[0001] Cross-references to related applications
[0002] This application claims the benefit of priority to Korean Patent Application No. 10-2021-0003615, filed on January 11, 2021, and Korean Patent Application No. 10-2022-0001809, filed on January 5, 2022, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. Technical Field
[0003] The present invention relates to an electrode connection device capable of aligning and connecting two sheets (i.e., films) in the longitudinal direction, an electrode connection method, and a grooving machine including the electrode connection device. Background Technology
[0004] Generally, unlike non-rechargeable primary batteries, secondary batteries refer to batteries that can be both recharged and discharged. These secondary batteries are widely used in mobile phones, laptops, cameras, electric vehicles, and more.
[0005] The secondary battery includes an electrode assembly and a housing containing the electrode assembly. The electrode assembly has a structure in which electrodes and a separator are alternately stacked. Here, an electrode tab is formed at each electrode.
[0006] Furthermore, the electrode tabs are manufactured by a grooving process, which uses: a winding roller on which a strip of sheet is wound; a grooving component that grooves the uncoated portion of the sheet supplied from the winding roller to manufacture the electrode tabs; and a collecting roller that collects the sheet on which the electrode tabs are manufactured.
[0007] Here, when all the sheets wound on the winding rollers have been supplied in the grooving process, a new winding roller is installed after the used winding rollers are removed, and then the grooving process is performed again.
[0008] Here, the grooving process is performed again after the end of the sheet remaining in the used winding roller is connected to the end of the sheet wound on the new winding roller.
[0009] However, when the sheet remaining in the used winding roller is connected to the sheet wound on the new winding roller, grooving defects occur due to the formation of stepped areas. Summary of the Invention

[0043] In the following, embodiments of the invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings to enable those skilled in the art to readily implement these embodiments. However, the invention can be implemented in various different forms and is not limited to the embodiments described herein. Furthermore, in the drawings, details irrelevant to the description will be omitted for clarity, and similar reference numerals will be used throughout the specification to denote similar elements.
[0044] [Electrode connection device according to the first embodiment of the present invention]
[0045] According to the first embodiment of the present invention, the electrode connection device 1 aligns and connects the end of the front sheet (hereinafter referred to as the front sheet) with the end of the rear sheet (hereinafter referred to as the rear sheet) in the length direction, thereby preventing the formation of a step area between the front sheet and the rear sheet.
[0046] That is, refer to Figure 1 and 4 According to the first embodiment of the present invention, the electrode connection device 1 includes: an arrangement member 100 provided with an arrangement component 120, wherein the end of a front sheet 10 and the end of a rear sheet 20 are adjacent to or overlap on the arrangement member 120; and a guide member 220 including a guide rod 221, the guide rod 221 being configured to be in a support position ( Figure 1 The position "A" shown in the figure and the retracted position ( Figure 1 The support position (retracted position) moves between positions "B" shown, which supports the sides of the front sheet 10 and the rear sheet 20 during the connection of the end of the front sheet 10 to the end of the rear sheet 20, and does not interfere with the movement of the front sheet 10 and the rear sheet 20. Therefore, the ends of the front sheet and the rear sheet can be arranged accordingly, so that the ends of the front sheet can be aligned and connected with the ends of the rear sheet.
[0047] In the following, the electrode connection device 1 according to the first embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0048] like Figures 1 to 6As shown, the electrode connection device 1 according to the first embodiment of the present invention includes an arrangement member 100, an alignment device 200 provided with a driving member 210 and a guiding member 220, a detection member 300, a cutting member 400, a suction member 500 and an adhesive member 600.
[0049] Furthermore, the first sheet 10 has an elongated sheet shape, and an uncoated portion 11 without electrode active material is formed on one side of its width direction. Similarly, the second sheet 20 has an elongated sheet shape, and an uncoated portion 21 without electrode active material is formed on one side of its width direction.
[0050] Here, the front sheet 10 and the rear sheet 20 have the same polarity. That is, the front sheet 10 and the rear sheet 20 can be positive electrode sheets or negative electrode sheets.
[0051] Arrangement of components
[0052] Arrangement component 100 includes: disposed on one side (when in Figure 1 When viewed from the center, the fixing component 110 is located on the left side of the arrangement component; the fixing component 110 is located on the other side (when viewed from the center). Figure 1 When viewed from the center, the arrangement member 120 is on the right side of the arrangement member, and the ends of the front sheet 10 and the rear sheet 20 are arranged on the arrangement member 120 so as to correspond to each other; and the path line 130 is provided at the support position A indicated between the fixing member 110 and the arrangement member 120.
