Description
TOOL FOR THE PRODUCTION OF WAX DISCS USED IN THE CASTING OF DENTAL PARTS
[001] In the composition of molds for casting dental parts, it is common to use small pieces of casting wax in the shape of a disc (a section of a cylinder). The usual way to produce these wax discs is by sectioning wax sticks or strands, which are offered on the market in sets containing several sticks or strands.
[002] However, discs produced in this way often lack the desired contour precision for mold production. The tool that is the subject of this application was developed to produce casting wax discs with greater precision.
[003] The tool is illustrated by the attached drawings, which represent: Figure 1 - Perspective view Figure 2 - Perspective view with the pestle inserted into the cutter. Figure 3 - Cutaway view of the tool in the wax cutting operation. - Figure 4 - Perspective view of the tool in the disc extraction operation
[004] The numbering in the drawings and this descriptive report refers to the following components and elements: Cutter - Mortar - Current - Hollow interior of the cutter - Tabs Cutting wax Wax discs
[005] As can be inferred from the drawings, the present tool basically consists of a cutter (1) and a pestle (2) joined by a chain (3). Petition 870250070785, dated 11 / 08 / 2025, page 4 / 9 2 / 2
[006] The cutter (1) consists of a preferably metallic cylindrical tube with a hollow interior (4) and two symmetrically opposite tabs (5), intended for supporting the fingers when handling the tool.
[007] The pestle (2) consists of a solid cylinder, preferably metallic, with the diameter required to be inserted into the hollow interior (4) of the cutter (1) with a small clearance.
[008] The chain (3), also preferably metallic, connects the cutter (1) and the pestle (2), so that they are always together, without the risk of one component becoming separated from the other. It can optionally be replaced by a wire or another component with the same function.
[009] To produce the wax discs, the wax to be cut is spread on a surface forming a plate (6), which is greased with Vaseline. As illustrated in figure 3, the cutter is pressed vertically onto the wax plate, cutting a wax disc (7) from it, which is stored in the hollow interior (4) of the cutter. By repeating the process several times, the wax discs (7) accumulate inside the cutter.
[010] When the inside of the cutter is full or the desired quantity of wax discs has been produced, the discs are extracted. To do this, as illustrated in figure 4, the pestle (2) is inserted into one end of the hollow interior (4) of the cutter (1), so that the wax discs (7) come out through the other end. As the wax has been coated with Vaseline, the discs do not stick to each other and come off easily, ready to be used in the casting mold.
