Abstract
Description
EXERCISE MACHINE WITH ADJUSTABLE RESISTANCE AND SUPPORT MECHANISMSTECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present disclosure is directed generally to the field of exercise equipment. More particularly, the present disclosure is directed to a glute exercise machine.BACKGROUND
[0002] Exercise machines are widely used in both home and commercial settings to facilitate physical fitness and strength training. These machines typically provide a controlled environment for performing various exercises, allowing users to target specific muscle groups or engage in full-body workouts.
[0003] One common type of exercise machine is the resistance training machine, which utilizes a resistance force to challenge the user’s muscles and promote strength development. This resistance force can be provided in a variety of ways, such as through the use of weights, hydraulic systems, or elastic bands.
[0004] A Roman chair, also known as a hyperextension bench or hyperextension machine, is a particular piece of exercise equipment designed to strengthen and develop the muscles in the lower back, glutes, and hamstrings. It typically consists of a padded bench with a hip pad at one end and foot supports at the other. The user positions themselves on the bench facedown with their hips resting on the hip pad and their ankles secured under the foot supports.
[0005] The primary exercise performed on a Roman chair is the hyperextension or back extension. This involves bending forward at the waist and then lifting the torso back up to a straight or slightly hyperextended position. This movement targets the muscles of the lower back, especially the erector spinae, as well as the glutes and hamstrings.
[0006] Roman chairs are often used in strength training and rehabilitation programs to improve core strength, posture, and lower back stability. It's important to use proper form when using a Roman chair to avoid strain or injury to the lower back. Additionally, individuals with existing back issues or injuries should consult with a fitness professional or healthcare provider before incorporating this equipment into their workout routine.
[0007] While the Roman chair can be an effective piece of exercise equipment for strengthening the lower back, glutes, and hamstrings, there are some potential drawbacks or cons associated with its use:Limited Exercise Variation: The Roman chair is primarily designed for hyperextensions, using bodyweight only, so its exercise options are somewhat limited compared to other pieces of gym equipment, in particular that described in the present disclosure. While it effectively targets certain muscle groups, it may not provide the diversity of exercises that some individuals prefer for a well-rounded workout routine.Risk of Injury with Improper Form or Use: Using the Roman chair with incorrect form can put stress on the lower back and increase the risk of injury. It’s crucial to maintain proper body alignment and avoid overextending the lower back during hyperextensions. To progress on the Roman Chair, it requires grabbing external means of resistance but doing it with arms straight (the most comfortable and stable way), often the resistance weights will contact the floor due to the fact that most Roman Chair machine designs are relatively close to the floor.Alternative Options: Some people may prefer alternative exercises or equipment for targeting similar muscle groups without the potential stress on the lower back. Variations of deadlifts, stability ball exercises, or other lower back exercises might be preferred by certain individuals.
[0008] Despite the availability of these various types of exercise machines, there is a continuous demand for new and improved designs that can provide enhanced functionality, comfort, and safety for users. In particular, there is a need for exercise machines that can effectively combine the benefits of resistance training and flexion / extension movements, while also being adaptable to different user needs and preferences.SUMMARY
[0009] The present disclosure addresses these and other needs by providing an exercise machine that incorporates a base, a footplate, and thigh pads or thigh rest, a loading mechanism, and roller pads. The loading mechanism includes a loading arm, a resistance loading portion, and a handle mechanism. This configuration allows the user to engage in flexion and extension movements while holding onto the handle, thereby providing a method of overloading the exercise or adding external load in a user-friendly and comfortable way. The various components of the machine are designed to be adjustable and adaptable, allowing for a personalized and comfortable user experience.
[0010] When compared to the Roman Chair, for example, the present disclosure provides a benefit of adding an external load. Progression requires increased resistance to keep seeing benefits. The user must use external means of resistance (weight discs, dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells, resistance bands) to increase challenge and work with a load superior to his own body weight, which is not convenient, not comfortable, or user-friendly.
