The optically transmissive enclosure is transparent.
[0003] WO2020152068A1 discloses a color-tunable filament lamp, which includes a white LED filament suitable for emitting white light and an RGB LED filament. The RGB LED filament includes multiple groups, each group including a red LED, a green LED, and a blue LED.
[0004] US2020 / 303356A1 discloses a lamp with an LED filament. The LED filament has a light-transmitting substrate, a first LED chip array on the front side of the substrate, a second LED chip array on the front side of the substrate, a first photoluminescent arrangement covering the first LED chip array, and a second photoluminescent arrangement covering the second LED chip array. The first LED chip array and the first arrangement generate light of a first color temperature, and the second LED chip array and the second arrangement generate light of a second color temperature. Summary of the Invention
[0005] Incandescent bulbs are being rapidly replaced by LED-based lighting solutions. However, users may appreciate and desire retrofitted lights that retain the appearance of incandescent bulbs. This can be achieved by utilizing the basic structure of glass-based incandescent bulbs and replacing the filament with LEDs that emit white light. One concept is based on LED filaments placed within such bulbs. The appearance of these lights is highly appreciated because they look very decorative.
[0006] Current LED filament lamps do not offer color control. To produce color-controllable LED filament lamps, RGB LEDs can be used on substrates (e.g., translucent or transparent). However, this configuration may not provide an aesthetically pleasing appearance.
[0007] Therefore, an aspect of the present invention is to provide an alternative light generating device that preferably further eliminates at least partially one or more of the aforementioned disadvantages. The present invention may have the objective of overcoming or improving at least one of the drawbacks of the prior art, or to provide a useful alternative.
[0008] In this embodiment, the invention provides an LED filament comprising R, G, and B LEDs, wherein the number of R LEDs can be greater than the number of B LEDs and / or the number of G LEDs, such as at least twice in this embodiment. However, other embodiments are also provided herein.
[0009] In a first aspect, the present invention provides an LED filament device configured to generate filament device light. The LED filament device includes an LED filament. Specifically, the LED filament includes a plurality of light generating devices. Even more specifically, each light generating device may include a solid-state light source. In particular, in embodiments, the plurality of light generating devices may include n1 first light generating devices configured to generate red first device light and n2 second light generating devices configured to generate blue second device light. Furthermore, in embodiments, at least a portion of the total n2 second light generating devices of the second set may be configured to be adjacent to the first light generating devices of the first set. Furthermore, in embodiments, the total number n1 of the first light generating devices may be greater than the total number n2 of the second light generating devices. Specifically, in embodiments of a first operating mode, the LED filament device is configured to generate filament device light having a maximum correlated color temperature of 2500 K. Furthermore, in the embodiments (in the first operating mode), the filament device light may include red first device light from a first set of n1 first light generating devices and blue second device light from a second set of n2 second light generating devices (as well as optional luminescent material light (see also below)). Therefore, in a specific embodiment, the present invention provides an LED filament device configured to generate filament device light, wherein the LED filament device includes an LED filament, wherein the LED filament includes a plurality of light generating devices, each light generating device including a solid-state light source, wherein the plurality of light generating devices includes n1 first light generating devices configured to generate red first device light and n2 second light generating devices configured to generate blue second device light, wherein at least a portion of the total number of n2 second light generating devices in the second set is configured to be adjacent to the first light generating devices in the first set, wherein the total number of first light generating devices n1 is greater than the total number of second light generating devices n2, wherein in a first operating mode, the LED filament device is configured to generate filament device light having a maximum correlated color temperature of 2500 K, wherein (in the first operating mode) the filament device light includes red first device light from the n1 first light generating devices in the first set and blue second device light from the n2 second light generating devices in the second set.
[0010] In a second aspect, the present invention provides an LED filament device configured to generate filament device light, wherein the LED filament device includes an LED filament. Specifically, the LED filament includes a plurality of light generating devices, each light generating device including a solid-state light source. Furthermore, in a further embodiment, the plurality of light generating devices includes n1 first light generating devices configured to generate red first device light, n2 second light generating devices configured to generate blue second device light, and n3 third light generating devices configured to generate green third device light. In a specific embodiment, at least a portion of the total n2 second light generating devices of the second set may be configured adjacent to the first light generating devices of the first set. Furthermore, in a specific embodiment, at least a portion of the total n3 third light generating devices of the third set may be configured adjacent to the first light generating devices of the first set. Moreover, particularly in embodiments, the total number n1 of the first light generating devices may be greater than the total number n2 of the second light generating devices. Furthermore, particularly in embodiments, the total number n1 of the first light generating devices may be greater than the total number n3 of the third light generating devices. Furthermore, in embodiments of the first operating mode, the LED filament devices can be configured to generate filament device light with a maximum correlated color temperature of 2500 K. Specifically, in embodiments of the first operating mode, the filament device light may include red first device light from a first set of n1 first light generating devices, blue second device light from a second set of n2 second light generating devices, and green third device light from a third set of n3 third light generating devices. Therefore, in a specific embodiment, the present invention provides an LED filament device configured to generate filament device light, wherein the LED filament device includes an LED filament, wherein the LED filament includes a plurality of light generating devices, each light generating device including a solid-state light source, wherein the plurality of light generating devices includes n1 first light generating devices configured to generate red first device light, n2 second light generating devices configured to generate blue second device light, and n3 third light generating devices configured to generate green third device light, wherein at least a portion of the total number of n2 second light generating devices in the second set is configured to be adjacent to the first light generating devices in the first set, wherein at least a portion of the total number of n3 third light generating devices in the third set is configured to be adjacent to the first light generating devices in the first set, wherein the total number of first light generating devices n1 is greater than the total number of second light generating devices n2, wherein the total number of first light generating devices n1 is greater than the total number of third light generating devices n3, wherein in a first operating mode, the LED filament device is configured to generate light with a maximum of 2500 K-correlated color temperature filament device light, wherein (in the first operating mode) the filament device light includes red first device light from n1 first light generating devices in the first set, blue second device light from n2 second light generating devices in the second set, and green third device light from n3 light generating devices in the third set.
