Abstract

Disclosed herein are screw inserter instruments and methods for implanting bone screws. In one exemplary embodiment, the screw inserter instrument may include a drive shaft, a retaining sleeve disposed about the drive shaft, and a locking sleeve disposed about the retaining sleeve. The locking sleeve may have a first position, in which rotation of the drive shaft causes corresponding rotation of the retaining sleeve while the locking sleeve remains stationary, and a second position, in which rotation of the locking sleeve causes corresponding rotation of the retaining sleeve while the drive shaft remains stationary.
