Abstract

A medical instrument, such as a dental instrument, is provided. The medical instrument includes a handle portion and a head portion, and can include a mechanical connection assembly operable between an unlocked configuration and a locked configuration. The mechanical connection assembly includes a first cooperative section and a second cooperative section. The first cooperative section can include a pathway successively comprising an axial pathway section and a radial pathway section, and the second cooperative section is configured to engage the first cooperative section and travel along the pathway. The medical instrument can also include an electrical connection assembly that includes a distal connector and a proximal connector, one of the distal and proximal connectors including at least one connection pin, and the other one of the distal and proximal connectors including at least one connector point configured to be electrically engageable with the at least one connection pin.
