Abstract
Description
[0001] COLLECTOR, AS WELL AS A COLLECTOR EQUIPPED WITH THE
[0002] Accumulator cover for one accumulator
[0003] The invention relates to a collector, as well as an accumulator cover equipped with the collector for an accumulator, as well as an accumulator equipped therewith and a method for producing the accumulator cover.
[0004] US 11158914B2 discloses a rechargeable battery and a method for manufacturing a rechargeable battery. This involves a collector formed as a bent part. After establishing a material bond between individual foils of the rechargeable battery and the collector, these foils are bent 90° together with the collector.
[0005] The accumulator known from US 11158914B2 has the disadvantage that the individual foils are more susceptible to errors due to the 90° bend.
[0006] The object of the present invention was to overcome the disadvantages of the prior art and to provide a collector, as well as an accumulator, and a method for producing the accumulator cover, which has an increased quality and, moreover, is as efficient as possible in production.
[0007] This object is achieved by a device and a method according to the claims.
[0008] According to the invention, a collector is designed for a battery cover of a battery. The collector comprises:
[0009] - a terminal connector for connecting to a terminal of the battery;
[0010] - a current collector for connecting to individual collector foils of the accumulator.
[0011] The pole connector and the current collector are designed as structurally independent components which are coupled to each other by means of a material connection.
[0012] The collector according to the invention has the advantage that, thanks to the structurally independently designed components, these can be positioned relative to one another in such a way that the current collector can be effectively connected to the individual collector foils of the accumulator. In this case, it can be provided that the individual collector foils have to be bent or shifted as little as possible in order to be connected to the current collector. By using independently designed components for the current collector and the pole connector, it can also be achieved that these can be manufactured as efficiently as possible from raw materials, such as a sheet metal plate or flat wire, with a desired shape in order to produce as little waste as possible during production. Since collectors are produced in very large numbers, this can lead to considerable material savings in the manufacturing process.
[0013] Furthermore, it may be expedient for the current collector to be formed as a formed part from a flat wire with a rectangular cross-section, a width from a first narrow side to a second narrow side, a thickness from a first broad side to a second broad side, and a length from a first end face to a second end face. This has the advantage that a current collector made from a flat wire, in particular, can be manufactured simply and efficiently without generating much, if any, material waste. This can lead to significant material savings in the manufacturing process.
[0014] Furthermore, the current collector can be bent in a U-shape and has a first leg, a second leg, and a base connecting the first leg and the second leg. A current collector configured in this way can, in particular, have an efficient shape for connection to collector foils.
[0015] In an alternative embodiment, it can also be provided that the first leg and the second leg are not connected to a base, but are designed as structurally independent elements. Otherwise, these structurally independent legs can have all the properties described in this document. In other words, a first current collector and a second current collector can be provided, with the pole connector and the two current collectors each being designed as structurally independent components, with the two current collectors each being coupled to the pole connector by means of a material connection.
[0016] Furthermore, it can be provided that the base has a first base section and a second base section, wherein a connecting arc is formed between the first base section and the second base section, wherein the first leg adjoins the first base section and wherein the second leg adjoins the second base section and wherein the first base section is formed parallel to the second base section. This has the advantage that the connecting arc can serve as a material reserve, so that if the distance between the first leg and the second leg changes during the manufacturing process or during the welding of the collector foils to the legs of the current collector, no damage to the current collector is caused. Furthermore, it can be provided that the connecting arc has a rectangular shape.
[0017] In particular, it can be provided that the collector foils are coupled to the broad side of the current collector. In particular, it can be provided that the collector foils are flatly coupled to the broad side of the current collector or connected to it. This measure can achieve a particularly good electrical connection between the collector foils and the current collector.
[0018] Another advantageous embodiment is one in which the flat wire current collector is bent around at least one bending axis perpendicular to the narrow side. This measure ensures that the wide side of the current collector has an ideal alignment for connecting to the collector foils of the battery. Furthermore, a current collector bent around a bending axis perpendicular to the narrow side is easy to manufacture.
