction, and others, thus aiming for the present method to be an integral element of the entire existing delivery system, but acting as an indispensable element to allow the management, control, and maintenance of the heating system function, in addition to obtaining constant data regarding the temperature at which the food is kept heated during the travel time between collection at the establishment and delivery to the consumer.

[018] Another objective of this invention is to provide a method of activation and control Petition 870230083766, dated 09 / 21 / 2023, page 19 / 61 6 / 16 of the heating system installed in food transport vehicles with on-demand delivery via app request, which ensures the activation of the heating elements installed in the backpack, trunk, or other means of transport only by the company(ies) contracting the use of this technology, allowing said company(ies) to benefit from the operation of the remote activation and control system of the heating device, i.e., allowing the food delivered by said company(ies) to be delivered very close to the temperature at which it left the restaurant / establishment, guaranteeing the quality management of the food in each delivery.

[019] Thus, other delivery companies served by the same delivery drivers and which do not have access to the thermal monitoring system control method of the present invention will have their food delivered in the conventional way, that is, it will be picked up at the establishments / restaurants and delivered to the consumer without maintaining the heat during the journey, and may, as is usual, arrive at lower temperatures or even considered cold, depending on the distance. This may occur because the heating method is only activated if that food is being delivered by the delivery company that adopts the method performed by the software of the present invention.

[020] It is also the objective of this invention to present a method for activating and controlling the thermal monitoring system, especially the heating system, installed in a food transport vehicle with on-demand delivery via application request, where the transfer of data relating to the internal temperature of the transport vehicle, travel time and other variables of each delivery to the contracting company's application enables: i) Improved logistical management of the operation; ii) Sending messages to the delivery person with instructions on the best use of the vehicle with a heating system; iii) Providing information to the consumer indicating the temperature at which the food arrived at the pre-determined location, as well as the temperature throughout the entire delivery process; iv) Control and management of food temperature and quality by the delivery company; Petition 870230083766, dated 09 / 21 / 2023, page 20 / 61 7 / 16 (v) Control and management over the time the delivery person left the door of the vehicle open, such as the box / backpack, or other actions that can be corrected to improve the consumer experience in consuming heated food; vi) Internal battery charge information for the backpack. [021] To complement the present description in order to obtain a better understanding of the characteristics of the present invention and in accordance with a preferred practical embodiment thereof, figures are attached to the description, where, in an exemplary, though not limiting, manner, the following is represented: Figure 1 represents a diagram of the activation and control method of the thermal monitoring system, specifically for heating, installed in a means of transporting heated food with on-demand delivery via application request; Figure 2 shows a flowchart of the basic activation steps of the present method for activating and controlling the thermal monitoring system; Figure 3 refers to a general flowchart of the main functions of the activation and control method of the thermal monitoring system embedded in the conventional on-demand food ordering application; Figure 4 shows a schematic circuit of the thermal monitoring system applied in each compartment of the transport vehicle, considering that the transport vehicle has three compartments, each equipped with a heating device and a corresponding sensor for the presence of the food product to be transported, which, in this case, is indicated as "Pizza", but is not limited to this type of product; Figure 5 illustrates a flowchart outlining the steps performed by the thermal monitoring method in a heating medium, which, as an example, refers to an electromagnetic induction device that must be activated by the software performing this method to keep the food warm; and Figure 6 illustrates, as an example, a block diagram of the communication between the usual printed circuit board, with a microcontroller of the ESP32 type or other, installed in a specific compartment in the means of transport, along with appropriate batteries, this board having the function of interface between the heating element of the backpack / trunk or other and the mobile device (smartphone or other) of Petition 870230083766, dated 09 / 21 / 2023, page 21 / 61 8 / 16 possession of the delivery person, thus allowing the mobile device signal to remotely activate the heating system when food is present, as well as receive temperature and other information from the heating system and the means of transport in question. DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[022] With reference to the illustrated drawings, more precisely with reference to figure 1, the thermal transport means (MT) are such as bags, backpacks, boxes, trunks, carts for transporting food located on vehicles such as bicycles, motorcycles, cars, vans, trucks, among others. The activation systems (STA) comprise: printed circuit board (PL1) and corresponding batteries (40) of the heating means (20) which use, for example, one or more electrical resistors, one or more electromagnetic induction devices or other heating means installed on one or more shelves and / or compartments (PC), equipped with corresponding presence sensors (30).On such shelves and / or compartments (PC), food (AL1) is arranged to be delivered on demand and via delivery by delivery personnel (ET) equipped with mobile devices (50) such as smartphones or others, when requested through an application (APP1) of a delivery company (EA1), such as iFood®, UberEats®, Rappi® and others.

[023] According to the present invention, said thermal monitoring method (10) integrates a “software” (ST) comprising a set of processor-readable instructions (ST) which, when executed, performs communication, management and exchange of information (C1) between the activation system (STA) of the food heating means (20) installed in the various means of transport (MT) and the conventional applications (APP1) of one or more delivery companies (EA1).