[0011] In addition, the machine is designed to be compact and easy to use, making it suitable for both home and commercial settings. The machine can be used by individuals of all fitness levels, from beginners to advanced users, and can be customized to meet the specific needs and goals of each user.
[0012] Overall, the present invention represents a significant advancement in the field of exercise machines, providing a unique and innovative solution that addresses the shortcomings of existing designs. The machine's combination of resistance training and flexion / extension movements, for example in hip and back flexion and extension movements. Along with its adjustable and adaptable features, the machine is a valuable tool for promoting physical fitness and strength development.

[0025] These and other aspects will now be described with reference to the following drawings in which:FIGS. 1 A-1B illustrate alternate side views of the exercise machine, in accordance with some examples herein;FIGS. 2A-2B illustrate front and rear views of the exercise machine, in accordance with some examples herein;FIG. 3 illustrates a top view of the exercise machine, in accordance with some examples herein; andFIG. 4 illustrates a perspective view of the exercise machine, in accordance with some examples herein.DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0026] The present disclosure pertains to an improved exercise machine, specifically designed for glute training. The machine comprises a base 102, designed to rest upon a floor, and an attached footplate 162. The footplate is elevated and adjustable in depth to accommodate different shin / tibia lengths, allowing users to perform exercises with their knees bent. This positioning places the user’s hamstrings in "active insufficiency," minimizing their involvement and focusing the exercise on the glutes.
[0027] The machine also includes a thigh rest 132, mounted to the base 102. This rest is designed to move between an extension position and a flexion position, facilitated by a user whose thigh is in contact with the thigh rest 132. The user engages their hamstrings, glutes and lower back muscles, and places at least one foot on the footplate 162.
[0028] A key feature of this machine is its loading mechanism 110, which includes a pivotally connected loading arm 111. This arm is designed for attaching at least one resistance force and runs parallel to the machine. It comprises a counterweight at one end to offset its weight when no additional weight is loaded onto it. At the other end, there is a handle mechanism 120, including a handle 122 for users to hold and operate the machine.
[0029] The loading arm also features a resistance loading portion 116 where users can load plate weights to increase resistance during training. Additionally, it has a weight storage portion located at the same position as the axis of rotation. This design allows plate weights to be readily accessible for loading but does not affect the resistance of the loading arm due to their location on the axis of rotation.
[0030] The handle mechanism 120 is adjustable in height to accommodate different users and can rotate freely within a defined angle range. This feature allows for automatic positioning based on the user's pulling action, creating a more natural path of motion.
[0031] In some examples, band pegs are integrated into the loading arm for adding elastic resistance from a band, providing variable resistance throughout the exercise motion. The loading mechanism and handle mechanism are elevated from the floor, allowing users to exercise with their arms straight and perform a full range of motion without the loading arm reaching a stopper.
[0032] The footplate is angled relative to the floor, ensuring that the user's ankles remain at 90 degrees or more while exercising. Other standard features, such as adjusting the height of the thighs pad or adjusting the roller pads of the feet, are also included in this machine.
[0033] The machine includes a base that rests on the floor, providing stability during exercise. Attached to the base is a footplate, which serves as a platform for the user to place their feet on.
[0034] One of the key features of this exercise machine is the thigh rest 132, which is mounted to the base. The thigh rest 132 is specifically designed to enable the user to move between an extension position and a flexion position while holding the handle of the handle mechanism. This movement is facilitated by the user, who’s thigh is in contact with the thigh rest 132 and places at least one foot on the footplate. By supporting the thighs with the rest and using the footplate as a support, the user can perform exercises that target the back, hamstrings glute muscles.
[0035] To provide resistance during the exercises, the exercise machine includes a loading mechanism. The loading mechanism consists of a loading arm that is pivotally connected to the base. The loading arm is designed to attach at least one resistance force, which can be adjusted according to the user's preference and fitness level. This allows the user to gradually increase the intensity of their workout as they progress.