[0011] The present invention can provide white light, which in embodiments may have a relatively low correlated color temperature (CCT). Furthermore, the present invention can provide colored light. However, the color point of the light can be controllable. However, the present invention allows control over the color point while also reducing the pixelated appearance. Therefore, in embodiments, a linear lighting device can be provided that can provide light that is relatively uniform (and may have a relatively low or no speckled appearance)
[0012] As described above, the LED filament device is specifically configured to generate filament device light (during operation of the LED filament device). Filament device light is the light emitted from the LED filament device during operation.
[0013] LED filament devices may include one or more LED filaments (“filaments”). The invention will generally be further described in relation to a single filament. However, it will be apparent that more than one filament may be present. Therefore, LED filament devices may include multiple LED filaments in specific embodiments. When more than one filament is present, these filaments may provide light with different optical properties or light having substantially the same optical properties during operating modes (in embodiments).
[0014] When there is more than one LED filament, the LED filaments do not necessarily have to be the same. For example, there can be two or more LED filaments with different numbers of solid-state light sources. Alternatively or additionally, there can be two or more LED filaments with different shapes. Alternatively or additionally, there can be two or more LED filaments configured to generate filament light with different spectral power distributions. Alternatively or additionally, there can be two or more LED filaments with different rotatability of spectral power distributions.
[0015] Furthermore, there can be multiple sets of LED filaments, one set comprising two or more LED filaments that can be substantially identical, such as in the number of solid-state light sources and the filament spectral power distribution. LED filaments within one set are indeed (and therefore) substantially not different from each other (in terms of the spectral power distribution of filament light), while LED filaments from different sets can be different from each other (especially in terms of the filament spectral power distribution).
[0016] As described above, in the embodiments, the LED filament device includes an LED filament, wherein the LED filament includes a plurality of light generating devices, each light generating device including a solid-state light source (“light source”).
[0017] The term "light source" can, in principle, refer to any light source known in the art. In specific embodiments, the light source includes solid-state LED light sources (such as LEDs or laser diodes (or "diode lasers")). The term "light source" can also refer to multiple light sources, such as 2-200 (solid-state) LED light sources. Therefore, the term LED can also refer to multiple LEDs. Furthermore, the term "light source" in embodiments can also refer to so-called chip-on-board (COB) light sources. The term "COB" specifically refers to LED chips in the form of semiconductor chips that are neither encased nor connected, but are directly mounted on a substrate (such as a PCB). Therefore, multiple light semiconductor light sources can be configured on the same substrate. In embodiments, a COB is a multi-LED chip configured together as a single lighting module.
[0018] A light source has a light-escape surface. Referring to conventional light sources such as light bulbs or fluorescent lamps, this can be the outer surface of a glass or quartz envelope. For an LED chip, it can be, for example, the LED die, or, when resin is applied to the LED die, the outer surface of the resin. In principle, it can also be the termination of an optical fiber. The term "escape surface" specifically refers to the part of the light source where light actually leaves the source or escapes from it. The light source is configured to provide a light beam. This light beam (and therefore) escapes from the light-escape surface of the light source.
[0019] The term "light source" can refer to semiconductor light-emitting devices, such as light-emitting diodes (LEDs), resonant cavity light-emitting diodes (RCLEDs), vertical cavity laser diodes (VCSELs), edge-emitting lasers, etc. The term "light source" can also refer to organic light-emitting diodes, such as passive matrix (PMOLED) or active matrix (AMOLED). In specific embodiments, the light source includes solid-state LED light sources (such as LEDs or laser diodes). In embodiments, the light source includes LEDs (light-emitting diodes). The term "light source" or "solid-state light source" can also refer to superluminescent diodes (SLEDs).
[0020] The term LED can also refer to multiple LEDs. Furthermore, the term "light source" in embodiments can also refer to a so-called chip-on-board (COB) light source. The term "COB" specifically refers to LED chips in the form of semiconductor chips that are neither embedded nor connected, but are directly mounted on a substrate (such as a PCB). Therefore, multiple semiconductor light sources can be configured on the same substrate. In embodiments, a COB is a multi-LED chip configured together as a single lighting module.
[0021] The term "light source" can also refer to multiple substantially identical (or different) light sources, such as 2-2000 solid-state light sources. In embodiments, a light source may include one or more micro-optical elements (microlens arrays) downstream of a single solid-state light source (such as an LED) or downstream of multiple solid-state light sources (i.e., shared by multiple LEDs). In embodiments, a light source may include an LED with on-chip optics. In embodiments, a light source includes pixelated individual LEDs (with or without optics) (providing on-chip beam control in embodiments).
[0022] The terms “upstream” and “downstream” refer to the arrangement of items or features relative to the propagation of light from a light generating device (in this context, particularly a light source), wherein a second position in the beam near the light generating device is “upstream” relative to a first position within the beam from the light generating device, and a third position in the beam away from the light generating device is “downstream”.
[0023] In embodiments, the light source can be configured to provide primary radiation, which is used in such a way as a blue light source (such as a blue LED), or a green light source (such as a green LED) and a red light source (such as a red LED). Such LEDs (which may not include a luminescent material (“phosphor”)) can be referred to as direct-color LEDs.
[0024] However, in other embodiments, the light source can be configured to provide primary radiation and at least a portion of the primary radiation is converted into secondary radiation. The secondary radiation can be based on the conversion of the luminescent material. Therefore, secondary radiation can also be represented as luminescent material radiation. In embodiments, the luminescent material can be included by the light source, such as an LED having a layer of luminescent material or a dome including luminescent material. Such LEDs can be represented as phosphor-converted LEDs or PC LEDs. In other embodiments, the luminescent material can be disposed at a distance (“remote”) from the light source, such as an LED having a layer of luminescent material that is not in physical contact with the die of the LED. Therefore, in a specific embodiment, the light source can be a source that emits light with wavelengths selected from the 380-470 nm range during operation. However, other wavelengths are also possible. This light can be partially utilized by the luminescent material.
