Abstract

In a sanitary appliance (2) having a programmable electronic control unit (12) acting on a metering and mixing valve unit (5), the electronic control unit (12) includes a program memory (16) suitable for recalling and storing multiple different water dispensing programs and a central data processing unit (13) acting on at least one actuator that operates the metering and mixing valve unit (5). A user interface (17) for selecting programs and manually modifying the selected water dispensing program has a display (18) with a central display area (28) and a peripheral display area (29) surrounding it in a ring, a rotatable setting ring (19) extending around the display (18), and at least three switch surfaces (21) arranged around it. The switch surfaces (21) of the user interface (17) include a program selection switch surface (23), an output switch surface (25), and a temperature switch surface (26), which are operated to process signals provided by a setting ring rotation sensor (22) accordingly. By operating the switch surfaces, the current setting value of the relevant switch surface function is displayed in the central display area (28) of the display (18).
