Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present disclosure relates to an assembly for applying a liquid or pasty product, and more particularly, to a wiper for an applicator of a liquid or pasty product. In particular, the wiper can be used in the cosmetic field. Background Art
[0002] For example, in the field of make-up or cosmetics, it is well known to use various applicators suitable for applying products to the body or face in order to apply liquid or pasty products. Generally, most of these applicators include an application member mounted on the end of a rod. The application member is inserted into a container containing the cosmetic product to allow it to be impregnated and then withdrawn from the container to continue the application in the strict sense. In order to remove from the application member any excess product adhering to it, a wiper is usually provided on the neck of the container. For example, the applicant's international application WO 2016 / 156742 A1 describes a wiping device particularly suitable for a mascara brush, which can distribute mascara on the brush and push excess mascara on the brush back into the container.
[0003] While this device is satisfactory, other types of wipers may be more suitable for other products or other applicators. In particular, depending on the type and viscosity of the product to be applied and the shape of the applicator member, although the wiper works, droplets may remain at the end of the applicator member. Such droplets may form unsightly clumps on the part of the body to be made up, or even fall off the applicator before it can be deposited, causing a mess. Therefore, a new type of wiper is needed. Summary of the invention
[0004] To this end, the present disclosure relates to a wiper for an applicator of a liquid or pasty product, the wiper comprising an attachment portion and a tubular wiping sleeve connected to the attachment portion, the attachment portion being configured to attach the wiper to an opening of a container capable of containing the product, wherein the wiping sleeve is more flexible than the attachment portion and the end of the wiping sleeve opposite to the attachment portion forms an annular lip which is chamfered relative to the exit direction of the applicator through the wiper.
[0005] The attachment portion is configured to attach the wiper at an opening of the container. It should be understood that this is an opening through which the applicator can be inserted into the container and withdrawn from the container so that it is impregnated with the product contained in the container. The wiper can be attached to the container so that any withdrawal of the applicator through the opening causes the applicator to also pass through the wiper.
[0006] Furthermore, the shape of the wiper, in particular the tubular shape of the wiping sleeve, restricts the way in which the applicator can be passed through the wiper. Thus, the shape of the wiper essentially defines the insertion and withdrawal directions of the applicator through the wiper, especially in view of the conventional shape and size of the applicator. Since the insertion direction and the withdrawal direction are usually colinear, these terms will be used interchangeably in the following, unless otherwise expressly specified or in view of the context. For example, the withdrawal direction may correspond generally to the axis of the wiper, or even to the axis of the wiping sleeve, the geometry of the wiper and the conventional construction of the applicator allowing at most a limited travel around this axis.
[0007] The term "sleeve" is understood to mean a tubular element. Unlike a gasket, the dimension of a sleeve along the axis of the tube is greater than its thickness transversely to said axis. For example, the dimension of a wiping sleeve along its axis may be between 5 mm (millimeters) and 20 mm. For example, the thickness of a wiping sleeve transversely to its axis may be between 0.3 mm and 2 mm.
[0008] A lip formed at one end of the wiping sleeve defines an orifice for the passage of the applicator through the wiper. Since this orifice is chamfered, it is inclined relative to a plane orthogonal to the withdrawal direction and / or relative to a plane orthogonal to the axis of the wiper or even the axis of the sleeve. For the sake of simplicity, the term "chamfered lip" will be used subsequently.
[0009] In the above-mentioned wiper, the flexibility of the wiping sleeve and the lip provided with a chamfer interact to improve the wiping of the applicator: due to the chamfered shape of the lip, during the passage of the applicator through the wiping sleeve in the exit direction, in response to the deformation of the entire wiping sleeve, the distal part of the lip is displaced to scrape the end of the applicator and remove any droplets of product that may still remain on the applicator. In addition, due to its flexibility, the wiping sleeve can be deformed or adapted as much as possible to the shape of the applicator to be wiped. According to one possible operation, during the passage of the applicator, the wiping sleeve can be deformed by bending back towards itself so that it can follow the shape of the applicator as much as possible and can discharge the excess product towards the inside of the container; this particular type of deformation is sometimes called the "sock effect".
[0010] At the same time, due to the fact that the flexibility of the attachment portion is less than the flexibility of the wiper sleeve, the attachment of the wiper to the container can be effectively maintained while the applicator passes through the wiper.