[0036] The operation of the exercise machine involves the user moving between the extension and flexion positions while holding onto the handle. This movement engages the lower back, glutes, and hamstrings muscles and provides a challenging workout for the user. The resistance provided by the loading mechanism adds an additional level of difficulty, allowing the user to effectively strengthen and their lower back, glutes and hamstrings.
[0037] FIGS. 1 A-1B illustrate alternate side views of the exercise machine, in accordance with some examples herein. To illustrate the functionality of the exercise machine, consider the following example: A user starts by adjusting the resistance force on the loading arm to a comfortable level. They then rest their thigh on the thigh rest 132 and place their feet on the footplate. Holding onto the handle, they begin the exercise by moving from the extension position to the flexion position. The resistance provided by the loading mechanism addsresistance to the movement, making it more challenging. The user repeats this movement for a desired number of repetitions, gradually increasing the resistance as they progress.
[0038] The exercise machine, as described above, may comprise a loading mechanism 110. The loading mechanism 110 further may comprise a counterweight 112. The counterweight 112 is designed to apply an opposite force. This opposite force is approximately equal to the weight of the loading arm 111.
[0039] The counterweight 112 is integral to the loading arm 111, however, in some examples, the counterweight may be connected via a cable or chain system. As the user moves between the extension and flexion positions, the loading arm 111 pivots about its connection to the base 102. This movement causes the counterweight 112 to move in the opposite direction, applying a counterbalancing force that helps to offset the weight of the loading arm 111. In this way, the weight the user applies to the loading arm I l l is the effective weight the user lifts in operation of the exercise machine. Therefore, most of, or all of, the weight of the loading arm I l l is not included in the exercise.
[0040] Conversely, when the user moves to the flexion position, the loading arm 111 is lowered, and the counterweight 112 is raised within the housing.
[0041] In an alternative example, instead of a counterweight 112, the loading mechanism 110 may utilize a pneumatic or hydraulic system to provide the opposing force. The system may include a piston or cylinder arrangement that is connected to the loading arm 111. As the user moves between the extension and flexion positions, the piston or cylinder arrangement adjusts the resistance force accordingly, providing a smooth and controlled exercise experience.
[0042] Another alternative example may incorporate an adjustable resistance mechanism within the loading arm 111 itself. This mechanism could include a series of adjustable weights or resistance bands that can be added or removed to vary the resistance level. The user can easily adjust the resistance by adding or removing weights or adjusting the tension of the resistance bands, allowing for customization based on their fitness level and desired workout intensity. For example, the adjustable weights may comprise a weight stack connected to the loading arm by way of a cable. By moving a pin insertable into various positions of the weight stack, weights may be added or removed.
[0043] FIGS. 2A-2B illustrate front and rear views of the exercise machine, in accordance with some examples herein.
[0044] The exercise machine, as described above, may comprise a loading mechanism 110. The loading mechanism 110 further may comprise a weight storage portion 114. The weight storage portion 114 is located at the axis of rotation of the loading arm 111.
[0045] It is strategically positioned at the axis of rotation of the loading arm 111, ensuring optimal weight distribution and balance during exercise.
[0046] In one example, the weight storage portion 114 may consist of a series of weight plates that can be easily added or removed to adjust the resistance level. These weight plates may be standardized and interchangeable, allowing users to customize their workout intensity based on their individual fitness goals and capabilities.
[0047] For example, a user may choose to add more weight plates to increase the resistance and challenge their muscles further. Conversely, they can remove weight plates to decrease the resistance, making it suitable for beginners or individuals recovering from injuries.
[0048] Alternatively, the weight storage portion 114 may utilize a stackable weight system. This system consists of individual weight stacks that can be easily added or removed from the loading arm 111. Each weight stack may have a predetermined weight value, allowing users to select the desired resistance level by simply adding or removing the stacks.
