Description
Improvement introduced in the access ladder of a dump truck bed. Field of Invention
[001] This Utility Model relates to an improvement of a ladder that is installed on the outer face of a cargo container, which is a road implement in the form of a cargo box, mounted on the chassis of a truck, trailer or semi-trailer, among others. The ladder provides greater safety, durability and practicality in its use, among other advantages. State of the Art
[002] It is known that road freight transport is an essential activity for the maintenance and development of societies in general; being essential for the maintenance of human subsistence, since all goods consumed are, at some point, transported by land, more particularly on highways, and even more particularly on trucks, which are equipped - on their chassis - with specific cargo boxes for each category of products. That said, it is worth highlighting that due to its practicality for loading and unloading granular cargo - such as cereals, ores, fertilizers, among others - one of the most commonly used cargo box models for transporting grains is the tipper truck, which can be configured to be mounted on the chassis of conventional trucks, trailers, semi-trailers, among others. These cargo boxes are basically made up of a horizontal, parallelepiped-shaped metal box; the tipper body unloads cargo by means of hydraulic pistons, which raise one end of the body, tilting it and thus forcing the cargo to flow out by gravity through the lower end, which is equipped with a lid. [003] In turn, it is very often necessary to visually inspect the interior of the skip, whether it is loaded or empty; so the vast majority of these skips have an external ladder, which is permanently fixed to the outer face of one of its walls, preferably the front wall, to avoid accidents. Due to specific needs, it is common for the front wall of the skips to be inclined outwards, so that, in order for the access ladder to be positioned vertically (its ideal position for use), it is normal for its upper end to be fixed to the upper edge of the front wall of the skip, while the lower end of the ladder must have fixed extension arms, which reach the lower region of the front wall of the skip, thus providing the fixation of the lower end of the ladder to the skip, without the ladder having to follow the inclination of the front wall of the skip.To illustrate the present state of the art, some of the images shown in the article at the following link can be observed (https: / / www.youtube.com / watch?v=QpWZ8Vu-dc&ab_channel=PaulodaGUERRAimplementoRodovi%C3 %A 1rio).
[004] The constructive configuration of the ladder described above implies some considerable inconveniences and limitations, highlighting, firstly, the fact that the lower end of the ladder is permanently projected outwards - due to the fixed extension arms - becoming a physical obstacle that can be bumped by people and equipment, potentially causing injuries and other damage; it is also noteworthy that the extension arms at the lower end of the ladder are subject to the effects of the high vibration of the truck bed during operation, resulting in bending stresses that cause deformations and even fractures of the ladder elements, and especially of the fixed extension arms; among other inconveniences. Petition 870250059757, dated 07 / 14 / 2025, page 7 / 12 3 / 6 Objectives of the Invention
[005] With the aim of resolving these inconveniences, the present utility model was developed, which proposes a novel constructive arrangement of a ladder for a tipper truck bed. The ladder is configured to be installed on the outer face of an inclined wall that forms part of the tipper truck bed. The ladder stands out from the prior art because its mounting on the truck bed is achieved using articulation mechanisms; its lower extension arms are transversely sectioned in their middle region and joined together by articulation; these extension arms are also articulated to the wall of the truck bed and to the lateral segments of the ladder; and its upper end is articulated to the upper edge of the truck bed. This allows the ladder to be retracted parallel to the outside of the truck bed wall when not in use, and temporarily extended outwards when needed. These features provide greater safety, durability, and practicality for the ladder, among other advantages. Description of the drawings
[006] For a better understanding of the present utility model, a detailed description thereof is given below, with reference to the attached drawings, where: FIGURE 1 illustrates, in front and top perspective, the ladder in the open position; FIGURE 2 illustrates the ladder in its open position from a rear and top perspective; FIGURE 3 illustrates the ladder in its open position from a rear and bottom perspective; Petition 870250059757, dated 07 / 14 / 2025, page 8 / 12 4 / 6 FIGURE 4 illustrates a side view of the ladder in its open position; FIGURE 5 illustrates a top view of the ladder in its open position; FIGURE 6 illustrates the ladder in its closed position from a front and top perspective; FIGURE 7 illustrates the ladder in its closed position from a rear and top perspective; FIGURE 8 illustrates a side view of the ladder in its closed position; FIGURE 9 illustrates a rear view of the ladder in its closed position; FIGURE 10 illustrates a side view of a tipping bucket, representing the ladder assembly in the closed position; and the FIGURE 11 illustrates a side view of a tipper truck bed, representing the ladder assembly in the open position. Detailed Description
