Description

DOUBLE AND MULTI-FENESTRATED DRAIN INTRODUCTION

[01] This application refers to a patent application for a DOUBLE AND MULTIPLE-FENERTED DRAIN, made of various materials, such as non-toxic latex, vinyl (silicone) or nitrile. This drain is designed with specific dimensions that guarantee the desired technical effect, allowing for the effective drainage of secretions in postoperative treatments. It is important to emphasize that any alteration to the dimensions proposed in this application would compromise not only the technical effect, but also the functionality of the device compared to the state of the art. FIELD OF APPLICATION

[02] The double polyfenetrated drain is from the hospital materials segment, used in postoperative treatments. CONVINCING

[03] Equipment and materials from various sectors, especially mechanical and civil construction, are designed with specific measurements that guarantee their functionality. However, there is a margin of tolerance in these measurements that allows for the proper operation of the devices. In contrast, the patent application in question refers to a material from the hospital sector, where precision is even more critical.

[04] Hospital equipment and materials, especially those intended for surgical applications, are developed with technical rigor, where each measure is carefully planned to ensure effectiveness. The precision in the dimensions of these materials is fundamental for their proper functioning. The proposed drain, although not resembling the state of the art, follows this same logic of precision, presenting specific measurements that ensure its functionality.

[05] The double drain in question consists of a blanket defined by a tube, which has, at one of its ends, a cylindrical bag with four equidistant and longitudinal holes. This configuration provides an innovative technical effect, allowing it, when inserted into the human body, especially into the abdominal cavity, Petition 870250008409, dated 01 / 31 / 2025, page 5 / 20 2 / 7 the accumulation of secretions is expelled spontaneously, without the need for aspiration or suction.

[06] In addition, the double drain has two tubes of identical dimensions, which, at one of their ends, have equidistant holes arranged longitudinally. When the tube is inserted into the blanket, the holes align perfectly with those at the end of the cylindrical bag, further optimizing its functionality.

[07] This double drain, with its unique design and dimensions, is considered the only abdominal cavity drain that can be flushed and changed without the need for a new surgical procedure. It is especially effective in treating small and medium-sized fistulas, as well as intra-abdominal abscesses, standing out as a significant innovation in the field of medical drainage. FROM THE CURRENT STATE OF THE ART

[08] The state of the art regarding the subject under analysis encompasses a significant diversity of drains used in clinical procedures, with the Penrose drain being one of the best known and most widely used. However, when examining the technical characteristics presented in this project, it becomes evident that none of the drains available on the market meet the innovative specifications proposed in the patent application. The Penrose drain, despite its popularity and frequent application in various medical situations, has some limitations that compromise its effectiveness. Among these deficiencies, the need for periodic replacement stands out, which can result in interruptions in treatment and a potential risk of infections. In addition, this type of drain is not able to prevent the formation of fibrin deposits in the drainage area, which can lead to additional complications. Finally, it is important to emphasize that the insertion of a Penrose drain requires a surgical incision, which can increase the patient's recovery time and the risks associated with the procedure. Therefore, the search for alternatives that overcome these limitations is fundamental for advancements in the field of medical drainage.

[09] In searches of patent documents carried out on search sites, a patent document was located. Petition 870250008409, dated 01 / 31 / 2025, page 6 / 20 3 / 7

[10] DOCUMENT: MU9000301-2 - PUBLICATION DATE: 01 / 11 / 2011 - DOUBLE AND POLYFENESTRATED DRAIN, this Utility Model Patent refers to a double tube, polyfenestrated at its posterior end, equipped with its own cover, or just the 02 double tubes, and intended to drain secretion originating from postoperative treatments or collections. The present invention basically consists of two flexible, parallel plastic tubes equipped with a large number of holes along an extreme front strip and point joints at their posterior end and at intervals throughout their length. The said tubes are further encased in a thinner, diameter-sized tube that allows the tubes to fit loosely inside. This tube also has numerous holes along its front edge and may optionally be fitted with a closure at its front end. Furthermore, it is slightly shorter than the tubes and is fixed to them at its rear end. The operation of the present invention is quite simple and proceeds as follows: it is introduced into the patient through a small incision as close and straight as possible to the area to be drained; the front part with the holes comes into contact with the area to be drained; one of the tubes is connected at its rear to a vacuum pump in order to aspirate the secretion or is simply aspirated using syringes. The purpose of the other tube is to maintain atmospheric pressure at the site to be drained, thus ensuring that the area remains completely free of secretion and allowing for full aspiration of the secretion without the drain becoming clogged or obstructed by surrounding structures.