[0025] In one embodiment, the light source may be selected from the group consisting of laser diodes and superluminescent LEDs. In other embodiments, the light source includes LEDs.
[0026] The term "laser source" specifically refers to a laser. Such a laser can be specifically configured to generate laser source light having one or more wavelengths in the UV, visible, or infrared range, particularly wavelengths selected from the spectral wavelength range of 200-2000 nm, such as 300-1500 nm. The term "laser" specifically refers to a device that emits light through an optical amplification process based on stimulated emission of electromagnetic radiation.
[0027] Specifically, in the embodiments, the term "laser" may refer to a solid-state laser. In specific embodiments, the term "laser" or "laser source" or similar terms refer to a laser diode (or diode laser).
[0028] Therefore, in the embodiments, the light source includes a laser light source. In the embodiments, the term "laser" or "solid-state laser" may refer to one or more of the following: chromium-doped strontium aluminate fluorocarbon (or calcium) lithium (Ce:LiSAF, Ce:LiCAF), chromium-doped chrysoberyl (alexandrite) laser, chromium ZnSe (Cr:ZnSe) laser, divalent samarium-doped calcium fluoride (Sm:CaF2) laser, Er:YAG laser, erbium-doped glass laser, and erbium-ytterbium co-doped glass laser. Optical lasers, F-center lasers, holmium YAG (Ho:YAG) lasers, Nd:YAG lasers, NdCrYAG lasers, neodymium-doped calcium oxygadolinium yttrium Nd:YCa4O(BO3)3 or Nd:YCOB, neodymium-doped yttrium vanadate (Nd:YVO4) lasers, neodymium glass (Nd:glass) lasers, neodymium YLF (Nd:YLF) solid-state lasers, promethium-147 doped phosphate glass (147Pm) 3+ Solid-state lasers (Al2O3:Cr) and ruby lasers (Al2O3:Cr)3+ ), Thulium YAG (Tm:YAG) laser, Titanium Sapphire (Ti:sapphire; Al2O3:Ti) laser, 3+ Lasers include trivalent uranium-doped calcium fluoride (U:CaF2) solid-state lasers, ytterbium-doped glass lasers (rods, plates / chips and fibers), ytterbium YAG (Yb:YAG) lasers, and Yb2O3 (glass or ceramic) lasers.
[0029] In the embodiments, the term "laser" or "solid-state laser" may refer to one or more semiconductor laser diodes, such as GaN, InGaN, AlGaInP, AlGaAs, InGaAsP, lead salt, vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL), quantum cascade laser, hybrid silicon laser, etc.
[0030] Lasers can be combined with up-converters to achieve shorter wavelengths. For example, upconversion can be achieved using some trivalent rare-earth ions, or using nonlinear crystals. Alternatively, lasers can be combined with down-converters (such as dye lasers) to achieve longer wavelengths.
[0031] As can be deduced below, the term "laser source" can also refer to multiple (different or identical) laser sources. In a specific embodiment, the term "laser source" can refer to multiple N (identical) laser sources. In an embodiment, N=2 or greater. In a specific embodiment, N can be at least 5, such as particularly at least 8. This allows for higher brightness. In an embodiment, the laser sources can be arranged in a laser array (see also above). In an embodiment, the laser array can include heat dissipation and / or optics, such as lenses for collimating the laser.
[0032] The laser source is configured to generate laser light (or "laser"). The light source can consist essentially of laser light. It can also include laser light from two or more (different or identical) laser sources. For example, laser light from two or more (different or identical) laser sources can be coupled into a light guide to provide a single beam of light comprising laser light from two or more (different or identical) laser sources. In a particular embodiment, the light source is therefore specifically collimated light. In yet another embodiment, the light source is specifically (collimated) laser light.
[0033] The phrases “different light sources” or “multiple different light sources” and similar phrases in the embodiments may refer to multiple solid-state light sources selected from at least two different enclosures. Similarly, the phrases “identical light sources” or “multiple identical light sources” and similar phrases in the embodiments refer to multiple solid-state light sources selected from the same enclosure.
[0034] The filament may include a support and a solid-state light source supported by the support. In particular, the filament may include a (transparent) encapsulant that may at least partially encapsulate one or more solid-state light sources, especially at least encapsulating one or more light-emitting surfaces of the solid-state light sources, such as one or more dies.
[0035] In an embodiment, the LED filament may include a support, an assembly of solid-state light sources (“light sources”), and an encapsulation. The LED filament may have a long axis of a first length (L1). Specifically, the solid-state light source is arranged along the first length (L1) of the LED filament on the support. Furthermore, the solid-state light source is configured to generate light (during operation of the light generating device). Specifically, in an embodiment, the encapsulation encapsulates at least a portion of each solid-state light source in the assembly of solid-state light sources. Typically, the filament may have an aspect ratio of at least 10 and a height ratio, such as those selected from the range of 10-10,000. The aspect ratios of different filaments may differ in specific embodiments, although in embodiments the aspect ratios may be substantially the same. Note that for a filament, the aspect ratio and the height ratio may differ.
[0036] In some embodiments, the support may include one or more of (metal) leads and resin (material). In some specific embodiments, the support may include a flexible PCB. In some specific embodiments, the support may include a polymer support, such as a polyimide support. In some specific embodiments, the support may include a light-transmitting polymer support. The support may be flexible. In some embodiments, the support may include a foil.
