Abstract

A method is provided for minimizing over-excavation in underground mining comprising the steps of, through a data interface, receiving topographic data from a gallery face, said topographic data being generated by a surveying laser from a surveying position with respect to said gallery face; through a controller, correlating the surveying laser's topographic position with a mine engineering plan and determining an optimal drilling pattern, drilling angle, drilling depth and / or drilling direction to direct a gallery advance towards a desired deposit;and through a laser projector, which can be placed in a projection position, project said optimal drilling pattern, drilling angle, drilling depth and / or drilling direction onto said gallery and / or face to facilitate the drilling operator in drilling holes to direct a cut towards said desired deposit.;
