Description

1 / 5 IMPROVEMENT IN ROLLER DEPIGATOR

[01] The present utility model describes an improvement in a husking roller applied to a corn harvesting platform line that has drag fins and cutting fins (or blades) formed from flat sheets, without folds, allowing the use of materials with superior hardness and guaranteeing a more precise dimensional tolerance, with the drag fin fitted into the cutting fins which in turn are fixed to the roller core by screwing.

[02] Husking rollers are essential devices on a corn harvesting platform. They basically comprise two rollers that rotate in opposite directions, pulling the corn stalk, so that the husking plates located above the rollers lock the ear, tearing it from the stalk to be transported by chains to the center of the platform and, from there, taken to the combine harvester's threshing system so that the grains are separated.

[03] For pulling and cutting the plant, in order to avoid clogging, stripping rollers have sets of drag vanes or bars (without cutting edge) and cutting vanes, usually made of steel, in the shape of a “C” or “L” and cast or fixed to the surface of the roller by screwing.

[04] The state of the art describes several models of debarking rollers, with fins of various configurations to pull and chop the plant stalk in a more aggressive and uniform way, reducing the amount of straw that enters the combine harvester.

[05] Document BR202023008288 describes a stripping roller equipped with bladed and blind fins in an “L” shape and a complementary blind fin segment near the ends of the roller, where the fins are fixed to the roller core by screwing. Petition 870260050565, dated 05 / 27 / 2026, p. 15 / 21 2 / 5

[06] Document BR202023017241 describes a stripping roller that includes pairs of “L” shaped fins and a blade on each face of the cubic profile.

[07] Document BR202024020446 describes a stripping roller with an additional “L” shaped fin interposed between the blade and “L” shaped fins fixed to the roller.

[08] One of the main challenges in the production process of stripping roller fins is the shape, usually in an “L” or “C” shape, which requires bending, restricting the materials that can be used, increasing the manufacturing steps and affecting dimensional tolerance. Given the need to ensure wear resistance, the use of high-hardness materials, ideal in these applications, is not feasible.

[09] In order to offer an alternative, the Applicant has developed an improved assembly of stripping roller fins in which the drag fins and the cutting fins are formed from flat sheets, without folds, allowing the use of materials with superior hardness and guaranteeing a more precise dimensional tolerance, with the drag fin fitted into the cutting fins which in turn are fixed to the roller core by screwing.

[010] The utility model describes an improvement in a stripping roller that allows the fins to be manufactured from a harder material, increasing wear resistance, given that the fins are free of folds.

[011] The utility model describes an improvement in a stripping roller that makes the production process leaner and faster by eliminating bending steps. Petition 870260050565, dated 05 / 27 / 2026, page 16 / 21 3 / 5

[012] The utility model describes an improvement in a stripping roller that ensures a more precise dimensional tolerance due to the fitting of the cutting and drag fins.

[013] In order to better describe the improvement in the stripping roller, the following figures are presented:

[016] Figure 3A shows a cross-sectional view of the stripping roller with the drag fins and cutting fins.

[017] Figure 3B shows the cross-sectional view BB of the stripping roller with the drag fins and the cutting fins.

[018] Figure 3C shows the CC cross-sectional view of the stripping roller with the additional fins.

[019] Figure 4A shows a perspective view of the drag fin.

[020] Figure 4B shows the top view of the drag fin.

[021] Figure 5A shows a perspective view of the cutting fin.

[022] Figure 5B shows the top view of the cutting fin.

[023] Figure 6A shows a representation of a first subset of fins, showing the fitting of the drag fin into the cutting fin.

[024] Figure 6B shows the representation of a first subset of fins, showing the complementary fin.

[025] Figure 7 shows a representation of the assembly of a second subset in association with the first subset of fins. Petition 870260050565, dated 05 / 27 / 2026, p. 17 / 21 4 / 5

[026] Figure 8A shows a set of cutting (AC) and drag (AR) fins mounted, ready to be fixed to one of the faces of the roll core.

[027] Figure 8B shows a set of fins to be attached to one face of the roll core, including the additional fins.

[028] The improvement in stripping roller, object of this utility model, comprises a set of drag fins (AR) and cutting fins (AC) fitted together and fixed to the faces of the core (110) of the roller (100) by screwing.

[029] The drag fin (AR) comprises a flat rectangular plate having a longitudinal area (10) with a blind outer edge (10a) and an opposite longitudinal edge (10b) having at least two leveled and spaced flat projections in the horizontal plane (12), said flat projections (12) being recessed from the transverse edges (10c) of the longitudinal area (10).

[030] The projections (12) have through holes (121) arranged in line and near the free edge (12a) of said projections (12).

[031] The cutting fin (AC) comprises a flat rectangular plate, of equal length to the drag fin (AR), said cutting fin (AC) having a chamfered longitudinal edge (20a), forming a blade. In the middle portion of the cutting fin (AC) there are cutouts (21) parallel to the outer edge (20a) and spaced apart. The length of the cutouts (21) is equivalent to the width of the projections (12) of the drag fin (AR) and the interval between the cutouts (21) is equivalent to the interval between said projections (12). Petition 870260050565, dated 05 / 27 / 2026, pp. 18 / 21 5 / 5

[032] Near the opposite longitudinal edge (20b) to the chamfered edge (20a) through holes (22) are arranged linearly aligned and parallel with the longitudinal edge (20b) and with the cutouts (21).

[033] For assembling subsets of fins, the projection (12) of a first trailing fin (AR1) is fitted into the hollow cutout (21) of a first cutting fin (AC1), as shown in figure 6.

[034] Next, a second cutting blade (AC2) is positioned below the projections (12) of the first drag blade (AR1) fitted into the first cutting blade (AC1), said second cutting blade (AC2) whose blind longitudinal edge (20b) is contiguous to the first cutting blade (AC1). The projections (12) of a second drag blade (AR2) are fitted into the cutouts of this second cutting blade (AC2), as shown in figure 7. The subassemblies of cutting blades (AC) and drag blade (AR) are fixed to the core (110) of the stripping roller (100) by means of screws (P) that pass through the coincident holes (121) and (22).

[035] Optionally, supplementary fins (ACP) are provided, positioned over the drag fins (AR) of an assembled sub-assembly (which includes a cutting fin (AC) fitted into a drag fin (AR)). As shown in Figure 2B, the supplementary fin (ACP) has an “L” shape and holes (30) that are aligned with the holes (121) of the drag fins (AR) and holes (22) of the cutting fins (AC). The supplementary fins (ACP) have the function of reducing straw accumulation, and are described in documents BR202023008288, BR202023017241 and BR202024020446, from the same owner.
