Abstract

The invention relates to a balloon catheter for transurethral use with a proximal region (2) comprising an at least single-lumen catheter shaft (4) with an inflation lumen and an inflatable balloon (5) which is fluid-permeable and connected to the distal end of the inflation lumen, and a distal region (3) comprising a distal shaft (7) and a distal tip (9), wherein the balloon catheter (1) comprises a flexible retention element (6) which is axially displaceable along the balloon (5) to divide the balloon (5) into a distal (5d) and proximal (5p) section, and a placement aid (10) is provided, wherein the placement aid (10) is tubular at least in the region of the balloon (5) and wherein the tubular section has at least the length of the balloon (5).The balloon catheter according to the invention allows for the conservative treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia without the use of additional imaging procedures.
