Description

Connection coupling for discharging a fluid into a tank

[0001] The subject of the present invention is a connection coupling for discharging a fluid into a tank.

[0002] Connection couplings are used in particular in what is known as pressure refueling, where a closed system is created between a fluid reservoir and the tank by connecting the connection coupling to the connection piece in an essentially fluid-tight manner. The fluid can then be introduced into the tank at relative overpressure without the fluid escaping into the environment at the transition between the connection coupling and the connection piece. Connection couplings of this type are used, for example, for dispensing compressed natural gas (CNG) or compressed hydrogen (H2). Furthermore, the connection couplings can be used for both liquids and liquefied gases, for example for dispensing liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), liquefied natural gas (LNG) or liquefied hydrogen (LH2).Especially for refuelling motor vehicles it is desirable that the connection couplings are easy and safe for the user to handle.

[0003] From the document WO 03 / 074923, a connecting coupling is known which is placed with its front end onto a connecting piece, whereby in order to lock it with the connecting piece and to actuate a main valve, a lever mounted on the housing must be actuated by rotating it around a vertical axis. The establishment of the connection with this type of connecting coupling requires a certain amount of practice, since the actuation of the lever generates a tilting moment. which runs perpendicular to an axis along which the connecting coupling is placed on the connecting piece.

[0004] Based on this, the object of the present invention is to provide a connecting coupling of the above-mentioned type, which enables simpler and more reliable operation for the user. This object is achieved by the features of the independent claims. Advantageous embodiments are specified in the subclaims.

[0005] The invention accordingly relates to a connection coupling for discharging a fluid into a tank. The connection coupling comprises a housing, a first fluid connection which can be connected to a fluid supply line, a second fluid connection which can be connected to a connection piece of the tank, a channel leading through the housing for conveying the fluid from the first to the second fluid connection, a main valve arranged in the channel, a coupling device for establishing and releasing a connection between the connection coupling and the connection piece, and an actuating device for actuating the coupling device and the main valve. According to the invention, the actuating device has a gripping element which at least partially surrounds an outer section of the housing. The gripping element, together with the outer section of the housing, is designed so that it can be grasped by a user's hand.Furthermore, the handle element is rotatable relative to the outer portion about a rotation axis and is coupled to the coupling device and the main valve in such a way that rotation of the handle element causes actuation of the coupling device and the main valve.

[0006] First, some terms used in the present disclosure will be explained. The connection coupling can be connected to a connection piece of a tank. For this purpose, the second fluid connection is placed onto the connection piece. A fluid-tight connection is preferably established between the connection piece and the second fluid connection. The connection coupling can be designed in particular for pressure refueling the tank. The fluids to be dispensed can be, for example, LPG, LNG, CNG and / or H2. The coupling device serves to establish the connection; in particular, the coupling device can serve to lock the second fluid connection on the connection piece in order to prevent unintentional release after the connection has been established. Actuation of the coupling device can in particular comprise locking the coupling device or releasing the coupling device. Actuation of the main valve can in particular comprise opening the main valve or closing the main valve.

[0007] The invention therefore proposes using a gripping element which surrounds an outer section of the housing and can be securely grasped by a user's hand together with the outer section, to simultaneously actuate the coupling device and the main valve by rotating the gripping element relative to the housing. The gripping element can be securely held in the hand together with the outer section during actuation without, as in the above-mentioned prior art, it being necessary to operate a lever with the other hand, which exerts a tilting moment on the housing. This allows the connecting coupling to be held more securely and comfortably during attachment and during subsequent actuation of the coupling device. It has also been shown that the coupling device can be actuated intuitively even for inexperienced users.

[0008] In one embodiment, the axis of rotation is aligned along a mounting direction along which the second fluid connection can be placed onto the connecting piece. The mounting direction typically corresponds to an axial direction of the fluid connection or the connecting piece. In particular, the axis of rotation can have an angular deviation from the mounting direction that is less than 30°, preferably less than 15°. In particular, the axis of rotation can be substantially parallel to the mounting direction. This enables the user to press the connection coupling against the connecting piece substantially along the axis of rotation and, at the same time, to actuate the handle element by rotating it about the axis of rotation.

