AI Technical Summary
Existing potato cutting machines on the market primarily produce wavy shapes or thin sheets, failing to create cross-stranded filaments, and existing patents do not address this specific cutting method.
A mechanical system with a thin, sharp, corrugated steel cutting blade performs cross-cut movements on potatoes, passing through two blades in transverse directions, using an eccentric oscillating mechanism driven by an electric motor to create cross-filaments.
The machine efficiently cuts potatoes into cross-filaments, providing a unique cutting geometry that differs from traditional methods, suitable for further processing.

Description
1 / 3 MACHINE FOR CUTTING POTATOES INTO CROSSED FILAMENTS {001} This utility model patent application refers to a machine for cutting potatoes into crossed filaments that has a mechanical system with electrical drive designed to cut the potato and, at the same time, form crossed filaments in a screen geometry. {002} Traditionally, potato cutting machines offered on the consumer market cut potatoes into wavy shapes or thin sheets, which are then processed through various frying and vacuum packaging processes. {003} In the prior art search, the first priority found in the INPI (Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property) was BR 11 2014 032631-2, dated 06 / 29 / 2012, which shows "a method of preparing a potato-based food product, cut into lattices and a cutting blade for cutting potatoes". This application concerns a slicing method such that the ridges and grooves on one surface of the slices are oriented transversely to the ridges and grooves on the opposite surface of the slices. The sizes and shapes of the ridges and grooves are specifically selected so that each point inside a slice is no greater than a specific distance from an outer surface of the slice. This priority shows one of the various types of machines available on the market, but it does not coincide with the potato cuts of the present utility model application made in cross-stranded filaments.Another priority patent filed in Brazil is the Japanese patent number BR 11 2015 009854 1, dated 11 / 26 / 2013, which demonstrates a method for making potato chips that are not fried, i.e., heated in an airflow. This... Petition 870250005292, dated 01 / 23 / 2025, page 7 / 14 2 / 3 is also not a process similar to that of the present utility model application, as it also does not cut cross-filaments. The last application searched at INPI is number BR 11 2015 006638 0 - GB 1217414 0, union priority 09 / 28 / 2012, which describes "an apparatus for cutting potato slices, and a method for manufacturing potato chips," showing the traditional and obsolete devices offered on the market. {004} In the international search field, on GOOGLE PATENTS, one can view patent AU 2017 202080 B2, which describes a rotary knife attachment for cutting vegetable products, such as raw potatoes, into spiral shapes. This is not the case with the present invention, which shows cuts in crossed filaments. PATENTSCOPE shows priority GB 1472450, dated 9 / 11 / 1974, which demonstrates the first cuts and separation of potatoes through the extrusion process, which is also not the case with the present application. {005} In this utility model patent application, the filaments are the result of cross-cut movements performed by a thin, sharp, corrugated, steel cutting pump blade. Its mechanical system allows the potato to pass through two blades, which pass over the potato in transverse directions. These potatoes are fed by a guide onto the hinged lid. The cabinet houses the fixed mechanism and contains a collection container for the cut slices in the form of cross-cut filaments. {006} The present machine for cutting potatoes into cross-filaments can be better understood through the attached figures, in accordance with this descriptive report, where FIGURE 1 shows Petition 870250005292, dated 01 / 23 / 2025, page 8 / 14 Figure 3 / 3 shows the side view inside the machine, containing the rotating, eccentric oscillating mechanism, generating the elliptical movement with the blade passing through the potato in perpendicular directions. Part (1) is an oscillating arm, a freely rotating shaft on two bearing housings fixed to the back wall of the cabinet. The other end moves in an arc, has a bearing with a shaft, having on the upper part the disc (4) supporting the cutting blades and on the other face a connecting rod, part (2). The electric motor, part (3), generates the force and speed required for cutting the potato slices. The cabinet (5) has an open lower side where a container (6) for collecting the cut slices is positioned. The tube (12) is where the potato is placed for slicing. The cylinder (13) pushes the potato by its own weight and also has pointed pins preventing the potato from moving inside the guide. FIGURE 2 shows the mechanism with the plate (4) containing two blades (11).The connecting rod (14) driven by the electric motor (3), combined with the two arms (1) and (2) generates the elliptical rotary motion of the plate (4). FIGURE 3 shows the level of the arms (1) and (2) and the electric motor (3) attached to the arm (2). All bearings oscillate on the ball bearing (9) and are visible for the central shaft. The connecting rod assembly (10) is bolted to the central shaft and to the output of the motor (3), which is coupled to the rotation motor. FIGURE 4 shows the hinged tilting cover (16), the potato feeder (12) and (13) containing a handle (15) for gripping during operation. Petition 870250005292, dated 01 / 23 / 2025, page 9 / 14
