Abstract

The present invention relates to waterless formulations, specifically the XStreme(r) 8750 series, designed to neutralize odors originating from hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans / thiols, and other organic sulfur-based compounds. The formulations are applicable to a wide range of environments, including wastewater treatment facilities, restaurants, and open areas affected by decomposition. The XStreme(r) products (#8750, #8751, #8752, #8753) consist of a highly concentrated, water-free blend of active ingredients that neutralize odors through an odor counteraction process. These formulations effectively mitigate odor complaints even in below-freezing temperatures, providing year-round functionality. The reaction of the XStreme(r) solution with malodorous molecules results in the formation of larger, lower vapor pressure molecules that are undetectable, thereby eliminating the undesirable odors.

Claims 1. A waterless odor neutralization composition comprising a blend of essential oils, wherein the composition is designed to neutralize odors originating from hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans / thiols, and other organic sulfur-based compounds, the composition further comprising a highly concentrated, water-free formulation that operates through an odor counteraction process.

The composition of claim 1, wherein the product formulation is effective for use in a wide variety of environments, including wastewater treatment facilities, transfer stations, livestock farms, pulp and paper mills, food processing plants, recycling centers, pumping stations, anoxic tanks, landfills, trash rooms, HVAC systems, hotels, and restaurants.

4. The composition of claim 1, wherein the composition functions effectively in below-freezing temperatures, providing year-round odor control in diverse climates.

5. The composition of claim 1, wherein the product works by reacting with malodorous molecules to form larger molecules with lower vapor pressure, which are undetectable by the human nose and thereby neutralize the odor.

6. The composition of claim 1, wherein the composition comprises a highly concentrated, water- free formulation that provides a long-lasting and effective solution for odor control in indoor and outdoor environments.

The composition of claim 1, wherein the essential oils are selected for their pleasant fragrance profiles, including but not limited to: ▪ XStreme #8750 Woodland Adventure, which has a woody fragrance; ▪ XStreme #8751 Berry Burst, which has a fruity fragrance; ▪ XStreme #8752 Tropical Island, which has a tropical fragrance; ▪ XStreme #8753 Eucalyptus and Lavender, which has a herbaceous fragrance.

8. The composition of claim 1, wherein the essential oils are derived from natural sources and provide an eco-friendly alternative to traditional chemical-based odor neutralization products.

A method of neutralizing odors in a contaminated airspace, comprising: (a) applying a composition according to claim 1 to the airspace, (b) allowing the composition to interact with malodorous molecules present in the airspace, (c) creating new molecules with lower vapor pressure that are undetectable by the human nose, thereby neutralizing the odor.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the application of the composition is performed by spraying a small volume of the composition, equivalent to 0.05 mL per sample, onto the airspace, allowing the product to remain for a sufficient amount of time to achieve odo r neutralization.

The method of claim 9, wherein the composition is evaluated for efficacy by panelist testing that measures the intensity, hedonic tone, and odor character of treated and untreated air samples, wherein the composition achieves an average hedonic tone of 1.4 to 1.8 and an intensity rating of 2.5 to 2.8 in sensory evaluations.

A method of evaluating the efficacy of an odor neutralization composition, comprising: (a) applying the composition to an untreated air sample, (b) allowing the composition to interact with malodorous molecules in the air sample, (c) conducting a sensory panel test with trained panelists to assess the intensity, hedonic tone, and odor character of the treated and untreated samples, (d) comparing the sensory properties of the treated and untreated samples to determine the effectiveness of the composition in neutralizing odors.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the panelists rate the intensity of the odors on a scale from 0 to 4, and the hedonic tone on a scale from -3 to +3, providing an objective measure of odor reduction and overall odor acceptability.

14. The composition of claim 1, wherein the essential oils in the composition are selected based on their ability to neutralize odors caused by decomposition, organic waste, and industrial emissions, providing a solution suitable for use in a wide range of industries.

15. The composition of claim 1, wherein the formulation is free from water, and does not require additional equipment or water sources for effective odor neutralization.
