System and method for identifying atypical conditions in composite energy storage systems

Abstract

A system comprising a plurality of energy storage nodes, a power conversion system (PCS), a plurality of sensors for detecting or monitoring system data, including component data originating from or relating to one or more components of the energy storage system, and a control and management system. Each energy storage node includes a battery storage element. Component data includes battery data, PCS data, or a combination thereof. The control and management system is configured to receive or store system data; apply analytical models to the system data to predict or identify an atypical condition related to a weakness, damage, or change in condition in one or more components of the energy storage system; and, in response to the atypical condition, optimize a maintenance plan for the energy storage system.The components of the energy storage system may include a battery storage element, a power conversion system, or a transformer.
