Description

[0001] Intersection of related applications

[0002] This application claims priority to and all benefits derived therefrom of Korean Patent Application No. 10-2019-0015462, filed on February 11, 2019, the contents of which are incorporated herein by reference in their entirety. Technical Field

[0003] This disclosure relates to a display device and a method for manufacturing a display device. Background Technology

[0004] With the development of multimedia, display devices have become increasingly important. Accordingly, various display devices have been developed, such as liquid crystal displays (LCDs) and organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays.

[0005] OLED display devices include OLEDs, which are self-emissive elements. An OLED includes two electrodes facing each other and an organic light-emitting layer inserted between the two electrodes. Electrons and holes from the two electrodes can recombine in the light-emitting layer to generate excitons, and light can be emitted in response to the transition of excitons from an excited state to a ground state.

[0006] Because OLED displays do not require a separate light source, they have become the focus of next-generation display devices due to their numerous advantages such as low power consumption, thinness, light weight, wide viewing angle, high brightness and contrast, and fast response speed. Summary of the Invention

[0007] OLED display devices require a light conversion pattern for converting light emitted from the emitting region into light of a predetermined wavelength, and the light conversion pattern may include stripes. Since light emitted from the emitting region can also be converted by the light conversion pattern in the region overlapping with the non-emitting region, the light conversion efficiency of the predetermined wavelength can be improved by enlarging the light conversion pattern in the region overlapping with the non-emitting region.

The planar shape of the display device 1 is not particularly limited, and the display device 1 may have various shapes other than a rectangular shape, such as a circular shape, a square shape, or an elliptical shape.

[0058] The display device 1 may include a display area DA for displaying images and a non-display area NA for not displaying images.

[0059] The display area DA can be arranged at the center of the display device 1. The display area DA may include multiple pixels.

[0060] The non-display area NA may be arranged outside the display area DA and may surround the display area DA. The non-display area NA may include a dummy light-emitting area, which has a structure substantially the same as the light-emitting area of a pixel, but is controlled to not emit light. Alternatively, the non-display area NA may include the light-emitting area of a pixel, but the emission of light from the non-display area NA may be blocked by a light-blocking element.

[0061] The non-display area NA may also include a sealed area SA. The sealed area SA may be an area where a seal 50 (described later) is arranged. The sealed area SA may be continuously arranged along the edge portion of the display device 1 that includes the two long sides and two short sides of the display device 1.

[0062] like Figure 2 As shown, the display device 1 may include a light provider 100, a light converter 300 facing the light provider 100, a filler 70 inserted between the light provider 100 and the light converter 300, and a seal 50. The seal 50 joins the light provider 100 and the light converter 300 together along the edges of each of them and is arranged in a sealing region SA. In the plan view, the seal 50 may be in the shape of a continuous rectangular frame arranged along the sealing region SA.

[0063] The light provider 100 may include elements and circuitry for displaying an image (i.e., pixel circuitry such as switching elements, a diaphragm layer defining a light-emitting region and a non-light-emitting region in the display area DA, and an organic light-emitting diode (OLED)). The light provider 100 may be a display substrate.

[0064] A light converter 300 is disposed above and facing the light provider 100. The light converter 300 may be a mating substrate facing the display substrate. The light converter 300 may be a color conversion substrate including a light conversion pattern that changes the color of the incident light provided by the light provider 100, but this disclosure is not limited thereto.

[0065] In the non-display area NA, a seal 50 may be disposed between the light provider 100 and the light converter 300. The seal 50 may be disposed along the edge of each of the light provider 100 and the light converter 300, and may surround the display area DA in a plan view. Furthermore, the seal 50 may be disposed between the light provider 100 and the light converter 300 along a thickness axis. The seal 50 may couple the light provider 100 and the light converter 300 together. That is, the light provider 100 and the light converter 300 may be coupled to each other via the seal 50. The seal 50 may comprise various adhesive materials.

[0066] The filler 70 may be disposed within the space surrounded by the light provider 100, the light converter 300, and the seal 50. The filler 70 may include a material that allows light to pass through and may have a buffering function. In one exemplary embodiment, the filler 70 may include an organic material. For example, the filler 70 may include a silicon-based organic material, an epoxy-based organic material, or an acrylic organic material, but this disclosure is not limited thereto.

[0067] Figure 3 yes Figure 1 A plan view of the display device. Figure 4 yes Figure 3 Enlarged plan view of the display device, Figure 5 It is along Figure 4 A cross-sectional view taken from line V-V'. Figure 6 It is along Figure 4 A cross-sectional view taken from line VI-VI'. Figure 7 It is along Figure 4 The cross-sectional view taken from line VII-VII', and Figure 8 It is along Figure 4 The cross-sectional view taken from line VIII-VIII'. Figure 9 It is a plan view showing how the highlighted pattern can improve the light conversion efficiency at a predetermined wavelength.

[0068] Reference Figures 3 to 9 In the display area DA, multiple pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3 can be arranged in a matrix. A pixel may include a first pixel PX1 displaying a first color, a second pixel PX2 displaying a second color, and a third pixel PX3 displaying a third color. The first pixel PX1 may be a green pixel emitting green light with a peak wavelength of approximately 510 nanometers (nm) to approximately 550 nm, the second pixel PX2 may be a blue pixel emitting blue light with a peak wavelength of approximately 430 nm to approximately 470 nm, and the third pixel PX3 may be a red pixel emitting red light with a peak wavelength of approximately 610 nm to approximately 650 nm.

[0069] In a planar diagram, pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3 may have different sizes. For example, in a planar diagram, the size of the third pixel PX3 may be larger than the size of the first pixel PX1 and the second pixel PX2, and the size of the first pixel PX1 may be larger than the size of the second pixel PX2. However, this disclosure is not limited to this example. In another example, in a planar diagram, the size of the third pixel PX3 may be smaller than the size of the first pixel PX1 and the second pixel PX2, and the size of the first pixel PX1 may be smaller than the size of the second pixel PX2.

[0070] Each of the first pixel PX1, the second pixel PX2, and the third pixel PX3 can be arranged in a stripe pattern. For example, each of the first pixel PX1, the second pixel PX2, and the third pixel PX3 can be arranged in a stripe pattern along the second axis DR2. Pixels belonging to the same pixel column can display the same color. For example, multiple first pixels PX1 can be arranged in the first pixel column, multiple second pixels PX2 can be arranged in the second pixel column, and multiple third pixels PX3 can be arranged in the third pixel column, and this arrangement pattern can be repeated along the row axis (i.e., the first axis DR1).

[0071] Pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3 may include light output regions PA1, PA2, and PA3 and a non-light output region PB. The light output regions PA1, PA2, and PA3 are defined as areas that output light through the display surface of the display device 1, and the non-light output region PB is defined as an area that does not output light through the display surface of the display device 1. The non-light output region PB may be arranged around the light output regions PA1, PA2, and PA3. The light output regions PA1, PA2, and PA3 and the non-light output region PB may be defined by a first light-shielding pattern 320, which will be described later.

[0072] Pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3 may further include light-emitting regions LA1, LA2, and LA3 and non-light-emitting regions LB disposed around the periphery of the light-emitting regions LA1, LA2, and LA3. The light-emitting regions LA1, LA2, and LA3 are defined as regions emitting light by the organic layer OL. The light-emitting regions LA1, LA2, and LA3 and the non-light-emitting region LB are defined by a dam layer 150, which will be described later. The light-emitting regions LA1, LA2, and LA3 may be disposed within light output regions PA1, PA2, and PA3, and the non-light-emitting region LB may be disposed within a non-light output region PB. The boundaries PCL and PRL between pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3 may be located within the non-light-emitting region LB.