[0011] In some embodiments, the wiping sleeve comprises a frustoconical portion that tapers in the direction of the lip, the lip being defined by the end of the frustoconical portion. For example, the frustoconical portion may be defined by a cone with an angle at the tip between 40° and 140°, or even between 45° and 120°. The axis of the cone may be inclined relative to the axis of the wiper, so that the position and orientation of the orifice may be accurately defined. The presence of the frustoconical portion increases the ability of the wiping sleeve to deform itself to obtain a sock effect. In addition, the inclined wall of the wiping sleeve facilitates the discharge of excess product wiped by the wiper towards the container.
[0012] In some embodiments, the lip defines a convex orifice in cross section. The convex orifice is such that for any two points belonging to the orifice, the straight line segment connecting these two points is completely contained in the orifice. This facilitates the deformation of the lip and enables it to better scrape the applicator. For example, the orifice can be circular or elliptical in shape.
[0013] In some embodiments, the wiper sleeve comprises a wall adjacent to the lip, the thickness of the wall being less than 0.7 mm, preferably less than 0.5 mm. Alternatively, the thickness of the wall may be greater than 0.1 mm, preferably 0.3 mm. Therefore, the wall and the lip are easily deformed.
[0014] In some embodiments, regardless of its thickness, the wall has a hardness between 30 and 60 Shore A.
[0015] In some embodiments, the lip is contained in a plane that forms an angle of between 10° and 80°, preferably between 20° and 70°, preferably between 30° and 60°, preferably about 45° with the exit direction.
[0016] In some embodiments, the attachment portion is made of a first material and the wiping sleeve is made of a second material having a hardness and / or stiffness less than that of the first material. This further promotes deformation of the wiping sleeve and prevents damage to the applicator. Hardness can be measured using a Shore scale or a Vickers scale. Stiffness can be measured using a Young's modulus.
[0017] In some embodiments, the maximum length of the wiping sleeve in the withdrawal direction (more particularly, the length of the aforementioned frustoconical portion excluding the portion fastening the wiping sleeve to the attachment portion) is greater than the widest inner radius of the wiping sleeve transverse to said direction. Due to these features, by deformation, the wiping sleeve can reach all the way to the most central part of the applicator, thereby increasing the effectiveness of wiping.
[0018] In some embodiments, the diameter of the orifice defined by the lip is between 2 mm and 8 mm, preferably between 3 mm and 7 mm, more preferably between 4 mm and 6 mm, preferably about 5 mm. This dimension is preferably measured in the plane of the orifice, the orifice being flat or substantially flat. When the orifice is any shape other than circular, such as elliptical or oval, the diameter of the orifice refers to any dimension of the orifice, for example, its largest dimension and / or its smallest dimension.
[0019] The present disclosure also relates to an assembly for applying a liquid or pasty product, the assembly comprising a container having an opening, an applicator having a stem provided with an application member and a wiper as previously defined attached to the opening of the container. Preferably, the wiper is attached to the container so that the wiping sleeve is closer to the interior of the container than the attachment portion. This allows better preservation of the product in the container.
[0020] In some embodiments, the minimum inner diameter of the wiper sleeve transverse to the withdrawal direction is smaller than the diameter of the cross section of the rod. Thus, when the rod is in the orifice, the wiper sleeve has at least one portion fastened to the rod capable of scraping the product along the rod. Depending on the shape of the wiper sleeve, the minimum inner diameter of the wiper sleeve transverse to the withdrawal direction may reach the level of the lip or of the portion of the wiper sleeve remote from the lip.
[0021] In some embodiments, the application member is eccentric relative to the axis of the rod, or the orifice is eccentric relative to the withdrawal direction. The axis of the rod generally corresponds to the withdrawal direction. When the orifice of the wiper is centered relative to the withdrawal direction, the fact that the application member is eccentric allows the application member to fit more tightly with one side of the wiping sleeve, in particular the lip. This leads to a greater deformation of the wiping sleeve when the applicator passes through, and therefore, increases the effectiveness of the wiper. This fit can also be obtained when the orifice of the wiper is eccentric relative to the withdrawal direction, in which case the application member can be along the axis of the rod.
[0022] In some embodiments, the application member has a recess in its cross section. The recess can serve as a storage area for the product. Specifically, the lip of the wiper deformed and tightened around the application member does not enter the recess forming the storage area, so the remaining product can be preserved. As the applicator is used, the remaining product can be gradually delivered to the application member, thereby avoiding too frequent replenishment of the applicator.
