Description
1 / 15 DISPENSER FOR DISPENSING A FLUID
[0001] This invention relates to a dispenser for dispensing a fluid, that is, a dispensing device applicable to the neck of a bottle to dispense the fluid contained in the bottle.
[0002] As is known, a dispenser is commonly used to dispense liquids, such as, for example, soap (or another product not explicitly mentioned below).
[0003] The liquid is contained in a bottle to which the dispenser is connected by suitable means of connection.
[0004] These fluid dispensing devices are located in the single-use products market, where there is increasing attention directed towards these sustainable solutions with low environmental impact.
[0005] In particular, a requirement for products in the so-called packaging sector, of which liquid dispensers are a part, is to limit the variety of raw materials used, possibly aiming for solutions that consist of a single type of material or, alternatively, materials belonging to the same family.
[0006] Currently, dispensers available on the market commonly comprise metal springs inserted into devices made primarily of materials belonging to the polymer family.
[0007] The devices available on the market that involve replacing the metal spring use elastic plastic components as an alternative, characterized by considerable dimensions and weight, that is, solutions that deviate both aesthetically and structurally and functionally from the common design of dispensers with metal springs.
[0008] Unfortunately, plastic springs currently available on the market tend to lose their elastic strength and reduce their return capacity if kept in constant compression (tension relaxation). Petition 870250089645, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, pp. 79 / 106 2 / 15
[0009] The technical objective of the invention is, therefore, to provide a dispenser for dispensing a fluid that has the capacity to overcome the disadvantages of the prior art.
[0010] The object of the invention is therefore to provide a dispenser for dispensing a fluid made entirely of materials that are easy to dispose of and then recyclable with all the packaging.
[0011] An additional objective of the solution is to provide a dispenser for dispensing fluid that is easily recyclable and has reduced dimensions and weight, while maintaining technical characteristics similar to traditional solutions with metal springs already available on the market.
[0012] An additional objective of the invention is to provide a dispenser for dispensing a fluid that has the ability to preserve the spring return capacity.
[0013] An additional objective of the invention is to provide a dispenser for dispensing fluid with greater reliability and better sealing characteristics, without negatively affecting production costs and allowing the repurposing of existing equipment already made for dispensers with metal springs.
[0014] In short, an additional objective of the invention is to provide a dispenser for dispensing a fluid that maintains all the functional and performance characteristics of traditional metal spring dispensers, both in terms of protecting and preserving the integrity of the packaging and its contents, and in terms of effectiveness and ease of use.
[0015] The stated technical purpose and specified objectives are substantially achieved by a dispenser for dispensing a fluid comprising the technical characteristics described in one or more of the appended claims. Dependent claims may correspond to possible embodiments of the invention.
[0016] The invention describes a dispenser for dispensing a fluid comprising a hollow containment body, which can be inserted into Petition 870250089645, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, pp. 80 / 106 3 / 15 a bottle, made of plastic material, and comprising an orifice for sucking fluid from the bottle.
[0017] According to one aspect of the invention, the dispenser comprises an annular nut that can be screwed onto the neck of the bottle.
[0018] Preferably, the ring nut comprises a shoulder, which covers and is associated with a flange of the containment body, and may also comprise a collar that extends below the shoulder, along the axis of the ring nut.
[0019] The dispenser comprises a sliding piston inside the containment body between a raised position and a lowered position.
[0020] The dispenser also comprises a hollow rod that slides axially inside the containment body and is associated below the piston.
[0021] According to one aspect of the invention, the dispenser comprises a retaining ring integrated into and inserted into the containment body.
[0022] The retaining ring houses and guides the hollow rod as it moves within the containment body.
[0023] Preferably, the retaining ring also defines a containment space between the retaining body and the hollow rod.
[0024] Preferably, the retaining ring is configured to guide the hollow rod, defining two possible positions called support: a first elevated operating position and a second non-operating or stopping position, further elevated relative to the first position.
[0025] According to one aspect of the invention, the dispenser comprises a deformable concertina-type element, which defines a return spring for the dispenser.
[0026] The deformable concertina-type element comprises a side wall extending between an upper portion and a lower portion. Petition 870250089645, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, pp. 81 / 106 4 / 15 of the deformable concertina-type element.
[0027] Preferably, the side wall is inserted into the containment space coaxially with the hollow rod.
[0028] Preferably, the upper portion of the side wall is in contact with a radial protrusion of the hollow rod, while its lower portion is in contact with a lower portion of the retaining ring.
[0029] The deformable concertina-type element is made of plastic material.
