Description

1 / 4 “INTERNAL DEFLECTOR DEVICE FOR AUTOMOTIVE ENGINE OIL DEFLECTORS”

[001] This descriptive report refers to a utility model patent application for an improvement in an oil deflector, which, by means of only one internal component, becomes capable of separating and directing the oil vapors and gases that accumulate in the engine crankcase, preventing them from entering the air intake system of automotive vehicle engines.

[002] According to the improvement, the oil deflector will now be produced with only one internal plastic component, or an internal deflector device made under a dedicated mold, offering notable improvements that will be explained below. Technical comments

[003] The oil deflector for automotive engines is known to have the function of capturing oil vapors and gases generated by the engine's operation, preventing them from accumulating in the crankcase, separating and directing them without mixing with the air entering the combustion chamber, thus maintaining good engine performance.

[004] Current oil deflectors are used for the separation of internal components such as seal pairs, stainless steel valve pairs and a diaphragm.

[005] It is an important component, but it is composed of internal elements that entail high cost and mainly because they require regular removals to avoid overflow or obstruction that can affect its efficiency.

[006] Figure 1, inserted as an example, shows an image of a conventional automotive engine oil deflector that houses the components described above. Subject of the request Petition 870240108876, dated 12 / 20 / 2024, page 6 / 17 2 / 4

[007] Such problems, of high cost and difficulty due to the need for regular removals of the oil deflector, are improved by the proposal for its internal structure, which is reduced to just one component, or a single-piece internal deflector device, which maintains the same function of separating and directing oil vapors and gases from the air intake system in the engine of automotive vehicles.

[008] Explained superficially, the deflector will now be detailed.

[009] Figure 1, as already explained, refers to the well-known deflector with its standard components: internal seals, stainless steel valve and a diaphragm.

[010] The following related figures, numbered 3 to 8, refer to the plastic water pipe, which is the subject of this patent application: Figure 2 - exploded view of the oil deflector with its top cover, the new internal deflector device and the outer casing; Figure 3 - Top isometric view of the internal deflector device; Figure 4 - bottom isometric view of the internal deflector device; Figure 5 - Isometric view of the internal deflector device aligned with the oil deflector housing; Figure 6 - view as per previous figure showing the internal deflector device mounted and glued inside the oil deflector housing; Figure 7 - Isometric view of the internal deflector device aligned with the oil deflector cover; Figure 8 - Isometric view of the cover assembled with the oil deflector housing, housing the internal deflector device, ready. Petition 870240108876, dated 12 / 20 / 2024, page 7 / 17 3 / 4 for operation.

[011] In accordance with the attached figures, the “INTERNAL DEFLECTOR DEVICE FOR AUTOMOTIVE ENGINE OIL DEFLECTORS”, the subject of this utility model patent application, consists, as shown in Figure 2, of an oil deflector (D) equipped with a housing (1) with an inner cradle (2) receiving the internal deflector device (3), whose function is to separate and direct in a single piece the oil vapors and gases resulting from the operation of the automotive engine, preventing them from accumulating in the crankcase and preventing them from entering the air intake system. As can be seen, the oil deflector (D) also has a closing cap (4).

[012] As shown in figure 3, the internal deflector device (3) is produced in a single piece by means of a dedicated plastic injection design, with a rectangular body (5) and an upper face (6) incorporating a central protrusion (7) pierced by aligned holes (8) and (9) delimited by respective annular protrusions (10) and (11). Near the edge, the upper face (6) is also pierced by a channel (12) connected to a hole (13).

[013] As shown in figure 4, from the central projection (7) is reflected, on the lower face (14) of the internal deflector device (3), a recess (15) extends from which extends a half-round guide (16) with folded side tabs (17), the annular projections (10) and (11) of the aligned holes (8) and (9) are also reflected and a conical tube (18) extends from the hole (13).

[014] For assembly, as shown in figure 5, the internal deflector device (3) is aligned on the cradle (2) of the housing (1) where, in the latter, it is inserted as shown in figure 6 and then glue is applied for its fixation. Petition 870240108876, dated 12 / 20 / 2024, page 8 / 17 4 / 4

[015] As shown in figure 7, the closing cover (4) is aligned, fitted and also glued to the recessed edge surrounding the housing (1).

[016] In this way the internal plastic deflector device (3) is housed, in a single piece as shown in figure 8, in the oil deflector (D) of the automotive vehicle engine, resulting in lower manufacturing costs because of the injection process it is made of, the elimination of seals, stainless steel valve pairs, diaphragm, in addition to facilitating its removal for regular maintenance and cleaning.
