Abstract
Techniques for environmental contaminant monitoring are disclosed. In some embodiments, a contaminant detection system electrically excites (302) a test circuit shared with another circuit of an environment to cause an electrical anomaly in the test circuit when an environmental contaminant is present. While electrically exciting the first circuit, the contaminant detection system monitors (304) for the electrical anomaly indicative of the environmental contaminant. In response to detecting the electrical anomaly in the test circuit indicative of the environmental contaminant (306), the contaminant detection system generates an alert (310) indicating that the second circuit can have been exposed to the environmental contaminant. The contaminant detection system can provide early warning of a potentially corrosive environment before creep corrosion or similar phenomena manifest in expensive hardware resources. As a result, hardware outages can be mitigated or avoided.