[0030] Advantageously, with a spring made of plastic (i.e., the concertina-type deformable element), the dispenser for dispensing a fluid is easily disposed of and then recyclable with all the packaging.
[0031] Advantageously, the plastic spring, with its reduced dimensions and limited weight, allows the general aesthetic and dimensional characteristics of the dispensers to be maintained, similar to traditional solutions with metal springs, already available on the market.
[0032] Advantageously, the particular shape of the concertina-type deformable element and the ring morphology also allow maintaining the same functional characteristics of a metal spring inside the dispenser.
[0033] According to another aspect of the invention, the dispenser comprises a dispensing head.
[0034] The dispensing head comprises a central portion connected to an upper portion of the hollow rod to control the actuation of the piston.
[0035] The dispensing head also comprises a nozzle designed to dispense the fluid contained in the bottle.
[0036] The dispensing head can be pressed by the user between a raised position, in which the side wall of the deformable concertina-type element is extended axially, and a lowered position, in which the side wall of the deformable concertina-type element is compressed axially. Petition 870250089645, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, pp. 82 / 106 5 / 15
[0037] The additional features and advantages of the invention are more evident in the following non-limiting description of a preferred non-exclusive embodiment of a dispenser for dispensing a fluid.
[0038] The description is presented below with reference to the accompanying figures, which are provided for illustrative purposes only, without restricting the scope of the invention, and in which: Figures 1A, 1B, 1C and 1D are schematic representations of a first embodiment of a dispenser according to the invention; Figures 2A, 2B, 2C and 2D are schematic representations of a second embodiment of a dispenser according to the invention.
[0039] With reference to the attached Figures, the number 1 indicates in its entirety a dispenser for dispensing a fluid which, for the sake of simplicity of description, will be referred to hereafter in this document as dispenser 1.
[0040] Dispenser 1 comprises a containment body 2 and an annular nut 9.
[0041] The ring nut 9, associated with the containment body 2, is configured to be threaded or can be threaded onto the bottle neck or coupled by means of a recess system.
[0042] The containment body 2 is hollow and can be inserted into a flask. The containment body 2 preferably has an axisymmetric shape and comprises an upper portion 2a and a lower portion 2b.
[0043] The upper portion 2a of the containment body 2 is open and allows the components that make up the dispenser 1 to be inserted into the hollow body 2.
[0044] In the lower portion 2b, the hollow body 2 comprises an orifice for drawing fluid from the flask. In other words, the liquid contained in the flask enters the containment body 2 through the orifice.
[0045] In the lower portion 2b, a valve 4 can be conveniently located, configured to open and close the orifice in a manner that will be described in more detail below. Petition 870250089645, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, pp. 83 / 106 6 / 15
[0046] According to one possible embodiment, valve 4 is substantially “cup-shaped” and comprises an upper cylindrical extension that guides movement, preventing jamming, and a spherical sealing surface, located on a corresponding conical surface of the containment body 2.
[0047] According to one possible embodiment, shown in Figures 2A-2B, valve 4 has a spherical shape and is made of plastic material.
[0048] The containment body 2 also has a central portion 2c that defines a dosing chamber 10 and a suction tube that draws the product to be dispensed near the bottom of the bottle.
[0049] Valve 4 rises when fluid flow passes through the suction tube and enters the dispensing chamber 10, thus allowing liquid to enter. During dispensing, due to pressure in the fluid, valve 4 lowers and returns to its position, sealing the lower portion 2b.
[0050] In other words, the sphere of plastic material hypothetically starts from a state of suspension, in which the valve is open, and only subsequently, during dispensing, does the valve close due to overpressure.
[0051] Preferably, but not necessarily, the containment body 2 has a substantially funnel-shaped geometry.
[0052] The three portions 2a, 2b and 2c mentioned above preferably differ in terms of their transverse dimensions, so as to define the funnel-shaped configuration of the containment body 2 mentioned above.
[0053] The dispenser 1 also comprises a hollow rod 3 that slides axially inside the containment body 2 between an elevated position and a lowered position.
[0054] The hollow rod 3 sliding axially inside the containment body 2 has a radial projection 5b at the top and one or more side windows 5a at the bottom. Petition 870250089645, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, pp. 84 / 106 7 / 15
[0055] The hollow rod 3 is designed to transfer, through its cavity, the liquid present into the interior of the dosing chamber 10. In particular, the hollow rod 3 comprises at least one window 5a (preferably, it comprises two, even more preferably opposite each other). The window 5a is configured to place in fluid communication the cavity of the hollow rod 3 with the interior of the containment body 2 and, in particular, with the dosing chamber 10 of the central portion 2c. Preferably, but not necessarily, the window 5a (or windows 5a) is made in the side wall of the hollow rod 3.