[0053] The fixing member 110 is used to support the guide member 220, which includes the guide rod 221 that has moved to the retracted position B. That is, the fixing member 110 has a flat surface so that the guide member can move horizontally forward or backward on the flat surface.
[0054] The arrangement component 120 is used to correspondingly arrange the ends of the front sheet 10 and the rear sheet 20. That is, the arrangement component 120 includes: a side arrangement surface 121, said side arrangement surface 121 being disposed on a surface on the other side (when in...). Figure 1 When viewed from the center, the upper right surface of the arrangement component is arranged therein, and the end of the previous sheet 10 is located on the arrangement surface 121 on that side; and the other side arrangement surface 122 is disposed on another surface on the other side (when viewed from the center). Figure 1 When viewed from the middle, the lower surface on the right side of the arrangement component is arranged, and the end of the latter sheet 20 is located on the other side arrangement surface 122.
[0055] Here, the ends of the front sheet 10 and the rear sheet 20 are arranged to correspond to the surface 121 on one side and the surface 122 on the other side, respectively.
[0056] Path line 130 is used to indicate support position A. That is, path line 130 serves as a reference point for aligning the ends of the preceding sheet 10 and the following sheet 20 arranged in the arrangement component 120. This path line 130 is in the conveying direction of the preceding sheet (when in... Figure 3 The path line 130 is elongated in the left-right direction when viewed from the center and can be represented as a straight line or a dashed line on the surface of the arrangement member 100 between the fixed member 110 and the arrangement member 120. Here, the path line 130 can be indicated by a color such as red or yellow to increase its indicative ability.
[0057] Specifically, refer to Figure 1 In the enlarged view, the path line 130 can be detachably disposed from the surface of the arrangement member 100. That is, the path line 130 may have a rod shape and be detachably coupled to the coupling groove 131 formed in the surface of the arrangement member 100. Furthermore, the path line 130 has a thickness of 0.3 mm to 2 mm, preferably 0.5 mm to 0.1 mm, in the entire width direction (the sheet width direction perpendicular to the sheet conveying direction), and may be made of a non-metallic material to increase strength.
[0058] Alignment device
[0059] The alignment device 200 is used to match and align the ends of the front sheet and the rear sheet arranged on the arrangement member. That is, the alignment device 200 includes: a drive member 210 fixed to the fixing member 110; and a guide member 220 provided with a guide rod 221, which moves forward to the path line 130 by the drive member 210 and supports the ends of the front sheet and the rear sheet such that both ends are located at the support position A where the path line is located.
[0060] The drive member 210 includes a cylinder that moves the guide member 220 forward toward the path line 130, thereby positioning the guide rod 221 at a support position A where the path line 130 is set, or moving the guide member 220 backward to a retracted position B, thereby preventing interference during the movement of the preceding and following sheets. Here, the drive member 210 moves the guide member 220 forward such that the support surface 221a of the guide rod 221 is positioned to align with the path line 130, and the ends of the preceding sheet 10 and the following sheet 20 are supported on the support surface 221a of the guide rod 221.
[0061] Furthermore, the arrangement component 100 may include a position detection sensor, which detects the support surface 221a of the guide rod 221 located at the path line 130 and stops the drive component 210. That is, the position detection sensor can accurately position the support surface 221a of the guide rod 221 to the path line 130.
[0062] The guide member 220 supports the ends of the preceding sheet and the following sheet, positioning both ends on the path line 130. Specifically, the guide member 220 includes a guide rod 221, which moves forward via the drive member 210 to the path line 130 and supports the side of the preceding sheet 10 (when...). Figure 1 When viewed from the center, the left side portion of the front sheet in the width direction and the side portion of the rear sheet 20 (when viewed from the center) Figure 1 When viewed from the center, the left side portion of the rear sheet in the width direction is visible. Therefore, the guide rod 221 simultaneously supports the side of the front sheet 10 and the side of the rear sheet 20, resulting in the front sheet 10 being positioned to match the rear sheet 20.
[0063] Detection components
[0064] The detection component 300 is used to detect whether the ends of the front sheet and the rear sheet are supported on the guide rod. That is, the detection component 300 includes a first detection sensor 310 and a second detection sensor 320. The first detection sensor 310 is disposed on one side of the support surface 221a of the guide rod 221 and detects the side of the front sheet 10. The second detection sensor 320 is disposed on the other side of the support surface 221a of the guide rod 221 and detects the side of the rear sheet 20.
[0065] With the detection member 300 having the above-described structure, it can be known that when a detection signal is generated in the first detection sensor 310 and the second detection sensor 320, the sides of the front sheet 10 and the rear sheet 20 are both supported on the guide rod 221. Furthermore, when a detection signal is generated in only one of the first detection sensor 310 and the second detection sensor 320, it can be known that only one of the sides of the front sheet 10 and the rear sheet 20 is supported on the guide rod 221. Additionally, when no detection signal is generated in either the first detection sensor 310 or the second detection sensor 320, it can be known that neither the side of the front sheet 10 nor the side of the rear sheet 20 is supported on the guide rod 221.
