Description
1 / 3 Polymer-bound book pages Field of invention
[001] This utility model patent pertains to the technical sectors of book printing and the plastics industry. It involves both sectors. In the book sector, it encompasses graphic arts and printing, while in the plastics industry, it specifically involves films, packaging, printing, and lamination. Fundamentals of the invention
[002] The present utility model invention is based on promoting, for specific cases, the manufacture of highly resistant and durable books. This is achieved by replacing ordinary paper sheets with sheets composed of natural or synthetic polymers. In other words, replacing paper with plastic or polymer fibers. Books made with polymers already exist, but those that do have thick sheets for few pages or are intended for the children's sector, such as inflatable books, and are not intended to replace the common way of printing books, which is printing on paper.
[003] The objective of this Utility Model is to subsidize, in some cases, the change of material used in the manufacture of a book, from paper sheets to a book with polymer sheets. This is very expensive, but in some cases the high cost may be worthwhile in favor of high durability. In the present utility model, the idea is to use sheets of polymers or composite material mostly made of polymer in a thickness between 0.2 millimeters and 0.05 millimeters.
[004] This is with the aim of obtaining a highly resistant book with the same dimensions as a regular paper book. Paper is the best material for making books and notebooks, but in specific cases it is worth investing in polymer-coated paper. For example, a nautical equipment manual. Petition 870250075300, dated 08 / 25 / 2025, page 3 / 12 2 / 3
[005] In specific cases, even though the book is much more expensive, it is desirable that it be waterproof and highly durable. This compensates for the high cost in order to have greater durability compared to paper. Brief description of the drawings Figure F1 represents a book or notebook with pages made of polymer. Figure F2 represents the thickness of the sheets, which are composed mostly of polymer material, between 0.2 millimeters and 0.05 millimeters thick. Description of the invention
[006] For book manufacturing, paper is the cheapest and most efficient material for printing; it is difficult to find a better material. Therefore, this utility model patent aims only to make viable, in some cases, the production of a highly resistant and durable book. A book that is resistant to water, mold, and that is more resistant to tearing and falling apart. Printing on sheets of polymer film is widely used in packaging in the plastics industry. They have excellent properties but are little used in the book industry to make an entire book, due to their high cost and because they have a much more complex printing process.
[007] A step towards making the production of books with polymer pages viable is the present utility model patent. The present Utility Model is a book made of polymer sheets or with its largest composition being polymer, with a sheet thickness between 0.2 millimeters and 0.05 millimeters. But Petition 870250075300, dated 08 / 25 / 2025, page 4 / 12 3 / 3 preferably with a thickness close to 0.05 millimeters, as shown in figure F2.
[008] The use of polymer or polymer composite material aims to meet exceptional cases where the high cost of the material or the value of the book's content itself justifies the high investment. The polymers used may be composed of Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP), Polypropylene (PP), Polyethylene (PE), Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Polyethylene Vinyl Chloride (PVC), and Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE). Figure F1 illustrates a book made of polymer pages. Examples of embodiments of the invention
[009] The present utility model invention is a common book but manufactured with an unusual material for books, whose pages have a very specific material and dimensions. The pages are mostly made of polymer, for example of the BOPP type (Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene). And whose thickness of the pages is between 0.2 millimeters and 0.05 millimeters. The book is bound and manufactured using the already established principles of the printing industry, but for the realization of the present utility model there is a different approach in book manufacturing with an interaction between the plastics industry and the printing industry. This allows the replacement of the page material, replacing paper with polymer. Petition 870250075300, dated 08 / 25 / 2025, page 5 / 12