[0056] Preferably, but not necessarily, the end portion of the hollow rod 3 is closed, so that the liquid in the dosing chamber 10 can enter the rod cavity only through the window 5a.
[0057] According to one possible embodiment, the hollow rod 3 comprises a tip 5 engaged below the hollow rod 3 by means of a system of recesses.
[0058] Preferably, according to this embodiment, at least one window 5a that allows the passage of the product to be dispensed from the dosing chamber 10 of the central portion 2c of the containment body 2 is made at the tip 5 of the hollow rod 3.
[0059] Preferably, the hollow rod 3 is made of two or more modules, according to the requirements of the assembly lines. More preferably, the modules of the hollow rod 3 have versatile mounting orientation.
[0060] In other words, the hollow rod 3 can be made of two pieces or modules, according to a combined rod configuration with a lower tip. The tip 5, in turn, is equipped with a system of recesses that attach to the corresponding recesses of the rod. The recess system is dimensioned to allow assembly with loads that are not very high and compatible with the structural strength of the components, but which, at the same time, guarantee a high level of axial retention. Petition 870250089645, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, pp. 85 / 106 8 / 15
[0061] Advantageously, these hollow rod 3 designs result in greater reliability and better sealing characteristics, without negatively affecting production costs and allowing the recovery of existing equipment already made for dispensers with metal springs. In effect, by adopting technical solutions that allow quick and easy assembly processes, advantages are obtained in terms of hourly productivity and the energy required to produce the dispenser 1.
[0062] According to a further embodiment, the rod module may have a recess to which a tubular extension 15 can be rigidly attached.
[0063] The tubular extension 15 is integrally connected to the hollow rod 3 by means of interlocking profiles 15b made in said tubular extension 15.
[0064] The tubular extension 15, in addition to having the purpose of preparing a stop system, allows the axial mounting of finishing components, such as dispensers, without the need for complete operation of dispenser 1.
[0065] Advantageously, the tubular extension 15 allows for a faster assembly process if protective elements are used, such as clips.
[0066] The dispenser 1 also comprises a sliding piston 6 inside the containment body 2 between a raised position, where the volume of the dosing chamber 10 is at its maximum, and a lowered position, where the volume of the dosing chamber 10 is at its minimum.
[0067] The piston 6 comprises an outer surface designed to contact the inner wall of the dosing chamber 10 of the containment body 2 and an inner surface associated with the hollow rod 3, connected by a closed surface with a radial extension.
[0068] According to a possible embodiment of piston 6, the closed surface with radial extension has a reverse configuration, designed to reduce as much as possible the minimum volume that the chamber Petition 870250089645, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, pp. 86 / 106 9 / 15 dosage 10 adopts with piston 6 in the lowered position.
[0069] The hollow rod 3 is associated with the piston 6 and is configured to control the activation. In other words, the piston 6 is associated below the hollow rod 3, which is configured to move the piston 6 inside the dosing chamber 10 defined in the central portion 2c of the containment body 2.
[0070] The hollow rod 3 is therefore connected at the bottom, in a sliding manner, to the piston 6 to control the opening of the side windows 5a and selectively allow the passage of the fluid contained in the dosing chamber 10 of the containment body 2.
[0071] According to one possible embodiment, the tip 5 of the hollow rod 3 has a conical sealing surface and a wide lower extension designed to facilitate engagement with the piston 6.
[0072] The piston 6, controlled by the hollow rod 3, slides between the aforementioned raised position, in which the volume of the dosing chamber 10 is the largest, and the aforementioned lowered position, where the volume of the dosing chamber 10 is the smallest.
[0073] The piston 6 slides with a fluid-tight seal along the inner wall of the containment body 2.
[0074] The hollow rod 3 is at least partially sliding relative to the piston 6, such that the window 5a is occluded or released by mutual sliding between the hollow rod 3 and the piston 6.
[0075] When the lowering of the mobile unit comprising the hollow rod 3 and the piston 6 creates an overpressure inside the dosing chamber 10, the piston 6 rises, the cavity of the hollow rod 3 comes into fluid communication with the dosing chamber 10 through the side windows 5a and the fluid in the dosing chamber 10 rises along the hollow rod 3.
[0076] According to this configuration, valve 4 is lowered and occludes the aforementioned orifice due to overpressure in the dosing chamber 10.
[0077] When the elevation of the mobile unit comprising the Petition 870250089645, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, pp. 87 / 106 10 / 15 hollow rod 3 and piston 6 create negative pressure inside the dosing chamber 10, the piston 6 lowers, the cavity of the hollow rod 3 is not in fluid communication with the dosing chamber 10 and the fluid is sucked into the dosing chamber 10 from the containment body 2 from the bottle.