[0009] In one embodiment, the actuating device comprises at least one grooved cam connected to the handle element in a rotationally fixed manner and at least one actuating pin. The grooved cam can interact with the actuating pin in such a way that the actuating pin is displaced relative to the handle element upon rotation of the handle element along the axis of rotation in order to actuate at least one of the coupling device and the main valve. The term grooved cam refers to a groove, depression, or cutout formed on the handle element into which the actuating pin can engage, wherein the actuating pin is moved relative to the handle element upon rotation of the handle element and thereby runs along the grooved cam. If the grooved cam runs at least partially along the axis of rotation, the actuating pin can be displaced along the axis of rotation by the rotation of the handle element. It has been shown that a displacement of the actuating pin along the rotational axis achieved by the interaction of the grooved cam and the actuating pin can be utilized in a structurally simple and reliable manner to actuate the main valve and the coupling device. The grooved cam can be formed, in particular, on an inner side of the handle element. The inner side faces in the direction of the rotational axis of the handle element. The handle element can be formed in one piece, with the grooved curve being formed in the one-piece handle element. A grooved curve can also be formed in one or more separate components, which can be connected to the handle element in a rotationally fixed manner. Such a separate component is also referred to below as a grooved curve ring.

[0010] In one embodiment, the at least one grooved curve comprises a first grooved curve and a second grooved curve. The at least one actuating pin can additionally comprise a first actuating pin and a second actuating pin. The first actuating pin can interact with the first grooved curve to actuate the coupling device, wherein the second actuating pin can interact with the second grooved curve to actuate the main valve. If the coupling device and the main valve are actuated by separate actuating pins or grooved curves, it is possible to actuate the main valve and the coupling device independently of one another and, in particular, with a time offset from one another. For this purpose, the grooved curves can be configured such that the respective actuating pins are displaced along the axis of rotation in different angular sections relative to a rotation of the handle element.

[0011] In one embodiment, the first actuating pin is designed to transmit a movement to a sliding sleeve, wherein the sliding sleeve is designed to lock the second fluid connection to the connecting piece upon movement in a first direction and to release the lock upon movement in a second direction opposite to the first direction. The locking can be effected in a basically known manner with the aid of locking elements movable in the radial direction. (see for example EP 3 767 153 Bl) , where the radial direction is a Direction is perpendicular to an axial direction of the connection piece or the second fluid connection.

[0012] In one embodiment, a locking element is designed to prevent the sliding sleeve from moving along the first direction, wherein the locking element enables movement of the sliding sleeve in the first direction when the second fluid connection is placed on the connecting piece. This has the advantage that actuation of the handle element is blocked, since the sliding sleeve, and thus also the first actuating pin, cannot be moved along the axis of rotation as long as the second fluid connection is not placed on the connecting piece. This also prevents undesired opening of the main valve, since the blockage of the handle element also prevents the second actuating pin from being moved to actuate the main valve.

[0013] In one embodiment, the sliding sleeve is pre-tensioned in the first direction by a return element. In this case, the sliding sleeve can be moved automatically in the first direction as soon as the second fluid connection is placed on the connecting piece and the movement of the sliding sleeve is thereby released. It can be provided that the sliding sleeve and the actuating pin are axially coupled to one another, so that a movement of the sliding sleeve in the first direction is transmitted to the actuating pin. If the actuating pin is moved in the first direction together with the sliding sleeve when placing the connection coupling on the connecting piece, a torque can be exerted on the handle element and thus an automatic rotation of the handle element. It is then no longer necessary for the user to actively rotate the handle element by applying a torque when placing it on. Rather, The rotation occurs automatically during or after the second fluid connection is attached, thus increasing user comfort. If the user grasps the handle element and holds it firmly while placing the connection coupling onto the connecting piece, they will feel the torque acting on the handle element. This automatically prompts the user to perform or allow the required rotation of the handle element and simultaneously teaches them how the handle element should be operated in the subsequent process.