[0037] Furthermore, in embodiments, the encapsulation may include a light-emitting material configured to convert at least a portion of the light from the light source into light from the light-emitting material. Alternatively or additionally, one or more of the one or more solid-state light sources may include a light-emitting material, and in embodiments the encapsulation may be transparent or translucent.
[0038] Alternatively or additionally, the solid-state light source can be configured to generate solid-state light without the conversion material included in the solid-state light source; that is, the light from the solid-state light source can have a spectral power distribution substantially the same as that emanating from the bare die. Furthermore, in such embodiments, the (optional) encapsulation may be transparent or translucent.
[0039] Specifically, the filament can be configured to generate filament light (during the corresponding filament's operating mode). Filament light can include one or more of luminescent material light and solid-state light (from a solid-state light source without luminescent material). Luminescent material light can originate from a PC solid-state light source, i.e., a phosphor converter solid-state light source, or from luminescent material within the package. A solid-state light source without luminescent material may also be referred to herein as a non-PC solid-state light source or a direct-color LED.
[0040] As described above, a light generating device may include an LED filament, wherein the LED filament includes a support, an assembly of solid-state light sources, and a package.
[0041] The number of (solid-state) light sources in an LED filament can be at least 8, such as at least 12, or even more particularly at least 24, and can be, for example, up to 100, or even more. In particular, in embodiments, the number of (solid-state) light sources in the set can be selected from the range of 10-1000 (such as 10-200).
[0042] Therefore, in the embodiments, one or more light generating devices may each include a solid-state light source. Alternatively or additionally, in the embodiments, one or more light generating devices may each include a solid-state light source having a light-emitting material, i.e., a PC LED in the embodiments.
[0043] In one embodiment, the LED filament device may be based on one or more of a blue light generating device, a red light generating device, and a light-emitting material that converts at least a portion of the blue light generated by the blue light generating device into green and yellow light. In an alternative embodiment, the LED filament device may be based on a blue light generating device, a red light generating device, and a green light generating device. Combinations may also be used in embodiments.
[0044] The term "luminescent material" specifically refers to a material capable of converting one or more of a first type of radiation, particularly UV radiation and blue radiation, into a second type of radiation. Typically, the first and second radiations have different spectral power distributions. Therefore, the terms "luminescent converter" or "converter" can also be used instead of "luminescent material." Generally, the second radiation has a spectral power distribution at a wavelength longer than the first radiation; this is known as downconversion. However, in specific embodiments, the second radiation has a spectral power distribution at a wavelength shorter than the first radiation; this is known as upconversion.
[0045] In embodiments, "luminescent material" can specifically refer to a material capable of converting radiation into, for example, visible light and / or infrared light. For example, in embodiments, the luminescent material may be capable of converting one or more of UV radiation and blue light radiation into visible light. In specific embodiments, the luminescent material may also convert radiation into infrared radiation (IR). Therefore, when excited by radiation, the luminescent material emits radiation. Typically, the luminescent material will be a down-converter, i.e., converting radiation of a smaller wavelength into radiation with a larger wavelength (λ). ex <λ em Although in specific embodiments, the luminescent material may include an upconverter luminescent material, i.e., longer radiation is converted into radiation with a shorter wavelength (λ). ex >λ em ).
[0046] In embodiments, the term "luminescence" may refer to phosphorescence. In embodiments, the term "luminescence" may also refer to fluorescence. The term "emission" may also be used instead of "luminescence." Therefore, the terms "first radiation" and "second radiation" may refer to excitation radiation and emission (radiation), respectively. Similarly, the term "luminescent material" in embodiments may refer to phosphorescence and / or fluorescence. The term "luminescent material" may also refer to a variety of different luminescent materials.
[0047] In a specific embodiment, the luminescent material may include A3B5O. 12 Ce-type luminescent materials. Wherein A includes one or more of Y, La, Gd, Tb, and Lu, and wherein B includes one or more of Al, Ga, In, and Sc.
[0048] Therefore, in an embodiment, the plurality of light generating devices may include n1 first light generating devices configured to generate a first set of red first device light and n2 second light generating devices configured to generate a second set of blue second device light.
[0049] Specifically, in embodiments n1≥4, even more specifically n1≥8, and even more specifically n1≥12, such as n1≥20, but more are also possible. Specifically, in embodiments n2≥2, even more specifically n2≥4, and even more specifically n2≥6, such as n2≥10, but more are also possible. Specifically, in embodiments, the total number n1 of the first light generating devices is greater than the total number n2 of the second light generating devices.
[0050] Specifically, at least a portion of the total number n2 of the second light generating devices in the second set can be configured to be adjacent to the first light generating devices in the first set. For example, at least 25%, or even more particularly at least 50%, such as in the embodiment where at least 75% of the total number n2 of the second light generating devices in the second set is configured to be adjacent to the first light generating devices in the first set. Therefore, in the embodiment, the spacing between the first light generating devices can be smaller than the spacing between the second light generating devices.
[0051] One or more of the third light-generating device and the light-emitting material (light), as well as the first light-generating device and the second light-generating device, can be used in the operating mode to generate white (LED filament) light. In particular, this light can have a relatively low correlated color temperature, such as at a maximum of 2500 K, or at a maximum of 2400 K (see also below).
[0052] Specifically, in an embodiment of the first operating mode, the LED filament device can be configured to generate filament device light having a correlated color temperature selected from the range of 1900-2400 K.
[0053] Therefore, in an embodiment of the first operating mode, the LED filament device can be configured to generate filament device light with a maximum correlated color temperature of 2500K. Wherein (in the first operating mode), the filament device light includes red first device light from a first set of n1 first light generating devices and blue second device light from a second set of n2 second light generating devices.
[0054] Furthermore, the filament device light may include light from the luminescent material. In a specific embodiment, the filament device light is essentially composed of red first device light from n1 first light generating devices in a first set, blue second device light from n2 second light generating devices in a second set, and light from the luminescent material.