[0066] Therefore, based on the detection signal, it can be conveniently confirmed by the detection component 300 whether the side of the front sheet 10 and the side of the rear sheet 20 are supported on the guide rod 221, that is, whether the side of the front sheet 10 and the side of the rear sheet 20 are located at the support position A. In addition, the detection component can be set as a pressure sensor.
[0067] In addition, such as Figure 5 As shown, when the end face 12 of the front sheet 10 and the end face 22 of the rear sheet 20 arranged in the arrangement component do not match, the mismatched end faces 12 of the front sheet 10 and the end faces 22 of the rear sheet 20 are arranged to overlap each other and then cut by the cutting member 400, so that the end of the front sheet 10 can match the end of the rear sheet 20 accordingly.
[0068] Cutting components
[0069] The cutting member 400 is used to cut the ends of a front sheet and a rear sheet, the ends of which correspond to each other and match. That is, the cutting member 400 can rise or fall toward the arrangement member 100 and includes a cutting blade 410 that cuts the overlapping portion of the ends of the front and rear sheets when falling. Therefore, a stepped area between the ends of the front and rear sheets can be prevented, and the ends of the front sheet can be correspondingly matched with the ends of the rear sheet.
[0070] Furthermore, a cutting groove 123 is formed between a surface 121 on one side and a surface 122 on the other side, and the cutting blade 410 of the cutting member 400 is inserted into the cutting groove 123. Therefore, the cutting blade 410 of the cutting member 400 is inserted into the cutting groove after passing through the overlapping portion of the ends of the front sheet and the rear sheet, so that the ends of the front sheet and the rear sheet can be precisely cut.
[0071] Suction component
[0072] The suction member 500 is used to adhere and fix the front and rear sheets arranged on the arrangement component, or to suction and remove impurities remaining on the front and rear sheets. That is, the suction member 500 includes a first suction part 510 and a second suction part 520. The first suction part 510 uses suction force to adhere the front sheet 10 arranged on one side of the arrangement surface to the one side arrangement surface 121, and the second suction part 520 uses suction force to adhere the rear sheet 20 arranged on the other side of the arrangement surface to the other side arrangement surface 122.
[0073] Here, the first suction part 510 draws air through a plurality of suction holes formed in a side arrangement surface and adheres the first sheet 10 to the side arrangement surface 121, and the second suction part 520 draws air through a plurality of suction holes formed in a other side arrangement surface 122 and adheres the second sheet 20 to the other side arrangement surface 122.
[0074] Therefore, the suction component 500 can remove impurities remaining on the previous and next sheets and fix the sheets immovably relative to the arrangement components.
[0075] Adhesive components
[0076] The adhesive member 600 is used to align and inseparably connect the end of a front sheet disposed on one side of the arrangement surface with the end of a rear sheet disposed on the other side of the arrangement surface. That is, the adhesive member 600 includes an adhesive body 610 and an adhesive tape 620. The adhesive body 610 is disposed in a guide rod 221 located on the same horizontal line as the cutting groove. The adhesive tape 620 is disposed in the adhesive body 610 and attaches to and covers the end of the front sheet 10 and the end of the rear sheet 20, and the adhesive tape 620 aligns and inseparably connects the end of the front sheet 10 and the end of the rear sheet 20.
[0077] Therefore, the electrode connection device 1 according to the first embodiment of the present invention can align the end of the previous piece with the end of the next piece without creating a step area, thereby preventing defects from occurring during the grooving process.
[0078] The electrode connection method according to the first embodiment of the present invention will be described below.
[0079] [Electrode connection method according to the first embodiment of the present invention]
[0080] like Figures 7 to 12As shown, the electrode connection method according to the first embodiment of the present invention is a method for connecting the end of a front sheet to the end of a rear sheet. The electrode connection method includes: step (a), moving the guide rod 221 of the guide member 220 to a support position A, where a path line 130 of the arrangement member 100 is provided; step (b), arranging the ends of the front sheet and the rear sheet such that the two ends match the arrangement component 120 of the arrangement member 100; and step (c), connecting the end of the front sheet 10 to the end of the rear sheet 20 using the arrangement member 600. Here, when the end of the front sheet 10 does not match the end of the rear sheet 20, the method further includes step (b1), positioning the ends of the front sheet 10 and the rear sheet 20 such that the two ends overlap each other, and then cutting the two ends using the cutting member 400 to match the two ends.