[0014] In one embodiment, the main valve is biased into a closed position by a return element. Furthermore, the second actuating pin for actuating the main valve can be displaceable against a return force of the return element. If the second actuating pin is displaceable against the force of the return element, the user, holding the handle element in their hand, can open the main valve in a controlled manner by applying a corresponding torque.

[0015] In one embodiment, the first groove curve and the second groove curve are designed such that the actuation of the coupling device and the actuation of the main valve occur in mutually different rotation angle ranges of the handle element. In particular, the handle element can have an initial rotation position in which the connection between the connecting coupling and the connecting piece is released and the main valve is closed. Furthermore, the handle element can have an end rotation position in which the connection between the connecting coupling and the connecting piece is established and the main valve is opened. In a first rotation angle range, which can extend from the initial rotation position up to an angle between 0° and 90°, it can be provided that the coupling device is actuated, to create a lock with the connecting piece. The first rotation angle range can extend in particular up to an angle between 4° and 45°, more particularly between 8° and 14°. An intermediate angle range can be provided which adjoins the first rotation angle range. The intermediate angle range can extend, starting from the end of the rotation angle range, over an additional angle which lies between 1° and 90°, in particular between 5° and 45°, more particularly between 10° and 24°. It can be provided that no actuation of the clutch device and no actuation of the main valve takes place in the intermediate angle range. Furthermore, a second rotation angle range can be provided which, starting from the end of the first rotation angle range or - if present - starting from the end of the intermediate angle range, extends over an additional angle which lies between 1° and 180°, in particular between 5° and 45°, more particularly between 10° and 32°.It can be provided that the main valve is actuated in the second rotation angle range to cause the main valve to open. For example, the first rotation angle range can extend over 14° from the initial rotation position. The intermediate angle range can then extend over a further 24° (i.e., from the initial rotation position to 38°). The second rotation angle range can then extend over a further 32° (i.e., from the initial rotation position to 70°).

[0016] The connecting coupling may further comprise a venting channel with a venting valve for venting a section of the channel. One of the grooved curves may interact with one of the actuating pins such that the actuating pin is displaced relative to the handle element upon rotation of the handle element along the rotation axis in order to actuate the venting valve. The grooved curve may the second grooved curve and the actuating pin the second actuating pin . It is also possible that a separate grooved curve and a separate actuating pin are provided for actuating the vent valve . The design described above enables the simple and reliable reduction of excess pressure which can arise, for example, after the connecting coupling has been placed on the connecting piece within the channel when excess pressure in the tank is transferred to the channel or which can build up, for example, after a refueling process after the main valve has been closed within the channel . Safe pressure reduction is important in order to prevent the excess pressure from releasing suddenly when the connecting piece is placed on or removed and causing uncontrolled mechanical acceleration of the connecting coupling .

[0017] The handle element can be rotatable from the initial rotational position to the final rotational position in which the connection between the connecting coupling and the connecting piece is established and the main valve is opened. Furthermore, the grooved curve and the actuating pin can be designed such that the handle element, during a rotation from the initial rotational position to the final rotational position, passes through a venting angle range in which the venting valve is opened and the main valve is closed. The venting valve can be closed, in particular when the handle element is rotated in the opening direction before the main valve is opened. Furthermore, the venting valve can be opened when the handle element is rotated in the closing direction after the main valve is closed. The venting angle range can lie within the aforementioned intermediate angle range or extend beyond the intermediate angle range.

[0018] The handle element can have a viewing window, wherein the outer section of the housing comprises a first information element which is visible through the viewing window when the handle element is in a first rotational position, wherein the outer section of the housing comprises a second information element which is visible through the viewing window when the handle element is in a second rotational position. The first rotational position can in particular be a position in which the main valve is closed. In this case, the first information element can be assigned the information that the main valve is closed and no fluid is being released. The second rotational position can be a position in which the main valve is open. In this case, the second information element can be assigned the information that the main valve is open and fluid is being released. The information elements can, for example, display a color, a letter, and / or a number. Additional information elements may be present, each assigned to a different rotation position.

