Description
1 / 35 NEW DISC DESIGN FOR A DISC DRYER Technical Field of the Invention
[001] The present invention relates to an improved disc for a disc dryer. Technical Background of the Invention
[002] Different types of drying techniques are described for drying materials containing water and the choice of drying techniques may depend, for example, on the industry, temperature requirements, volume, speed, application of the dried product or the sensitivity of the product to be dried.
[003] An interesting drying technique is the disc dryer, which includes several discs built around a rotor consisting of a hollow central shaft fitted with multiple discs, which during operation can be heated by steam. These steam-heated discs apply indirect heat over a very large area, in a compact design that quickly and effectively reduces the water content in the product.
[004] A disc dryer has proven to be an efficient piece of equipment for drying products from various industries, such as in the animal recycling industry for drying feathers, blood, bones or meat, etc.; for drying fishmeal; for drying products from the food, chemical or pharmaceutical industries; or from the environmental industry, for example, drying sludge.
[005] The dryer can be easily scaled for small and large production runs.
[006] One of the advantages of disc dryers can be the increased heated surface area and the ability to contact the product to be dried, in addition to the minimal space requirement. The drying method of a disc dryer is based on heat exchange between the product in contact with the discs, which are heated, for example, by the circulation of hot liquid or steam inside the discs.
[007] When using steam in the disc dryer, a system of Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 11 / 52 2 / 35 efficient purging can eliminate condensate inside the hollow rotor shaft, ensuring maximum efficiency.
[008] Although steam is the most preferred heat source, oils or other liquids can also be used to heat and cool products.
[009] During operation, the hot fluid medium or steam flows through the hollow shaft of the rotor and into the hollow discs and heats these discs so that the moisture in the material in the chamber (on the outside of the discs comprising the steam flow) resulting in the evaporation of water from the material that comes into contact with the hot surfaces of the discs.
[010] Therefore, the large surface area provided by disc dryers may account for effective heat exchange and effective drying capacity.
[011] One reason why disc dryers demonstrate good properties in relation to drying wet materials is the way they are constructed. The characteristics of such a disc dryer are that it consists of a stationary chamber, and that a rotor comprising a hollow shaft may be disposed within this chamber, with several hollow discs welded perpendicularly to the central tube of the rotor. The discs may have a parallel structure at the disc tip and an arc-shaped structure at the end fixed to the rotor.
[012] At the end of the discs, a wear ring can be installed to increase wear resistance and form a support for attaching the supports to the disc. The supports allow the attachment of a paddle to provide proper movement of the product during drying and towards the discharge outlet, and can prevent the material to be dried from accumulating between the discs.
[013] The palette according to the present invention may include a palette, a scraper and / or a shovel.
[014] There is a challenge with the current construction of discs: the Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 12 / 52 3 / 35 Applying a wear ring to the outer periphery of the disc can be problematic, time-consuming, and consume material, in addition to imposing a greater environmental impact.
[015] Therefore, an improved disc and rotor for a disc dryer, and an improved disc dryer as such, would be advantageous and, in particular, more efficient and / or reliable production of discs (and rotors comprising discs) would be advantageous, which would result in reduced cavity formation (openings); greater drying efficiency, easier and cheaper manufacturing, improved productivity, high or even higher wear resistance, better stress level and gentler on the environment, would be advantageous. [025] Yet another aspect of the present invention relates to a disc dryer comprising a rotor according to the present invention and / or a disc according to the present invention. Description of the Figures
[026] Figure 1 shows a disc (1) according to the prior art. The prior art disc (1) may have a first flange (2) and a second flange (3), wherein the first flange (2) may be positioned parallel, or substantially parallel, to the second flange (3). The first flange (2) and the second flange (3) comprise an outer periphery of the first flange (5a) and an outer periphery of the second flange (5b). A wear ring (16) is provided on the outer periphery of the first flange (5a) and on the outer periphery of the second flange (5b) to increase the wear resistance of the disc (1) during use.
[027] A support (4) is fixed to the wear ring (16) and the support (4) may be provided with a palette (17).
[028] The disc (1) comprises an outer periphery of the first flange and the second flange (5a / 5b) and an inner periphery of the first flange and the second flange (6a / 6b). The first flange (2) and the second flange (3), comprising an outer end of the first / second flange (7a / 7b) and an inner end of the first / second flange (8a / 8b), and the inner end of the first / second flange (8a / 8b), may comprise an arc shape (10a / 10b).
[029] On the outer periphery of the first flange and the second flange (5a / 5b), the first flange (2) and the second flange (3) are welded together by a first weld (14) and welded together with the wear ring (16).
[030] The disc (1) may comprise a cavity (11) and a Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 15 / 52 6 / 35 heating element (13) allowing, for example, the steam to move to provide a substantially equal or homogeneous temperature over the disc (1) during use.