[0019] According to a further development, it is possible for the pole connector and the current collector to be coupled together by a welded joint. This offers the advantage that the pole connector and the current collector can be efficiently joined together by means of a welded joint to establish the electrically conductive connection.
[0020] In a first embodiment, the welded joint can be produced using a laser welding process. In a further embodiment, the welded joint can be produced using an ultrasonic welding process. In a further embodiment, the welded joint can be produced using a resistance welding process. In a further embodiment, the welded joint can be produced using pressure welding.
[0021] In an alternative embodiment, the pole connector and the current collector can be coupled to each other by means of a soldered connection. Such a soldered connection can be achieved, for example, by brazing. Furthermore, it may be expedient for the pole connector to be formed as a stamped part from a sheet metal and have a pole side and a current collector side. This has the advantage that the pole connector can be manufactured simply and efficiently in large quantities as a stamped part.
[0022] Furthermore, the end faces of the current collector can be provided to butt against the current collector side of the terminal connector. This measure can achieve an efficient transition between the current collector and the hollow connector. In particular, this measure can achieve good conductivity between the current collector and the terminal connector, which can improve the battery's energy efficiency.
[0023] In an alternative embodiment, it can be provided that the inner broad sides of the current collector rest on the pole connector, in particular on a side surface of the pole connector, and are coupled to it by means of a material connection.
[0024] Furthermore, it may be advantageous for the terminal connector to have a circular terminal cutout. This measure allows for efficient connection of the terminal connector to a rivet.
[0025] Furthermore, it can be provided that the circular pole cutout has a circumferential countersink on the pole side, produced by means of a stamping tool. In particular, it can be provided that the countersink serves to accommodate the rivet.
[0026] According to the invention, a battery cover is designed for a battery. The battery cover comprises:
[0027] - a cover plate, the cover plate being bounded on the outside by an outer surface and on the inside by an inner surface;
[0028] - a rivet that penetrates the cover plate;
[0029] - a collector which is designed as a component independent of the rivet, wherein the collector is electrically conductively coupled to the rivet.
[0030] The collector is designed according to one of the above characteristics.
[0031] The accumulator cover according to the invention can be easily coupled to the collector foils of an electrode stack. Furthermore, it can be provided that the collector of a negative terminal is made of a copper material and that the collector of a positive terminal is made of an aluminum material. This results in particularly good functionality of the accumulator while simultaneously keeping the weight as low as possible.
[0032] Furthermore, it can be provided that the separating plate of a negative connection pole is formed from a material with a surface resistance of greater than 1.0E+13 ohms, in particular greater than 5.0E+14 ohms, determined by means of a method according to IEC 60167.
[0033] This measure can achieve sufficient insulation between the pole plate and the cover plate.
[0034] In particular, it can be provided that the separating plate is designed as an injection-molded part.
[0035] Furthermore, it can be provided that the separating plate of the negative connection pole comprises a PA 6. In particular, it can be provided that the material has a glass fiber content, in particular a content of 20% glass fibers.
[0036] In particular, the material of the separator plate of the negative terminal can have the following properties: PA 6, 20% glass fibers, injection-molded, halogen-free, flame-retardant, heat-stabilized. Such a material can have the following ISO molding compound designation: ISO 16396-PA 6,GF20 FR, GF2HR,S 12-060. Such a material is available, for example, under the name Durethan® BKV20FN20000000.
[0037] Furthermore, the separator plate of a positive terminal may be made of a material with a surface resistance between 1.0E+3 ohms and 1.0E+4 ohms, determined using a method according to ASTM D257. Especially for a positive terminal, such a weakly conductive material can offer surprisingly good properties regarding the electrical behavior of a battery.
[0038] In particular, it can be provided that the separating plate of the positive connection pole is formed from an injection-molded material.
