Printed circuit board assembly defect detection

Abstract

A method includes obtaining a plurality of two-dimensional grayscale images of a portion of a printed circuit board assembly. Each two-dimensional grayscale image corresponds to one of a plurality of parallel planes intersecting the portion of the printed circuit board assembly at a respective different location. The method also includes converting the plurality of two-dimensional grayscale images to a color image. Each of the plurality of two-dimensional grayscale images corresponds to a respective color channel of the color image and is used as input for the respective color channel of the color image. The method also includes analyzing the color image to detect a color change indicative of a defect; and outputting an alert indicating the defect in response to detecting the color change.