[031] To improve the strength of the disc (1) and reduce the risk of cracking, the first and second flanges (2 / 3) of the discs can be held together by means of thrust bolts (18). The thrust bolts (18) can be made by welding holes on both sides of the disc (1) (both on the first flange (2) and on the second flange (3)).
[032] Figure 2 shows a subset (B) of the disc (1) of Figure 1 and shows a support (4) comprising a palette (17) fixed by means of fasteners (15). The support comprises a base piece (20) and a coupling piece (21), wherein the length of the base (L1) of the base piece (20) is the same as the length of the coupling (L2) of the coupling piece (21).
[033] The supports traditionally used in the state of the art are square or rectangular in shape with equal coupling length (L2) and coupling piece (21).
[034] The base length (L1) can be determined on a surface of the part (20) facing away from the coupling part (21), preferably in the longitudinal direction of the support length (4). The coupling length (L2) at the point of coupling of the pallets, preferably in the fastening means (15) for fastening the pallets to one or more supports (4), preferably in the longitudinal direction of the support length (4).
[035] The support (4) is fixed to the wear ring (16) by a second weld (19) on the outer periphery of the first flange (5a) and on the outer periphery of the second flange (5b) of the disc (1).
[036] Figure 3 shows a disc (1) according to the present invention. The disc (1) may have a first flange (2) and a second flange (3), wherein the first flange (2) may be positioned parallel, or substantially parallel, to the Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 16 / 52 7 / 35 second flange (3). A support (4) can be fixed directly to an outer periphery of the first flange (5a) and / or to an outer periphery of the second flange (5b). The support (4) can be provided with a palette (17).
[037] The disc (1) comprises an outer periphery of the first flange and the second flange (5a / 5b) and an inner periphery of the first flange and the second flange (6a / 6b). The first flange (2) and the second flange (3), comprising an outer end of the first / second flange (7a / 7b) and an inner end of the first / second flange (8a / 8b), and the inner end of the first / second flange (8a / 8b), may comprise an arc shape (10a / 10b).
[038] On the outer periphery of the first and second flanges (5a / 5b), the first flange (2) and the second flange (3) are welded together by a first weld (14). When performing the first weld (14), the depth of the first weld from the outer periphery of the first and second flanges (5a / 5b) can extend at least 5 mm towards the inner periphery of the first and second flanges (6a / 6b), resulting in a part with greater wear resistance (12), making it unnecessary to add an additional wear ring to the outer periphery of the disc (5a / 5b), since the disc (1) has sufficient wear resistance. The impact of temperature when performing the first weld (14) can cause the metal in an area of the first flange (2) and the second flange (3) to change structure, resulting in an outer end (7a / 7b) of the disc (1), resulting in greater wear resistance of the disc (1).
[039] The disc (1) may comprise a cavity (11) and a heating element (13) allowing, for example, steam to move in order to provide a substantially equal or homogeneous temperature over the disc (1) during use.
[040] To improve disc resistance (1) and reduce the Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 17 / 52 8 / 35 risk of crack formation, the first and second flanges (2 / 3) of the discs can be held together by means of thrust bolts (18). The thrust bolts (18) can be made by welding holes on both sides of the disc (1) (both on the first flange (2) and on the second flange (3).
[041] Figure 4 shows a subset (A) of the disc (1) of Figure 3 and shows a support (4) comprising a palette (17) fixed by means of a fastener (15). The support comprises a base piece (20) and a coupling piece (21), wherein the length of the base (L1) of the base piece (20) is the same as the length of the coupling (L2) of the coupling piece (21).
[042] The supports (4) comprise a base piece (20) and a coupling piece (21), wherein the length of the base (L1) of the base piece (20) is greater than the length of the coupling (L2) of the coupling piece (21).
[043] The base length (L1) can be determined on a surface of the part (20) facing away from the coupling part (21), preferably in the longitudinal direction of the support length (4). The coupling length (L2) at the point of coupling of the pallets, preferably in the fixing means (15) for fixing the pallets (17) to one or more supports (4), preferably in the longitudinal direction of the support length (4).
[044] The base piece (20) and the coupling piece (21) are connected by at least one inclined side (22).
[045] The support (4) according to the present invention comprises two protrusions (24) on the base piece (20) in relation to the coupling piece (21) of the support (4), preferably in the longitudinal direction of the length of the support (4). The support (4) according to the present invention is provided with rounded corners (25) of the coupling piece (21), to facilitate installation, replacement and substitution.
[046] The base piece (20) is provided with two legs (23) Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 18 / 52 9 / 35 pointing from the base piece (20) and away from the coupling piece (21) to improve the second welding (19) between the support (4) and the outer periphery of the first flange (5a) and the outer periphery of the second flange (5b).
[047] The support (4) comprises a base surface (26) of the base piece (20), and the base surface is oriented away from the coupling piece and the base surface is spherical to improve the fit with the outer periphery of the first flange (5a) and the outer periphery of the second flange (5b) and with the first weld (14) between the outer periphery of the first flange (5a) and the outer periphery of the second flange (5b).
