Abstract

A device for converting the energy of water waves into rotational motion, comprising a body (2) arranged to roll in accordance with the motion of the water waves, and at least one elongated axis of rotation (3), supported on the body (2) to rotate about its longitudinal axis (L). Two rotating elements (4, 5) are arranged on the axis of rotation (3), located in the longitudinal direction of the axis of rotation (3) at a certain distance from each other and with their centers of gravity situated on opposite sides of the longitudinal axis (L) with respect to the direction of rotation of the axis of rotation (3). The axis of rotation (3) is oriented in the direction of its longitudinal axis (L) parallel, on average, to the vertical plane passing through the direction of propagation (W) of the water wave motion.The axis of rotation (3) oscillates with the body (2) in the vertical plane that passes, on average, through the direction of propagation (W) of the water wave motion. The rocking of the axis of rotation (3) forces the centers of gravity of the rotating elements (4, 5) to rotate around the axis of rotation (3).