[0023] In some embodiments, transversely to the rod, at least one dimension of the applicator is larger than the rod. Thus, the wiping of the applicator member is carried out with a tighter grip than the wiping of the rod. Furthermore, the applicator member is susceptible to deformation by the sock effect of the wiping sleeve, even if the rod does not cause such deformation. This results in better wiping. [0024] The invention and its advantages will be better understood by reading the following detailed description of embodiments given by way of non-limiting examples. This description refers to the accompanying drawings, in which:

[0032] Will refer to Figures 1 to 4 Unless otherwise explicitly stated or in view of the context, in the components of the present disclosure, the wiper 10 is described as being static, ie, without any force causing deformation visible to the naked eye.
[0033] Figure 1 A stereoscopic view of a wiper 10 is shown, which is configured as an applicator for wiping liquid or pasty products. As shown, the wiper 10 has a generally tubular or even annular shape around an axis X. The axis X of the wiper 10 defines an axial direction, which is also the exit direction of the applicator through the wiper 10. The radial direction is a direction perpendicular to the axis X and cutting the axis X. Similarly, an axial plane is a plane containing the axis X of the wiper, and a radial plane is a plane perpendicular to the axis X. The circumference extends as a circle belonging to the radial plane, and the center of the circumference belongs to the axis X of the wiper. The tangent or circumferential direction is a direction tangential to the circumference; it is perpendicular to the axis X of the wiper, but does not pass through the axis X.
[0034] Unless expressly stated otherwise or departing from the scope, the adjectives “inner” and “outer” are used with reference to a radial direction, such that an inner portion of an element is closer in radial direction to the axis X of the wiper than an outer portion of the same element.
[0035] As previously described, the wiper 10 includes the attachment portion 20 and the wiping sleeve 30 .
[0036] In this embodiment, the attachment portion comprises a body 28. The body 28 is here annular about the axis X, having a rotational symmetry, and is substantially cylindrical.
[0037] In this embodiment, the attachment portion 20 comprises a flange 22 generally at the axial end of the body 28 opposite the wiping sleeve 30, where the flange 22 projects radially outwards. Figure 5 As shown, the flange 22 forms an axial stop for engagement of the attachment portion 20 in the opening 56 of the container 50. The flange 22 may be annular.
[0038] In this embodiment, the attachment portion 20 also includes a seam 24 in a portion of the body 28 between the wiping sleeve 30 and the flange 22 that protrudes radially to the outside of the body 28. Figure 5 As shown, the seam 24 is intended to cooperate with the neck 54 of the container 50 , for example by tightening or locking, so as to retain the attachment portion 20 in the neck 54 of the container 50 .
[0039] Thus, it should be more generally understood that the attachment portion 20 is configured to attach the wiper 10 to the opening 56 of the container 50. In this case, the attachment portion cooperates with the edge of the opening 56 (here, the neck 54) to keep the wiper 10 at least mostly or, as shown, completely contained within the opening 56, here, the neck 54. By doing so, when the applicator 60 is inserted or withdrawn through the opening 56, it also passes through the wiper 10.
[0040] The attachment portion 20 may take other forms than those previously described, for example it may take the form of one or more attachment lugs.
[0041] Here, the wiper sleeve 30 is connected to the attachment portion 20 at an axial end portion of the attachment portion 20 opposite to the flange 22 .
[0042] In this embodiment, the wiper sleeve 30 comprises a fastening portion 32. The fastening portion 32 is substantially annular about the axis X with rotational symmetry.
[0043] In this embodiment, the fastening portion 32 is extended by a wall 34 which is generally frustoconical here about the axis X. The wall 34 may be solid in the sense that it does not comprise any radial openings. The wall 34 may taper in the axial direction from the fastening portion 32 all the way to the opposite end of the wall 34 where the lip 38 is formed. Thus, the lip 38 is located at the end of the wiping sleeve 30 opposite to the attachment portion 20. The lip 38 is annular and extends continuously about the axis X. Thus, the lip 38 defines an orifice 40 for the passage of the applicator. Thus, as previously mentioned, the wiping sleeve 30 is tubular. In this case, the axis of the wiping sleeve 30 is colinear with the axis X of the wiper 10.