[0078] In this configuration, valve 4 rises, leaving the aforementioned orifice open, due to the negative pressure in the dosing chamber 10.
[0079] According to the dispenser 1 described in this invention, the sliding of the mobile unit composed of the hollow rod 3 and the piston 6 inside the containment body 2 occurs by opposing the action of a deformable concertina-type element 7, which defines a return spring of the dispenser 1, housed inside the containment space formed between the hollow rod 3 and the containment body 2.
[0080] The deformable concertina-type element 7, made of plastic, is positioned outside the dosing chamber 10 to minimize the risks of chemical compatibility problems.
[0081] The concertina-type deformable element 7 is made of plastic material and comprises a side wall 8 that extends between an upper portion and a lower portion of the concertina-type deformable element 7 and is designed to place the hollow rod 3 in an elevated position together with the piston 6.
[0082] Preferably, the upper portion of the deformable concertina-type element 7 is in contact with the radial protrusion 5b present in the upper part of the hollow rod 3.
[0083] Preferably, the concertina-type deformable element 7 is made in the form of a V-profile spring with helical and conical extension.
[0084] Advantageously, this morphology ensures a geometry that provides the necessary loads in the spaces allowed by a conventional dispenser 1.
[0085] Side wall 8 is inserted into the containment space, of Petition 870250089645, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, pp. 88 / 106 11 / 15 forms coaxially to the hollow rod 3 and with an upper portion in contact with the radial projection 5b of the hollow rod 3.
[0086] The upper portion of the side wall 8 of the concertina-type deformable element 7 may also comprise compensation passages aligned with, or which may be aligned with, corresponding passages to compensate for the radial protrusion 5b of the hollow rod 3, configured for air inlet or outlet of said concertina-type deformable element 7.
[0087] According to one possible embodiment, the concertina-type deformable element 7 comprises anti-unscrewing ribs in the lower portion.
[0088] Advantageously, the anti-unscrewing ribs allow for various ways of shaping the concertina-type deformable element 7, for example, blowing or unscrewing.
[0089] The dispenser 1 also comprises a retaining ring 14 integrated into the containment body 2 and inserted within it. In particular, the lower portion of the retaining ring 14 is in contact with the lower portion 8 of the deformable concertina-type element 7.
[0090] The containment body 2 is therefore closed at the top by the retaining ring 14, which is engaged inside the body by means of a system of recesses and anti-rotational ribs.
[0091] The retaining ring 14 is configured to guide the hollow rod 3 in its movement within the containment body 2.
[0092] The retaining ring 14 defines an upper limit for the dosing chamber 10. This upper limit prevents the piston 6 from exiting the dosing chamber 10 of the containment body 2.
[0093] In other words, the retaining ring 14 guides the hollow rod 3 and the piston 6 in their movement inside the containment body 2, also delimiting an upper containment space within the latter.
[0094] According to one possible modality, the ring of Petition 870250089645, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, pp. 89 / 106 12 / 15 retention 14 is configured to set an operational and a non-operational configuration for dispenser 1.
[0095] The term operational configuration means a configuration in which dispenser 1 can be activated and has the capacity to dispense the fluid extracted from the bottle.
[0096] The term “non-operational configuration” means a configuration in which dispenser 1 cannot be activated and therefore has no capacity to dispense fluid.
[0097] In other words, the retaining ring 14 is configured to guide the hollow rod 3 along the actuation stroke, and preferably defines two positions called the dispenser support positions 1: a first elevated operating position, in which the piston 6, at the end of the lifting stroke determined by the return of the concertina-type elastic element 7, is in contact with the lower portion of the retaining ring 14, and a second non-operating, or stopped, position, preferably obtained by the reciprocating rotation between the tubular extension 15 and the retaining ring 14 which determines the locking of the sliding parts, in which the hollow rod 3 is locked in an additionally elevated position relative to the first elevated operating position.
[0098] In other words, the first elevated operating position is at a height slightly lower than the second stopping position, in order to recover the relaxation effects of the concertina-type deformable element 7.
[0099] Preferably, but not necessarily, the piston 6 is housed in a tubular cavity of the retaining ring 14 provided with a recess such that the piston 6, in contact with said recess, limits the lifting stroke of the hollow rod 3 and defines a first elevated operating position lower than the second non-operating or stopping position.
[0100] In other words, the first operational position is obtained by means of appropriately positioned recesses in the lower portion of the Petition 870250089645, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, pp. 90 / 106 13 / 15 retaining ring 14, against which corresponding supports made in the piston 6 rest, to stop the lifting stroke of the piston.