[0055] In a further embodiment, as described below, the device light may also include red first device light from n1 first light generating devices in a first set, blue second device light from n2 second light generating devices in a second set, and green third device light from n3 third light generating devices in a third set. In a specific embodiment, the device light may substantially consist of red first device light from n1 first light generating devices in the first set, blue second device light from n2 second light generating devices in the second set, and green third device light from n3 third light generating devices in the third set.
[0056] In a further embodiment, the device light may also include red first device light from n1 first light generating devices in a first set, blue second device light from n2 second light generating devices in a second set, and one or more of the following: (i) green third device light from n3 third light generating devices in a third set and (ii) light emitting material light.
[0057] Regarding the third light generating device, in an embodiment, the plurality of light generating devices may therefore include n1 first light generating devices configured to generate red first device light (a first set), n2 second light generating devices configured to generate blue second device light (a second set), and n3 third light generating devices configured to generate green third device light (a third set). Furthermore, in a specific embodiment, the total number of first light generating devices n1 may be greater than the total number of third light generating devices n3.
[0058] Specifically, in embodiments, at least a portion of the total n³ third light generating devices in the third set can be configured to be adjacent to the first light generating devices in the first set. For example, at least 25%, or even more particularly at least 50%, such as in embodiments where at least 75% of the total n³ third light generating devices in the third set are configured to be adjacent to the first light generating devices in the first set. Therefore, in embodiments, the spacing between the first light generating devices can be smaller than the spacing between the third light generating devices.
[0059] As described above, in a specific embodiment, in a first operating mode, the LED filament device is configured to generate filament device light with a maximum correlated color temperature of 2500 K. Wherein (in the first operating mode), the filament device light includes red first device light from n1 first light generating devices in a first set, blue second device light from n2 second light generating devices in a second set, and green third device light from n3 third light generating devices in a third set.
[0060] As described above, in a specific embodiment, the total number n1 of the first light generating devices can be greater than the total number n2 of the second light generating devices. (The last part, "less than approximately 2," appears to be a separate, unrelated statement and is left untranslated.) The value of n1 for n2 may cause some pixelation effects. Specifically, when n2 < 1.5 When n = 2, pixelation may occur. Therefore, in particular, n1 ≥ 1.5 n2, and even more specifically n1≥2 n2. Greater than 4 The value of n2 may become less efficient because the first light-generating device may occupy too much space. Specifically, in embodiment 2... n2≤n1≤4 n2. In a specific embodiment, 2n2 ≤ n1 ≤ 3n2. In other specific embodiments, 3n2 ≤ n1 ≤ 4n2. A higher n1 can provide a better (uniform) appearance, while an excessively high n1 may lead to an inefficient solution.
[0061] As described above, in a specific embodiment, the total number n1 of the first light generating devices can be greater than the total number n3 of the third light generating devices. (The last part, "less than approximately 2," appears to be a separate, unrelated statement and is left untranslated.) The value of n1 for n3 may cause some pixelation effects. Specifically, when n3 < 1.5 When n=3, pixelation may occur. Therefore, in particular, n=1.5 n3, and even more specifically n1≥2 n3. Greater than 4 The value of n3 may become less efficient because the first light-generating device may occupy too much space. Specifically, in embodiment 2... n3≤n1≤4 n3. In a specific embodiment, 2n3 ≤ n1 ≤ 3n3. In other specific embodiments, 3n3 ≤ n1 ≤ 4n3. As mentioned above, a higher n1 can provide a better (uniform) appearance, while an excessively high n1 may lead to an inefficient solution.
[0062] Therefore, in the embodiments, one or more of the following apply: (i) 2 n2≤n1≤4 n2 and (ii) 2 n3≤n1≤4 n3. Furthermore, in specific embodiments, n1 / (n2+n3)≥1, such as n1 / (n2+n3)>1, and even more specifically n1 / (n2+n3)≥2 applies.
[0063] Specifically, in the embodiments, each of the first light generating devices in the first set (of n1 first light generating devices) has the shortest first mutual distance (d1), and each of the second light generating devices in the second set (of n2 second light generating devices) has the shortest second mutual distance (d2), where d2 > d1. For example, in the embodiments, d2 ≥ 1.2 d1, such as d2≥1.5 in a specific embodiment. d1, for example, d2≥2 d1. In a specific embodiment, d1 may be less than the width of three LEDs. Alternatively or additionally, in an embodiment, d2 may be greater than the width of two LEDs, such as being equal to or greater than the width of three LEDs in an embodiment.
[0064] Alternatively or additionally, in an embodiment, each of the first light generating devices in the first set (of n1 first light generating devices) has the shortest first mutual distance (d1), and each of the third light generating devices in the third set (of n3 third light generating devices) has the shortest third mutual distance (d3), where d3 > d1. For example, in an embodiment, d3 ≥ 1.2 d1, such as d3≥1.5 in a specific embodiment. d1, for example, d3≥2 d1. In a specific embodiment, d1 may be less than the width of three LEDs. Alternatively or additionally, in an embodiment, d3 may be greater than the width of two LEDs, such as being equal to or greater than the width of three LEDs in an embodiment.
[0065] Below, some specific further embodiments are described.
[0066] In an embodiment, each of the first light generating devices in a first set of (n1) first light generating devices can be configured to generate first device light having a CIE x value of at least 0.48 (e.g., at least 0.5) and a CIE y value of at most 0.45. Furthermore, in particular, the CIE y value can be at least 0.15, such as at least 0.2. The CIE x value can be less than about 0.75, such as equal to or less than about 0.73. In this document, CIE values refer to the CIE 1931 color space known in the art.