[0081] In step (a), the guide member 220 is moved forward by using the drive member 210 disposed in the fixing member 110 of the arrangement member 100, and the guide rod 221 of the guide member 220 is positioned to the path line 130 of the arrangement member 100. Here, the support surface 221a of the guide rod 221 is positioned to match the path line 130.
[0082] In step (b), the ends of the front sheet 10 and the rear sheet 20 are arranged to correspond to each other on the arrangement member 120 of the arrangement member 100. Here, the sides of the front sheet 10 and the rear sheet 20 are supported on the support surface 221a of the guide rod 221. Therefore, the ends of the front sheet 10 and the rear sheet 20 are arranged to correspond to each other.
[0083] As an example, the end of the first sheet 10 is located on one side of the arrangement surface 121 of the arrangement member 120, and the end of the second sheet 20 is located on the other side of the arrangement surface 122 of the arrangement member 120.
[0084] Furthermore, step (b) may also include a detection step, in which the sides of the front sheet 10 and the rear sheet 20 are detected by the detection member 300, and the sides of the front sheet 10 and the rear sheet 20 are supported on the guide rod 221. That is, in the detection step, the first detection sensor 310 of the detection member 300 detects the side of the front sheet 10 supported on the guide rod 221, and the second detection sensor 320 of the detection member 300 detects the side of the rear sheet 20 supported on the guide rod 221. Therefore, it is easy to confirm whether the sides of the front sheet 10 and the rear sheet 20 are supported on the guide rod 221.
[0085] Furthermore, step (b) may also include an adhesion step, in which the ends of the front sheet 10 and the rear sheet 20 disposed on the arrangement member 120 are adhered and fixed to the arrangement member 120 by means of the suction member 500, or impurities remaining on the front sheet 10 and the rear sheet 20 are removed. That is, in the adhesion step, the front sheet 10 is adhered to one side arrangement surface 121 by the suction force generated by the first suction part 510 of the suction member 500, and the rear sheet 20 is adhered to the other side arrangement surface 122 by the suction force generated by the second suction part 520 of the suction member 500.
[0086] Furthermore, when the end face 12 of the front sheet 10 and the end face 22 of the rear sheet 20 arranged in the arrangement component 120 do not match, step (b) may also include the following step: arranging the end face 12 of the front sheet 10 and the end face 22 of the rear sheet 20 such that their mismatched portions overlap each other.
[0087] In addition, the method also includes a step (b1) of cutting the overlapping portion of the ends of the front sheet 10 and the rear sheet 20 and matching the ends of the front sheet 10 with the ends of the rear sheet 20.
[0088] Process (b1) is performed between process (b) and process (c). That is, in process (b1), the center of the overlapping portion of the end of the front sheet 10 and the end of the rear sheet 20 is cut by the cutting member 400, so that the end of the front sheet 10 and the end of the rear sheet 20 are matched to correspond to each other.
[0089] In step (c), the ends of the front sheet 10 and the rear sheet 20 arranged on the arrangement member 120 of the arrangement member 100 are connected to each other while being aligned by the adhesive member 600. That is, in step (c), the end of the front sheet 10 is attached to the end of the rear sheet 20 by using the adhesive tape 620 of the adhesive member 600 provided in the guide member 220.
[0090] Furthermore, when process (c) is completed, the first detection sensor 310 and the second detection sensor 320 respectively re-detect the side of the previous sheet 10 and the side of the subsequent sheet 20. Here, when both the side of the previous sheet 10 and the side of the subsequent sheet 20 are detected, the guide rod moves backward to the retracted position, and then the sheet conveying operation restarts. Here, when at least one of the side of the previous sheet 10 or the side of the subsequent sheet 20 is not detected, a fault signal is generated, and the operator connects the end of the previous sheet 10 to the end of the subsequent sheet 20 again, as in the manufacturing method described above.
[0091] In the following description of another embodiment of the invention, components having the same function as those in the foregoing embodiments are given the same reference numerals, and repeated descriptions of them will be omitted.
[0092] [Secondary battery grooving machine according to a second embodiment of the present invention]
[0093] The secondary battery grooving machine according to the second embodiment of the present invention may include the electrode connection device 1 according to the first embodiment described above. Therefore, multiple sheets continuously input into the grooving machine can be connected without generating a stepped area.
[0094] That is, such as Figure 13 As shown, a secondary battery grooving machine according to a second embodiment of the present invention includes: a supply roller 30 for supplying a roll of sheet material; a grooving device 40 for grooving an uncoated portion 11 of the sheet material 10 supplied by the supply roller 30 to form an electrode tab 11a; and a collection roller 50 for collecting the sheet material 10 on which the electrode tab 11a is formed.