[0073] Pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3 can have different planar profiles. For example... Figure 4 As shown, at each pixel row boundary PRL, a first pixel PX1 may include protruding pattern portions 351b and 351c protruding outwards along a first axis DR1 toward the first pixel PX1; a second pixel PX2 may include recessed pattern portions IDP1 and IDP2 recessed inwards along the first axis DR1 toward the first pixel PX1; and a third pixel PX3 may include a protruding pattern portion 353b protruding in a first direction toward the first axis DR1 and a recessed pattern portion IDP3 recessed in the first direction toward the first axis DR1. The protruding pattern portions and / or recessed pattern portions of each of pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3 may be arranged along the pixel row boundary PRL. As used herein, the term "first direction" for axis refers to one direction of the axis, and "second direction" refers to the opposite direction of the axis.

[0074] The pixel row boundary (PRL) and pixel column boundary (PCL) can be located at the boundaries between pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3. The pixel row boundary (PRL) can extend along the first axis DR1, and the pixel column boundary (PCL) can extend substantially along the second axis DR2.

[0075] The pixel column boundary (PCL) can be arranged along the planar contours of pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3. That is, when the first pixel PX1, the second pixel PX2, and the third pixel PX3 are arranged in the same order, the pixel column boundary (PCL) between the first pixel PX1 and the second pixel PX2 can be arranged along the planar contours of the first pixel PX1 and the second pixel PX2, the pixel column boundary (PCL) between the second pixel PX2 and the third pixel PX3 can be arranged along the planar contours of the second pixel PX2 and the third pixel PX3, and the pixel column boundary (PCL) between the third pixel PX3 and the first pixel PX1 can be arranged along the planar contours of the third pixel PX3 and the first pixel PX1.

[0076] The light-blocking patterns 320 and 360 can be arranged at the boundaries between pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3. For example... Figure 5 As shown, the light-shielding patterns 320 and 360 may include a first light-shielding pattern 320 arranged between the color filters 330 and a second light-shielding pattern 360 arranged between the light conversion patterns 351, 352 and 353.

[0077] The first light-shielding pattern 320 may be arranged along the pixel row boundary PRL and along the pixel column boundary PCL, and the second light-shielding pattern 360 may be arranged along the pixel column boundary PCL but not along the pixel row boundary PRL.

[0078] The first light-shielding pattern 320 and the second light-shielding pattern 360 may be arranged to overlap with the pixel column boundary PCL arranged along the planar contours of pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3. In some exemplary embodiments, the first light-shielding pattern 320 and the second light-shielding pattern 360 may be arranged substantially along the pixel column boundary PCL, but may even have a linear shape in the areas of protruding and / or recessed pattern portions, regardless of the presence or absence of protruding and / or recessed pattern portions in each of pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3.

[0079] Reference Figure 5 The light provider 100 will be described below.

[0080] The light provider 100 may include a first base substrate 110, switching elements T1, T2 and T3, an insulating film 130, a pixel electrode AE, a dam layer 150, an organic layer OL, a common electrode CE and a thin film encapsulation layer 170.

[0081] The first base substrate 110 may include a light-transmitting material. In an exemplary embodiment, the first base substrate 110 may be a glass substrate or a plastic substrate.

[0082] On the first base substrate 110, one or more switching elements T1, T2, and T3 may be arranged in each of the pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3. Although not specifically shown, multiple signal lines (e.g., gate lines, data lines, power lines, etc.) may also be arranged on the first base substrate 110 to transmit signals to the switching elements T1, T2, and T3.

[0083] An insulating film 130 may be disposed on switching elements T1, T2, and T3. The insulating film 130 may include an organic film. In an exemplary embodiment, for example, the insulating film 130 may include an acrylic resin, an epoxy resin, an imide resin, or an ester resin.

[0084] On the insulating film 130, pixel electrodes AE can be disposed in pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3. Pixel electrodes AE can be connected to switching elements T1, T2, and T3 via holes defined in the insulating film 130.

[0085] In one exemplary embodiment, the pixel electrode AE may be the anode of the OLED. The pixel electrode AE may include a high work function material that facilitates hole injection, such as indium tin oxide (ITO), indium zinc oxide (IZO), zinc oxide (ZnO), or indium oxide (In2O3). When the display device 1 is a top-emitting display device, the pixel electrode AE may also include a reflective material layer.

[0086] A dam layer 150 may be disposed on a pixel electrode AE. The dam layer 150 may be a grid shape arranged along the pixel column boundary PCL and the pixel row boundary PRL. Furthermore, the dam layer 150 may define openings that partially expose the pixel electrodes AE. The portions of the pixel electrodes AE not covered by the dam layer 150 but exposed may correspond to light-emitting regions LA1, LA2, and LA3, and the portions of the pixel electrodes AE covered by the dam layer 150 may correspond to non-light-emitting regions LB. The dam layer 150 may comprise an organic insulating material.

[0087] The organic layer OL can be disposed on the portion of the pixel electrode AE exposed by the opening of the embankment layer 150. Figures 3 to 9 The illustration shows a single organic layer OL integrally arranged across all pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3. However, the invention is not limited thereto. In another exemplary embodiment, multiple organic layers OL may be arranged for pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3 respectively.

[0088] The organic layer (OL) includes an organic light-emitting layer. Electrons from the cathode of the OLED and holes from the anode of the OLED can recombine in the organic light-emitting layer to generate excitons, and blue light can be emitted in response to the transition of excitons from the excited state to the ground state. The organic layer (OL) may also include auxiliary layers that facilitate the injection and movement of holes and electrons.

[0089] The common electrode CE can be disposed on the organic layer OL. If the pixel electrode AE is the anode of the OLED, the common electrode CE can be the cathode of the OLED, and can include a low work function material that facilitates electron injection, such as, for example, Li, Ca, LiF / Ca, LiF / Al, Al, Mg, Ag, Pt, Pd, Ni, Au, Nd, Ir, Cr, BaF, Ba or compounds or mixtures thereof (e.g., a mixture of Ag and Mg).

[0090] Blue light emitted from the organic light-emitting layers arranged in the corresponding pixels PX1, PX2 and PX3 can be provided to the corresponding pixels PX1, PX2 and PX3, and can also be provided to neighboring pixels.

[0091] A thin-film encapsulation layer 170 may be disposed on the common electrode CE. To prevent external impurities or moisture from penetrating into the organic layer OL, the thin-film encapsulation layer 170 may be disposed on the common electrode CE to seal the organic layer OL. The thin-film encapsulation layer 170 may include a first encapsulating inorganic film 171 and a second encapsulating inorganic film 173, and an encapsulating organic film 172. The first encapsulating inorganic film 171 and the second encapsulating inorganic film 173 comprise inorganic materials, and the encapsulating organic film 172 is disposed between the first encapsulating inorganic film 171 and the second encapsulating inorganic film 173 and comprises organic materials.

[0092] The light converter 300 will be described below. The light converter 300 may include a second base substrate 310, a first light-shielding pattern 320, a color filter 330, light conversion patterns 351, 352 and 353, a plurality of stacked cover layers 340 and a second light-shielding pattern 360.

