Abstract
The "Cellular Vortex" system solves the problem of organic waste accumulation (feces and feed) and oxygen deficiency in aquaculture, issues that cause environmental stress and mass mortality. Unlike passive capture methods, which are inefficient in the face of currents, this innovation transforms conventional cages into active hydrodynamic reactors. Its main novelty lies in the use of injectors with optimized nozzle geometry (circular inlet, intermediate throat, and rectangular outlet), which generate a "flat jet" that maximizes water sweep. This design creates a controlled vortex that actively concentrates more than 65% of suspended solids in the center for removal, preventing contamination of the seabed.Furthermore, it features a removable anchoring system that allows for the retrofitting of existing facilities without structural changes, achieving high energy efficiency (6 kW). This preventative solution guarantees permanent aerobic conditions, improves fish welfare, and drastically reduces fallow periods from six to just two months.