[0039] Furthermore, the separator plate of the positive terminal can be made of PA66. In particular, the material of the separator plate of the negative terminal can have the following properties: Nylon 6 / 6 resin comprising 10% carbon fiber and 30% glass fiber. Such a material is available, for example, under the name LNP™ STAT-KON™ Compound RX04031.
[0040] According to the invention, an accumulator is designed. The accumulator comprises:
[0041] - a battery housing;
[0042] - a battery cover, wherein the battery cover is coupled to the battery housing;
[0043] - an electrode package comprising a plurality of positive electrode plates and adjoining positive collector foils, a plurality of negative electrode plates and adjoining negative collector foils, and a plurality of separators each disposed between the positive electrode plates and the negative electrode plates.
[0044] The accumulator cover is designed according to one of the above characteristics.
[0045] The accumulator according to the invention has the advantage of high energy efficiency. Furthermore, the accumulator according to the invention has a long service life. Furthermore, the accumulator according to the invention has a high power density. Furthermore, the accumulator according to the invention is easy to manufacture.
[0046] Furthermore, it may be expedient for the broad side of the current collector to be arranged parallel to a longitudinal extension of the battery cover, with the individual positive collector foils or negative collector foils of an electrode stack being firmly bonded to the broad side of the current collector. This offers the advantage that the collector foils can be easily and efficiently coupled to the current collector without subjecting the collector foils to excessive stress.
[0047] According to the invention, a method for producing a collector is provided. The method comprises the following steps:
[0048] - Providing a terminal connector for connecting to a terminal of the accumulator;
[0049] - Providing a current collector for connecting to individual collector foils of the battery. The terminal connector and the current collector are provided as structurally independent components, which are coupled together by means of a material-to-material connection.
[0050] This has the advantage that such a collector is easy to manufacture.
[0051] In a first method step, the flat wire can be provided for forming the current collector. In particular, it can be provided that the flat wire is punched out of the flat wire to the required length using a punching tool.
[0052] In a further method step, it can be provided that the flat wire is bent to form the current collector. In particular, it can be provided that the flat wire is bent around bending axes that are perpendicular to the narrow side. The characteristic appearance of the current collector can be achieved through these bends. In particular, it can be provided that the current collector is bent by die bending. Furthermore, it can be provided that the flat wire is bent to form the current collector, for example, by means of a bending machine, wherein individual gripping fingers can be provided, which each grip the flat wire twice and bend it accordingly.
[0053] In a further process step, the pole connector can be punched from a flat sheet metal plate using a punching tool. In this case, the circular pole cutout, including the countersink, can be punched simultaneously with the punching of the pole connector. Of course, the circular pole cutout and the countersink can be punched out sequentially or together in a subsequent process step for punching out the pole connector.
[0054] In a further process step, the terminal connector can be electrically connected to the current collector. This can be done, for example, by laser welding, resistance welding, ultrasonic welding, pressure welding, or by means of another welded connection.
[0055] The now finished collector can be inserted into the battery cover in a further process step. In particular, the terminal connector can be electrically connected to the rivet. This can be achieved, for example, by means of a weld. Laser welding, for example, can be used as a welding process.
[0056] In a further process step, the battery cover and the electrode stack can be brought together. The positive collector foils can then be coupled to the first broad side or to the second broad side of the first leg or the second leg of the current collector of the positive collector. This can be achieved, for example, by a welded connection. In particular, an ultrasonic welding process can be used.
[0057] The negative collector foils can then be coupled to the first broad side or to the second broad side of the first leg or the second leg of the negative collector current collector. This can be achieved, for example, by a welded connection. In particular, an ultrasonic welding process can be used.
[0058] In a subsequent process step, the battery cover, including the electrode assembly, can be joined to the battery housing. In a subsequent process step, the battery housing can be welded to the cover plate of the battery cover.
[0059] For a better understanding of the invention, it is explained in more detail using the following figures.