[0101] Preferably, but not necessarily, the reciprocating rotation between the tubular extension 15 and the retaining ring 14, which determines the locking of the sliding parts, allows the additional elevation of the piston 6 and the hollow rod 3, thanks to a ramp 14a, preferably made with a protruding profile made on the inner surface of the retaining ring 14, to which suitable protrusions 15a made on the outer surface of the tubular extension 15 are fixed, sliding movable on the ramp 14a.
[0102] In other words, the second non-operational position is achieved by means of a rotation maneuver that determines the elevation of the hollow rod 3.
[0103] Preferably, the reciprocal rotation is facilitated by the support restriction of the protrusions 15a formed on the tubular extension 15 rigidly connected with the hollow rod 3, sliding movable on the ramp 14a made in the retaining ring 14. Preferably, the protrusions 15a made on the tubular extension 15 rest on the ramp 14a, made in the retaining ring.
[0104] Alternative configurations, such as illustrated in Figures 2A, 2B, 2C and 2D, may comprise a similar lifting mechanism, again made by a support restriction between suitably made sliding elements in one of the components integrated into the hollow rod 3 described below, and a suitable guide ramp 14a, again made in the retaining ring 14, and with appropriate morphology.
[0105] Advantageously, in the non-operational position, the deformable concertina-type elastic element 7 is less compressed than in the first elevated operational position. This limits the effects of relaxation due to the prolonged compression condition to which the deformable concertina-type elastic element 7 is subjected with the dispenser 1 stopped.
[0106] Designed to ensure coupling between the outer surface of the retaining ring 14 and the inner surface of the containment body 2, Petition 870250089645, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, pp. 91 / 106 14 / 15 the annular nut 9, according to one possible embodiment, may comprise a protrusion 11, which covers and is associated with a flange 2d of the containment body 2.
[0107] Preferably, the ring nut 9 is coupled to the containment body 2 and to the retaining ring 14, by means of a collar 11b, associated with the protrusion 11, preferably extending inside the retaining ring 14, in such a way that, once screwed onto the bottle, it prevents the removal of the retaining ring 14 and ensures a high level of retention.
[0108] Preferably, but not necessarily, the ring nut 9 has, on the shoulder 11, a tab 11a associated with the tubular extension 15 to create a fluid-tight seal that prevents or limits the entry of water if the dispenser 1 is exposed to an external water jet during use.
[0109] The dispenser 1 also comprises a dispensing head 13 with a central portion integrally connected to an upper portion of the hollow rod 3 to control the actuation of the piston 6 and a nozzle designed to dispense the fluid contained in the bottle.
[0110] The dispensing head 13 can be pressed by a user between a raised position, in which the side wall 8 of the deformable concertina-type element 7 is extended axially, and a lowered position, in which the side wall 8 is compressed axially.
[0111] In other words, the nozzle is placed in fluid communication with the central portion, which, in turn, is in fluid communication with the hollow stem 3 to dispense the fluid contained in the bottle when the dispensing head 13 is pressed by a user.
[0112] Preferably, in a configuration illustrated in Figures 2A, 2B, 2C and 2D, the dispensing head 13 comprises sliding movable protrusions 13a, supported on the ramp 14a of the retaining ring 14, forming the lifting mechanism described above.
[0113] Advantageously, dispenser 1 proves capable of overcoming the disadvantages of the prior art. Petition 870250089645, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, pp. 92 / 106 15 / 15
[0114] Advantageously, by providing a spring made of plastic, the dispenser 1 for dispensing a fluid is easily disposed of and then recyclable with all the packaging.
[0115] Advantageously, the plastic spring, with its reduced dimensions and limited weight, allows the general aesthetic and dimensional characteristics of the dispensers to be maintained, similar to traditional solutions with metal springs, already available on the market.
[0116] Advantageously, the plastic spring has the ability to maintain its return capacity over time.
[0117] Advantageously, the hollow stem 3 designs result in greater reliability and better sealing characteristics, without negatively affecting production costs and allowing the recovery of existing equipment already made for metal spring dispensers.
[0118] Advantageously, the interchangeable orientation modules with which the hollow rod 3 is made allow a reduction in production costs, provided by simple and quick assembly processes, with obvious advantages in terms of hourly productivity and the energy required for the production of the dispenser 1.
[0119] Advantageously, dispenser 1 for dispensing a fluid retains all the functional and performance characteristics of traditional metal spring dispensers, both in terms of protecting and preserving the integrity of the packaging and its contents, and in terms of effectiveness and ease of use.