[0093] The second base substrate 310 faces the first base substrate 110. The second base substrate 310 may include at least one of the exemplary materials described above for the first base substrate 110.

[0094] The first light-shielding pattern 320 can be arranged on the first surface of the second base substrate 310 facing the light provider 100 (i.e., the direction of the second base substrate 310). Figure 5 On the surface of the downward axis. The first light-shielding pattern 320 may have a grid shape arranged along the pixel column boundary PCL and the pixel row boundary PRL.

[0095] The first light-shielding pattern 320 blocks the transmission of light. Specifically, the first light-shielding pattern 320 prevents the mixing of colors of light beams emitted from pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3 toward the display surface of the display device 1. That is, the first light-shielding pattern 320 prevents light incident from the light conversion pattern of adjacent pixels. In an exemplary embodiment, the first light-shielding pattern 320 may include at least one of an opaque organic material, a Cr-based metal material, and carbon black.

[0096] The color filter 330 may be disposed on the first surface of the second base substrate 310. The color filter 330 may be disposed on the first light-shielding pattern 320. The color filter 330 may be an absorption filter that absorbs light of a predetermined wavelength while allowing light of another predetermined wavelength to pass through it.

[0097] The color filter 330 may include a first color filter 331, a second color filter 332 and a third color filter 333.

[0098] The first wavelength conversion pattern 351 emits blue light L1 and green light L2, and the first color filter 331 can block or absorb the blue light L1 emitted by the first wavelength conversion pattern 351. That is, the first color filter 331 can be used as a blue light blocking filter to block blue light, and can also be used as a filter to selectively allow the green light L2 emitted by the first wavelength conversion pattern 351 to pass through it. The first color filter 331 may include a green colorant.

[0099] The light-transmitting pattern 352 allows blue light L1 to pass through it as is, and the second color filter 332 allows the blue light L1 emitted by the light-transmitting pattern 352 to pass through. The second color filter 332 may include a blue colorant.

[0100] The second wavelength conversion pattern 353 emits blue light L1 and red light L3. The third color filter 333 can block or absorb the blue light L1 emitted by the second wavelength conversion pattern 353. That is, the third color filter 333 can be used as a blue light blocking filter to block blue light, and can also be used as a filter to selectively allow the red light L3 emitted by the second wavelength conversion pattern 353 to pass through it. The third color filter 333 may include a red colorant.

[0101] The color filters 330 can be arranged in a stripe pattern. The color filters 330 can also be integrally connected to each other along each pixel column and can be arranged across the pixel column boundary PCL, even in areas of protruding and / or recessed patterns, regardless of the presence or absence of protruding and / or recessed patterns in each of pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3. That is, the first color filter 331 can generally be arranged within the first pixel column, but not on the protruding pattern of the first pixel PX1; the second color filter 332 can generally be arranged within the second pixel column, and even on the protruding patterns of the first pixel PX1 and the third pixel PX3 adjacent to the second pixel PX2; and the third color filter 333 can generally be arranged within the third pixel column, but not on the protruding pattern of the third pixel PX3.

[0102] A pair of adjacent color filters 330 may partially overlap each other, but this disclosure is not limited thereto. In alternative exemplary embodiments, a pair of adjacent color filters 330 may be spaced apart from each other rather than overlapping.

[0103] The first cover layer 341 may be disposed on the color filter 330. The first cover layer 341 may be disposed on the entire surface of the color filter 330.

[0104] The first cover layer 341 prevents external impurities such as moisture and air from penetrating into the color filter 330 and thereby damaging or contaminating it. The first cover layer 341 may comprise an inorganic material. In an exemplary embodiment, for example, the first cover layer 341 may comprise silicon nitride, aluminum nitride, zirconium nitride, titanium nitride, hafnium nitride, tantalum nitride, silicon oxide, aluminum oxide, titanium oxide, tin oxide, cerium oxide, or silicon oxynitride.

[0105] Light conversion patterns 351, 352, and 353 may be arranged on the first cover layer 341. Light conversion patterns 351, 352, and 353 may include a first wavelength conversion pattern 351, a light-transmitting pattern 352, and a second wavelength conversion pattern 353.

[0106] The first wavelength conversion pattern 351 can convert blue light L1 into green light L2 and emit green light L2, the second wavelength conversion pattern 353 can convert blue light L1 into red light L3 and emit red light L3, and the light transmission pattern 352 can allow blue light L1 to be transmitted through it as is.

[0107] Reference Figure 6 The first wavelength conversion pattern 351 may include a first base resin and first wavelength conversion particles CCP1 dispersed in the first base resin; the second wavelength conversion pattern 353 may include a second base resin and second wavelength conversion particles CCP2 dispersed in the second base resin; and the light transmission pattern 352 may include a third base resin. Each of the light conversion patterns 351, 352, and 353 may also include scattering particles SP dispersed in the first base resin, the second base resin, or the third base resin.

[0108] In an exemplary embodiment, the scattering particles SP may be particles of metal oxides such as titanium oxide (TiO2), silicon oxide (SiO2), zirconium oxide (ZrO2), aluminum oxide (Al2O3), indium oxide (In2O3), zinc oxide (ZnO) or tin oxide (SnO2), or particles of organic materials such as acrylic resin or polyurethane resin.

[0109] The materials of the first, second, and third base resins are not particularly limited, as long as they have excellent dispersion characteristics for the first wavelength conversion particle CCP1 or the second wavelength conversion particle CCP2 and for the scattering particles SP. In an exemplary embodiment, for example, each of the first, second, and third base resins may include organic materials such as epoxy resins, acrylic resins, calorie resins, and imide resins.

[0110] The first wavelength conversion particle CCP1 can convert blue light L1 into green light L2, and the second wavelength conversion particle CCP2 can convert blue light L1 into red light L3. Examples of the first wavelength conversion particle CCP1 and the second wavelength conversion particle CCP2 include quantum dots, quantum rods, or phosphors. For example, quantum dots are particulate materials that emit light of a specific color in response to the transition of their electrons' energy bands from the conduction band to the valence band. When both the first wavelength conversion particle CCP1 and the second wavelength conversion particle CCP2 are quantum dots, the diameter of the second wavelength conversion particle CCP2 may be larger than the diameter of the first wavelength conversion particle CCP1.

[0111] Quantum dots can be semiconductor nanocrystal materials. Quantum dots can have specific band gaps depending on their composition or size. Quantum dots can absorb light and then emit light of a unique wavelength. Examples of semiconductor nanocrystal materials include group IV nanocrystal materials, group II-VI compound nanocrystal materials, group III-V compound nanocrystal materials, group IV-VI nanocrystal materials, and combinations thereof. Each quantum dot can have a core-shell structure consisting of a core comprising the aforementioned nanocrystal material and a shell surrounding that core.

[0112] Light conversion patterns 351, 352, and 353 can be arranged in a stripe pattern. The first wavelength conversion pattern 351, the light-transmitting pattern 352, and the second wavelength conversion pattern 353 can be arranged along a pixel column and can be connected as a whole. That is, the first wavelength conversion pattern 351 can be arranged in the first pixel column, the light-transmitting pattern 352 can be arranged in the second pixel column, and the second wavelength conversion pattern 353 can be arranged in the third pixel column. In other words, regardless of the pixel row boundary PRL in the axis of the pixel column, the light conversion patterns 351, 352, and 353 can extend in a straight line.

