Procedure for controlling critical vehicle systems for accident prevention

Abstract

The invention relates to a standardized and quantifiable procedure for in-situ inspection of critical systems of heavy and light vehicles, including two- and three-axle buses, trucks with disc and / or drum brakes, tractor-trailers, minibuses, semi-trailers, and pickups, with the purpose of reducing the probability of accidents in demanding operating environments. The method comprises: (i) identification of the unit and document verification; (ii) comprehensive inspection of 7 to 10 critical systems using parameterized guidelines that exceed manufacturer recommendations; (iii) physical measurements (thicknesses, clearances, torque) and photographic documentation; (iv) data analysis with generation of an Accident Probability Index (API = 1 - product of RI); and (v) issuance of a report that classifies the vehicle as Pass, Conditional, or Unpassable. The procedure is applicable to fleets and integrates with predictive maintenance software.