[0067] One or more light-generating devices in a light-generating device may be embedded in a light-transmitting material. As described above, an LED filament may include a (light-transmitting) encapsulation that may at least partially encapsulate one or more solid-state light sources, particularly at least encapsulating one or more light-emitting surfaces of the solid-state light sources, such as one or more dies. The encapsulation may include a light-transmitting material. In particular, in embodiments, the light-transmitting material may include a polymeric material, such as a resin. However, alternative embodiments are also possible. In a specific embodiment, the light-transmitting material may include a light-emitting material (see also above). Alternatively or additionally, in a specific embodiment, the light-transmitting material may include a light-scattering material. In a further specific embodiment, the light-transmitting material may include a light-transmitting host material, such as a polymeric material (such as a resin), and a light-emitting material. The light-emitting material may be embedded in the light-transmitting host material. In a further specific embodiment, the light-transmitting material may include a light-transmitting host material, such as a polymeric material (such as a resin), and a scattering material. The scattering material may be embedded in the light-transmitting material. The scattering material may include light-reflecting particles. The term "optical transmission material" may also be used instead of the term "light-transmitting material."
[0068] In one embodiment, all light-generating devices may be at least partially embedded in the light-transmitting material. In other embodiments, a subset of the light-generating devices may be at least partially embedded in the light-transmitting material. In particular, the term "partially embedded" may mean that light emanating from the light-generating device may escape substantially only through the light-transmitting material.
[0069] In embodiments where the light-transmitting material includes a scattering material but no luminescent material, all light-generating devices may be partially embedded in the light-transmitting material. When the light-transmitting material includes a luminescent material, light-generating devices whose light is at least partially converted by the luminescent material may be partially embedded. However, other light-generating devices may also be partially embedded in the light-transmitting material when it is substantially transparent to light from such other light-generating devices.
[0070] In embodiments, one or more, particularly all, of the first light generating devices in a first set of first light generating devices may be embedded in a light-transmitting material. Alternatively or additionally, one or more, particularly all, of the second light generating devices in a second set of first light generating devices may be embedded in a light-transmitting material. Alternatively or additionally, one or more, particularly all, of the third light generating devices in a third set of first light generating devices may be embedded in a light-transmitting material.
[0071] As described above, in the embodiments, the second light generating device can also be used to generate light from the luminescent material. Therefore, in a specific embodiment, one or more of the second light generating devices in the second set can be embedded in a light-transmitting material.
[0072] Therefore, in a further specific embodiment, the light-transmitting material includes a light-emitting material configured to convert at least a portion of the second device light into light-emitting material light, and the filament device light may include red first device light of a first set of n1 first light-generating devices, blue second device light of a second set of n2 second light-generating devices, and light-emitting material light.
[0073] In an alternative embodiment, as described above, the light from the light generating device can include red first device light from n1 first light generating devices in a first set, blue second device light from n2 second light generating devices in a second set, and green third device light from n3 second light generating devices in a third set.
[0074] Specifically, the LED filament may comprise an (elongated) array of light-generating devices. This may be a 1D array or a 2D array. In particular, the term "array" is used in this embodiment relative to a filament having light-generating devices on one side.
[0075] The filament may also have light generating devices on both sides. In such embodiments, two arrays may be present. For each array, the relationships of many embodiments described herein apply. When referring to filament light, it means all light generated by the LED filament. Thus, when there is one array on one side, filament light can refer to the light generated by that one array (in either direction and / or indirectly via an optional light-emitting material). However, when there are two arrays on both sides, filament light can refer to the light generated by both arrays together (in either direction and / or indirectly via an optional light-emitting material). In particular, the invention may in embodiments relate to LED filaments having light generating devices on one side of the filament. As described above, in specific embodiments, a light-transmitting support may be applied.
[0076] Therefore, in a specific embodiment, the light generating device can be configured to include a single row of elongated arrays. Thus, in such embodiments, the array is a 1D array.
[0077] In other embodiments, which will also be discussed further below, the light generating device is configured as an array comprising k rows, where k is selected from 2 to 6, such as the range of 2 to 4. In particular, in the embodiment k=2. If a single array is applied, then k=1.
[0078] As described above, the RGB principle can be applied in the embodiments. Therefore, in a specific embodiment, the plurality of light generating devices includes a third set of n3 third light generating devices configured to generate green third device light, wherein the total number of first light generating devices n1 is greater than the total number of third light generating devices n3, wherein in a first operating mode, the filament device light includes red first device light from the n1 first light generating devices in the first set, blue second device light from the n2 second light generating devices in the second set, and green third device light from the n3 third light generating devices in the third set.
[0079] Assuming a single array in this type of RGB embodiment, repeated configurations of the light generating devices are permissible. In a specific embodiment, the light generating devices are configured as (RRGB). n Or (RGRB) n The array, where R refers to the first light generating device, B refers to the second light generating device, and G refers to the third light generating device, where n refers to the number of repetitions, and n ≥ 2, or more specifically n ≥ 4. In a specific embodiment, n ≥ 5.
[0080] In a specific embodiment, the light generating device is configured as (RR-X1-X2-B). n Or (R-X1-RBR-X2) n Array or (R-X2-RBR-X1) nWhere R refers to the first light generating device, B refers to the second light generating device, and n refers to the number of repetitions, where n ≥ 2, or even more particularly n ≥ 4, such as at least 5. Reference numerals X1 and X2 refer to a third light generating device, which can be configured to provide third device light having a color dot selected from violet, cyan, green, yellow, orange, or optionally other colors. Specifically, at least one of X1 and X2 has a color dot selected from green and yellow. Furthermore, in some embodiments, only one of X1 and X2 is available. In other embodiments, both X1 and X2 are available. Other embodiments are also possible.
[0081] As described above, in a specific embodiment, the light generating device can be configured as an array comprising k rows. Specifically, k can be selected from 2 to 6, such as the range of 2 to 4. In particular, in an embodiment, k=2.
[0082] In such embodiments, there may be repeated configurations of the light generating devices. However, in such embodiments, repeated configurations may include portions of the k rows.