[024] The “software” (ST) or the processor-readable instruction set (ST) that performs communication, management and information exchange (C1) of the thermal monitoring method (10) involving the activation system (STA) of the food heating media (AL1) stored in transport media (MT) comprises innovative steps associated with conventional steps of the delivery company(ies) (EA1) applications (APP1). In a preferred solution developed for maintaining food heating, the steps of the heating method (10) associated with conventional applications (APP1) are as follows: Petition 870230083766, dated 09 / 21 / 2023, page 22 / 61 9 / 16 - Stage (a) (conventional): User (U1) uses an application (APP1) from a delivery company (EA1) to order food (AL1); - Step (b) (conventional): The application (APP1) transmits the user's (U1) order to a restaurant / establishment (R1) chosen by the user (U1); - Step (c) (conventional): The application (APP1) will entrust and assign the delivery of the food (AL1) to a chosen / registered delivery person (ET), who in turn is equipped with their mobile device (50); - Step (d) (conventional): The delivery person (ET), upon collecting the food (AL1) to be transported, informs the delivery company (EA1), via the app (APP1), that they are starting the delivery service; - Step (e) The delivery company's application (APP1) (EA1) activates the software (ST) or processor-readable instruction set (ST) which, automatically, through the delivery person's (ET) mobile device (50), sends a command (11) to the printed circuit board (PL1) which activates the activation system (STA) of the heating medium(s) (20) related to the presence sensor (30) where the food (AL1) is located in the transport medium (MT); said command (11) may be via Bluetooth signal or other information exchange technology, including radio frequency and other control systems; - Step (f) During the delivery route, the temperature (T1) of each compartment (PC) or of each food item (AL1) is monitored by means of temperature gauges (TM), such as thermocouples (TM), conductors (TM), thermometers (TM) or others that provide information (12), via 'bluetooth' or other technology, to the mobile device (50) of the delivery person (ET) which, via application (APP1), allows the software (ST) or the processor-readable instruction set (ST) to provide the management and control of the temperature (T1) of the heating medium (20), ensuring the quality of the food during delivery, informing the temperature measurement (T1) to the application (APP1) which, in turn, transfers such information to the user (U1), as well as informing the delivery person (ET) of the battery charge of the activation system (STA) of the means of transport.Other usual information, such as route (T2) or estimated delivery time (T3), continues to be managed by the application (APP1), as usual. - Step (g) With the removal of food (AL1) from compartment (PC), the sensor of Petition 870230083766, dated 09 / 21 / 2023, page 23 / 61 10 / 16 presence (30) sends a signal to the printed circuit board (PL1) to deactivate the heating medium (20) of the corresponding compartment (PC), then sending a service termination signal in the application (APP1) causing, simultaneously, the software (ST) or the processor-readable instruction set (ST) to provide the information, also through the application (APP1) to the delivery company about the final temperature (T1) and the delivery time of the food (AL1) at its destination.

[025] Conversely, still observing figure 1, if the User (U2) chooses to select a food (AL2) through an application (APP2) of a delivery company (EA2) that does not have the software (ST) or the processor-readable instruction set (ST), even if the same delivery person (ET) has a means of transport (MT) with the heating system (MAD), the heating device (20) will not be activated, and thus said food (AL2) may be transported and delivered under the usual conditions currently, i.e., with route information (T2) and estimated delivery time (T3), but arriving at its final destination at a low temperature or even considered cold for the type of food.

[026] The software (ST) or processor-readable instruction set (ST) of the present invention operating in the application(s) (APP1) of the authorized delivery company(ies) (EA1) has the following functions, as shown in Figure 2: (100) - User accesses delivery company application (APP1) (EA1) to order food (AL1) from an establishment / restaurant; (101) - the question is whether the delivery company (EA1) is a user of the heating system using the software (ST) or the processor-readable instruction set (ST) that performs the method of the present invention; (102) - otherwise, the software (ST) or the processor-readable instruction set (ST) does not activate the heating system, allowing the order to proceed in standard / usual market mode; (103) - if yes, the delivery company (EA1) is authorized to activate the heating system and the software (ST) or the processor-readable instruction set (ST) starts operation integrated with the application (APP1) which, in turn, sends communication to the network of registered delivery drivers (ET), receiving a response from at least one of them equipped with the means of transport (MT) with the activation system (STA) and means of Petition 870230083766, dated 09 / 21 / 2023, page 24 / 61 11 / 16 heating (20) installed; (104) - next, the question is asked: was the signal transmitted to the delivery person’s (ET) mobile device (50)?; (105) - if the signal has not reached the delivery person’s (ET) mobile device (50), such signal is sent again; (106) - if the signal arrives at the mobile device (50) of the delivery person (ET), the mobile device (50) of the delivery person (ET) receives the signal to send a command (11) to the activation system (STA) - printed circuit board (PL1) - of the means of transport (MT) and thus, the sensor is activated; (107) - the question is: did the presence sensor (30) recognize the food that was inserted into the backpack (AL1) in the compartment (PC) of the authorized delivery person’s (ET) means of transport?; (108) - if not - wait for the food (AL1) to be positioned for recognition by the corresponding presence sensor (30); (109) - if yes - the presence sensor (30) activates the heating medium (20) of the corresponding compartment (PC); (110) and (111) - the temperature control means (TM) of the heating device (20) installed in the corresponding compartment (PC) of the means of transport (MT) is activated throughout the journey, sending temperature monitoring information (12) via Bluetooth or other technology to the application (APP1) which, in turn, automatically sends it to the food delivery company (EA1), which can inform the user (U1), also through the application (APP1), about the temperature (T1) at which the food (AL1) is being maintained during the journey until final delivery; The plate (PL1) provides the delivery person with information about the battery charge (40) that integrates the activation system (STA) of the means of transport (MT); this information can be displayed on a screen or can be a communication signal via Bluetooth or other technology; (112) - Next, the question is asked: was the food (AL1) delivered to the user (U1)? [027] The software (ST) or the processor-readable instruction set (ST) can also monitor other parameters once activated: i) Time the delivery person (ET) left the transport vehicle (MT) cover open; ii) Energy consumption of the batteries (40) provided in the means of transport (MT) for powering the heating device (20) and issuing alerts when the battery (40) needs to be replaced; iii) Indication of the quantity of food (AL1) placed in the means of transport (MT) during a given period of use, as well as the arrangement on which shelves they were placed to guide the delivery person (ET) in the best use of the compartments; iv) Control the ranking of delivery drivers (DT) who best use the method (10) and indicate the delivery drivers (DT) who should be guided or trained to better use the system, in order to guarantee the quality of the food delivered.