[048] By attaching the support (4) to the disc (1), the space provided between the base surface (26) and the outer periphery of the first flange (5a) and the outer periphery of the second flange (5b) by the legs (23) can improve the second welding (not shown in figure 4).
[049] Figure 5a shows a disk (1) and Figure 5b shows a subset (C) of the disk (1) of Figure 5a and shows a cross-sectional view of half of the disk (1) (the other part may be similar); and Figure 5c shows a subset (D) of the outer part of the disk (1) of Figure 5a and Figure 5b, and shows a cross-sectional view of the outer part of the disk (1).
[050] The disc (1) and subassemblies (C) and (D) comprise a first flange (2) and a second flange (3), wherein the first flange (2) may be placed parallel or substantially parallel to the second flange (3). The disc (1) comprises an outer periphery of the first flange and the second flange (5a / 5b) and an inner periphery of the first flange and the second flange (6a / 6b). The first flange (2) and the second flange (3) comprise an outer end of the first / second flange (7a / 7b) and an inner end of the first / second flange (8a / 8b), and the inner end of the first / second flange Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 19 / 52 10 / 35 (8a / 8b), may comprise an arched shape (10a / 10b). A support (4) is fixed to the outer periphery of the first flange and the second flange (5a / 5b).
[051] On the outer periphery of the disc (5a / 5b), the first flange (2) and the second flange (3) are welded together by a first weld (14), with the part of the first weld positioned closer to the outer periphery (14a). Preferably, the part of the first weld (14a) can be positioned closer to the outer periphery of the disc, preferably in alignment with, or substantially in alignment with, the outer periphery of the first flange (5a) and the outer periphery of the second flange (5b). To properly fix the support (4) to the disc (1), one or more second welds (19) can be provided.
[052] When making the first weld (14), the size of the first weld (14) may be sufficiently large (preferably 5 mm or more, extending from the outer periphery of the first and second flanges (5a / 5b)) to improve the wear resistance of the disc (1). In addition, the impact of temperature may cause the metal of an area of the first flange (2) and the second flange (3) to change structure, causing this outer end of the disc to result in a part with improved wear (12), making it unnecessary to add an additional wear ring to the outer periphery of the disc (5a / 5b), since the disc (1) comprises sufficient wear resistance.
[053] Figure 6 shows a plan view of a support (4) according to the present invention and Figure 7 shows a perspective view of a support (4) according to the present invention. The supports (4) illustrated in Figures 6 and 7 comprise a base piece (20) and a coupling piece (21), wherein the length of the base (L1) of the base piece (20) is greater than the length of the coupling (L2) of the coupling piece (21).
[054] The base length (L1) can be determined in a Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 20 / 52 11 / 35 surface of part (20) facing away from the coupling part (21), preferably in the longitudinal direction of the support length (4). The coupling length (L2) at the point of coupling of the pallets, preferably in the fixing means (15) for fixing the pallets to one or more supports (4), preferably in the longitudinal direction of the support length (4).
[055] The base piece (20) and the coupling piece (21) are connected by at least one inclined side (22).
[056] The support (4) according to the present invention comprises two protrusions (24) on the base piece (20) in relation to the coupling piece (21) of the support (4), preferably in the longitudinal direction of the length of the support (4). The supports illustrated in figures 6 and 7 are provided with rounded corners (25) of the coupling piece, to facilitate installation, replacement and substitution.
[057] The base piece (20) is provided with two legs (23) pointing from the base piece (20) and away from the coupling piece (21) to improve the second welding (19) between the support (4) and the outer periphery of the first flange (5a) and the outer periphery of the second flange (5b).
[058] The support (4) comprises a base surface (26) of the base piece (20), and the base surface is oriented away from the coupling piece and the base surface has a spherical shape to improve the fit with the outer periphery of the first flange (5a) and the outer periphery of the second flange (5b).
[059] The present invention will now be described in more detail below. Detailed Description of the Invention
[060] Consequently, the inventors of the present invention have surprisingly discovered that, by optimizing the disc or a disc dryer (or a heat exchanger) as described Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 21 / 52 12 / 35 here, the effectiveness and productivity of the discs or the dryer comprising them can be improved. At the same time, the inventors of the present invention have found that the process of fitting the discs onto the rotor has become much easier due to the discs according to the present invention.
[061] Disc dryers may be particularly suitable for drying pasty or sludge-like products. These dryers may be constructed of carbon steel as well as stainless steel.
[062] Heat transfer in a disc dryer (or in a heat exchanger) can be provided by means of steam through a heavy central rotor and into the interior of the disc.