[11] The double drain mentioned in the patent document located on the search site is distinct from the Penrose drain, which serves as an example of the current state of the art. Furthermore, this double drain in the patent document is different from the double drain proposed in this patent application, presenting characteristics that make it unique in its functionality, and which will be compared and discussed below.

[12] The double drain of Patent Letter document MU9000301-2 is robust, has a single-size body, described as a tube, which at one end has a weld closure and is applied through a plurality of small holes. At the opposite end of the tube, two joined tubes are introduced, these tubes have Petition 870250008409, dated 01 / 31 / 2025, page 7 / 20 4 / 7 at its end, numerous small-diameter holes are present, similar to the holes in the tube. These holes in the tube and the tube are not properly aligned, as there is a distance between the tube and the holes in the tube due to the weld at the end of the tube. This reduces efficiency compared to the device proposed in this patent application, which does not have a weld at the end but rather a cylindrical pocket that allows adjustment of the tubes so that the holes are aligned with the holes in the blanket. The proposed patent application, combined with these constructive characteristics described above and its specific measurements, provides a new technical effect, resulting in spontaneous operation without the need for aspiration or suction. It is also worth noting that this drain proposed by the patent application can be washed or replaced without the need for a new surgical procedure. OF THE PROPOSED INVENTION

[13] The proposed invention relates to a double, multi-fenestrated drain, developed to optimize the drainage of secretions in postoperative treatments. This innovative device presents several technical advantages aimed at improving the patient experience and the effectiveness of the treatment.

[14] The drain structure is designed with a cylindrical bag that allows for precise alignment of the holes, resulting in more efficient drainage. Eliminating the weld at the end of the tube prevents obstruction problems and ensures a continuous flow of secretions.

[15] The drain functions spontaneously, eliminating the need for aspiration or suction, which simplifies its use and reduces dependence on medical equipment. This feature makes the recovery process more accessible and practical.

[16] In addition, the drain can be flushed or changed without the need for a new surgical procedure, providing greater comfort and convenience for patients and the medical team. This ease minimizes the invasiveness of the treatment, contributing to a faster recovery with fewer complications.

[17] With these innovations, the proposed double and polyfenetrated drain represents a significant advance in the field of medical devices, promoting a safer and more comfortable environment for recovering patients. Petition 870250008409, dated 01 / 31 / 2025, page 8 / 20 5 / 7 TECHNICAL ADVANTAGES OF THE PROPOSED INVENTION

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSED INVENTION

[21] The double and polyfenetrated drain (1) is an innovative device developed to optimize the drainage of secretions in postoperative treatments. Its main structure consists of a blanket (2) which, at one distal end, extends from a tube shape (3) and, at the opposite end, widens into a cylindrical bag (04). This cylindrical bag (4) has four holes (F2) arranged in a line (E) longitudinally (L) along the blanket (2), allowing efficient and continuous drainage of secretions.

[22] The double, multi-fenestrated drain (1) also contains a pair of tubes (5), which, at one end, have four holes (F2) arranged in a line (E) longitudinally (L). This pair of tubes (5) is introduced into the blanket (2), so that the end with the holes (F2) is housed inside the cylindrical bag (4). Thus, the four holes (F2) remain aligned internally with the four holes (F1) of the cylindrical bag (4) of the blanket (2). The double drain (1) can be inserted into the abdominal cavity or another surgical opening, more specifically into openings in abdominal abscesses or in Petition 870250008409, dated 01 / 31 / 2025, page 10 / 20 7 / 7 another part of the human body. Alternatively, it is possible to first insert the pair of tubes (5) into the cavity, and then introduce the blanket (2) through the distal end of the tube (3) into the pair of tubes (5), i.e., the pair of tubes (5) are sheathed by the blanket (2).

[23] The double drain (1) has specific measurements, in which the blanket (2) has a length (C) of 30cm and by the width (L1) the diameter is 7cm of the tube (3) at the distal end, this measurement being stretched according to the pair of tubes (5), which in turn has a width (L2) by the diameter of 5cm.

[24] According to the description of the double drain (1), composed of a pair of tubes (05), which can also be considered as cannulas, these tubes are encased by the blanket (2), which enables efficient drainage of the desired area. If necessary, the blanket (2) allows for effective washing of the drained bed. In addition, the double drain (1) can be replaced due to its constructive arrangement and two specific measures that facilitate this procedure.

[25] For your information, the double drain (1) is also referred to in the hospital market as a two-way drain.