[007] According to these illustrations and their details, the present utility model: IMPROVEMENT INTRODUCED IN ACCESS LADDER FOR DUMP TRUCK comprises two tubular rods (H), parallel to each other, and arranged substantially vertically; which are joined together by means of a plurality of horizontal steps (D). The upper end of each tubular rod (H) is articulatedly mounted in a respective bearing (M1), or equivalent articulation device.Whereas the lower ends of both tubular rods (H) have a semicircular curvature (C), which are joined together by means of a horizontal axis (E1); on which is mounted - articulatedly - the front end of a first rectangular plate (P1); whose rear end is mounted - articulatedly - by means of a horizontal axis (E2), on the front end of a second rectangular plate (P2); whose rear end is mounted - articulatedly - in a pair of lateral bearings (M2), or equivalent articulation device;. Petition 870250059757, dated 07 / 14 / 2025, p. 9 / 12 5 / 6 wherein the second plate (P2) has a rectangular opening (A) in its middle region. Also, the second plate (P2) has a pair of lateral tabs (O) at its front end, with holes (F1) aligned horizontally with each other, while the first plate (P1) has holes (F2) in a position corresponding to those holes (F1) of the second plate (P2) – which are aligned horizontally with each other when the ladder is open – so that a pin (P) is inserted through the holes (F1) and (F2) of the respective first plate (P1) and second plate (P2). In turn, both plates – (P1) and (P2) – have respective holes (F3) and (F4) in their middle regions; whereby both holes (F3) and (F4) are aligned horizontally with each other when both plates - (P1) and (P2) are articulated with each other on the axis (E2), going to a parallel arrangement with each other - FIGS 6 to 10.
[008] In turn, to cooperate with the installation and operation of the present ladder, the tilting bucket (K) receives on the outer face of its front wall (S) - which is inclined outwards - the fixing and a bearing (M3), whose position coincides with the position of that opening (A) of the second plate (P2); and the position of the hole (F5) of said bearing (M3) coincides with the position of those holes (F3) and (F4) of the respective first plate (P1) and second plate (P2), aligning with each other, when both plates - (P1) and (P2) - are articulated to each other on the axis (E2), going to a parallel arrangement between them, which corresponds to the arrangement of the closed ladder - FIGS 6 to 10. Furthermore, those bearings (M1) at the upper end of the tubular rods (H) are fixed to the upper outer edge (B) of the front wall of the bucket (K); whereas, those lower bearings (M2), of the second plate (P2), are fixed in the lower region of the front wall (S) of the bucket (K).
[009] The operation of this IMPROVEMENT Petition 870250059757, dated 07 / 14 / 2025, page 10 / 12 6 / 6 The method INTRODUCED INTO A DUMP TRUCK ACCESS LADDER is simple and practical. Firstly, when the ladder is at rest (not in use) - FIGS 6 to 10 - the tubular rods (H) are retracted parallel to the outer face of the front wall (S) of the dump truck (K), as illustrated in FIG 10. In this arrangement, the plates (P1) and (P2) are articulated around their common axis (E2), remaining parallel to each other, which causes that rectangular opening (A) of the second plate (P2) to rest on that bearing (M3) of the dump truck (K) and, in this position, that pin (P) is inserted - by a worker - through the holes (F3), (F4) and (F5) of its respective elements: first plate (P1), second plate (P2) and bearing (M3); so that the ladder remains securely immobilized in this resting position.
[010] On the other hand, when it is necessary to use the ladder - to access and / or view the interior of the bucket (K) - the said ladder must be moved to its position of use - FIGS 1 to 5 and 11 - for this, the pin (P) must be removed from the holes (F3), (F4) and (F5), releasing the rotation of the plates (P1) and (P2) on their axis (E2); so that the plates (P1) and (P2) articulate with each other, going to a position linearly aligned with each other, which pushes the rods (H) - together with the steps (D) forward; and, in this position, that pin (P) is inserted through the holes (F1) and (F2) of the respective second plate (P2) and first plate (P1), in order to lock the position of the ladder in its position of use.
[011] Logically, the present IMPROVEMENT INTRODUCED IN ACCESS LADDER FOR DUMP TRUCK and its elements can be made with varied geometric shapes and proportions. The materials used can also be diverse, as long as the basic particular characteristics that are essential to its realization are maintained.