[0113] Reference Figure 4 Each of the light conversion patterns 351, 352, and 353 may generally have a linear shape extending substantially along the axis of the pixel column, and may include protruding pattern portions and / or recessed pattern portions. The protruding pattern portions and / or recessed pattern portions of the light conversion patterns 351, 352, and 353 may be arranged along the pixel row boundary PRL in the non-light-emitting regions LB of pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3. The arrangement of the protruding pattern portions and / or recessed pattern portions in the light conversion patterns 351, 352, and 353 may be determined based on the light extraction efficiency of the light conversion patterns 351, 352, and 353. For example, a light conversion pattern with relatively low light extraction efficiency may be configured to have protruding pattern portions on both sides, thereby enhancing the light extraction efficiency of the light conversion pattern.

[0114] For example, such as Figure 4As shown, the first wavelength conversion pattern 351 may include a first main pattern portion 351a extending along the axis of the pixel column (i.e., along the second axis DR2), and may also include a first protruding pattern portion 351b and a second protruding pattern portion 351c protruding from the first main pattern portion 351a along the first axis DR1 near their corresponding pixel row boundaries PRL. Figure 4 As shown, the first main pattern portion 351a may be a portion of the first wavelength conversion pattern 351 extending along the second axis DR2 to have a uniform width along the first axis DR1. In the plan view, the first main pattern portion 351a may include a first pattern extension line PEL1 and a second pattern extension line PEL2 (or a first edge and a second edge) of the first wavelength conversion pattern 351 extending along the second axis DR2. The first protruding pattern portion 351b and the second protruding pattern portion 351c may protrude outward from the first pattern extension line PEL1 and the second pattern extension line PEL2 along the first axis DR1, respectively. That is, the first protruding pattern portion 351b, the second protruding pattern portion 351c, and the first main pattern portion 351a may be connected via the first pattern extension line PEL1 and the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the first wavelength conversion pattern 351.

[0115] The first protruding pattern portion 351b and the second protruding pattern portion 351c may overlap with the first light-shielding pattern 320 and the first color filter 331 arranged above the first protruding pattern portion 351b and the second protruding pattern portion 351c on the thickness axis (i.e., the third axis DR3). The first protruding pattern portion 351b may overlap with the portion of the third color filter 333 adjacent to the first color filter 331 on the thickness axis, and the second protruding pattern portion 351c may overlap with the portion of the second color filter 332 adjacent to the first color filter 331 on the thickness axis.

[0116] The first protruding pattern portion 351b may protrude from the first main pattern portion 351a in a first direction toward the first axis DR1 (i.e., toward the second wavelength conversion pattern 353 adjacent to the first wavelength conversion pattern 351), and the second protruding pattern portion 351c may protrude from the first main pattern portion 351a in a second direction toward the first axis DR1 (i.e., along the axis toward the light-transmitting pattern 352). The first protruding pattern portion 351b and the second protruding pattern portion 351c may be aligned with each other on the first axis DR1, but this disclosure is not limited thereto.

[0117] Since the first wavelength conversion pattern 351 includes a first protruding pattern portion 351b and a second protruding pattern portion 351c, the area of the first wavelength conversion pattern 351 can be expanded in the non-light-emitting region LB. As a result, the light conversion efficiency of the first wavelength conversion pattern 351 can generally be improved. That is, as... Figure 8As shown, the first protruding pattern portion 351b is arranged to overlap with the first light-shielding pattern 320 arranged above the first protruding pattern portion 351b. However, incident light L1 (e.g., blue light) incident on the first protruding pattern portion 351b can be converted into light L2 (e.g., green light) by the first wavelength conversion particle CCP1, and then emitted diagonally upward to the first light output region PA1 where the first light-shielding pattern 320 is not arranged. In other words, not only the first main pattern portion 351a not covered by the first light-shielding pattern 320, but also the first protruding pattern portion 351b and the second protruding pattern portion 351c can help increase the amount of light whose wavelength is converted by the first wavelength conversion pattern 351, and as a result, the light extraction efficiency of the first wavelength conversion pattern 351 can be improved.

[0118] The width W351b of the first wavelength conversion pattern 351 in the non-light-emitting region LB on the first axis DR1 may be greater than the width W351a of the first main pattern portion 351a on the first axis DR1. The first protruding pattern portion 351b and the second protruding pattern portion 351c may be arranged on the outer side of the imaginary extension of the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the third pixel PX3 and the first pattern extension line PEL1 of the second pixel PX2 on the axis of the pixel column, but this disclosure is not limited thereto. Alternatively, the first protruding pattern portion 351b and the second protruding pattern portion 351c may be arranged on the inner side of the imaginary extension of the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the third pixel PX3 and the first pattern extension line PEL1 of the second pixel PX2 on the axis of the pixel column, respectively.

[0119] The first protruding pattern portion 351b and the second protruding pattern portion 351c may have the same width along the first axis DR1, but this disclosure is not limited thereto.

[0120] The light-transmitting pattern 352 may include a second main pattern portion 352a extending substantially along the axis of the pixel column (i.e., along the second axis DR2). The light-transmitting pattern 352 may also include a first recessed pattern portion IDP1 and a second recessed pattern portion IDP2 recessed from the second main pattern portion 352a along the first axis DR1 near their corresponding pixel row boundaries PRL.

[0121] like Figure 4As shown, the second main pattern portion 352a may be a portion of the light-transmitting pattern 352 extending along the second axis DR2 to have a uniform width along the first axis DR1. In the plan view, the second main pattern portion 352a may overlap with the first pattern extension line PEL1 and the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the light-transmitting pattern 352 extending along the second axis DR2, or may be arranged inside the first pattern extension line PEL1 and the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the light-transmitting pattern 352 extending along the second axis DR2. That is, the two edges of the second main pattern portion 352a may extend along the first pattern extension line PEL1 and the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the light-transmitting pattern 352 along the second axis DR2, and may include a first recessed pattern portion IDP1 and a second recessed pattern portion IDP2 that are respectively recessed inward from the first pattern extension line PEL1 and the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the light-transmitting pattern 352.

[0122] Specifically, the first recessed pattern portion IDP1 may be recessed from the first pattern extension line PEL1 of the light-transmitting pattern 352 toward the second direction of the first axis DR1 (i.e., in the direction away from the first wavelength conversion pattern 351), and the second recessed pattern portion IDP2 may be recessed in the direction from the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the light-transmitting pattern 352 toward the first direction of the first axis DR1 (i.e., in the direction away from the second wavelength conversion pattern 353).

[0123] The first recessed pattern portion IDP1 and the second recessed pattern portion IDP2 may be aligned with each other on the first axis DR1, but this disclosure is not limited thereto.

[0124] The first recessed pattern portion IDP1 and the second recessed pattern portion IDP2 may overlap with the first light-blocking pattern 320 and the second color filter 332 arranged above the first recessed pattern portion IDP1 and the second recessed pattern portion IDP2 on the thickness axis (i.e., the third axis DR3). Unlike the first protruding pattern portion 351b and the second protruding pattern portion 351c, the first recessed pattern portion IDP1 and the second recessed pattern portion IDP2 may not overlap with the first color filter 331 and the third color filter 333 on the thickness axis.

