Auxiliary Power System Control for Hybrid Power Plants

Abstract

According to the embodiments described herein, control of the auxiliary power system in the hybrid power plant (310) is provided by: determining a grid extraction threshold from an external grid (320); monitoring power consumption of the receiving systems (312, 313) of the hybrid power plant (310); monitoring power generation of the hybrid power plant (310); discharging an alternative power source of one or more of the energy storage system ESS (314) and the auxiliary generator (315) in response to power consumption exceeding the grid extraction threshold; and implementing a prediction algorithm for power generation and power consumption of the hybrid power plant (310). Thus, power is managed between several alternative sources (314, 315) and the external grid (320) to meet the criteria defined by the power plant operator when maintaining power under various wind speed conditions.