[0049] To ensure safety and stability, the weight storage portion 114 may incorporate locking mechanisms or fasteners that securely hold the weights in place during exercise. This prevents any accidental dislodging or shifting of the weights, providing a secure and controlled workout experience.
[0050] Furthermore, the weight storage portion 114 may feature a visual indicator or markings to indicate the weight value of each plate or stack. This allows users to easily identify and track the amount of resistance they are using, ensuring consistent and progressive training.
[0051] The exercise machine, as described above, may comprise a resistance loading portion 114. The resistance loading portion 114 is configured to receive one or more of the following: weight plates, resistance bands, dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells, wearable weights, or adjustable weights.
[0052] The resistance loading portion 114 is designed to accommodate various types of resistance equipment, providing users with the flexibility to choose the most suitable option for their workout preferences and goals.
[0053] One example of a resistance option that can be used with the exercise machine is weight plates. The resistance loading portion 114 is equipped with a system that allows weight plates to be easily attached and detached, enabling users to adjust the resistance level according to their desired intensity. This feature is particularly beneficial for strength training exercises, as users can gradually increase the weight as they progress in their fitness journey.
[0054] Another resistance option that can be utilized with the exercise machine is resistance bands. The resistance loading portion 114 includes attachment points or hooks where resistancebands can be securely fastened. Resistance bands offer a different type of resistance compared to weight plates, as they provide constant tension throughout the range of motion. This makes them ideal for exercises that require dynamic movements and muscle activation.
[0055] Additionally, the exercise machine can accommodate dumbbells and kettlebells as part of the resistance loading portion 114. Users can easily place their dumbbells or kettlebells on designated holders or shelves, ensuring convenient access during their workout sessions. This feature is particularly advantageous for exercises that involve unilateral movements or require a specific grip, as users can easily switch between different weights as needed.
[0056] In addition to the aforementioned options, the resistance loading portion 114 can also support wearable weights or adjustable weights. Wearable weights, such as weighted vests or ankle weights, can be easily attached to the exercise machine, providing users with an added challenge during their workouts. Adjustable weights, such as adjustable dumbbells or barbells, offer the convenience of easily changing the resistance level without the need for additional equipment.
[0057] It should be noted that the resistance loading portion 114 is not limited to the examples provided above. Various other types of resistance equipment can be used with the exercise machine, depending on the user's preferences and specific workout requirements. The versatility of the resistance loading portion 114 allows users to customize their workouts and target different muscle groups effectively.
[0058] FIG. 3 illustrates a top view of the exercise machine, in accordance with some examples herein.
[0059] The exercise machine, as described above, may comprise a handle mechanism 120. The handle mechanism 120 further may comprise an axis of rotation. The axis of rotation is configured in such a way that it keeps the user's arms straight while the user is operating the exercise machine. However, the user can also hold the handles with their arms bent, or whatever the most comfortable position for them is.
[0060] This unique feature ensures proper form and alignment, maximizing the effectiveness of the exercise and reducing the risk of strain or injury.
[0061] To achieve this, the axis of rotation is positioned in a manner that aligns with the user's shoulder joint, allowing for a natural extension of the arms. By keeping the arms straight, the exercise machine promotes engagement of the targeted muscles and prevents unnecessary stress on the joints.
[0062] For example, when performing a pulling motion on the exercise machine, the user's arms remain fully extended throughout the movement. This not only activates the muscles inthe back and arms but also engages the core for stability. The axis of rotation acts as a guide, ensuring that the user maintains the correct arm position throughout the exercise.
[0063] In addition to the primary example, alternative configurations of the handle mechanism 120 can be implemented to accommodate different user preferences or specific exercise requirements. For instance, the axis of rotation can be adjustable, allowing users to customize the machine to their individual arm length or desired range of motion.
[0064] It should be noted that while the focus of this example is on maintaining the arms in a comfortable position during operation, the exercise machine may also include other features such as adjustable resistance levels, digital displays for tracking progress, or even integrated workout programs to cater to a wide range of fitness goals and abilities.