[0125] The width W352b of a portion of the light-transmitting pattern 352 having the first recessed pattern portion IDP1 and the second recessed pattern portion IDP2 along the first axis DR1 can be smaller than the width W352a of a portion of the light-transmitting pattern 352 not having the first recessed pattern portion IDP1 and the second recessed pattern portion IDP2 along the first axis DR1. The width from the first pattern extension line PEL1 of the light-transmitting pattern 352 to the first recessed pattern portion IDP1 along the first axis DR1 can be determined by the width of the second protruding pattern portion 351c of the first wavelength conversion pattern 351, and the width from the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the light-transmitting pattern 352 to the second recessed pattern portion IDP2 along the first axis DR1 can be determined by the width of the third protruding pattern portion 353b of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353. For example, the width from the first pattern extension line PEL1 of the light-transmitting pattern 352 to the first recessed pattern portion IDP1 may be the same as the width of the second protruding pattern portion 351c of the first wavelength conversion pattern 351, and the width from the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the light-transmitting pattern 352 to the second recessed pattern portion IDP2 may be the same as the width of the third protruding pattern portion 353b of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353. However, this disclosure is not limited to this example. In another exemplary embodiment, the width from the first pattern extension line PEL1 of the light-transmitting pattern 352 to the first recessed pattern portion IDP1 may be smaller than the width of the second protruding pattern portion 351c of the first wavelength conversion pattern 351, and the width from the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the light-transmitting pattern 352 to the second recessed pattern portion IDP2 may be smaller than the width of the third protruding pattern portion 353b of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353.

[0126] The width from the first pattern extension line PEL1 of the light-transmitting pattern 352 to the first recessed pattern portion IDP1 may be the same as the width from the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the light-transmitting pattern 352 to the second recessed pattern portion IDP2, but this disclosure is not limited thereto.

[0127] In some exemplary embodiments, the light-transmitting pattern 352 may not include the first recessed pattern portion IDP1 and the second recessed pattern portion IDP2, and may be formed as a linear shape extending along the second axis DR2. That is, the second main pattern portion 352a of the light-transmitting pattern 352 may extend linearly along the first pattern extension line PEL1 and the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the light-transmitting pattern 352.

[0128] The second wavelength conversion pattern 353 may include a third main pattern portion 353a extending on the axis of the pixel column (i.e., on the second axis DR2), and may also include a third protruding pattern portion 353b protruding outward along the first axis DR1 toward the third pixel PX3 near its corresponding pixel row boundary PRL, and a third recessed pattern portion IDP3 recessed inward along the first axis DR1 toward the third pixel PX3.

[0129] like Figure 4 As shown, the third main pattern portion 353a may be a portion of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353 extending along the second axis DR2 to have a uniform width along the second axis DR2. In the plan view, the third main pattern portion 353a may overlap with or be arranged on the inner side of the first pattern extension line PEL1 and the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353 extending along the second axis DR2. The third protruding pattern portion 353b may be a portion of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353 protruding from the left side of the first pattern extension line PEL1 of the third main pattern portion 353a toward the light-transmitting pattern 352. That is, the third protruding pattern portion 353b and the third main pattern portion 353a may be connected by the first pattern extension line PEL1 of the third main pattern portion 353a.

[0130] The edge of the third main pattern portion 353a adjacent to the first wavelength conversion pattern 351 of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353 may extend along the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353 on the second axis DR2, and may include a third recessed pattern portion IDP3 that is recessed inward from the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353 near the third recessed pattern portion IDP3.

[0131] In other words, the third protruding pattern portion 353b can protrude from the third main pattern portion 353a toward the first axis DR1 in a first direction (i.e., in the direction toward the light-transmitting pattern 352), and the third recessed pattern portion IDP3 can be recessed toward the first axis DR1 in a first direction (i.e., in the direction away from the first wavelength conversion pattern 351 adjacent to the second wavelength conversion pattern 353).

[0132] The third protruding pattern portion 353b may overlap with the first light-blocking pattern 320 and the third color filter 333 arranged above the third protruding pattern portion 353b on the thickness axis (i.e., the third axis DR3). Moreover, the third protruding pattern portion 353b may overlap with a portion of the second color filter 332 adjacent to the third color filter 333 on the thickness axis.

[0133] Since the second wavelength conversion pattern 353 includes a third protruding pattern portion 353b and a third recessed pattern portion IDP3, the second wavelength conversion pattern 353 can have an enlarged area on one side and a reduced area on the other side. The third protruding pattern portion 353b is arranged to overlap with the first light-shielding pattern 320 arranged above the third protruding pattern portion 353b, but the incident light L1 (e.g., blue light) incident on the third protruding pattern portion 353b can be converted into light L3 (e.g., red light) by the second wavelength conversion particle CCP2, and can then be diagonally emitted upward to the third light output region PA3 where the first light-shielding pattern 320 is not arranged. In other words, not only the third main pattern portion 353a, which is not covered by the first light-shielding pattern 320, but also the third protruding pattern portion 353b can help increase the amount of light that undergoes wavelength conversion by the second wavelength conversion pattern 353. Accordingly, any reduction in the amount of light that undergoes wavelength conversion by the second wavelength conversion pattern 353 at the third recessed pattern portion IDP3 can be compensated for.

[0134] The width of a portion of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353, which includes a third protruding pattern portion 353b and a third recessed pattern portion IDP3, along the first axis DR1 can be the same as the width of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353, which only includes a portion of the third main pattern portion 353a, along the first axis DR1. That is, the width of the third protruding pattern portion 353b along the first axis DR1 can be the same as the width of the third recessed pattern portion IDP3 along the reference line of the third main pattern portion 353a. In some exemplary embodiments, the width of the third protruding pattern portion 353b along the first axis DR1 can be greater than the width of the third recessed pattern portion IDP3 along the reference line of the third main pattern portion 353a, and in this case, the light extraction efficiency of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353 can generally be improved.

[0135] The third protruding pattern portion 353b may be arranged on the outer side of the imaginary extension of the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the second pixel PX2 on the axis of the pixel column, but this disclosure is not limited thereto. Alternatively, the third protruding pattern portion 353b may be arranged on the inner side of the imaginary extension of the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the second pixel PX2 on the axis of the pixel column.

[0136] In the planar view, light conversion patterns 351, 352, and 353 can be arranged in pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3, respectively. That is, in the planar view, the size of each of the light conversion patterns 351, 352, and 353 can be smaller than the size of the corresponding pixels in pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3, respectively. Accordingly, the light conversion patterns 351, 352, and 353 can be spaced apart from each other by pixel column boundaries (PCL).

[0137] The second cover layer 342 can be arranged on the light conversion patterns 351, 352 and 353. The second cover layer 342 can cover the light conversion patterns 351, 352 and 353.

[0138] The second cover layer 342 may include an inorganic material. The second cover layer 342 may include the same material as the first cover layer 341, and may include a material selected from the exemplary materials described above for the first cover layer 341.

[0139] The second light-shielding pattern 360 can be arranged on the second cover layer 342.

[0140] The second light-shielding pattern 360 prevents color mixing between pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3. The second light-shielding pattern 360 may include at least one of the exemplary materials described above for the first light-shielding pattern 320. For example, the second light-shielding pattern 360 may include an opaque organic material.

[0141] Similar to light conversion patterns 351, 352, and 353, the second light-shielding pattern 360 may include a stripe pattern. That is, the second light-shielding pattern 360 may be integrally arranged on the pixel along the pixel column boundary PCL.

