Imidazoline and non-triazole amide compounds and methods for inhibiting corrosion in industrial water treatment

Abstract

Methods are provided for treating aqueous systems with treatment compositions that include imidazoline and / or non-triazole amide compounds that are effective in inhibiting corrosion of corrodible metal surfaces in aqueous systems. The imidazoline and / or non-triazole amide compounds exhibit corrosion inhibition comparable to or better than conventional triazole corrosion inhibitors and have low toxicity and good stability in the presence of halogens such as halogen-containing biocides or free chlorine.