[0060] They show in a highly simplified, schematic representation:

[0069] As can be seen from Fig. 1, it can be provided that a positive connection pole 4 and a negative connection pole 5 are formed in the battery cover 3.
[0070] The structural design of the individual components of the positive terminal 4 and the negative terminal 5 can be identical, and differences can only be in the choice of material. Therefore, identically-looking figures are omitted in the illustration. It should be noted at this point that Figures 3 and 4 can depict both the individual components of the positive terminal 4 and the components of the negative terminal 5.
[0071] As further evident from Fig. 1, the accumulator cover 3 can be provided with a cover plate 6, which forms the base of the accumulator cover 3. In particular, the cover plate 6 can be welded to the accumulator housing 2 in order to seal the interior of the accumulator 1 from the environment. In particular, the positive connection pole 4 and the negative connection pole 5 can be arranged in the cover plate 6.
[0072] Furthermore, it can be provided that the interior of the accumulator 1 serves to accommodate an electrode package 7.

The positive electrode plates 8 can be coupled to a positive collector foil 11. The negative electrode plates 9 can be coupled to a negative collector foil 12.
[0074] The positive collector foils 11 can protrude beyond the separators 10 on one side of the electrode pack 7. The negative collector foils 12 can protrude beyond the separators 10 on a second side of the electrode pack 7.
[0075] Furthermore, it can be provided that the positive collector foils 11 are electrically conductively coupled to the positive connection pole 4 and that the negative collector foils 12 are coupled to the negative connection pole 5.
[0076] As further evident from Fig. 1, a base of the accumulator cover 3 can be provided to form the cover plate 6. The cover plate 6 can have an outer side 14 with an outer surface 15 and an inner side 16 with an inner surface 17. The outer side 14 can be designated as the side that is on the outside when the accumulator 1 is installed. The inner side 16 can be designated as the side that is inside the accumulator 1 in the installed state and faces the interior of the accumulator 1.
[0077] As can also be seen from Fig. 1, it can be provided that the positive connection pole 4 or the negative connection pole 5 comprises a rivet 18, which serves to conduct the electrical current between the inner side 16 of the battery cover 3 and the outer side 14 of the battery cover 3. Furthermore, it can be provided that the rivet 18 is coupled to a pole plate 19, which is arranged on the outer side 11 of the battery cover 3. A separating plate 20 can be arranged between the rivet 18 and the pole plate 19. The separating plate 20 can serve to provide more or less strong electrical insulation between the rivet 18 and the pole plate 19, depending on the application.
[0078] Furthermore, it can be provided that a collector 21 is formed, which is electrically conductively coupled to the rivet 18 and which is arranged on the inner side 16 of the accumulator cover 3.
[0079] Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 show the first embodiment of the collector 21 in two different perspective views. The structure of the collector 21 is described based on a combined view of Figs. 3 and 4.
[0080] The collector 21 comprises a current collector 22 and a terminal connector 23. The terminal connector 23 can be used for connecting to a terminal 4, 5 of the accumulator 1, in particular to the rivet 18 of the terminal 4, 5. The current collector 22 can be used for connecting to individual collector foils 11, 12 of the accumulator 1.
[0081] In particular, it can be provided that a positive collector 21 is coupled to the positive connection pole 4 and serves for the electrically conductive connection of the positive collector foils 11 to the positive connection pole 4.
[0082] Furthermore, it can be provided that a negative collector 21 is coupled to the negative connection pole 5 and serves for the electrically conductive connection of the negative collector foils 12 to the negative connection pole 5.
[0083] As can be clearly seen in Figs. 3 and 4, the pole connector 23 and the current collector 22 can be designed as structurally independent components. The pole connector 23 and the current collector 22 can be coupled to one another by means of a material connection.