[0019] In one embodiment, the main valve comprises a valve body which is urged into a closed position by a return element and which can be moved into an open position by the actuating device against a return force of the return element. The connecting coupling can have a damping element which interacts with the valve body in such a way that a movement of the valve body into the closed position is dampened. The damping element can reduce the force with which the valve body is pressed against the valve seat during the closing process. It has been shown that this can achieve a significantly smoother closing behavior, thereby reducing material wear on the valve body and the sealing seat. In addition, any closing force exerted by the return element on the actuating device is transmitted to the actuating device in a smoother manner during the closing process, which increases user-friendliness.

[0020] The idea explained above of providing a damping element which dampens a movement of the valve body into the closed position may have an independent inventive character without it being necessary for the actuating device to have the handle element described above which at least partially surrounds an outer section of the housing and is designed together with the outer section of the housing to be grasped by a user's hand, wherein the handle element is rotatable about an axis of rotation relative to the outer section of the housing and is coupled to the coupling device and the main valve in such a way that a rotation of the handle element effects an actuation of the coupling device and the main valve.

[0021] In one embodiment, the damping element is deflected against a restoring force during movement of the valve body into the closed position. The damping element can comprise a spring element or be made of an elastic or flexible material.

[0022] The main valve may further comprise a valve rod connected to the valve body, wherein the damping element is compressed between the valve rod and a portion of the housing during movement of the valve body into the closed position.

[0023] The invention is explained below using exemplary Embodiments are explained with reference to the attached drawings. They show: Figure 1: a three-dimensional side view of a connection coupling according to the invention before establishing a connection with a connection piece; Figure 2 : a side view of the connection coupling of the figure 1 after placing the connecting coupling on the connection step; Figure 3: a side sectional view of the connection coupling of Figure 1 before making a connection with the connection piece; Figure 4: a side sectional view of the connection coupling of Figure 2 after establishing a connection with the connection piece; Figure 5: the view of Figure 1, the handle element not being shown; Figure 6: Partial elements of the connecting coupling of Figure 1 in the position shown in Figure 5; Figure 7: the view of Figure 2, the handle element not being shown; Figure 8: Partial elements of the connecting coupling of Figure 1 in the position shown in Figure 7; Figure 9 : the sub-elements shown in Figures 6 and 8 after opening the main valve. Figure 10: a side sectional view of the connection coupling of Figure 1 after opening the main valve; Figure 11: a side sectional view of the connection coupling of Figure 1 after opening of the main valve along a sectional plane which is perpendicular to the sectional plane of Figure 10;

[0024] Figure 1 shows a connection coupling according to the invention in a three-dimensional side view before establishing a connection to a connection piece 9. The connection coupling is designed for the discharge of compressed hydrogen. The connection coupling comprises a housing 10 with a rear housing part 11 and a front housing part 14. On the rear housing part 11 there is a first fluid connection (not visible in Figure 1) for connection to a fluid supply line. A second fluid connection 18 is formed at an outlet end of the front housing part 14. The housing 10 of the connection coupling extends along an axial direction of the second fluid connection 18. The connection coupling can be connected to the connection piece 9 by the second fluid connection 18 being placed onto the connection piece 9 along its axial direction.

[0025] Furthermore, the connection coupling comprises an actuating device 40 with a gripping element 41. The gripping element 41 surrounds an outer portion of the housing 10 and is designed to be rotatable relative to the housing 10. A rotational axis of the gripping element 41 is aligned along the axial direction of the second fluid connection 18. A user can grasp the gripping element 41 and the outer portion of the housing 10 located radially inward relative to the gripping element 41 with one hand and in this way simply push it onto the connection piece 9. By rotating the gripping element 41, the user can then actuate a coupling device, a main valve and a vent valve of the connection coupling, which is explained in detail below. Since a Since the axis of rotation of the handle element corresponds to the direction along which the connection coupling is placed on the connection piece, no tilting moments arise relative to the axial extension of the connection piece 9, which makes operation easier.

[0026] The handle element 41 further comprises a viewing window 48, below which an information element applied to the outer portion of the housing 10 is visible. In the position shown in Figure 1, the information element indicates that the main valve is in a closed position.

[0027] Figure 2 shows a side view of the connecting coupling of Figure 1 after the connecting coupling has been placed on the connecting piece 9. During the placement, a front end of the connecting piece 9 was inserted into a receptacle of the fluid connection 18. This process is explained in more detail below with reference to Figures 3 and 4.