[0142] The second light-shielding pattern 360 may overlap with the first light-shielding pattern 320 on the thickness axis. The second light-shielding pattern 360 may overlap with the first light-shielding pattern 320 at the pixel column boundary (PCL). In a planar view, the width of the second light-shielding pattern 360 may be the same as the width of the first light-shielding pattern 320. In some exemplary embodiments, in a planar view, the width of the second light-shielding pattern 360 may be greater than the width of the first light-shielding pattern 320.

[0143] The second light-blocking pattern 360 can be arranged between the light conversion patterns 351, 352, and 353 to fill the gaps between them. Furthermore, as... Figure 6 As shown, the second light-shielding pattern 360 can even extend to the surface of the light conversion patterns 351, 352 and 353.

[0144] The filler 70 may be disposed between the light provider 100 and the light converter 300. The filler 70 may be in direct contact with the thin film encapsulation layer 170 of the light provider 100 and the second cover layer 342 and the second light-shielding pattern 360 of the light converter 300.

[0145] The filler 70 can flatten the height difference created by the light conversion patterns 351, 352, and 353 and the second light-shielding pattern 360. The filler 70 may include a cushioning material and can therefore serve as a buffer capable of absorbing impacts that may occur between the light provider 100 and the light converter 300. In exemplary embodiments, for example, the filler 70 may include silicon-based organic materials, epoxy-based organic materials, acrylic organic materials, etc., but this disclosure is not limited thereto.

[0146] Reference Figure 8 and Figure 9 Light L1 (e.g., blue light) emitted by the organic layer OL can be incident on a first protruding pattern portion 351b, which includes a first wavelength conversion particle CCP1 and a scattering particle SP. Light L1 can be scattered by the scattering particle SP and can then be incident on a first color filter 331 to be absorbed (i.e., light L11) or travel to the first wavelength conversion particle CCP1 (i.e., light L12). The scattered light L12 from the first wavelength conversion particle CCP1 can be wavelength-converted by the first wavelength conversion particle CCP1.

[0147] Light L1 incident on the first wavelength conversion particle CCP1 can be wavelength-converted by the first wavelength conversion particle CCP1 to obtain light L21 and L22. A portion of light L22 can be absorbed by the first light-shielding pattern 320, but a portion of light L22 can be reflected by the first light-shielding pattern 320 to travel to the area where the first light-shielding pattern 320 is not arranged (i.e., the first light output area PA1, the second light output area PA2, and the third light output area PA3), or return to the first wavelength conversion pattern 351. A portion of the light (i.e., light L21) whose wavelength is converted by the first wavelength conversion particle CCP1 can travel diagonally upward along the axis to be emitted to the area where the first light-shielding pattern 320 is not arranged (i.e., the first light output area PA1 and the third light output area PA3). Since at least some of the light obtained from the incident light L1 by the first wavelength conversion particle CCP1 or the second wavelength conversion particle CCP2 is emitted to the first light output region PA1 and the third light output region PA3, the overall light efficiency of the display device 1 can be improved by the first wavelength conversion pattern 351 or the overall light efficiency of the display device 1 can be improved or at least maintained by the second wavelength conversion pattern 353.

[0148] Display devices according to other exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure will be described below. In the drawings, the same reference numerals indicate the same elements, and therefore, their descriptions will be omitted or at least simplified.

[0149] Figure 10 This is a cross-sectional view of a display device according to another exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure.

[0150] Reference Figure 10The display device 2 includes a color filter 330_1, and the color filter 330_1 is connected to... Figures 3 to 6 The difference with the color filters 330 is that they are arranged in pixels PX1, PX2 and PX3.

[0151] Specifically, color filter 330_1 can be arranged in pixels PX1, PX2, and PX3, and can overlap with light conversion patterns 351, 352, and 353 arranged below color filter 330_1 on the thickness axis (i.e., the third axis DR3). That is, the first protruding pattern portion 351b and the second protruding pattern portion 351c of the first wavelength conversion pattern 351 can overlap with the first color filter 331_1 arranged above the first wavelength conversion pattern 351, but not with the second color filter 332_1 and the third color filter 333_1, and the third protruding pattern portion 353b of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353 can overlap with the third color filter 333_1 arranged above the second wavelength conversion pattern 353, but not with the second color filter 332_1.

[0152] exist Figure 10 In an exemplary implementation, with Figures 3 to 6 Similar to the exemplary embodiment, the light L1 incident on the first protruding pattern portion 351b, the second protruding pattern portion 351c, and the third protruding pattern portion 353b undergoes wavelength conversion by the first wavelength conversion particle CCP1 or the second wavelength conversion particle CCP2, and a portion of the wavelength-converted light is emitted to the first light output region PA1 or the third light output region PA3. Accordingly, the overall light efficiency of the display device 2 can be improved by the first wavelength conversion pattern 351, or the overall light efficiency of the display device 2 can be improved or at least maintained by the second wavelength conversion pattern 353.

[0153] Figure 11 This is a plan view of yet another exemplary embodiment of the display device according to the present disclosure.

[0154] Reference Figure 11 The light-transmitting pattern 352_1 and the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_1 are respectively with Figures 4 to 8 The light-transmitting pattern 352 is different from the second wavelength conversion pattern 353.

[0155] Specifically, the light-transmitting pattern 352_1 may not include the second recessed pattern portion IDP2, and the short side of the light-transmitting pattern 352_1 in the second direction of the first axis DR1 may have a linear shape extending along the second axis DR2 in the planar view. The second wavelength conversion pattern 353_1 may not include the third protruding pattern portion 353b, and the short side of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_1 in the first direction of the first axis DR1 may have a linear shape extending along the second axis DR2 in the planar view. Figure 11As shown, the right side of the light transmission pattern 352_1 facing the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_1 and the left side of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_1 facing the light transmission pattern 352_1 can extend relative to each other.

[0156] The width W352b_1 of the portion of the light-transmitting pattern 352_1 with the first recessed pattern portion IDP1 on the first axis DR1 may be smaller than the width W352a of the portion of the light-transmitting pattern 352_1 without the first recessed pattern portion IDP1 on the first axis DR1.

[0157] The width W353b_1 of the portion of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_1 where the third recessed pattern portion IDP3 is arranged on the first axis DR1 may be smaller than the width W353a of the portion of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_1 where only the third main pattern portion 353a is arranged on the first axis DR1.

[0158] according to Figure 11 An exemplary implementation can prevent a reduction in the amount of light L1 (e.g., blue light) emitted through the light-transmitting pattern 352_1 of the second pixel PX2. Figure 11 In an exemplary implementation, with Figures 3 to 6 Similar to the exemplary embodiment, the light L1 incident on the first protruding pattern portion 351b and the second protruding pattern portion 351c of the first wavelength conversion pattern 351 undergoes wavelength conversion by the first wavelength conversion particle CCP1, and some of the wavelength-converted light is emitted to the first light output region PA1. Accordingly, the overall light efficiency of the display device 3 can be improved by the first wavelength conversion pattern 351.

[0159] Figure 12 This is a plan view of yet another exemplary embodiment of the display device according to the present disclosure.

[0160] Reference Figure 12 The first wavelength conversion pattern 351_1 and the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_2 are respectively with Figures 4 to 8 The first wavelength conversion pattern 352 and the second wavelength conversion pattern 353 are different.

[0161] Specifically, the first wavelength conversion pattern 351_1 may not include a protruding pattern portion protruding toward its adjacent second wavelength conversion pattern 353_2. The second wavelength conversion pattern 353_2 may not include a recessed pattern portion, and the short side of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_2 in the second direction of the first axis DR1 may have a linear shape extending along the second axis DR2 in a plan view. Figure 12As shown, the left side of the first wavelength conversion pattern 351_1 facing the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_2 and the right side of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_2 facing the first wavelength conversion pattern 351_1 can extend in opposite directions to each other.