[063] Inside the dryer, double-walled discs (where one wall can be the first flange, according to the present invention, and the other wall can be the second flange, according to the present invention) are supported on a centralized hollow shaft that can be heated by steam from within. The product to be dried can be continuously circulated in the drying chamber by a set of rotating discs with paddles fixed to the periphery of the discs, transporting the product to be dried axially through the set of discs in the dryer.
[064] The disc according to the present invention comprises a disc surface and a central hole positioned in the middle of the disc. The disc surface can be defined by the first flange and the second flange.
[065] A preferred embodiment of the present invention relates to a disc comprising a first flange and a second flange, wherein at least part of the first flange may be placed parallel to, or substantially parallel to, at least part of the second flange and wherein a first weld may be provided between the first flange and the second flange and the first weld extends from an outer periphery of the first flange to an outer periphery of the second flange and through Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 22 / 52 13 / 35 minus 5 mm and towards an inner periphery of the first flange and an inner periphery of the second flange.
[066] In one embodiment of the present invention, a support can be fixed directly to an outer periphery of the first flange and / or to an outer periphery of the second flange.
[067] Preferably, the outer periphery of the first flange and / or the outer periphery of the second flange are not provided with a wear ring.
[068] Another preferred embodiment of the present invention relates to a disc comprising a first flange and a second flange, wherein the first flange is placed parallel, or substantially parallel, to the second flange and wherein a support is fixed directly to an outer periphery of the first flange and / or to an outer periphery of the second flange.
[069] During use, for example, in a disc dryer, the peripheral speed of the disc, when rotating, may be greater on the outer periphery of the disc than on the inner periphery of the disc, which may result in rapidly increased wear of the disc on the outer periphery of the disc, and the outer periphery of the disc may become increasingly worn (relative to the inner periphery of the disc), resulting in the risk of leakage of heat medium, such as vapor, from the disc, and it may be necessary to repair the disc or the disc may be discarded, even if the other parts of the disc are perfectly suitable for use.
[070] State-of-the-art solutions can solve this problem by increasing wear on the outer periphery of the disc, applying a wear-resistant bar, a wear ring, or other type of disc protector that are welded to the outer periphery of the disc to increase wear resistance.
[071] One of the challenges with applying wear-resistant bars or other types of disk protectors to the outer periphery of the disk may be that production costs can increase significantly, and heat distortion may occur. Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 23 / 52 14 / 35 first and / or second flanges, resulting in the risk of cavity / opening formation between the disc flanges and / or the repair may be more problematic.
[072] Thus, the inventors of the present invention have surprisingly discovered that the above problems with wear-resistant bars or other types of disc protectors on the outer periphery of the disc can be overcome by a disc according to the present invention.
[073] A preferred embodiment of the present invention relates to a disc comprising a first flange and a second flange, wherein the first flange is placed parallel or substantially parallel to the second flange and wherein an outer periphery of the first flange and / or an outer periphery of the second flange are not provided with a wear ring.
[074] In one embodiment of the present invention, a support can be fixed directly to an outer periphery of the first flange and / or to an outer periphery of the second flange.
[075] The wear ring may be an annular element provided on the periphery of the disc (on the periphery of the first flange and on the periphery of the second flange) to increase the wear resistance of the disc and provide a proper and strong coupling between the support and the disc.
[076] The inventors of the present invention have surprisingly discovered that by welding the first and second flanges together at the outer end, and preferably at the outer end near the periphery of the disc, providing at least one first weld, the metal in this area can react due to the heat of the welding and becomes harder and stronger and greater resistance to wear has been observed.
[077] Preferably, the first weld comprises a coherent weld and the first weld may be in contact with the first flange and the second flange.
[078] In one embodiment of the present invention, the first Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 24 / 52 15 / 35 welding extends from an outer periphery of the first flange and / or an outer periphery of the second flange and at least 5 mm towards an inner periphery of the first flange and / or towards an inner periphery of the second flange, such as 7 mm, for example, at least 10 mm, such as 12 mm, for example, at least 15 mm, such as 17 mm, for example, at least 20 mm, such as 22 mm, for example, at least 25 mm, such as in the range of 5-25 mm, for example, in the range of 7-22 mm, such as in the range of 10-20 mm, for example, in the range of 12-17 mm, such as approximately 15 mm.
[079] This means that by increasing the extent or size of the first welds on the outer end of the first flange and on the outer end of the second flange, or by increasing the effect of the first welds, it may be possible to improve the strength, hardness and resistance of the outer end of the disc and the outer periphery of the disc.
[080] Preferably, an outer end of the first flange may be parallel or substantially parallel to an outer end of the second flange.
[081] In one embodiment of the present invention, the term substantially parallel may refer to an angle between the first flange and the second flange, in particular an angle from the outer end of the first flange to the outer end of the second flange, which is less than 6°, such as less than 5°, for example, less than 4°, such as less than 3°, for example, less than 2°, such as less than 1°.
[082] The first flange and / or the second flange may preferably comprise an outer perimeter and an inner perimeter.