[0028] Figure 3 shows a side sectional view of the connection coupling of Figure 1 before establishing a connection with the connection piece 9. In this view it can be seen that the housing 10 has further housing parts 12, 13 and 15. In addition, the first fluid connection 17 can be seen, which can be connected to a fluid supply line. The first fluid connection 17 merges into a channel 19 which extends through the housing 10 or through the housing parts 12, 13, 15 to the second fluid connection 18 in order to release the compressed hydrogen through a check valve (not shown) into a tank connected to the connection piece 9.

[0029] In the channel 19 there is a main valve 20 with a valve body 21 and a valve seat 22. In the state shown in Figure 3, the main valve 20 is in a Closed position in which the valve body 21 lies sealingly against the valve seat 22. In this closed position, the valve body 21 separates the channel 19 into a pressurised sub-channel 19' and a pressure-free sub-channel 19''. The valve body 21 is urged into the closed position by a closing spring 24. Also connected to the valve body 21 is a valve rod 25, to the front end of which a damping element 26 is fastened. When the valve body 21 moves into the closed position, the damping element 26 comes into contact with a housing part 13, as shown in Figure 3, and is compressed by the force of the closing spring, as a result of which the valve body 21 does not hit the valve seat 22 abruptly at the end of the closing movement, but comes to rest gently on the valve seat 22.

[0030] In the view of Figure 3 it can also be seen that the actuating device 40, in addition to the grip element 41, comprises a grooved cam ring 42 which is connected to the grip element 41 in a rotationally fixed manner. The grooved cam ring 42 has a first grooved cam 45 and a second grooved cam 46, which can be seen as openings in the sectional view of Figure 3. A first actuating pin 43 engages in the first grooved cam 45 and a second actuating pin 44 engages in the second grooved cam 46. The course of the grooved cams can be seen in Figures 6 and 8 and is explained in more detail below. Each of the grooved cams 45, 46 has a corresponding grooved cam on a side of the grooved cam ring 42 which is opposite the axis of rotation with respect to the axis of rotation. The actuating pin 44 extends through the interior of the housing 10 and engages with its ends in the grooved curve 46 and the opposite corresponding grooved curve. The actuating pin 43 engages only in the grooved curve 45, with a corresponding actuating pin 43' protruding opposite it relative to the rotation axis. which engages in the corresponding groove curve 45'. Upon rotation of the handle element, the actuating pins 44, 43, 43' are displaced along the axis of rotation in order to actuate the main valve 20, a vent valve 23 and a coupling device 30.

[0031] The coupling device 30 is located at a downstream end (with respect to the fluid flow) of the housing 10 and comprises a sliding sleeve 34 which is urged downstream by a return element 33, four spherically shaped locking elements 31 and a blocking member 32 which is also prestressed in a downstream direction by a return element. In the state shown in Figure 3, the locking elements 31 are located in a recess formed in the housing part 15 and also engage in a recess of the sliding sleeve 34, wherein at least some of the locking elements 31 are prevented from moving radially inward by the blocking member 32. In this way, the locking elements 31 prevent a downstream movement of the sliding sleeve 34.

[0032] The connecting coupling further comprises a poppet valve 50, which is urged into a closed position by a return element 51. In the state shown in Figure 3, the poppet valve 50 is in the closed position and bears sealingly against a valve seat. At its downstream end, the poppet valve 50 has a tubular extension 52 through which the medium is passed when the poppet valve 50 is open.

[0033] The vent valve 23 serves to discharge any excess pressure prevailing in the partial channel 19' ' into a collecting container via a vent channel 16. The vent valve 23 is in an open position in the state shown in Figure 3. The vent valve is coupled to the main valve 20 and is thus also actuated by the actuating pin 44.