[0162] exist Figure 12 In an exemplary embodiment, light incident on the second protruding pattern portion 351c of the first wavelength conversion pattern 351_1 and the third protruding pattern portion 353b of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_2 undergoes wavelength conversion by the first wavelength conversion particle CCP1 or the second wavelength conversion particle CCP2, respectively, and a portion of the wavelength-converted light is emitted to the first light output region PA1 or the third light output region PA3. Accordingly, the overall light efficiency of the display device 4 can be improved by the first wavelength conversion pattern 351_1 and the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_2.

[0163] Figure 13 This is a plan view of yet another exemplary embodiment of the display device according to the present disclosure.

[0164] Reference Figure 13 The first wavelength conversion pattern 351_2, the light-transmitting pattern 352_2, and the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_3 are respectively with Figure 4 The first wavelength conversion pattern 351, the light transmission pattern 352, and the second wavelength conversion pattern 353 differ in that they also include one or more protruding pattern portions and / or one or more recessed pattern portions in the region overlapping with the pixel column boundary PCL (e.g., in the region on the first axis DR1 that overlaps with the rows of the first light-emitting regions LA1, LA2, and LA3 of the first pixel PX1, the second pixel PX2, and the third pixel PX3).

[0165] Specifically, the first wavelength conversion pattern 351_2 may include a fourth protruding pattern portion 351d and a fifth protruding pattern portion 351e protruding from the first main pattern portion 351a on the first axis DR1 in a region that does not overlap with the pixel row boundary PRL. The fourth protruding pattern portion 351d and the fifth protruding pattern portion 351e may be arranged in the non-light-emitting region LB.

[0166] The fourth protruding pattern portion 351d may protrude from the left side of the first main pattern portion 351a toward a first direction of the first axis DR1 (i.e., toward the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_3 adjacent to the first wavelength conversion pattern 351_2), and the fifth protruding pattern portion 351e may protrude from the right side of the first main pattern portion 351a toward a second direction of the first axis DR1 (i.e., toward the light-transmitting pattern 352_2). The fourth protruding pattern portion 351d and the fifth protruding pattern portion 351e may be aligned with each other on the first axis DR1, but this disclosure is not limited thereto.

[0167] The fourth protruding pattern portion 351d and the fifth protruding pattern portion 351e may be arranged on the outer side of the imaginary extension of the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the third pixel PX3 and the first pattern extension line PEL1 of the second pixel PX2 on the axis of the pixel column, but this disclosure is not limited thereto. Alternatively, the fourth protruding pattern portion 351d and the fifth protruding pattern portion 351e may be arranged on the inner side of the imaginary extension of the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the third pixel PX3 and the first pattern extension line PEL1 of the second pixel PX2 on the axis of the pixel column, respectively.

[0168] The fourth protruding pattern portion 351d and the fifth protruding pattern portion 351e may have the same width, but this disclosure is not limited thereto. The fourth protruding pattern portion 351d and the fifth protruding pattern portion 351e may have the same width as the first protruding pattern portion 351b and the second protruding pattern portion 351c, but this disclosure is not limited thereto.

[0169] The fourth protruding pattern portion 351d and the fifth protruding pattern portion 351e may overlap with the first light-shielding pattern 320 and the first color filter 331 arranged above the first wavelength conversion pattern 351 on the thickness axis (i.e., the third axis DR3). That is, the fourth protruding pattern portion 351d may overlap with the portion of the first color filter 331 adjacent to the first color filter 331 on the thickness axis, and the fifth protruding pattern portion 351e may overlap with the portion of the second color filter 332 adjacent to the first color filter 331 on the thickness axis.

[0170] Since the first wavelength conversion pattern 351_2 includes not only the first protruding pattern portion 351b and the second protruding pattern portion 351c, but also the fourth protruding pattern portion 351d and the fifth protruding pattern portion 351e, and can therefore be extended into the non-light-emitting region LB, the wavelength conversion efficiency of the first wavelength conversion pattern 351_2 can generally be improved.

[0171] The width of the first wavelength conversion pattern 351_2, which includes all the first main pattern portions 351a, the fourth protruding pattern portion 351d, and a portion of the fifth protruding pattern portion 351e, on the first axis DR1 may be greater than the width of the first wavelength conversion pattern 351_2, which only includes a portion of the first main pattern portion 351a, on the first axis DR1.

[0172] The second main pattern portion 352a_2 of the light-transmitting pattern 352_2 may further include a fourth recessed pattern portion IDP4 and a fifth recessed pattern portion IDP5 recessed on the first axis DR1 in a region that does not overlap with the pixel row boundary PRL. The fourth recessed pattern portion IDP4 may be recessed toward a second direction of the first axis DR1 (i.e., in a direction away from the first wavelength conversion pattern 351_2), and the fifth recessed pattern portion IDP5 may be recessed toward a first direction of the first axis DR1 (i.e., in a direction away from the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_3).

[0173] The fourth recessed pattern portion IDP4 and the fifth recessed pattern portion IDP5 may be aligned with each other on the first axis DR1, but this disclosure is not limited thereto.

[0174] The fourth recessed pattern portion IDP4 and the fifth recessed pattern portion IDP5 may overlap with the first light-blocking pattern 320 and the second color filter 332 arranged above the fourth recessed pattern portion IDP4 and the fifth recessed pattern portion IDP5 on the thickness axis (i.e., the third axis DR3).

[0175] The width of a portion of the light-transmitting pattern 352_2 with the fourth recessed pattern portion IDP4 and the fifth recessed pattern portion IDP5 arranged on the first axis DR1 may be smaller than the width of a portion of the light-transmitting pattern 352_2 without the fourth recessed pattern portion IDP4 and the fifth recessed pattern portion IDP5 arranged on the first axis DR1. The width of the recess on either side of the second main pattern portion 352a_2 may be the same as the width of the fifth protruding pattern portion 351e or the sixth protruding pattern portion 353c of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_3, but this disclosure is not limited thereto. Alternatively, the width of the recess on either side of the second main pattern portion 352a_2 may be smaller than the width of the fifth protruding pattern portion 351e or the sixth protruding pattern portion 353c.

[0176] The fourth recessed pattern portion IDP4 and the fifth recessed pattern portion IDP5 may have the same width on their corresponding sides extending from the second main pattern portion 352a_2 on the second axis DR2, but this disclosure is not limited thereto.

[0177] In some exemplary embodiments, the light-transmitting pattern 352_2 may not include the fourth recessed pattern portion IDP4 and the fifth recessed pattern portion IDP5, and may have a linear shape extending on the second axis DR2.

[0178] The second wavelength conversion pattern 353_3 may include a sixth protruding pattern portion 353c protruding from the third main pattern portion 353a_3 on the first axis DR1 in a region that does not overlap with the pixel row boundary PRL, and a sixth recessed pattern portion IDP6 recessed on the first axis DR1 toward the inner side of the third pixel PX3. The sixth protruding pattern portion 353c may protrude from the third main pattern portion 353a_3 toward a first direction of the first axis DR1 (i.e., in the direction toward the light-transmitting pattern 352_2), and the sixth recessed pattern portion IDP6 may be recessed toward a first direction of the first axis DR1 (i.e., in the direction away from the first wavelength conversion pattern 351_2 adjacent to the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_3).