[0083] In a specific embodiment, the array portion of the array includes at least four first light generating devices, at least two second light generating devices, and at least two third light generating devices. Specifically, in an embodiment, the array portion may be configured such that at least one of (i) the first light generating devices in the array portion, (ii) the second light generating devices in the array portion, and (iii) the third light generating devices in the array portion is specifically configured in an array within the array portion.
[0084] In a specific embodiment, the first light generating device is specifically configured in one row of the array portion, and the second and third light generating devices are configured in the second row.
[0085] Therefore, in a specific embodiment with two rows, one row may include only a first light generating device for providing red light, and the other row in a further specific embodiment may include a second light generating device for providing blue light and a third light generating device for providing green light.
[0086] In a further specific embodiment, for two rows, one row may include only a first light-generating device for providing red light, and in a further specific embodiment, the other row may include only a second light-generating device for providing blue light. In particular, in such embodiments, a light-transmitting material having a luminescent material can be applied to convert at least a portion of the blue light. However, other embodiments are also possible.
[0087] The phrase "specifically configured in one row" can indicate that a particular type of light generating device is only available in that particular row. Even more specifically, it can indicate that that particular row includes only that particular type of light generating device.
[0088] In a further specific embodiment, the LED filament device may include q1 repeating array sections, wherein each array section includes 8 light-emitting devices, where n1=4, n2=2, n3=2, and wherein the first light-emitting devices in the array section are specifically arranged in one row, and wherein at least a portion of the total number of the second and third light-emitting devices in the array section are arranged in another row. Specifically, q1 is at least 2, such as at least 4. Even more specifically, q1 may be at least 5.
[0089] Therefore, in this embodiment, the LED filament device may include at least five array sections.
[0090] In yet another embodiment, the second light generating device may be specifically configured in a single row, but the spacing may be greater than the spacing of the light generating devices in the other rows(s). Alternatively or additionally, in embodiments where a third light generating device is available, the third light generating device may be specifically configured in a single row, but the spacing may be greater than the spacing of the light generating devices in the other rows(s).
[0091] Therefore, in one embodiment, the first light generating device in the array portion may be specifically configured in one array within the array portion. In another embodiment, the second light generating device in the array portion is specifically configured in one array within the array portion. In yet another embodiment, the third light generating device in the array portion is specifically configured in one array within the array portion.
[0092] In a specific embodiment, the light generating device can be configured in [(RG)-(RB)] n Array or [(R)-(RG)-(R)-(RB)] n In the array, R refers to the first light generating device, B refers to the second light generating device, G refers to the third light generating device, n refers to the number of repetitions, (RG) refers to the first and third light generating devices in different rows, and (RB) refers to the first and second light generating devices in different rows. Specifically, in the embodiments, n ≥ 2, such as n ≥ 4, and more specifically n ≥ 5. However, other color combinations are not excluded (see also above).
[0093] Since there are more than two light generating devices, a control system can be used to control them. Specifically, the control system can be applied to control the first light generating device, the second light generating device, and an optional third light generating device. If more light generating devices are available, these can also be controlled by the control system.
[0094] The control system may be functionally coupled to the LED filament device in an embodiment, or may be included within the LED filament device. In a specific embodiment, the LED filament device may further include a control system configured to control the color point of the light from the filament device. In a specific embodiment, the LED filament device may further include a control system configured to control the correlated color temperature of the light from the filament device. Specifically, in an embodiment, the control system may be configured to control one or more of the color point and correlated color temperature of the light from the filament device by individually controlling n1 first light generating devices of a first set, n2 second light generating devices of a second set, and (optionally) n3 second light generating devices of a third set.
[0095] The term "control" and similar terms specifically refer at least to determining the behavior of an element or supervising the operation of an element. Therefore, "control" and similar terms as used herein can, for example, refer to applying actions to an element (determining the behavior of the element or supervising the operation of the element), such as measuring, displaying, actuating, turning on, moving, changing temperature, etc. In addition, the term "control" and similar terms can also include monitoring. Therefore, the term "control" and similar terms can include applying actions to an element as well as applying actions to an element and monitoring the element. Control of an element can be accomplished using a control system, which can also be referred to as a "controller." Therefore, the control system and the element can be functionally coupled, at least temporarily or permanently. The element can include a control system. In embodiments, the control system and the element may not be physically coupled. Control can be accomplished via wired and / or wireless control. The term "control system" can also refer to multiple different control systems, which are particularly functionally coupled, and where, for example, one control system can be a master control system, while one or more other control systems can be slave control systems. The control system can include or can be functionally coupled to a user interface.
[0096] The control system can also be configured to receive and execute commands from a remote control. In one embodiment, the control system can be controlled via an app on the device, such as a portable device like a smartphone or iPhone / tablet. Therefore, the device does not necessarily need to be coupled to the lighting system, but can be (temporarily) functionally coupled to it.
[0097] Therefore, in embodiments, the control system can (and may also) be configured to be controlled by an application on a remote device. In such embodiments, the control system of the lighting system can be controlled from a control system or from a mode. For example, the lighting system can be coded, specifically a unique code for each individual lighting system. The control system of the lighting system can be configured to be controlled by an external control system that accesses the lighting system based on knowledge of the (unique) code (input from a user interface with optical sensors, such as a QR code reader). The lighting system may also include tools for communicating with other systems or devices, such as those based on Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LiFi, ZigBee, BLE, or WiMAX or other wireless technologies.
[0098] A system, apparatus, or device may perform actions in a “mode,” an “operating mode,” or a “working mode.” Similarly, in a method, actions, stages, or steps may be performed in a “mode,” an “operating mode,” a “working mode,” or a “functional mode.” The term “mode” may also mean “control mode.” This does not preclude the system, apparatus, or device from being adapted to provide another control mode, or multiple other control modes. Likewise, this may not preclude the possibility of performing one or more other modes before and / or after the execution of a particular mode.
