Description
/ 3 Motorcycle center stand chain tensioner Field of invention
[001] Suitable for all types of motorcycles that have a center stand, extending the basic function of keeping it immobile in an upright position, also making it a chain tensioner, taking advantage of the existing spring travel of said part. Fundamentals of the invention
[002] There is no similar model on the market attached to the center stand. Its functionality keeps the motorcycle chain taut, even when subjected to the common and expected expansion from use, preventing accidents caused by disengagement, breakage, or misalignment.
[003] The need for a CHAIN TENSIONER ATTACHABLE TO THE CENTER STAND OF A MOTORCYCLE became apparent when, during a motorcycle trip, the chain came loose due to its natural expansion, causing it to get stuck in the bolts that secure the sprocket, a circular piece with teeth on the edge, also known as the rear sprocket, locking it and thus creating an obvious risk of falling.
[004] Installing the tensioner on the center stand itself is a very efficient way to control chain expansion and wear; it is cheaper than chain tension or wear maintenance, or even replacement, which require professional intervention; it is more practical than a chain tensioner fixed to the motorcycle's rear swingarm, as its use is not affected by human interference, since the springs that support the stand extend or retract to a greater or lesser degree depending on chain wear; it does not require complex engineering for integration into any motorcycle that already has a center stand; it provides safety for the motorcyclist. [006] The tensioner consists of a round hollow nylon spacer, through which the chain will pass when the stand is retracted, fixed to the center stand by a hex bolt, self-locking nut.
[007] The installation on the Triumph Tiger 800 motorcycle, Year 2015, Model 2016, took advantage of the existing metal structure of the center stand, with a single hole being drilled. Examples of embodiments of the invention
[008] The model can be used on any motorcycle that has a center stand, using the original structure of the part, as in the example above, or by inserting a small metal surface, so that the MOTORCYCLE CENTER STAND ATTACHABLE CHAIN TENSIONER can be fixed, also varying in terms of the size of the hollow round nylon spacer, screw and nut.
[009] Existing chain tensioner models are fixed to the outer side of the motorcycle's rear swingarm, not to the center stand; they compromise the original aesthetics of the motorcycle; they have a laborious installation process with frequent maintenance; they use expensive and noisy components. Table 1 - Comparison between existing models on the market and the invention Existing Model Disadvantages Comparison with the Invention Tensioner fixed to the rear swingarm Laborious installation; frequent maintenance; affects the original aesthetics of the motorcycle The invention is integrated into the center stand, adjusting automatically as it wears Tensioner with metal pulley Expensive and noisy components; rapid pulley wear Uses simple and low-cost parts; less noise and maintenance Tensioner with manual screw adjustment Need for periodic manual adjustment; risk of play if not adjusted correctly Eliminates the need for frequent intervention, increasing safety and practicality Petition 870260000112, dated 02 / 01 / 2026, page 7 / 21
Claims
CLAIMS 1. A CHAIN TENSIONER ATTACHABLE TO THE MOTORCYCLE CENTER STAND, characterized by its installation on the motorcycle's original center stand, being a very efficient means of controlling chain expansion and wear; cheaper than chain tension or wear maintenance, or even its replacement, which depend on professional intervention; it is more practical than a chain tensioner fixed to the motorcycle's rear swingarm, as its use is not subject to human interference, since the springs that support the stand extend or retract to a greater or lesser degree depending on chain wear; it does not depend on complex engineering for integration into any motorcycle that already has a center stand; it provides safety to the motorcyclist; It consists of elements A (hollow nylon spacer), B (hexagonal screw) and C (self-locking nut), which may vary in size and type of material, and are fixed by means of a single hole in the central bracket or clamp, which is why the patent for the invention and utility model described above is being sought.
2. A CHAIN TENSIONER ATTACHABLE TO A MOTORCYCLE CENTER STAND, according to claim 1, aims to ensure the use of the motorcycle's own center stand as a means of tensioning the chain, characterized by the fact that the elements that make up the utility model are easily accessible and low cost, and can be made using round or elongated hollow nylon spacers, screws and nuts of any type and finish.