[0179] The sixth protruding pattern portion 353c may overlap with the first light-blocking pattern 320 and the third color filter 333 arranged above the sixth protruding pattern portion 353c on the thickness axis. Moreover, the sixth protruding pattern portion 353c may overlap with a portion of the second color filter 332 on the thickness axis.

[0180] Since the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_3 includes a sixth protruding pattern portion 353c and a sixth recessed pattern portion IDP6, the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_3 can have an enlarged area on one side and a reduced area on the other side. The sixth protruding pattern portion 353c is arranged to overlap with the first light-shielding pattern 320 arranged above the sixth protruding pattern portion 353c, but the incident light L1 (e.g., blue light) incident on the sixth protruding pattern portion 353c can be converted into light L3 (e.g., red light) by the second wavelength conversion particle CCP2, and can then be diagonally emitted upward to the third light output region PA3, which is not covered by the first light-shielding pattern 320. In other words, not only the third main pattern portion 353a_3, which is not covered by the first light-shielding pattern 320, but also the sixth protruding pattern portion 353c can help increase the amount of light that undergoes wavelength conversion through the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_3. Accordingly, any reduction in the amount of light whose wavelength is converted by the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_3 at the sixth recessed pattern portion IDP6 can be compensated.

[0181] The width of a portion of the third main pattern portion 353a_3, the sixth protruding pattern portion 353c, and the sixth recessed pattern portion IDP6 arranged in the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_3 along the first axis DR1 may be the same as the width of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_3 where only a portion of the third main pattern portion 353a_3 is arranged along the first axis DR1. That is, the width of the sixth protruding pattern portion 353c along the first axis DR1 may be the same as the width of the sixth recessed pattern portion IDP6 along the reference line of the third main pattern portion 353a_3. In some exemplary embodiments, the width of the sixth protruding pattern portion 353c along the first axis DR1 may be greater than the width of the sixth recessed pattern portion IDP6 along the reference line of the third main pattern portion 353a_3. In this case, the light extraction efficiency of the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_3 can generally be improved.

[0182] The sixth protruding pattern portion 353c may be arranged on the outer side of the imaginary extension of the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the second pixel PX2 on the axis of the pixel column, but this disclosure is not limited thereto. Alternatively, the sixth protruding pattern portion 353c may be arranged on the inner side of the imaginary extension of the second pattern extension line PEL2 of the second pixel PX2 on the axis of the pixel column. The sixth protruding pattern portion 353c and the sixth recessed pattern portion IDP6 may be aligned with each other on the first axis DR1, but this disclosure is not limited thereto.

[0183] Figure 14 This is a plan view of yet another exemplary embodiment of the display device according to the present disclosure.

[0184] Reference Figure 14 The first wavelength conversion pattern 351_2, the light-transmitting pattern 352_3, and the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_4 are respectively with Figure 11 The first wavelength conversion pattern 351, the light-transmitting pattern 352_1, and the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_1 differ in that they also include one or more protruding pattern portions and / or one or more recessed pattern portions in a region that does not overlap with the pixel row boundary PRL.

[0185] Specifically, the first wavelength conversion pattern 351_2 may further include a fourth protruding pattern portion 351d protruding toward the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_4 and a fifth protruding pattern portion 351e protruding toward the light-transmitting pattern 352_3 in a region that does not overlap with the pixel row boundary PRL. The light-transmitting pattern 352_3 may further include a fourth recessed pattern portion IDP4 recessed from the second main pattern portion 352a_3 in a direction away from the first wavelength conversion pattern 351_2, and the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_4 may further include a sixth recessed pattern portion IDP6 recessed from the third main pattern portion 353a_4 in a direction away from the first wavelength conversion pattern 351_2 adjacent to the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_4.

[0186] The fourth protruding pattern portion 351d, the fifth protruding pattern portion 351e, the fourth recessed pattern portion IDP4 and the sixth recessed pattern portion IDP6 are described above, and therefore, their detailed description will be omitted.

[0187] Figure 15 This is a plan view of yet another exemplary embodiment of the display device according to the present disclosure.

[0188] Reference Figure 15 The first wavelength conversion pattern 351_3, the light transmission pattern 352_4, and the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_5 are respectively with Figure 12 The first wavelength conversion pattern 351_1, the light-transmitting pattern 352, and the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_2 differ in that they also include one or more protruding pattern portions and / or one or more recessed pattern portions in a region that does not overlap with the pixel row boundary PRL.

[0189] Specifically, the first wavelength conversion pattern 351_3 may further include a fifth protruding pattern portion 351e protruding toward the light-transmitting pattern 352_4 in a region that does not overlap with the pixel row boundary PRL, and the second wavelength conversion pattern 353_5 may further include a sixth protruding pattern portion 353c protruding from the third main pattern portion 353a_5 toward the light-transmitting pattern 352_4.

[0190] The fifth protruding pattern portion 351e and the sixth protruding pattern portion 353c are described above, and therefore their detailed description will be omitted.

[0191] Figure 16 This is a plan view of yet another exemplary embodiment of the display device according to the present disclosure.

[0192] Reference Figure 16 Display device 8 and Figure 4 The difference in display device 1 is that it has light conversion patterns 351, 352, and 353 arranged thereon, but not at the PRL boundary of each pixel row. Figure 16 In the exemplary embodiments, the protruding pattern portions and / or recessed pattern portions are arranged at every two pixel row boundaries PRL, but this disclosure is not limited thereto. Alternatively, the protruding pattern portions and / or recessed pattern portions may be arranged at every three or more pixel row boundaries PRL.

[0193] Although not specifically shown, the protruding pattern portion and / or the recessed pattern portion may be arranged non-repeatingly in the first pixel PX1, the second pixel PX2 and the third pixel PX3 on the first axis DR1, but may not be arranged in adjacent first pixel PX1, second pixel PX2 and third pixel PX3 on the second axis DR2.

[0194] Figure 17 This is a cross-sectional view of yet another exemplary embodiment of the display device according to the present disclosure.

[0195] Reference Figure 17 The difference between display device 9 and display device 1 is that the color filter 330_2 includes a second color filter 332_2 disposed between the second base substrate 310 and the first light-shielding pattern 320_1.

[0196] Specifically, the second color filter 332_2 can be arranged in the first pixel PX1 and the third pixel PX3 to overlap with the first light-shielding pattern 320_1 on the thickness axis, and can also be arranged in the second pixel PX2, particularly between the first light-shielding pattern 320_1 and the second base substrate 310 to cover and contact the opposite side of the first light-shielding pattern 320_1 in the second pixel PX2.

[0197] The incident light from the outside onto the display device 9 can penetrate the second color filter 332_2 between the second base substrate 310 and the first light-shielding pattern 320_1. That is, the light penetrating the second color filter 332_2 can be blue light and can be reflected at the interface between the first light-shielding pattern 320_1 and the second color filter 332_2, so as to be emitted from the display device 9. When the aperture ratio of the second color filter 332_2 is smaller than the aperture ratio of the first color filter 331 and the third color filter 333, a [specific method / mechanism] can be used. Figure 17 Exemplary implementations.

[0198] While preferred exemplary embodiments of the invention have been disclosed for illustrative purposes, those skilled in the art will appreciate that various modifications, additions, and substitutions may be made without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention as disclosed in the appended claims.
