Description

1 / 4 CUT COLUMN JACKETING EQUIPMENT Field of the Invention

[0001] The present invention relates to the area of oil well exploration and drilling; more specifically, operations on drill strings. Description of the State of the Art

[0002] In the current state of the art, a TSR sleeve is typically used without seals. The TSR sleeve consists of a larger diameter tubular tube equipped with elastomeric rings inside, encasing a mandrel (TSR - Tubing Seal Receptacle) with a polished surface positioned at the top of the lower completion. The combination of elastomeric rings and the polished surface of the mandrel provides the necessary seal for that purpose. The TSR assembly (sleeve and mandrel) forms the coupling between the lower and upper completions. However, the use of such a component in this specific application may result in problems during installation or subsequent operations through the interior of the tubing due to a lack of dimensional customization.Additionally, the component incorporates features that are unnecessary for the intended use, such as sealing, and it lacks geometric features that would allow for the separation of remaining annular components, such as PDG cables and chemical injection lines.

[0003] Document CN210660019U deals with a removable suspended packer for snubbing operations in production lines. The packer has a body, which has a pair of rubber cylinders provided with a protective ring.

[0004] Document US10844682B2 discloses a workover tool for cutting a production column.

[0005] Document CN105735934B discloses a cup-type packer, comprising an upper joint and a central tube firmly connected to the inner wall of the lower end of the upper joint, wherein that upper joint has a sliding sleeve with an annular projection and a guide groove on the outer side of the lower end of the upper joint.

[0006] Prior art reveals devices used in production strings. However, none of them are capable of minimizing the risk of remaining pieces of annular components during cutting in cases of well interventions where complete removal of the string is not possible or advisable. Petition 870260077749, dated 04 / 08 / 2026, page 38 / 57 2 / 4

[0007] Given the difficulties present in the State of the Art cited above, and for column sheathing solutions, the need arises to develop a technology capable of performing effectively and that is in accordance with environmental and safety guidelines. The documents referenced here do not possess the unique characteristics that will be presented in detail below, which aim not only to minimize difficulties in sheathing, but also to allow a sufficiently adequate and centralized coupling, in order to minimize difficulties in future tool passages through the interior of the column. Objective of the invention

[0008] It is an object of the invention to make it possible to jacket a cut production string in cases of well interventions where it is not possible or advisable to remove the entire string. Brief Description of the Invention

[0009] The present invention relates to a production string component intended for sheathing a cut production string in cases of well interventions where complete removal of the string is not possible or advisable.

[0010] Considering the market solutions available until then, a non-customized dimensionally sleeve guide could be adopted (TSR assembly sleeve); however, without functionalities that would minimize the risks of the sleeve operation or subsequent operations through the interior of the column.

[0011] Thus, the development of equipment in two size options was proposed, intended for sheathing 4.5 and 5.5 in OD production columns. Its design minimizes the risk of remaining pieces of annular components (PDG cables, injection lines, etc.) hindering sheathing, allows the removal of remaining burrs from the cut end, and offers almost perfect facing, avoiding internal protrusions that could hinder future interventions on cable, wire and flexible tubing from inside the column. Brief Description of the Drawings

[0012] The present invention will be described in more detail below, with reference to the attached figures which, in a schematic and non-limiting way of the inventive scope, represent examples of its embodiment. The drawings show: Figure 1 illustrates the components of the jacketing equipment; Petition 870260077749, dated 04 / 08 / 2026, page 39 / 57 3 / 4 Figure 2 illustrates a detailed description of the main features and functionalities; Figure 3 illustrates a detail of the top sub's characteristics. Detailed Description of the Invention

[0013] Below is a detailed description of a preferred embodiment of the present invention, which is exemplary and in no way limiting. Nevertheless, it will become clear to a person skilled in the art, from reading this description, possible additional embodiments of the present invention, which are further comprised of the essential and optional features described below.

[0014] The equipment proposed here is divided into four components (Figure 1): 1. Guide (1): lower element (on the left in the drawing) constructed of carbon steel and equipped with a claw to facilitate sleeve insertion with rotation. It also has a transition reducing the internal diameter towards the over-guide; 2. Over-guide (2): positioned just above the guide, and can also optionally be constructed of low-alloy steel. It culminates in the reduction of the diameter in a zone with surface hardening using tungsten carbide; 3. Body (3): constructed of the same metallurgy as the casing. It has identical upper and lower connections to allow the assembly to be reassembled without it, should the situation require it. Its length is approximately 50 cm. The body (4) can optionally be removed if the mechanical conditions of the well require the use of a shorter component. This is the reason why the upper and lower connections of the body must necessarily be identical. 4. Top Sub (4): interfaces with the column connection and reproduces its internal diameter without discontinuity. It is responsible for the final adjustment in the jacketing. It has a gradual transition of internal diameter reduction, culminating in an almost perfect facing between the cut end and the upper section. It must have the metallurgy of the column or higher. Its jacketed section is approximately 40 cm.

[0015] All connections between components are low-torque connections equipped with locking screws.

[0016] The guide (1), lower component, has a “nail” geometry (1.1) similar to overshot guides (a tool for tubular fishing). It comes in two outer diameter options, 8 %” and 8 %”, depending on the diameter of the liner passage. Petition 870260077749, dated 04 / 08 / 2026, pp. 40 / 57 4 / 4 of production (approximately 8.5” or 9”, respectively). Its internal diameter begins by not allowing a radius deviation greater than 6 mm in relation to the jacketed pipe, in order to prevent the entry of cable ends and cut lines. At its top there is a transition zone (1.2) with a reduction in the internal diameter. Its outer wall has longitudinal recesses to facilitate the passage of fluid during the lowering maneuver (or subsequent removal). However, these recesses have a limited depth, so as not to allow the entry of the remaining annular components.

[0017] The internal diameter culminates in its smallest value in the second component (over-guide) and in this there is a zone with a hardened tungsten carbide coating (2.1), in order to allow the removal of burrs remaining on the cut end of the tube.

[0018] The body (3) is just an extension. Its function is to allow a greater range between the start and full sleeving, providing clearer indications during the operation that sleeving has occurred without restrictions. However, it can be removed if operating conditions indicate difficulty in sleeving. The body (3) has identical upper and lower connections (the upper connection being a box and the lower a pin).

[0019] In the top sub (4) there is a further diameter reduction transition (4.1), culminating in a diameter only 1.4 mm larger than the jacketed tube (4.5 or 5.5 in). The inner diameter of the top sub (4) is compatible with the inner diameter of the production string, so as not to allow protrusions that hinder the passage of cable, wire or flexible tubing tools.

[0020] Figure 3 details further the characteristics of the top sub (4): Reduction of the internal diameter (4.2) to 1.4 mm greater than the external diameter of the jacketed tube, a slight recess (4.3) to allow for the accommodation of any remaining burrs, and a facing (4.4) between the jacketed tube and the top sub, with a maximum misalignment corresponding to a clearance of 1.4 mm.

[0021] In its upper part (4.5) the standard production column connection can be machined, the most common connections being: 41Λ” VAM TOP (13.5 lb / ft) and 51Λ” VAM TOP HC (23 lb / ft). Petition 870260077749, dated 04 / 08 / 2026, page 41 / 57
