Description

1 / 51 Personal Hygiene Compositions - Cross-reference to Related Orders

[0001] This application claims the benefit of priority of U.S. Patent Application No. 63 / 493,475, filed March 31, 2023, entitled Personal Care Compositions, the contents of which are incorporated herein in full for all purposes. FOUNDATION

[0002] A tattoo is a body modification made by inserting ink into the skin or other areas. The tattooing process involves placing pigment into the skin. After the initial injection, the pigment is dispersed through a homogenized layer of the epidermis and upper dermis, and in both, the presence of extracellular matrix (extracellular matrix) continues to bind the pigment particles. The epidermis repairs the upper dermis, where the pigment penetrates just below the dermis / epidermis junction.

[0003] Although the pigment remains trapped within the fibroblasts, it can degrade over time in certain areas. SU

[0033] For illustrative purposes, the principles of the present invention are described by referencing various exemplary embodiments thereof. Although certain embodiments of the invention are specifically described herein, those skilled in the art will readily recognize that the same principles are equally applicable and may be employed in other embodiments of the present invention and disclosed herein. The terminology used in this document is for descriptive purposes and not for the purpose of application.

[0034] As used in this document and the accompanying claims, the singular forms “a / an” and “the” include plural references, unless the context clearly dictates otherwise. The singular form of any class of ingredients refers not only to one species, but also to “comprising,” “including,” and “having,” which may be used interchangeably. The term “include” should be interpreted as “including, but not limited to.”

[0035] As used throughout the document, ranges are used within the range. Any value within the range can be selected, specifically 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, as well as subranges such as 2-5, 3-5, 2-3, 2-4, 1-4, etc. Petition 870250084774, dated 09 / 19 / 2025, p. 24 / 82 8 / 51

Quantification of malondialdehyde (MDA) formed after UV irradiation or exposure to other forms of oxidative stress can be used as a measure of lipid peroxidation. This method has been used to measure oxidative stress. (See, for example, Alonso, C. (2009) An ex vivo methodology for evaluating lipid peroxidation in the stratum corneum. J. Photochem. Photobiol. [00110] The methods typically involve applying an effective amount of the personal hygiene composition to a patch of skin. The amount of personal hygiene composition applied to the skin can range from about 0.1 to about 5 grams per square inch of skin. In some cases, the amount of co 0.1 to about 3 grams / inch², about 0.1 to about 2 grams / inch², about 0.1 to about 1 gram / inch²; about 0.5 to about 3 grams / inch², about 0.5 to about 2 grams / inch², about 0.5 to about 1 gram / inch²; about 1 to about 3 grams / inch², about 1 to 2 grams / inch²; about 1.5 to about 3 grams / inch², about 1.5 to about 2 grams / inch², including any intervals or subintervals between them. The personal composition can be spread on the skin as instructed.

As is common, the skin can be wetted or rinsed with water before applying the personal hygiene product; this can be beneficial to enhance the effects of certain products.

[00114] Composition A of Example 1 was evaluated to determine if niacinamide would be rinsed off during use. A sample of Composition A was applied to 2-inch by 2-inch pieces of pig skin (provided by Animal Technologies) with the subcutaneous fat removed. For the rinsing procedure, the skin from the pig's back was rinsed off. Specifically, the pig's back skin was first moistened for five seconds. Then, 50 µL of Composition A was applied to the pig's back skin and rubbed in for 10 seconds. The pig's back skin was then left to rest for 90 seconds and then rinsed with water for 15 seconds. After allowing the skin to air dry for 5 minutes, a glass cup (3 cm in diameter) was applied to the skin surface. 3 mL of ethanol was poured out of the glass and then extracted into a labeled scintillation vial. This was repeated outside and HPLC vial. The samples were then run on the HPLC for niacinamide quantification.

[00115] An HPLC, namely an Agilent 1100 series HPLC with a UV-Vis detector, was used for the quantification of niacinamide. A millimeter (µm) was used. The mobile phase consisted of 90 / 10 acetonitrile / water, which was run at Petition 870250084774, dated 09 / 19 / 2025, pages 65 / 82 49 / 51 a flow rate of 1 ml / min. 20 uL of solution were injected. Niacinamide can be detected at 260 nm with a retention time of approximately 2.2 minutes.

[00116] The high water solubility of niacinamide suggests that most of it will be removed by water during the rinsing process. Therefore, to maximize the possibility of detecting niacinamide, the minimum amount of mobile phase solvent should be used to increase the concentration of niacinamide present.

[00117] HPLC analysis revealed a significant peak in the retention time of unexpectedly deposited niacin, calculated at 0.065 + / - 0.030 ug / cm2. Example 3

[00118] The AF compositions were evaluated to verify if the respective co-options were effective against tattoos. Specifically, each of the AF compositions was evaluated using antioxidants from the respective co-options for product application, and served co-ops were rinsed, dried, and exposed to oxidative stress. Lipids are then extracted using the cup cleaning method, and the amount of lipid peroxidation is evaluated using a malondialdehyde (MDA) lipid peroxidation kit (Millipore-Sigma).

[00119] A summary of the results is shown in FIG. 1. In FIG. 1, u Exe Petition 870250084774, dated 09 / 19 / 2025, pp. 66 / 82 50 / 51

[00121] Composition G of Example 4 was evaluated to verify whether the niacinamide would be rinsed away during use. Compositions G were evaluated according to the procedure described in Example 2. As observed above, most of it will be removed by water during the rinsing process. HPLC analysis, however, revealed a significant peak in the retention time of niacinamide, indicating that the niacinamide remained Petition 870250084774, dated 09 / 19 / 2025, pp. 67 / 82 51 / 51 unexpectedly after rinsing.