[0034] Figure 4 shows a side sectional view of the connection coupling of Figure 1 after a connection has been made to the connection piece 9. When the second fluid connection 18 is placed on the connection piece 9, the downstream end of the pipe extension 52 engages in a sealing manner in a receptacle of the connection piece 9 and comes to rest on a stop formed in the receptacle. Upon further movement of the connection coupling in the direction of the connection piece 9, the pipe extension 52 is moved upstream together with the spear member 32 relative to the housing part 15. As a result, the poppet valve 50 is lifted from its sealing seat and thereby moved into an open position. In addition, the displacement of the blocking member 32 allows the locking elements 31 to move radially inwards and thus enable a downstream movement of the sliding sleeve 34.Since the sliding sleeve 34 is forced downstream by the return element 33, the sliding sleeve 34 is displaced automatically. The actuating pins 43, 43', which are connected to the sliding sleeve 34, are thereby also displaced upstream. The actuating pins run along the grooved curve 45 (or the corresponding grooved curve 45'), causing the cam ring 42 and the gripping element 41, which is connected thereto in a rotationally fixed manner, to rotate.

[0035] Figure 4 shows that the position of the actuating pin 44 has not changed due to the process of placing it on the connecting piece 9. Therefore, the main valve 20 is still in a closed position and the vent valve 23 is still in an open position.

[0036] Figures 5 to 8 serve to further illustrate the states shown in Figures 3 and 4. Figure 5 shows the view of Figure 1, wherein the handle element has been omitted to illustrate the grooved cam ring 42. Figure 6 shows the grooved cam ring 42 with the grooved cams 45, 46 and the actuating pins 43, 44 engaging therein in a side view. Figures 5 and 6 show the state before the connecting coupling is placed on the connecting piece 9. It can be seen that in this state the actuating pins 43, 44 rest against an initial region of the respective grooved cam 45, 46. The grooved cam 45 has a first grooved cam section 45a extending from the initial region, which encloses a 45° angle with the rotation axis 47. A curved section 45b adjoining section 45a forms a 90° angle with the rotation axis 47.The groove curve 46 comprises a groove curve section 46a extending from the initial area, which is aligned at a 90° angle to the rotation axis 47 and a groove curve section 46b which is aligned at a 45° angle to the rotation axis 47.

[0037] Figures 7 and 8 correspond to Figures 5 and 6, whereby, in contrast to Figures 5 and 6, the state after the connection coupling has been placed on the connection piece 9 is shown. As already explained above, the placement process causes the sliding sleeve 34 (due to its pretension by the return element 33) to pull the actuating pin 43 downstream. Due to the inclined position of the grooved curve section 45a relative to the rotational axis 47 at a 45° angle, a torque is exerted on the grooved curve ring 42 about the rotational axis 47. The torque can be dimensioned such that a user is assisted in rotating the handle element 41 to actuate the coupling device 30 when placing the connection coupling on. It is also possible that the torque is so strong enough that the rotation occurs automatically. In both cases, the rotation of the handle element 41 (and the associated grooved cam ring 42) actuates the coupling device 30 to establish a locking connection with the connecting piece 9.

[0038] Since the grooved cam section 46a is aligned at a 90° angle to the rotational axis 47, the actuating pin 44 is not moved along the rotational axis by the rotation of the grooved cam ring 42. During the transition from the state shown in Figure 6 to the state shown in Figure 8, the handle element 41 is rotated by approximately 14° starting from an initial rotational position. The angular range extending from the initial rotational position to the rotational angle of approximately 14° is also referred to in the present description as the first rotational angle range.

[0039] To open the main valve from the position illustrated in Figures 7 and 8, the user applies further torque to the handle element 41 to rotate it further, together with the grooved cam ring 42, relative to the housing of the connecting coupling about the rotation axis 47. As a result, the actuating pins 43, 44 in Figure 8 continue to move upward relative to the respective grooved cam 45, 46 until the position shown in Figure 9 is reached. Figure 9 shows the sub-elements shown in Figures 6 and 8 after the main valve has been opened.

[0040] During the transition from the position shown in Figure 8 to the position shown in Figure 9, the actuating pin 43 runs along the grooved cam section 45b aligned perpendicular to the rotation axis. The actuating pin 43 is therefore not displaced relative to the grooved cam ring 42 along the rotation axis. and accordingly there is no further actuation of the clutch device.

