Abstract

A thread milling cutter is provided that can reduce the tilting of an internal thread being machined and thus increase the tool life. A thread milling cutter (10) includes a plurality of thread cutting edges (20a, 24, 29) spaced circumferentially apart from one another on one side of the front end (14) of an outer circumference of a tool body (12), as well as a plurality of end cutting edges formed on the front end (14) of the tool body (12). An effective cutting edge section (35), which cuts a workpiece, and a non-effective cutting edge section (36), which is set back towards an axial shank end (13) with respect to a trajectory of the effective cutting edge section (35) when the tool body (12) rotates about an axis (C), are formed on the plurality of end cutting edges.
