Refurbished mining transport truck

Abstract

A retrofittable mining haul truck including a hybrid propulsion system with hydrogen fuel cells / batteries instead of a carbon-based propulsion system, wherein the retrofittable mining haul truck comprises: a chassis; a tray attached to the chassis; a platform attached to the chassis forward of at least a portion of the tray; a battery system arranged in a support structure, the support structure being integrated into and forming part of the platform of the retrofittable mining haul truck; a hydrogen storage system (HSS) installed in a volume of the engine compartment of the retrofittable mining haul truck, said engine compartment being configured to contain a combustion engine prior to retrofitting the retrofittable mining haul truck;and a fuel cell system, at least a portion of the fuel cell system being installed in a wheel well of the retrofittable mining haul truck, said wheel well being configured to contain one of a fuel tank or hydraulic fluid reservoir prior to the retrofitting of the retrofittable mining haul truck.;