[0044] As previously mentioned, the orifice 40 is chamfered relative to the exit direction of the applicator through the wiper 10. In this case, as shown in FIG. Figure 3 As can be clearly seen in the figure, since the withdrawal direction is colinear with the axis X of the wiper 10, the lip 38 and the orifice 40 are inclined relative to a plane orthogonal to the axis X of the wiper. As in this embodiment, the lip 38 can be contained in a plane hereinafter referred to as the middle plane, or substantially contained in a plane. Typically, the withdrawal direction X and the plane of the lip 38 or, where applicable, its middle plane form an angle A between them, which is different from 90°, preferably also different from 0°, for example between 10° and 80°, for example, as shown in the figure, about 45°.
[0045] Since the lip 38 is chamfered, it has a proximal end 38 a which is a portion of the lip 38 closest to the attachment portion 20 and a distal end 38 b which is a portion of the lip 38 farthest from the attachment portion 20 .
[0046] The orifice 40 may be circular in the plane to which it belongs. For example, the orifice may be a disk having a diameter of 5 mm. Figure 2 As shown, due to its inclination, the orifice appears elliptical in a view transverse to the axis X. Conversely, the orifice 40 may be elliptical in its plane so that its orthogonal projection along the axis X is circular or not; in this embodiment, it would be oblique from the perspective of the orifice 40 in the plane of the orifice. Figure 2 More generally, the orifice 40 may be configured to be convex. Recall that a convex shape is such that when any two points belong to the shape, the straight line segment connecting the two points also belongs to the shape.
[0047] like Figure 3 As shown, the dimensions of the wall 34 can be designed so that the maximum length L of the wiper sleeve 30 or even the wall 34 in the withdrawal direction X is greater than the maximum inner radius R of the wiper sleeve 30 transverse to said direction X. Therefore, as described below, the distal end 38b of the lip 38 can reach a portion relatively close to the axis X by deforming inwardly.
[0048] Furthermore, it should be noted that the wall 34 is thinned relative to the fastening portion 32, thereby giving the wall 34 a relatively high degree of flexibility for wiping, and giving the fastening portion 32 a relatively high degree of rigidity for successful connection with the attachment portion 20. For example, the fastening portion 32 may be at least twice as thick as the wall 34, or even at least three times as thick. Moreover, here, the wall 34 has a substantially constant thickness.
[0049] The fastening portion 32 and the wall 34 meet at the connecting portion 33. In this embodiment, the connecting portion 33 realizes a continuous transition between the fastening portion 32 and the wall 34. The connecting portion 33 may define at least one of the following changes: a change in the shape of the wiping sleeve 30 (from the overall cylindrical shape of the fastening portion 32 to the overall frustoconical shape of the wall 34); a change in the thickness of the wiping sleeve 30 (the thickness between the fastening portion 32 and the wall 34 is reduced by at least a factor of two); a change in the flexibility of the wiping sleeve 30 (here, essentially associated with a change in thickness).
[0050] like Figure 4 As shown, in this embodiment, the attachment portion 20 is a separate component from the wiping sleeve 30. In this case, the attachment portion 20 is made of a first material, and the wiping sleeve 30 is made of a second material having a lower hardness and / or stiffness than the first material. Therefore, the wiping sleeve 30 is more flexible than the attachment portion 20. For example, the attachment portion 20 can be made of at least one of the following materials: low-density polyethylene; high-density polyethylene. In addition, the wiping sleeve 30 can be made of an elastomer (usually a thermoplastic elastomer). The material of the wiping sleeve 30 can be selected so that its hardness is between 30 and 60 Shore hardness.
[0051] For example, the attachment portion 20 and the wiping sleeve 30 can be connected to each other by assembly in any known suitable manner. In addition, the wiping sleeve 30 can be located in an extension of the attachment portion 20. In this embodiment, the wiping sleeve 30 is first manufactured and then the attachment portion 20 is overmolded on the wiping sleeve 30. The overmolding, which is known per se, chemically bonds between the attachment portion 20 and the wiping sleeve 30. In order to further limit the risk of the attachment portion 20 being separated from the wiping sleeve 30, one or more mechanical joints can also be provided between the attachment portion 20 and the wiping sleeve 30, independently of the previous arrangement. Figure 3 and Figure 4As shown, here, the axial engagement is allowed by additional annular radial ribs, while here, the circumferential engagement is allowed by the cooperation of the dog 36 of the wiping sleeve and the hole 26 corresponding to the attachment part 20. It should be noted that the dog 36 and the hole 26 have a radial component and a circumferential component. However, only one of them can be provided. In order not to hinder the wiping function of the wall 34, a system for engaging the wiping sleeve 30, namely the ribs and the dog 36, should be provided, which is more precisely arranged on the fastening part 32.