[083] The first flange and / or the second flange may preferably comprise an external end and an internal end.
[084] The inner end of the first flange and / or the second flange may be the end of the flanges (and the Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 25 / 52 16 / 35 end of the disc) towards the center of the flanges and / or the disc, and / or towards the rotor of a disc dryer.
[085] The inner periphery of the disc according to the present invention may form a central hole in the disc. The inner end of the first flange and the inner end of the second flange extend from a central hole to the outer periphery of the disc.
[086] When the disc, according to the present invention, can be welded to the hollow shaft of the rotor, welding stress can be generated between the disc and the hollow shaft, and the welding stress can cause the hollow shaft to bend, resulting in the appearance of cracks in the weld between the hollow shaft and the disc. These cracks can affect the performance of the disc and, consequently, of the dryer during operation. To reduce or even eliminate this welding stress, the inner ends of the first and second flanges can be arranged in an arc shape, and the arc-shaped ends (the inner periphery) can be fixed to the hollow shaft. In this way, the welding stress can be eliminated and the service life of the dryer can be significantly improved.
[087] In one embodiment of the present invention, the inner end, or part of the inner end of the first flange and / or the second end may be provided in the form of an arc (10).
[088] The outer end of the first and / or second flange may constitute the parallel portions of the first flange and / or the second flange.
[089] The inner end of the first and / or second flange may constitute the arc-shaped form of the first flange and / or the arc-shaped form of the second flange.
[090] By adjusting the inner ends, or part of the inner ends, of the first flange and / or the second flange into an arc shape, the stress on the plates during welding can be significantly reduced or even eliminated when welding with the rotor comprising a hollow shaft. Furthermore, the life Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 26 / 52 The 17 / 35 useful life of the disc dryer can be improved.
[091] In one embodiment of the present invention, the arc shape of the inner end of the first flange and / or the arc shape of the inner end of the second flange may have a radius (curve radius) in the range of 30-75 mm, such as in the range of 40-70 mm, for example, in the range of 50-65 mm, such as in the range of 53-60 mm, for example, about 55 mm.
[092] The radius (the radius of the curve) can preferably be determined as the outer radius (radius of the outer curve) relative to the interior of the disk.
[093] In one embodiment of the present invention, the arc shape can be provided within the first 200 mm of an inner periphery of the disc (on the first flange and / or second flange), such as within 100 mm, for example, within 50 mm, such as within 40 mm, for example, within 30 mm.
[094] It may be advantageous to start the arc form near the inner periphery, as this would improve the space available for welding the discs to the hollow rotor shaft. Preferably, the arc form can be provided directly from the inner periphery.
[095] In one embodiment of the present invention, a cavity may be provided in the space between the first flange and the second flange.
[096] The disc cavity of the present invention can be closed at the outer end of the disc.
[097] The outer end of the disc may preferably be the outer end of the first flange and the outer end of the second flange.
[098] The inner end of the disc may preferably be the inner end of the first flange and the inner end of the second flange.
[099] In one embodiment of the present invention, the outer periphery of the disc can be the outer periphery of the first flange and the outer periphery of the second flange. Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 27 / 52 18 / 35
[100] In another embodiment of the present invention, the inner periphery of the disc may be the inner periphery of the first flange and the inner periphery of the second flange.
[101] The first flange and the second flange may have equal lengths. Preferably, the outer end of the first flange is aligned with the outer end of the second flange. The alignment of the outer end of the first flange with the outer end of the second flange may be determined with respect to the perpendicular direction of the parallel portion of the disc (or the parallel portion of the first flange or the second flange).
[102] In one embodiment of the present invention, the outer end of the first flange and the outer end of the second flange can be joined by a first weld.
[103] The combination of the outer end of the first flange and the outer end of the second flange can fuse the outer end of the first flange and the outer end of the second flange by first welding.
[104] The size of the first weld (to increase the extension of an outer periphery of the first flange and / or to an outer periphery of the second flange and towards an inner periphery of the first flange and / or to an inner periphery of the second flange) may be applied by a single layer or sequence of welding material or as multiple layers or sequences of welding materials. Preferably, multiple layers or sequences of welding materials may include two or more layers or sequences of welding materials that may be applied, such as 3 or more, for example, 4 or more, such as 5 or more, for example, 6 or more, such as 7 or more.
[105] Preferably, the multiple layers or sequences of welding materials may be placed adjacent to one another. Preferably, the multiple layers or sequences of welding materials are welded together in continuity with one another. Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 28 / 52 19 / 35 to the others.
[106] In another embodiment of the present invention, the first welds can form a coherent first weld comprising multiple layers or beads.
[107] Preferably, the part of the first weld placed closest to the outer periphery of the disc may align with, or substantially align with, the outer periphery of the first flange and the outer periphery of the second flange.
