[003] As if the degrading and impoverished conditions faced by homeless people were not enough, it has been observed that many of the public assistance shelters provided by the responsible managers leave much to be desired in several aspects of humane care, so much so that a significant number of homeless people prefer to remain in the open and abandoned to their own fate, in inhospitable and / or minimally protected places (under awnings, bridges, viaducts and the like; sidewalks, storefronts and various establishments, abandoned buildings, vacant lots, invaded areas, etc.).This greatly increases the risks and humiliating conditions to which these individuals are continuously exposed, negatively impacting the safety of passersby and nearby residents. Unfortunately, the concentration of homeless people tends to attract criminals, exploiters, drug addicts, traffickers, and those who take advantage of others' misfortune, generating filth, enormous concern, and social chaos. It causes constant conflicts and police incidents, disturbances of the peace, the flight of shopkeepers and merchants, and devaluation of real estate in the affected areas and surrounding neighborhoods, among other problems.

[007] In light of just some of the reported problems, and with the purpose of providing more dignified and humane care to the already extremely suffering individuals experiencing homelessness, notably so that they can spend the night, protect themselves from low temperatures, enjoy nighttime rest without fear, insecurity, worries, costs, or any unreasonable financial demands, as well as aiming to serve this population niche that is normally distrustful, unreceptive, and cautious regarding conventional social programs, the customized structural shelter presented here was conceived, designed, and developed.
