Abstract

A hybrid plant for the simultaneous parallel production of copper cathodes and copper foil, a hybrid method for the simultaneous production of copper cathodes and copper foil, a connecting plant that allows the connection of a copper cathode production process and a copper foil production process, and a process for the production of a concentrated copper solution to feed a copper foil plant. The invention allows for the parallel production of copper cathodes and copper foil by transferring a fraction of a loaded organic from a solvent extraction plant (electrowinning) to produce a copper sulfate solution to a connecting plant, which is then treated to generate a concentrated copper solution that feeds a copper foil plant. The electrolyte solution circuits are connected between both plants to optimize overall copper recovery, facilitate impurity handling, and optimize reagent use.
