Abstract
Description
[Name of Document] Specification [Title of the Invention] CLEANING METHOD [Technical Field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a cleaning method. [Background Art]
[0002] Spraying machines are commonly used to spray pesticides. Pesticides usually remain in spraying machines used for spraying pesticides. The use of the spraying machine with pesticide residues may cause a problem due to unintentional spray of pesticide residues. Such problem includes, for example, pesticide residues in harvested agricultural products exceed the standard value, or phytotoxicity on crops may occur if the pesticide is a herbicide. Therefore, it is desirable that the spraying machine used for spraying pesticides is properly cleaned, but known cleaning methods are not always complete, and new cleaning methods are required. In general, examples of the method for cleaning a pesticide spraying machine include a method in which an active ingredient is inactivated by a redox reaction (Patent Literature 1), a method in which an active ingredient is inactivated with an acid or an alkali (Non-Patent Literature 1), a method of cleaning with a surfactant (Non-Patent Literature 2) and the like. [0014] The pH of the present composition is 10 or more. The pH of the present composition is usually within a range of 10 to 15, and specifically 10.5, 11, 11.5, 12, 12.5, 13, 13.5, 14 and 14.5. The pH of the present composition is mainly determined by the amount of an alkali comprised in the present composition, namely, the concentration of the alkali in the present composition. The pH is measured by a conventional method using a test paper or an electric meter.
[0015] Examples of the alkali comprised in the present composition include an inorganic alkali and an organic alkali. [0018] In the present method, bringing the present composition into contact with the article includes both immersing the article itself in the present composition and placing the present composition inside the article. When the present composition is brought into contact with the article, the article may be brought into contact in a state where the present composition is flowing or the flow of the present composition stops. In either case, physical stimulation (friction, grinding, shaking) may be applied. The pressure during contact may be atmospheric pressure, or the pressure can be applied when the present composition is placed inside the article. The article is preferably rinsed with water before contact with the present composition.
[0019] When the article is a pesticide spraying machine, usually, a tank is located upstream, a hose and a pipe are located midstream in no particular order to each other, and a nozzle is located downstream. The above-mentioned upstream, midstream and downstream are usually the directions of the flow of the spray liquid when sprayed. The space through which the spray liquid moves when sprayed is called a spray line. In the present method, usually, the present composition is first present in the tank, and is discharged through the nozzle by natural fall or pressurization, and then the nozzle is closed, and the present composition allowed to stay the nozzle in the spray line for a certain period of time. The present composition is usually prepared by mixing a predetermined amount of an organic solvent and water, and an alkali in an amount that brings the pH 10 or more. In the present method, when the present composition is present in the tank, the present composition prepared in advance may be charged into the tank, or the present composition may be prepared inside the tank by charging an organic solvent, an alkali and water, respectively. Alternatively, the present composition can be prepared inside the tank by charging an organic solvent, an alkali-containing composition (premix formulation) and water, respectively. The order of charge of materials in the preparation of the present composition is not particularly limited, but water (part or all of the final required amount) is desirably present first. During preparation, agitation is usually performed to ensure that the ingredients are uniform.
[0020] When the organic solvent is water insoluble, it is possible to mix with a specific surfactant as an emulsifier to make it compatible with water. In this case, it is desirable to mix the organic solvent with the surfactant in advance.
[0021] The time for which the present composition is allowed to stay in the spray line is usually 1 to 48 hours, preferably 4 to 12 hours, and more preferably 6 to 8 hours. The spray line may be pressurized during all or part of that time, and the pressure is usually within a range of 10 to 100 PSI, and preferably 30 to 50 PSI. Some pesticide spraying machines have a function of circulating the inclusion liquid by flowing it back from the downstream to the upstream of the spray line (recirculation), and recirculation may be performed during part or all of that time. When the present composition is allowed to stay in the spray line, the spray line may be filled with the present composition in its entirety, or may be partially filled with the present composition. For example, the hose may be completely filled, but the tank may be nearly empty. After the present composition is allowed to stay in the spray line for a certain period of time, the present composition is discharged through the nozzle by natural fall or by pressurization. Thereafter, the spray line may be optionally rinsed with running water.
[0023] After cleaning in the present method, the residual value of the active ingredient in the article is less than before cleaning. The level to be achieved varies depending on the contact time between the active ingredient and the article, and between the present composition and the article. The residual rate is usually 0.1 to 50% of the rate before cleaning, and specific cleaning levels include cases where the residual rate is 0.2%, 0.3%, 0.5%, 1%, 2%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40% of the rate before cleaning. These levels may be confirmed by chemical analysis or by bioassay using test organisms.
[0024] Examples of the pesticide spraying machine to be cleaned in the present method include a backpack carbon dioxide gas sprayer, a backpack power sprayer, a boom sprayer, a speed sprayer, pesticide spraying drone and the like. In particular, a boom sprayer is preferable. The boom sprayer may be self-propelled or towed by a tractor. The scale of the pesticide spraying machine is not particularly limited, but is usually 1 L to 10,000 L, preferably 200 to 5,000 L, and more preferably 1,000 to 3,000 L, based on the tank capacity.
[0025] Examples of the active ingredients of pesticides in the present method include herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, safeners and the like. These active ingredients may be residues on the article, but independently, if the article is a pesticide spraying machine, they may also be sprayed by the spraying machine after cleaning. Examples of herbicides include the following: 2,3,6-TBA (2,3,6-trichlorobenzoic acid), 2,3,6-TBA-dimethylammonium, 2,3,6-TBA-lithium, 2,3,6-TBA-potassium, 2,3,6-TBA-sodium, 2,4-D, 2,4-D choline salt,