[108] In one embodiment of the present invention, the disc may comprise an inner periphery and an outer periphery, wherein the outer periphery comprises a diameter (determined from the center point of the disc) that is at least 1.5 times the diameter of the inner periphery, such as at least 2 times the diameter, for example, at least 2.5 times the diameter, such as at least 3 times the diameter.
[109] In another embodiment of the present invention, the disc may comprise an inner periphery and an outer periphery, wherein the outer periphery comprises a diameter (determined from the center point of the disc) that is in the range of 1.2 to 4 times the diameter of the inner periphery, such as in the range of 1.5 to 3 times the diameter of the inner periphery, for example, in the range of 1.75 to 2.5 times the diameter of the inner periphery, such as in the range of 1.9 to 2.2 times the diameter of the inner periphery.
[110] The inventors of the present invention have surprisingly discovered that, in order to allow proper attachment of the support to the outer periphery of the disk, the first welding cannot extend too far beyond the outer periphery of the disk, as there may be a risk that supports subsequently mounted on the outer periphery of the disk may be mounted unstably on the outer periphery of the disk.
[111] In one embodiment of the present invention, the part of the first weld placed closest to the outer periphery of Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 29 / 52 The 20 / 35 disc can be supplied as a continuous connection between the first flange and the second flange.
[112] In the context of the present invention, the term “substantially aligns with” may refer to minor irregularities or deviations.
[113] Without being bound by theory, the inventors of the present invention believe that by increasing the temperature and controlling the temperature of the outer end of the first blade and the outer end of the second flange, the metal in these areas can become harder and stronger and the wear resistance can increase to such an extent that it is unnecessary to add a wear-resistant plate or wear-resistant ring on the outer periphery of the disc to provide high wear resistance of the disc.
[114] In one embodiment of the present invention, the outer end of the disc may comprise an improved wear part and a heating part.
[115] The improved outer end wear piece of the disc may be the outer end part of the disc closest to the disc periphery covering the area where the first welds are made.
[116] In one embodiment of the present invention, the disc portion with improved wear may comprise increased strength and / or increased hardness compared to the disc heating portion.
[117] The outer end heating element may comprise the cavity between the outer end of the first flange and the outer end of the second flange.
[118] The disc cavity may preferably be fitted to allow steam to move in order to heat the disc for the specific purpose of drying.
[119] The flanges of the discs according to the present invention can be held together by strut bolts. The bolts Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 30 / 52 21 / 35 of the strut can be made by welding holes on both sides of the disc (both the first flange and the second flange). A greater number of strut bolts and welding points can increase the strength of each weld and of the disc as a whole. Furthermore, the flanges and the disc can become more robust, resulting in a more rigid construction and extending the production time to supply the rotor.
[120] On the other hand, increasing the number of welding points and thrust bolts can result in the formation of a disc cavity (opening), or in the deformation of the disc (or disc flanges), due to thermal distortion during welding.
[121] In one embodiment of the present invention, the strut bolts can be placed along one or more circular distances from the central hole.
[122] Circular distances can be defined as the distance from the center point of the disc to a row of strut bolts.
[123] The center point can be the center of the center hole.
[124] In one embodiment of the present invention, the strut bolts may be arranged in two or more rows of strut bolts at a circular distance from the center point, such as in three or more rows of strut bolts at a circular distance from the center point, for example, in four or more rows of strut bolts at a circular distance from the center point. Preferably, the strut bolts may be arranged in three rows of strut bolts with the same, or substantially the same, circular distance from the center point.
[125] The row of strut bolts may include a number of strut bolts equidistant from the center point of the disc and preferably evenly distributed over the surface of the disc flanges.
[126] The number of circular distances (or rows of Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 31 / 52 22 / 35 anchor bolts) from the center point of the disc may depend on the disc size. The larger the disc, the more circular distances (and rows of anchor bolts) may be relevant.
[127] The circular distance can be the radius from the center point to a row of strut bolts, resulting in a group of strut bolts with the same, or substantially the same, distance to the center point.
[128] The disc according to the present invention may be provided with a multiplicity of support bolts, wherein the multiplicity of support bolts between the first flange and the second flange.
[129] The disc according to the present invention comprises a multiplicity of strut screws that are placed in one or more rows; preferably in two or more rows; more preferably, in three or more rows, along one or more circular distances from the central point.
[130] Preferably, the disc according to the present invention is provided with a homogeneous distribution of strut screws, or a substantially homogeneous distribution of strut screws.
[131] The first flange and the second flange of the disc according to the present invention may be providing a strut bolt pattern and with an area per strut bolt in the range of 100-350 cm2 per strut bolt.
[132] By providing the disc according to the present invention, the inventors have surprisingly discovered that it is possible to provide discs with limited or no cavity formation, which are easier to produce, have straighter, more homogeneous flanges, are easier to align and weld onto the rotor, and have better wear tolerance when used, for example, in a disc dryer.
