Description
1 / 3 CONSTRUCTIONAL ARRANGEMENT IN A SEALING DEVICE FOR SEED DOSERS Technological sector of the Utility Model
[001] This Utility Model pertains to the agricultural equipment sector and refers more specifically to a sealing device for pneumatic seed metering devices, designed to prevent the escape of fine seeds, such as sesame, brachiaria, canola, and millet, from the bottom of the vacuum chamber. The device has a curved, half-moon shape and is installed under the metering disc, ensuring greater pressure in the area where leaks occurred, eliminating losses and improving the accuracy of seed distribution during planting. State of the Art
[002] In pneumatic seed metering devices, especially when using fine seeds such as sesame, brachiaria, and canola, a significant problem of seed leakage can occur at the bottom of the vacuum chamber. This happens because many commercial bases are not specifically designed for this type of seed, being more suitable for larger grains such as soybeans, sorghum, and corn.
[003] The problem manifests itself at the lower point of the system, where the metering disc fits into the base and rotates in the direction of seed distribution. During operation, the seeds enter from the side of the metering disc and settle into the holes in the disc. However, the pressure exerted by the accumulation of seeds inside the chamber causes the disc to move slightly away from the base at the bottom, creating an unwanted opening. This small space allows the seeds to leak out before being properly directed to the metering disc outlet.
[004] This leakage compromises the accuracy of the distribution, resulting in wasted input and uneven seed placement in the soil. In high-value, low-weight crops, such as canola, this loss can have a significant impact on productivity. In addition, seed escape can lead to spacing failures, impairing planting uniformity and reducing the utilization of the crop's potential. Petition 870250017285, dated 05 / 03 / 2025, page 6 / 15 2 / 3 Utility Model Updates
[005] To eliminate the escape of fine seeds, such as sesame, brachiaria, canola, and millet, a half-moon shaped sealing device (see image) was incorporated into the lower part of the vacuum chamber of the metering device. This component prevents the pressure of the seeds inside the chamber from pushing the metering disc away from the base, preventing the seeds from escaping before the correct release time.
[006] By inserting the metering disc over this seal and locking it into the system, it continues to rotate normally, but now with greater pressure in the lower region, where leaks previously occurred. This seal acts as a physical barrier, ensuring that no seeds can improperly pass through this area. As a result, seed loss during disc rotation is completely eliminated, ensuring a more precise and uniform distribution of these smaller seeds.
[007] This improvement solves a common problem in thin seed discs, allowing the metering system to operate without waste and with better agronomic efficiency. Description of the attached drawings
[008] In order for the present invention to be fully understood and put into practice by any technician in this technological sector, it will be described in a clear, concise and sufficient manner, based on the attached drawings, which illustrate and support it, listed below: Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the sealing device; Figure 2 represents a rear perspective view of the device; Figure 3 represents a photograph of a vacuum chamber, highlighting the lower region where seeds escape; Figure 4 shows a photograph of a vacuum chamber, highlighting the sealing device mounted on the disc support. Detailed description of the Utility Model
[009] The sealing device (D) is installed at the bottom of the vacuum chamber (E), in the area supporting the metering disc, and has a curved shape in half Petition 870250017285, dated 05 / 03 / 2025, page 7 / 15 3 / 3 moon, with a surface (1) that runs its entire length, forming the outer part of the curvature.
[010] At the base of the piece, there is an orthogonal surface (2), which serves as a structural support or fitting.
[011] At one end, there is a protruding tab (3), which stands out from the main structure and can act as a fixing point. At the same end, there is also an open space (4), which interrupts the continuity of the piece, allowing for an adjustable fit, structural flexibility or accommodation of another component.
[012] The upper surface (1) can be designed with specific cutouts, allowing it to be adapted for mounting in vacuum chambers from different manufacturers. These cutouts can vary in shape and depth to ensure compatibility with different configurations of bases and dosing discs, ensuring a precise fit and proper sealing, regardless of the dosing model used.
[013] It is important to emphasize that the figures and descriptions provided do not limit the ways in which the inventive concept now proposed can be implemented, but rather illustrate and make understandable the conceptual innovations revealed in this solution. Thus, the descriptions and images should be interpreted in an illustrative and not limiting way, and there may be other equivalent or analogous ways of implementing the inventive concept now revealed that do not fall outside the scope of protection outlined in the proposed solution.