[028] The authorization and management of the activation system (STA) executed by the “software (ST) or the processor-readable instruction set (ST) in relation to the heating medium(s) (20) installed in the transport medium (MT) is established based on user (U1) requests through the application (APP1) of the authorized delivery company. If the delivery person (ET) uses the transport medium (MT) to transport food (AL2) originating from an application (APP2) of another delivery company (EA2) that is not authorized to use the “software” (ST) or the processor-readable instruction set (ST), the activation system (STA) of the transport medium (MT) will not be activated.

METHOD OF ACTIVATION AND CONTROL OF THE THERMAL MONITORING SYSTEM INSTALLED IN FOOD TRANSPORTATION, comprising the steps of: (a) contact by the user (U1) with the application (APP1) of a delivery company (EA1) to request food (AL1); (b) transmission of the user's order (U1) to the restaurant (R1), through the application (APP1); (c) assigning, through the application (APP1), the delivery of the food (AL1) to a delivery person (ET) equipped with a mobile device (50); (d) informing, through the application (APP1), the delivery company (EA1) that the delivery person (ET) has started the delivery process; (e) triggering the set of instructions readable by a processor (ST), through the application (APP1) of the delivery company (EA1); (f) monitor the temperature (T1) of each compartment (PC) or of each food item (AL1) during the delivery route;monitored by means of temperature gauges (TM) that provide information (12) to the mobile device (50) of the delivery person (ET) which, via application (APP1), allows the set of instructions readable by processor (ST) to provide the management and control of the temperature (T1) of the heating medium (20), informing the temperature measurement (T1) to the application (APP1) which, in turn, transfers such information to the user (U1), as well as informing the delivery person (ET) of the battery charge of the activation system (STA) of the means of transport;characterized by the fact that: step (e) of triggering the processor-readable instruction set (ST), by the delivery company's application (APP1) (EA1), comprises that the delivery company's application (APP1) (EA1), automatically, through the delivery person's mobile device (50) (ET), sends a command (11) to the printed circuit board (PL1) that activates the activation system (STA) of the heating medium(s) (20) related to the presence sensor (30) where the food (AL1) is located in the transport medium (MT);and the method further comprises the step of: (g) sending a signal, via the presence sensor (30), after the food (AL1) is removed from the compartment (PC), so that the printed circuit board (PL1) deactivates the heating medium (20) of the corresponding compartment (PC), then sending a service termination signal in the application (APP1) so that, simultaneously, the processor-readable instruction set (ST) provides the information, also via the application (APP1), to the delivery company about the final temperature (T1) and the delivery time of the food (AL1) at its destination.; 2. METHOD, according to claim 2, characterized in that the command (11) is by means of a Bluetooth or radio frequency signal.

3. METHOD, according to claim 1, characterized in that the temperature (T1) of each heating device (20) corresponds to the temperature of the food (AL1) positioned in the compartment (PC) equipped with heating medium (20) and temperature monitoring medium (TM) (T1).

METHOD, according to claim 3, characterized in that the temperature (T1) is transmitted (12) via Bluetooth or other technology to the application (APP1) on the delivery person's (ET) mobile phone, which in turn automatically sends it to the food delivery company (EA1), which can then pass on the temperature information (T1) to the user (U1), also through the application (APP1).

5. METHOD, according to claim 1, characterized in that the processor-readable instruction set (ST) monitors the time the delivery person (ET) left the transport medium (MT) cover open.