[133] The inventors of the present invention also discovered Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 32 / 52 23 / 35 that, by increasing the number of thrust bolts on the disc, or on the first flange and the second flange, it was possible to significantly increase the wear tolerance and the corresponding corrosion tolerance. Therefore, the homogeneous distribution of the thrust bolts and the number of thrust bolts on the disc can be important to avoid the distance between the thrust bolts being too large (with the risk of making the disc weak and unstable, with the risk of deformation) and, at the same time, to avoid the distance between the thrust bolts being too short (with the risk of disc deformation due to thermal distortion).
[134] In one embodiment of the present invention, the distance between the individual strut bolts or between the strut bolts and the outer periphery, or the strut bolts and the inner periphery may be in the range of 100-160 mm, as in the range of 110-150 mm, for example, in the range of 120-140 mm, as in the range of 125-135 mm.
[135] The distance between two or more rows of strut bolts, as well as the distance between three or more rows of strut bolts, may be in the range of 200-350 mm, or in the range of 225-325 mm or more, for example, in the range of 250-300 mm.
[136] In one embodiment of the present invention, the area between 3 anchor bolts can be defined by a circle with a diameter in the range of 100-160 mm, such as in the range of 110-150 mm, for example, in the range of 120-140 mm, such as in the range of 125-135 mm.
[137] The circle that defines the area between 3 support bolts may be in contact with the periphery of the 3 support bolts.
[138] If the rows of strut bolts can be aligned at a radial distance from the center point, a similar circle defining the area can be made between 4 strut bolts instead of 3 strut bolts. In one embodiment of Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 33 / 52 24 / 35 present invention, the circle that defines the area can be made between 4 anchor bolts and can have a diameter in the range of 100-160 mm, as in the range of 110-150 mm, for example, in the range of 120-140 mm, as in the range of 125-135 mm.
[139] In another embodiment of the present invention, the area between 2 supports and the outer periphery can be defined by a circle with a diameter in the range of 100-160 mm, such as in the range of 110-150 mm, for example, in the range of 120-140 mm, such as in the range of 125-135 mm.
[140] In another embodiment of the present invention, the area between 2 supports and the inner periphery can be defined by a circle with a diameter in the range of 100-160 mm, such as in the range of 110-150 mm, for example, in the range of 120-140 mm, such as in the range of 125-135 mm.
[141] When providing a disc according to the present invention, there may be a relatively well-defined distance between the individual strut bolts of the disc, since too few strut bolts on the disc may cause insufficient assembly of the first flange and the second flange in the disc construction, resulting, for example, in a weak, unstable and / or deformed disc with insufficient strength.
[142] On the other hand, when many thrust bolts can be introduced, the amount of work in preparing the disc can be very extensive and very expensive and can cause the first flange and / or the second flange to deform due to the excessive amount of heat supplied (thermal distortion). In addition, increased stress can be imposed on the first flange and the second flange from all thrust bolts introduced, resulting in unwanted gaps at the intersection of the first flange and the second flange and impaired application.
[143] In one embodiment of the present invention, the disc construction can be defined by the area per strut screw. Preferably, the disc can be provided with an area in the range of Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 34 / 52 25 / 35 100-350 cm2 per anchor bolt, for example, in the range of 120-325 cm2 per anchor bolt, as in the range of 130-300 cm2 per anchor bolt, for example, in the range of 140-275 cm2 per anchor bolt, as in the range of 150-250 cm2 per anchor bolt, for example, in the range of 160-225 cm2 per anchor bolt, as in the range of 170-220 cm2 per anchor bolt, for example, in the range of 180-210 cm2 per anchor bolt, such as approximately 200 cm2 per anchor bolt.
[144] The term “area per thrust bolt” can provide a value or a determination of the number of thrust bolts needed to provide a disc with ideal strength in relation to the reduced risk of unintentional deformation and openings along the intersection of the outer end of the first flange and the outer end of the second flange.
[145] Preferably, the disc may be provided with a multiplicity of strut bolts, wherein the multiplicity of strut bolts is provided with a homogeneous distribution of strut bolts, or a substantially homogeneous distribution of strut bolts, providing a pattern of strut bolts and with an area per strut bolt in the range of 100-350 cm2 per strut bolt, for example, in the range of 120-325 cm2 per strut bolt, such as in the range of 130-300 cm2 per strut bolt, for example, in the range of 140-275 cm2 per strut bolt, such as in the range of 150-250 cm2 per strut bolt, for example, in the range of 160-225 cm2 per strut bolt, such as in the range of 170-220 cm2 per strut bolt, for example. in the range of 180-210 cm2 per anchor bolt, as well as approximately 200 cm2 per anchor bolt.