[0065] The exercise machine, as described above, may comprise a handle mechanism 120. The handle mechanism 120 further may comprise an adjustment mechanism 124.
[0066] This ensures that the user's arms remain straight throughout the exercise, promoting proper form and maximizing the effectiveness of the workout.
[0067] One example of the adjustment mechanism 124 may include a telescopic design, where the handle mechanism can be extended or retracted along the axis of rotation. This allows users to easily adjust the distance between the handles and the user's body, ensuring a comfortable and ergonomic grip.
[0068] In another example, the adjustment mechanism 124 may utilize a sliding mechanism. The handle mechanism can slide horizontally or vertically along a track, allowing users to position the handles at the optimal distance from their body. This sliding mechanism can be easily locked into place to ensure stability during the exercise. The sliding mechanism may be in the form of a convention pull pin mechanism common to exercise equipment.
[0069] Additionally, the adjustment mechanism 124 may incorporate a rotational feature. This allows users to rotate the handle mechanism around the axis of rotation, providing different grip positions and angles. By adjusting the rotation, users can target specific muscle groups and vary their workout routine.
[0070] Furthermore, the adjustment mechanism 124 may include a locking mechanism to secure the handle mechanism in the desired position. This ensures that the handles remain fixed during the exercise, preventing any unwanted movement or instability.
[0071] In an alternative example, the adjustment mechanism 124 may utilize a digital interface. Users can input their height and arm length into the machine, and the handle mechanism automatically adjusts to the optimal position based on these measurements. This eliminates the need for manual adjustments and provides a more user-friendly experience.
[0072] Another alternative example of the adjustment mechanism 124 may incorporate sensors or pressure pads. These sensors can detect the user's arm length and adjust the handle mechanism accordingly. This automated adjustment system ensures that the user's arms remain straight throughout the exercise, even if they change their grip or position during the workout.
[0073] FIG. 4 illustrates a perspective view of the exercise machine, in accordance with some examples herein.
[0074] The exercise machine, as described above, may comprise a footplate 162. The footplate 162 is angled relative to the base 102. The angle is such that the user's ankles, during the operation of the exercise machine, remain at approximately 90 degrees.
[0075] This angle is carefully chosen to ensure that the user's ankles maintain an approximate 90-degree position while operating the machine. By keeping the ankles at this angle, the exercise machine promotes proper alignment and stability during the workout.
[0076] To achieve this, the footplate 162 may be adjustable, allowing users to customize the angle according to their comfort and preference. This adjustability feature enhances the versatility of the exercise machine, accommodating users with different body types and fitness levels.
[0077] In addition to the adjustable footplate, the exercise machine may also include markings or indicators on the footplate surface. These markings can serve as visual guides for users to easily set and maintain the desired angle. By aligning their feet with the markings, users can ensure that their ankles are positioned correctly throughout the exercise routine.
[0078] Furthermore, the footplate 162 may incorporate a non-slip surface or texture to enhance grip and prevent any accidental slips or movements during the workout. This feature adds an extra layer of safety, allowing users to focus on their exercise without worrying about their feet sliding or losing stability.
[0079] For example, considering a specific example of the exercise machine with a footplate 162. The footplate is adjustable and can be set at different angles. A user prefers a more challenging workout and sets the footplate at a steeper angle of 45 degrees. As the user operates the exercise machine, his ankles remain at approximately 90 degrees, providing him with the desired level of stability and engagement for his lower body muscles.
[0080] In an alternative example, the exercise machine may feature a footplate 162 that automatically adjusts its angle based on the user's body position. This can be achieved through the use of sensors or a motorized mechanism. The sensors detect the user's ankle position, and the motorized mechanism adjusts the footplate angle accordingly to maintain the desired 90-degree alignment. This automated adjustment feature eliminates the need for manual adjustments, providing a seamless and convenient user experience.