[0084] In particular, it can be provided that the current collector 22 is electrically conductively coupled to the positive collector foils 11 or to the negative collector foils 12, depending on whether it is the positive connection pole 4 or the negative connection pole 5. This can be achieved, for example, by a material connection. Furthermore, it can be provided that the current collector 22 has a first leg 24 and a second leg 25, which are coupled to one another by means of a base 26. Furthermore, it can be provided that the base 26 has a first base section 27 and a second base section 28, wherein a connecting arc 29 is formed between the first base section 27 and the second base section 28. The first base section 27 and the second base section 28 can be aligned parallel to one another. The connecting arc 29 can connect the first base section 27 to the second base section 28 in a bridge-like manner.
[0085] As can be seen from Fig. 3, the current collector 22 can be bent from a flat wire 30. The flat wire 30, and thus also the current collector 22 bent from it, can have a first narrow side 31 and a second narrow side 32. The first narrow side 31 and the second narrow side 32 can be opposite one another. Furthermore, the current collector 22 can have a first broad side 33 and a second broad side 34. The first broad side 33 and the second broad side 34 can be opposite one another.
[0086] A distance between the first narrow side 31 and the second narrow side 32 can be referred to as width 35. A distance between the first broad side 33 and the second broad side 34 can be referred to as thickness 36. In particular, it can be provided that the first narrow side 31, the second narrow side 32, the first broad side 33, and the second broad side 34 form a rectangle when viewed in cross-section. In particular, it is of course possible for the individual sides 31, 32, 33, 34 to be connected to one another by curves.
[0087] Furthermore, it can be provided that the flat wire 30 and thus the current collector 22 have a first end face 37 and a second end face 38. The first end face 37 and the second end face 38 can be spaced apart from each other by a length 39, measured on the flat wire 30. In particular, it can be provided that the first end face 37 is arranged on the first leg 24 and that the second end face 38 is arranged on the second leg 25.
[0088] In particular, it can be provided that, viewed in cross-section, the broad sides 33, 34 are arranged parallel to a longitudinal extension 40 of the battery cover 3. In particular, it can be provided that for the positive connection pole 4, the positive collector foils 11 are electrically conductively coupled to the first broad side 33 or to the second broad side 34 of the current collector 22 of the positive collector 21. In particular, it can be provided that this is a materially bonded connection.
[0089] Furthermore, it can be provided that for the negative connection pole 5, the negative collector foils 12 are electrically conductively coupled to the first broad side 33 or to the second broad side 34 of the current collector 22 of the negative collector 21. In particular, it can be provided that this is a materially bonded connection.
[0090] As can be clearly seen in Figs. 3 and 4, the pole connector 23 can be provided with a pole side 41 and a current collector side 42. In particular, the pole connector 23 can be formed as a stamped part from a sheet metal. Furthermore, the pole connector 23 can be provided with a circular pole cutout 43. The circular pole cutout 43 can serve to accommodate the rivet 18.
[0091] In particular, it can be provided that a countersink 44 is formed on the pole side 41 of the pole connector 23 in the region of the circular pole cutout 43. The countersink 44 can correspond to a rivet 18. In particular, it can be provided that the rivet 18 is partially received in the countersink 44.
[0092] Furthermore, it can be provided that the first end face 37 and the second end face 38 abut against the current collector side 42 of the pole connector 23 and are materially coupled thereto.
[0093] As can be seen particularly clearly in Fig. 3, it can be provided that the first leg 24 and the second leg 25 of the current collector 22 are arranged at a distance 45 from each other. Furthermore, it can be provided that a first bend 46 is formed on the first leg 24 in the region of the first end face 37, at which bend the first leg 24 is guided closer to the second leg 25.
[0094] Furthermore, it can be provided that a second bend 47 is formed on the second leg 25 in the region of the second end face 38, at which bend the second leg 25 is guided closer to the first leg 24. As can also be clearly seen from Fig. 3, it can be provided that the connecting arch 29 extends in a bridge-like manner between the first base section 27 and the second base section 28.
[0095] In the following, a possible manufacturing method for producing the collector 21 or the accumulator cover 3 or the accumulator 1 is described.