[146] A homogeneous distribution of strut bolts, or a substantially homogeneous distribution of strut bolts, may be related to a uniform and / or consistent distribution of strut bolts and a multiplicity of strut bolts on the first flange and on the second flange. Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 35 / 52 26 / 35
[147] This homogeneous distribution of thrust bolts, or a substantially homogeneous distribution of thrust bolts, can facilitate the alignment of the welding holes on the first flange and the second flange when inserting the thrust bolts.
[148] The anchor bolt can be supplied in a weld hole. The weld hole may comprise an angled edge. The angled edge can improve the strength, forming and / or durability of the weld / the anchor bolt.
[149] In one embodiment of the present invention, the angled edge may have an angle relative to a perpendicular cut in the first flange or in the second flange that is in the range of 15-45°, such as in the range of 20-40°, such as in the range of 25-35°, for example, about 30°. Preferably, the angle is determined from the inside of the disc to the outside of the disc.
[150] In the context of the present invention, welding can be performed by welding and / or brazing.
[151] In one embodiment of the present invention, the outer end of the disc comprises an improved wear part (12) and a heating part (13) wherein the improved wear part of the disc comprises increased strength and / or increased hardness compared to the heating part of the disc.
[152] In one embodiment of the present invention, the disc according to the present invention may preferably comprise an annular body.
[153] The annular body may comprise an inner periphery and an outer periphery. The inner periphery of the disc according to the present invention may be attached to a rotor comprising a hollow shaft.
[154] The disc according to the present invention may be provided with one or more supports, such as two or more supports, for example, three or more supports, such as 4 or more supports, for Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 36 / 52 27 / 35 For example, 5 or more supports, such as 6 or more supports, for example, 7 or more supports, such as 8 or more supports, for example, 9 or more supports, such as 10 or more supports, for example, 12 or more supports, such as 14 or more supports, for example, 16 or more supports, such as 18 or more supports, for example, 20 or more supports.
[155] One or more supports may be provided on the outer periphery of the disc. One or more supports may be in contact with the outer periphery of the first flange and / or the outer periphery of the second flange and / or the first weld combining the first flange and the second flange, preferably the first weld combining the first flange and the second flange and positioned as close as possible to the outer periphery of the disc.
[156] One or more supports may be attached to the outer periphery of the disc (for example, to the outer periphery of the first flange and / or to the outer periphery of the second flange) by means of a second welding.
[157] Preferably, the second weld may cover the periphery, or part of the periphery, of the first flange and / or the second flange, and a lower end of one or more supports.
[158] The lower end of one or more supports may be a portion of one or more supports being about 0.1-15% of the support height, such as about 0.3-10%, for example, at least 0.5-5%, such as at least 0.75-2.5%, for example, at least 1-2%.
[159] One or more supports may extend in a radial direction from the outer periphery of the disc, in particular from the outer periphery of the first flange and / or the outer periphery of the second flange.
[160] The second weld can extend (in the radial direction) for a distance in the range of 1-20 mm, such as in the range of 2-15 mm, for example, in the range of 4-12 mm, such as in the range of 6-10 mm, for Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 37 / 52 28 / 35 example, in the 7-9 mm range, such as approximately 8 m.
[161] When the disk can be supplied with two or more supports, the two or more supports fixed to the outer periphery of the disk may preferably be distributed evenly along the outer periphery of the disk.
[162] In one embodiment of the present invention, the disc comprises 4 supports fixed to the outer periphery of the disc and the 4 supports are uniformly distributed over an angular distance of 90 degrees.
[163] A preferred embodiment of the present invention relates to a disc holder (preferably a disc holder for a disc dryer) comprising a base piece and a coupling piece, wherein a base length of the base piece is greater than a coupling length of the coupling piece.
[164] The base length can be determined on the surface of the base piece facing away from the coupling piece, preferably in the longitudinal direction of the support length.
[165] The coupling length at the point of coupling of the pallets, preferably in the fastening means for attaching the pallets to one or more supports, preferably in the longitudinal direction of the support length.
[166] Preferably, the length of the base of the base piece may be at least 10% greater than the length of the coupling of the coupling piece, for example, at least 20% greater, such as at least 30% greater, for example, at least 40% greater, such as at least 50% greater, for example, at least 60% greater, such as at least 70% greater, for example, at least 80% greater, such as at least 90% greater, for example, at least 100% greater, such as at least 125% greater, for example, in the range of 10-125% greater, such as in the range of 20-100%, for example, in the range of 30-80% greater, such as in the range of 40-70%, for example. Petition 870250089750, dated 02 / 10 / 2025, page 38 / 52 29 / 35 in the 45-60% higher range, as in the 47-55% range.

[172] The slope of the side between the base piece and the coupling piece of the support may be provided to prevent the product, during use in, for example, a disc dryer, from accumulating on the base of the support and to increase the wear resistance of the disc.
[173] The increased length of the base piece of the support may allow for greater strength when welded (a second weld) to the outer periphery of the first flange and / or to an outer periphery of the second flange.