[0052] However, according to another embodiment, the attachment portion 20 and the wiping sleeve 30 may form two parts of one and the same component. The flexibility difference between the attachment portion 20 and the wiping sleeve 30 may then be obtained by a thickness difference or any other method deemed suitable by a person skilled in the art.
[0053] Figure 5 An assembly for applying a liquid or pasty product is schematically shown in cross section, the assembly comprising a container 50, an applicator 60 and the previously described wiper 10. Here, the container is a bottle and comprises a body 52 and a neck 54 defining an opening 56. More generally, any container having an opening can be used. As previously described, the wiper 10 is attached to the opening 56 of the container 50. More precisely, in this case, the wiper 10 is mounted inside the neck 54, which is then housed at a stop in a shoulder formed between the body 28 and the flange 22 of the attachment 20.
[0054] The applicator 60 comprises a rod 62, which here is equipped with an application member 64 arranged at one end of the rod 62. In this embodiment, the application member 64 has a general water drop shape in a side view, and the tip of the drop is opposite to the rod 62. However, those skilled in the art may choose other shapes. Figure 6 As can be seen in FIG, the application member 64 is also eccentric relative to the axis Y of the rod. The composition of the application member 64 can be arranged to absorb the liquid or pasty product contained in the container 50; for example, the application member 64 can at least partially include a porous material. Alternatively or additionally, the application member 64 can be flocked.
[0055] Now, refer to Figure 5 and Figure 7 The cooperation of the applicator 60 and the wiper 10 during the movement of the applicator 60 being withdrawn from the container 50 is described.
[0056] In the initial position, the applicator 60 is inserted in the container 50 so that the wiper 10 cooperates with the rod 62. In particular, the minimum inner diameter D of the wiper sleeve 30 transverse to the withdrawal direction X can be set smaller than the diameter of the cross section of the rod 62. Figure 2As shown, here, the minimum inner diameter D corresponds to the minimum diameter of the orifice 40 in a projection parallel to the withdrawal direction X. In this way, not only is the wiping sleeve 30 able to scrape the product remaining on the rod 62, but in addition, the deformation of the wiping sleeve 30 about the rod 62 has the effect of centering the rod 62 relative to the wiper 10, so that the withdrawal direction X is colinear with the axis Y of the rod.
[0057] As the applicator 60 is gradually withdrawn in the withdrawal direction X, the lip 38 of the wiper 10 contacts the application member 64. In this embodiment, the transverse dimension of the application member 64 is greater than the transverse dimension of the rod 62, and therefore necessarily greater than the minimum inner diameter D of the wiper sleeve. Therefore, the lip 38 can scrape the application member 64 appropriately.
[0058] Depending on the relative orientation between the applicator member 64 and the lip 38, the proximal end 38a of the lip 38 can rotate on itself towards the interior of the wiping sleeve 30, and / or the distal end 38b of the lip 38 can rotate on itself towards the interior of the wiping sleeve 30. The inner portion of the lip 38 between the proximal end 38a and the distal end 38b occupies a position in which they rotate on themselves more or less, depending on the position of the proximal end 38a and the distal end 38b. Thus, different degrees of sock effect can be obtained. Figure 5 Examples of deformations of the lip 38 and the wiper sleeve 30 are schematically shown.
[0059] When the distal end or tip of the applicator member 64 reaches the orifice 40, the cooperation between the wiping sleeve 30 and the applicator member changes: since the lip 38 is chamfered, the proximal end 38a is mainly in contact with the applicator member 64. The deformation of the lip 38 at its proximal end 38a pulls the distal end 38b towards the proximal end 38a by a force distributed along the lip 38. Thus, the stretched distal end 38b approaches the axis X of the wiper 10, making it possible to scrape off drops of product that may form at the end of the applicator member 64. Thus, the applicator member 64 is properly wiped.
[0060] Figure 7 It is shown that the application member 64 as described above may include a recess 68 in a cross section, where the recess 68 is formed by the shape of the application member 64. Figure 7 As shown, when the application member 64 passes through the orifice 40, the lip 38 is deformed around the applicator. The lip 38 is stretched tight and therefore does not enter the recess 68, and a portion of the lip 38 is Figure 7 Thus, the reserve product can be stored in the application member 64 itself.

In particular, the individual features of the different embodiments shown / mentioned may be combined in further embodiments.
