Description

1 / 8 “MODULAR FRAME”

[001] This utility model relates to a modular device for stretching and securing fabrics, leathers and similar materials of varying thicknesses, providing comfort to users through sound absorption and decoration of architectural environments, allowing the creation of decorative and acoustic panels in various dimensions. The equipment promotes the stretching and securing of fabrics, leathers and similar materials by means of the action of tensioning elements, which may be equipped with threads that press the internal structure against the external structure.

[002] The textiles in question relate primarily to weaving done by hand using various techniques, such as the Minas Gerais loom and other looms found in Latin America (Colombian-Venezuelan Wayuu, Peruvian, Bolivian and Mexican waist loom, and Chilean Mapuche loom), as well as crochet, embroidery and knitting. This textile craft has great cultural relevance, receiving the title of Textile Heritage in several countries such as Mexico, Peru, Colombia and Chile. The resulting textile product is usually used in clothing and household items, such as table runners and rugs. Its use in decorative and acoustic architectural panels is not common. The utility model "Modular Frame" allows for the commercial expansion of the use of the product of this craft of high heritage value.

[003] Traditional know-how is capable of valuing the artisan, affirming and recognizing the construction of individual and collective identities through the crafts they produce. Valuing the product resulting from this know-how generates positive developments for the local economy and for other aspects intrinsic to the know-how (LEMES, BX; PEREIRA, AF The know-how of weaving by women artisans Petition 870260035672, dated 04 / 16 / 2026, page 9 / 17 2 / 8 in contemporary times - female empowerment and craftsmanship from a historical and anthropological perspective. In: Heritage and cultural mediations in contemporary times. (IN PRESS).

[004] The leathers in question refer primarily to those considered exotic, originating from the sustainable management of wild fauna species, such as the black caiman (Melanosuchus niger) and the pirarucu (Arapaima spp). The conservation of species through sustainable use (market-driven conservation) is considered a successful approach in conservation policy. The skin of these animals, after treatment, results in very high-quality leather, whose most common uses remain in the footwear sector, but which can be expanded to uses in decorative and acoustic architectural panels, adding value to the raw material and achieving local development, in line with new horizons in which local products have gained prominence and value, in the face of scenarios of profound globalization and a greater need for belonging. The valorization of territories can provide opportunities for small producers to participate in and access the market, not only by creating value for the products themselves, but also through all the direct and indirect benefits it brings (PEREIRA, AF; COUTINHO, ME; SILVA PINTO, LSCC; BASTOS, AA. Ecodesign and Life Cycle in the production chains of Amazonian socio-biodiversity: valorization of the leather of the black caiman for income generation. In: Editora Poisson. (Org.). Education in the 21st Century - Arts & Design. 1st ed. Belo Horizonte: Editora Poisson, 2019, v. 12, p. 71-75).

[005] On the one hand, these fabrics and leathers have an exuberant appearance with high decorative potential for environments. On the other hand, their use in architectural panels allows for sound absorption in the environments, due to their thick and varied textures.

[006] Noise is considered harmful in architectural environments and, therefore, techniques for adapting environments, favoring Petition 870260035672, dated 04 / 16 / 2026, page 10 / 17 3 / 8 Improvements to acoustic comfort for users are proposed based on knowledge of three sound phenomena: reflection, absorption, and transmission. The porosity of the fibers and the variation in textures present an excellent sound absorption coefficient, since the sound wave comes into contact with this surface and is quickly dampened (CATAI, RE).

[007] The utility model “Modular Frame” seeks to stretch and simultaneously fix these fabrics and leathers by means of threaded tensioners welded to the frame's inner surface, being adaptable to the various thicknesses that such materials may present. The modular design of the frame, constructed in three or more formats to be juxtaposed, also allows for greater variety in the composition of the architectural panel. Frames, moldings, canvas frames, and canvas chassis are commonly used to stretch and fix fabrics. In the market, frames are so named for artifacts in which fabrics are stretched for the purpose of embroidery. They are usually circular for hand embroidery, composed of two concentric hoops, in wood, bamboo, or plastic material, fitted one inside the other, between which the fabric to be embroidered is stretched. Frames, canvas frames, and canvas chassis are used to stretch canvases for artistic painting or screen printing.

These technologies feature concentric rings fitted one inside the other where the cut outer ring, together with a system composed of screw and nut, compresses the fabric and the inner ring. The difference between them lies in the way the devices are closed and fixed, as the present technology uses an element, located inside the inner structure, which, through its expansion, presses this two-part structure against the outer structure, thus fixing the fabric without exposing the fixing device on the outside of the frame.

[022] FIGURE 7: Figure 7 shows an assembly representation of a set containing the device consisting of four devices in three different sizes (06), (07) and (08). DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE TECHNOLOGY

[023] The present utility model “Modular frame” refers to a modular device for stretching and fixing fabrics, leathers and similar materials of varying thicknesses. The equipment promotes the stretching and fixing of fabrics, leathers and similar materials by means of the action of the spacing elements (09) that press the internal structure against the external structure.

[024] The present technology consists of an internal structure (02) that fits inside an external structure (01). The internal structure (02) must have a thickness smaller than that of the external structure so that when the device is assembled, it is not visible, providing a better finish and fit on the wall.

[025] The spacing element (09) consists of a tensioning component (03) and two rods (04). The tensioning component is responsible for moving the rods and internal structure, displacing them simultaneously in an opening or closing motion of the internal structure. Petition 870260035672, dated 04 / 16 / 2026, page 14 / 17 7 / 8

[026] The flexible material (fabrics, leathers and similar) is located between the outer and inner structure, so, with the opening movement of the inner structure, through the movement of the tensioning component (03), the fabric will be compressed and consequently fixed. To remove or replace the flexible material, simply move the tensioning component (03) in the opposite direction to the tightening, and the inner structure will perform a closing movement, thus increasing the gap between the structures and allowing the flexible material to be easily removed.

[027] The present utility model can be better understood by means of the example below, which is not limited to:

[028] Example 1 - Device manufactured in rectangular shape containing an outer frame (01) and an inner frame (02), which fit one inside the other. The outer frame is made of flat metal bar of SAE1020 carbon steel, one inch wide, cut and welded to form a rectangle (01). The inner frame is made of SAE1020 carbon steel angle profile, with sides 5 / 8 inch wide, which is cut and welded to form two separate “L” shapes (02). The two “L” shapes are joined to each other by means of the spacer element (09), welded to the angle profile, which has the function of tightening and fixing the flexible material (fabric, leather and similar) between the outer and inner frames, after being stretched.

[029] The spacing element (09) consists of a tensioning component (03) and two rods that can be threaded (04), one with a clockwise thread and the other with a counter-clockwise thread, in this case, the tensioning component (03) will also be threaded so that when it is rotated, both rods can be moved simultaneously in an opening or closing movement of the internal structure.

[030] Two opposite corners of the inner frame (02) are separated to allow adjustment to the various thicknesses of flexible materials. Petition 870260035672, dated 04 / 16 / 2026, page 15 / 17 8 / 8 (fabrics, leathers and similar) and tightening of the tensioner threads. Small tabs (05) are welded to the corner brackets of the inner frame so that the assembled unit (external and internal structure with flexible material) can be attached to the wall where the panel will be mounted.
