Description
1 / 4 "BRAKE SHOE KEY" Technical field of the utility model
[001] This utility model patent application relates to a key for train brake shoes, designed to improve the efficiency, safety and durability of railway braking systems. The key plays a crucial role in securing the brake shoes to the brake system's support structures, ensuring stable operation even under severe load and temperature conditions.
[002] The utility model aims to overcome technical limitations of existing solutions, offering greater resistance to wear and ease of installation and maintenance.
[003] With the growing demand for safer and more efficient rail systems, advances in braking components have become a priority. The proposed new keyway seeks to meet this demand by integrating innovations in design and materials used, providing significant improvements in operational performance and reliability. Background of the utility model
[004] In railway braking systems, brake shoes are essential components, responsible for creating friction with the train wheels to reduce their speed or stop them completely. The attachment of these shoes to the braking system structures is normally done by means of keys, which need to withstand high mechanical forces, constant impacts and exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as extreme heat, humidity and corrosion.
[005] Current technologies face challenges related to durability and maintenance efficiency. Conventional keys often exhibit accelerated wear due to constant friction and, in many cases, require frequent replacements or maintenance procedures. Petition 870250006570, dated 01 / 27 / 2025, page 8 / 16 2 / 4 complicated, which can increase operating costs, in addition to downtime for the rail system, potentially leading to the discontinuation of production.
[006] Furthermore, some existing solutions lack designs that allow for practical and quick installation, especially in high-demand rail systems. Such limitations highlight the need for new developments that combine wear resistance, ease of installation, and high operational reliability.
[007] Document US1927248A describes an invention relating to an improved steering mechanism for vehicles. This mechanism aims to reduce the effort required to operate the steering wheel, promoting greater ease and precision in vehicle control. The invention uses an innovative gear system to optimize power transmission, offering an efficient solution to common driving challenges.
[008] Document US2072007A discloses an invention for an improved suspension system in vehicles. This system uses an innovative spring and shock absorber design to improve stability and comfort while driving, especially on uneven terrain. The invention aims to provide greater efficiency in suspension performance by reducing vibrations and impacts transmitted to the vehicle and its occupants.
[009] The present utility model proposes an innovative technical solution that addresses these shortcomings, providing an optimized key for railway brake shoes, which combines greater mechanical strength, ease of installation and improved anti-corrosion properties.
[010] Other aspects or modalities of the present utility model may be understood by specialists in the field, based on the description, claims and drawings in this descriptive report. Brief Description of the Drawings
[011] The following drawings are merely illustrative examples according to various embodiments described and are not intended to limit the scope of the utility model claimed herein: Petition 870250006570, dated 01 / 27 / 2025, page 9 / 16 3 / 4 • Figure 1 - Photograph of the key of the present utility model; • Figure 2 - Photograph of the key of the present utility model installed in a brake shoe; and • Figure 3 - Photograph of the bend of the key of the present utility model. Detailed Description of the Utility Model
[012] As can be seen in Figures 1 to 3, the present utility model refers to a key (1) specifically designed for use in brake shoes (4) of trains, featuring improvements in its functionality and performance in railway applications. The key (1) consists of a main structure comprising a bend (2) located at its upper end and a longitudinal body (3) connected to it.
[013] The distinctive feature of the bend (2) is its closed shape, configured to provide a spring effect. This configuration significantly contributes to increased resistance to mechanical deformation, ensuring greater durability of the part during prolonged use under high pressure and typical wear conditions that occur in railway systems. The closed shape of the bend (2) also facilitates the uniform distribution of stresses, minimizing stress concentration points and extending the service life of the assembly.
[014] The longitudinal body (3) is designed to ensure a firm connection between the key (1) and the brake shoe (4), preventing unwanted displacement and maintaining the stability of the braking system. The longitudinal body (3) comprises an arc shape. The geometry of the longitudinal body can be optimized to meet different structural or functional requirements according to specific application needs.
[015] The key (1) can be manufactured from a wide variety of metallic materials, such as different types of steel. Examples include carbon steel, stainless steel and spring steel, chosen according to the desired application. The selection of the material can be made considering factors such as Petition 870250006570, dated 01 / 27 / 2025, page 10 / 16 4 / 4 mechanical strength, corrosion resistance and cost-effectiveness, adapting to the operational conditions of the railway systems in which it will be used.
[016] Having described some examples of preferred embodiments of the utility model, it is worth noting that the scope of protection conferred by this document encompasses all other alternative forms applicable to the execution of this object, which is defined and limited only by the content of the claims presented.