[0041] The actuating pin 44 initially runs along the section 46a aligned perpendicular to the axis of rotation, so that during the rotation of the handle element 41 a certain period of time elapses in which the vent valve 23 is still open, but the main valve 20 remains closed.

[0042] Only when section 46b is reached is the actuating pin 44 displaced relative to the grooved cam ring 42, whereby the vent valve 23 is first closed and then the main valve 20 is opened. The angle of rotation range, which extends from the position shown in Figure 8 to the position at which the actuating pin 44 reaches the grooved cam section 46b, is also referred to herein as the venting angle range or intermediate angle range. In this case, it extends over 24°. Starting from the end of the intermediate angle range up to the final rotational position illustrated in Figure 9, the handle element is rotated through a further 32°.

[0043] Figure 10 shows a lateral sectional view of the connecting coupling of Figure 1 after opening of the main valve. In comparison to the state shown in Figure 4, it is particularly evident that the actuating pin 44 has been displaced to the left relative to the housing of the connecting coupling due to the above-described interaction with the grooved cam 46. The actuating pin 44 is guided through a through-opening in the valve rod 25, so that the displacement of the actuating pin 44 is transmitted to the valve rod 25. On the one hand, the vent valve 23 is coupled to the valve rod 25, which is closed by the movement of the valve rod 25. In addition, the valve- The valve rod 25 is coupled to the valve body 21, which is moved from the closed position shown in Figure 4 into the open position shown in Figure 10 against a restoring force of the closing spring 24. The vent valve 23 and the main valve 20 are coordinated with one another in such a way that the movement of the valve rod 25 first closes the vent valve 23 and then opens the main valve 20.

[0044] Figure 11 shows a side sectional view of the connecting coupling of Figure 1 after opening the main valve along a sectional plane perpendicular to the sectional plane of Figure 10. In the view of Figure 11, the course of the main channel 19 with the sub-channels 19' and 19'' as well as the vent channel 16 can be seen from a different perspective. It can also be seen that the actuating pin 44 is guided through a through hole in the valve rod 25.

[0045] In the state shown in Figures 9 to 11, the handle element 41 is in a fully open position in which the main valve is open, the vent valve 23 is closed, and hydrogen is introduced into the tank via the connecting piece 9. In this state, the actuating pins 43, 44 are each located in an end section 45c, 46c of the respective grooved cam 45, 46, which is each aligned perpendicular to the axis of rotation. Thus, in this position, no torque can be transmitted from the respective actuating pins 43, 44 to the grooved cam ring 42 or the handle element 41. The handle element 41 thus remains in the fully open position as long as the user does not actively turn the handle element in the closing direction.

[0046] In an alternative embodiment not illustrated here, it would also be possible for the end section 46c to extend at an angle to the axis of rotation, so that a user must apply a certain force to "hold open" the main valve in the fully open position, or that, starting from the fully open position, a certain resistance must be overcome to initiate the "closing process". Both can be achieved via a suitable angle between the extension of the end section 46c of the grooved curve 46 and the axis of rotation 47, which in the alternative embodiment can deviate either positively or negatively from the vertical angle present in Figure 9. A corresponding adjustment of the torques acting when establishing the connection to the connecting piece 9 can be achieved by a corresponding adjustment of the grooved curve 45.The two coordinated groove curves thus enable a desired variation of the torque acting on the handle element in order to achieve a desired opening characteristic.

[0047] The viewing window 48 shown in Figure 1 moves when the handle element 41 is moved into the fully open position relative to the outer portion of the housing and exposes a second information element which indicates to the user that a refueling process is taking place.

[0048] After completion of the refueling process, the user can turn the handle element 41 in the opposite direction, whereby the above-described processes then take place in reverse order. First, the main valve closes, and shortly thereafter, the vent valve 23 opens. By opening the vent valve 23, the partial channel 19 '' is connected to the vent channel 16, whereby pressurized water present within the partial channel 19 '' vapors can be dissipated. Only after the actuating pin 43 has passed through the grooved curve area 45b, which is oriented perpendicular to the rotational axis 47, is the coupling device 30 actuated by a corresponding movement of the actuating pin 43 in order to effect unlocking.