[0081] The exercise machine, as described above, further may comprise an elevated adjustable footplate 142. The elevated adjustable footplate 142 is attached to the base 102 of the exercise machine. The elevated adjustable footplate 142 is configured to be used by the user with bent knees. The elevated adjustable footplate 142 may further comprise a pair of horizontal rollers supported by a vertical frame member.
[0082] This footplate is designed to provide users with the option to perform exercises with bent knees, offering a versatile workout experience.
[0083] The elevated adjustable footplate 142 is securely attached to the base 102 of the exercise machine, ensuring stability and safety during use. By being adjustable, the footplate can be positioned at different heights to accommodate users of varying heights and leg lengths. This adjustability allows for a customized and comfortable workout for individuals with different body proportions. In particular, the footplate 142 adjusts in height, and in depth or distance towards the thigh pads 132. The user may hook his / her feet between the pair of horizontal rollers to provide support and improve safety while using the exercise machine.
[0084] When using the elevated adjustable footplate 142, users can perform exercises with bent knees, targeting specific muscle groups such as the glutes. This feature adds variety to the exercise routine and allows for a more comprehensive lower body workout.
[0085] For example, a user can position the footplate at a distance relative the thigh pads 132 that allows placing his foot against the foot plate while having his knees at about 90 degrees angle and perform exercises with bent knees. This exercise engages the glutes more intensely compared to traditional extension exercises with straight legs.
[0086] The exercise machine, as described above, may comprise a loading mechanism 110 and a handle mechanism 120. These mechanisms are arranged in such a way that they are elevated. The elevation of the loading mechanism 110 and the handle mechanism 120 is designed to allow the user to operate the exercise machine with straight arms. This operation is possible during both extension and flexion of the exercise machine (e.g., of the hip and back muscles).
[0087] The footplate is attached to the base 102 of the exercise machine, allowing the user to position their feet comfortably during the workout.
[0088] The elevated adjustable footplate 142 is designed to accommodate users with bent knees, providing a stable and secure platform for their feet. This feature is particularly beneficial to isolate the glute muscles to a varying degree, the more the knees are bent the moreisolated the glute muscles are. By having an adjustable footplate, users can customize the height, angle and distance relative to the thigh pads to suit their individual needs and preferences.
[0089] The footplate is wide and high enough to allow the user to have a feet stance that is wider than hip with apart, and if the footplate is high enough, there is no need for having to adjust it in height, although in some examples, the footplate may be adjustable in height.
[0090] In addition to the adjustable height, the footplate can also be adjusted for angle. For example, a user may prefer to adjust the angle of the knees to better activate muscles during the motion of exercise. This allows users to modify the footplate’s tilt to accommodate different exercise variations or target specific muscle groups. For example, a user may tilt the footplate slightly forward to emphasize the activation of the calf muscles during a calf raise exercise.
[0091] Furthermore, the elevated adjustable footplate 142 can be used in conjunction with the loading mechanism 110 and the handle mechanism 120. The user can maintain a straight-arm position while operating the exercise machine, regardless of whether they are extending or flexing the machine. This combination of features provides a versatile and efficient workout experience for users of various fitness levels and goals.
[0092] Alternative examples of the elevated adjustable footplate 142 could include additional features such as a projection to hold the heels of the user, preventing the feet slipping. The foot straps or grips to enhance stability and prevent slippage during exercises. The footplate could also be designed with a textured surface to provide better traction for users. Additionally, the footplate could be detachable or foldable for easy storage and transportation.
[0093] The exercise machine, as described above, further may comprise an adjustable roller pad 152. The adjustable roller pads 152 is attached to the base 102 of the exercise machine. The roller pad 152 is designed to be adjustable, allowing users to customize the position and angle of the pad to suit their individual needs.
[0094] One example of how the adjustable roller pad 152 can be used is when performing an exercise, the user can adjust the roller pad to a position that aligns with their knees, providing stability and reducing the risk of injury. By having the roller pad in the correct position, users can focus on engaging their glute muscles without worrying about discomfort or strain on their knees.