[0096] In a first method step, the flat wire 30 can be provided for forming the current collector 22. In particular, it can be provided that the flat wire 30 is punched out of the flat wire 30 to a length 39 using a punching tool.
[0097] In a further method step, the flat wire 30 can be bent to form the current collector 22. In particular, the flat wire 30 can be bent around bending axes 48 that are perpendicular to the narrow sides 31, 32. The characteristic appearance of the current collector 22 can be achieved through these bends.
[0098] In particular, it can be provided that the bending of the current collector 22 is carried out by die bending.
[0099] Furthermore, it can be provided that the bending of the flat wire 30 to the current collector 22 takes place, for example, by means of a bending machine, wherein individual gripping fingers can be provided which can grip the flat wire 30 at different spaced-apart locations and bend it accordingly.
[0100] In a further method step, the pole connector 23 can be punched out of a flat sheet metal plate using a punching tool. In this case, the circular pole cutout 43, including the countersink 44, can also be punched out simultaneously with the punching out of the pole connector 23. Of course, the circular pole cutout 43 and the countersink 44 can be punched out sequentially or together in a subsequent method step for punching out the pole connector 23.
[0101] In a further process step, the pole connector 23 can be electrically connected to the current collector 22. This can be done, for example, by laser welding. Alternatively, it can be done by resistance welding, ultrasonic welding, pressure welding, or by means of another welded connection.
[0102] The now finished collector 21 can be inserted into the battery cover 3 in a further process step. In particular, the terminal connector 23 can be electrically connected to the rivet 18. This can be achieved, for example, by means of a welded connection. Laser welding, for example, can be used as a welding process.
[0103] In a further process step, the battery cover 3 and the electrode stack 7 can be brought together. Subsequently, the positive collector foils 11 can be coupled to the first broad side 33 or to the second broad side 34 of the first leg 24 or the second leg 25 of the current collector 22 of the positive collector 21. This can be achieved, for example, by a welded connection. In particular, an ultrasonic welding process can be used.
[0104] The negative collector foils 12 can then be coupled to the first broad side 33 or to the second broad side 34 of the first leg 24 or the second leg 25 of the current collector 22 of the negative collector 21. This can be done, for example, by a welded connection. In particular, an ultrasonic welding process can be used.
[0105] In a subsequent process step, the accumulator cover 3, together with the electrode package 7, can be plugged together with the accumulator housing 2. In a subsequent process step, the accumulator housing 2 can be welded to the cover plate 6 of the accumulator cover 3. This can be done, for example, by laser welding.
[0106] Fig. 5 shows a further and possibly independent embodiment of the collector 21, wherein the same reference numerals or component designations are used for the same parts as in the preceding Figures 1 to 4. To avoid unnecessary repetition, reference is made to the detailed description in the preceding Figures 1 to 4. In the second exemplary embodiment, the first leg 24 and the second leg 25 of the current collector 22 are designed as structurally independent parts. For the sake of simplicity, these are nevertheless referred to as the first leg 24 and the second leg 25 of the current collector 22, since they can otherwise have all the features as described in the preceding Figures.
[0107] A major difference from the first embodiment of the collector 21 is, of course, that the first leg 24 and the second leg 25 of the current collector 22 are not produced by bending a single flat wire 30, but that the first leg 24 and the second leg 25 of the current collector 22 can each be produced from a separate section of a flat wire 30.
[0108] The embodiments show possible embodiments, whereby it should be noted at this point that the invention is not limited to the specifically illustrated embodiments thereof, but rather various combinations of the individual embodiments with each other are also possible and this possibility of variation lies in the ability of the person skilled in the art in this technical field due to the honor of technical action through the objective invention.
[0109] The scope of protection is determined by the claims. However, the description and drawings must be used to interpret the claims. Individual features or combinations of features from the various embodiments shown and described may represent independent inventive solutions. The problem underlying these independent inventive solutions can be derived from the description.