[0095] The adjustable roller pad 152 can be made from a variety of materials, such as foam or gel, to provide cushioning and support. It can be attached to the base 102 of the exercise machine using adjustable straps or a locking mechanism, allowing for easy installation and removal.
[0096] Alternative examples of the adjustable roller pad 152 could include additional features such as built-in sensors to track the user's roller position and provide real-time feedback on their form. This could be particularly useful for individuals who are new to exercising or those recovering from roller injuries, as it would help them to ensure they are performing exercises correctly and safely.
[0097] Another alternative example could involve the use of interchangeable roller pads with different levels of firmness or thickness. This would allow users to customize the level of support provided by the roller pad based on their individual preferences and needs. In some examples, the pads can be circular or flat. In some examples, the pads can be provided without any adjustment mechanism for a simpler design.
[0098] The exercise machine, as described above, may comprise an thigh rest 132. The thigh rest 132 further may comprise an adjustment mechanism 136.
[0099] It is positioned in a way that allows the user to rest their thigh against it while performing exercises. The thigh rest 132 may be made of a cushioned material to ensure a comfortable experience for the user.
[0100] To cater to different body types and preferences, the thigh rest 132 is equipped with an adjustment mechanism 136. This adjustment mechanism 136 allows the user to modify the position and angle of the thigh rest 132 according to their individual needs. By adjusting the thigh rest 132, users can find the most suitable position that provides optimal support and comfort during their workout.
[0101] The adjustment mechanism 136 can be operated easily, allowing users to make quick and hassle-free adjustments. It may include features such as levers, knobs, or buttons that enable users to lock the thigh rest 132 in their desired position securely. The adjustment mechanism 136 ensures that the thigh rest 132 remains stable and does not move during the exercise, providing a safe and reliable support system for the user.
[0102] For example, a user with a shorter leg may prefer to have the thigh rest 132 positioned lower to align better with their hips, such that their hips are slightly above of the thigh pads, therefore, the user will have the freedom to go into flexion and extension without a restriction. They can use the adjustment mechanism 136 to lower the thigh rest 132 to their desired height. On the other hand, a user with a longer leg may find it more comfortable to have the thigh rest 132 positioned higher. They can use the adjustment mechanism 136 to raise the thigh rest 132 accordingly. This flexibility allows users of different body types to customize the exercise machine to their specific needs.
[0103] In addition to the adjustment mechanism 136, there can be alternative ways to modify the position of the thigh rest 132. One alternative could be a telescopic mechanism that allows the thigh rest 132 to slide up and down along a track. This would provide a smooth and continuous adjustment range for the user. Another alternative could be a system of interchangeable cushions with varying heights. Users can simply swap out the cushions to achieve their desired position for the thigh rest 132. Another way to adjust the heigh is using a pull pin that locks into the holes of a frame that adjust in height.
[0104] Furthermore, the adjustment mechanism 136 can have different designs depending on the desired level of adjustability. It could be a manual adjustment mechanism where the user physically moves the thigh rest 132 to the desired position. Alternatively, it could be an automated adjustment mechanism that is controlled electronically, allowing users to adjust the thigh rest 132 with the push of a button or through a digital interface. In one example, a gascylinder that is set to alleviate / offset the weight of the actual thigh pads and the steel structure they bolt into is provided to make the maneuver of adjusting the thigh rest easier, this applies to all adjustable parts of the exercise machine.
[0105] Although the invention has been described in terms of preferred examples as set forth above, it should be understood that these examples are illustrative only and that the claims are not limited to those examples. Those skilled in the art will be able to make modifications and alternatives in view of the disclosure which are contemplated as falling within the scope of the appended claims. Each feature disclosed or illustrated in the present specification may be incorporated in the invention, whether alone or in any appropriate combination with any other feature disclosed or illustrated herein.