[0099] However, in embodiments, the control system may be available and is adapted to provide at least one control mode. If other modes are available, the selection of such modes can be specifically performed via a user interface, although other options (such as performing modes based on sensor signals or (time) schemes) are also possible. In embodiments, operating mode may also refer to a system, apparatus, or device that can only operate in a single operating mode (i.e., "on," without further adjustability).
[0100] Therefore, in this embodiment, the control system can perform control based on one or more of the following: input signals from the user interface, sensor signals (from sensors), and timers. The term "timer" can refer to a clock and / or a predetermined timing scheme.
[0101] The control system can be used to control the filament light under different color or correlated color temperature operating modes. Different colors or different color temperatures specifically mean different color points.
[0102] In specific embodiments, the colors or color points of the first type of light and the second type of light may be different when their respective color points differ by at least 0.01 with respect to u' and / or at least 0.01 with respect to v', or even more particularly, by at least 0.02 with respect to u' and / or at least 0.02 with respect to v'. In more specific embodiments, the respective color points of the first type of light and the second type of light may differ by at least 0.03 with respect to u' and / or at least 0.03 with respect to v'. In other specific embodiments, the colors or color points of the first type of light and the second type of light may be substantially the same when their respective color points differ by a maximum of 0.03 with respect to u' and / or at least 0.03 with respect to v', or even more particularly, by a maximum of 0.02 with respect to u' and / or at least 0.02 with respect to v'. In a more specific embodiment, the respective color points of the first type of light and the second type of light may differ by a maximum of 0.01 with respect to u' and / or by at least 0.01 with respect to v'. In this document, u' and v' are the color coordinates of light in the CIE 1976 UCS (Uniform Chromaticity Scale) diagram.
[0103] Such LED filaments are known and described, for example, in US 8,400,051 B2, WO2020016058, WO2019197394, etc. For example, US 8,400,051 B2 describes a light-emitting device comprising: an elongated strip-shaped package having a left end and a right end, the package being formed such that a plurality of leads are integrally formed with a first resin, wherein a portion of the leads is exposed; a light-emitting element fixed to at least one of the leads and electrically connected to at least one of the leads; and a second resin sealing the light-emitting element, wherein the leads are formed of metal, the entire bottom surface of the light-emitting element is covered with at least one of the leads, the entire bottom surface of the package is covered with the first resin, the first resin having sidewalls integrally formed with the portion covering the bottom surface of the package and higher than the upper surface of the leads, the first resin... The grease and the second resin are formed of optically transparent resin. The second resin fills the top of the sidewall of the first resin and includes a fluorescent material with a specific gravity greater than that of the second resin. The lead has an external lead portion for external connection and protrudes from the left and right ends in the longitudinal direction of the package. The fluorescent material is arranged to be concentrated near the light-emitting element and is excited by a portion of the light emitted by the light-emitting element to emit a color different from the color of the light emitted by the light-emitting element. The sidewall transmits a portion of the light emitted by the light-emitting element and entering the sidewall and a portion of the light emitted from the fluorescent material to a portion covering the bottom surface of the package.
[0104] In some embodiments, one or more filaments, particularly all filaments, may have a substantially straight shape. In still other embodiments, one or more filaments, particularly all filaments, may have a curved shape. In still other embodiments, one or more filaments, particularly all filaments, may have a spiral shape. In still other embodiments, one or more filaments, particularly all filaments, may have a helical shape. When two or more filaments have a spiral or helical shape, in some embodiments, the two may have windings with similar configurations. Other shapes of filaments are also possible, such as shapes with characters, such as letters, numbers, flowers, leaves, or other shapes. In particular, in some embodiments, one or more filaments have a spiral or helical shape.
[0105] Light generating devices typically include a light-transmitting envelope (“light bulb”), such as a light-transmitting envelope, for example, a glass envelope in this embodiment. The envelope may at least partially, or even more specifically, enclose one or more filaments. The light-transmitting envelope may have an envelope height (e.g., defined by standard shapes B35, A60, ST63, G90, etc.). The first support structure may have a length of at least 20% of the height of the light-transmitting envelope, such as up to about 80% in this embodiment. In particular, the envelope is transparent to (visible) light.
[0106] The term "white light" as used herein is known to those skilled in the art. It specifically refers to light having a correlated color temperature (CCT) between about 1800 K and 20000 K (e.g., between 2000-20000 K, particularly between 2700-20000 K), particularly in the range of about 2700 K and 6500 K for general illumination. In embodiments, for backlighting purposes, the correlated color temperature (CCT) may particularly be in the range of about 7000 K and 20000 K. Further, in embodiments, the correlated color temperature (CCT) is particularly within about 15 SDCM (color tolerance) from the blackbody track (BBL), particularly within about 10 SDCM from the BBL, and even more particularly within about 5 SDCM from the BBL.
[0107] The terms “visible,” “visible light,” or “visible emission,” and similar terms refer to light having one or more wavelengths in the range of about 380–780 nm. In this document, UV may specifically refer to wavelengths selected from the range of 200–380 nm.
[0108] The terms “light” and “radiation” are used interchangeably herein unless the context explicitly indicates that the term “light” refers only to visible light. Therefore, the terms “light” and “radiation” can refer to UV radiation, visible light, and IR radiation. In specific embodiments, particularly for lighting applications, the terms “light” and “radiation” refer to (at least) visible light.
[0109] The term "violet light" or "violet emission" specifically refers to light with wavelengths in the range of about 380-440 nm. The term "blue light" or "blue emission" specifically refers to light with wavelengths in the range of about 440-490 nm (including some violet and cyan hues). The term "green light" or "green emission" specifically refers to light with wavelengths in the range of about 490-560 nm. The term "yellow light" or "yellow emission" specifically refers to light with wavelengths in the range of about 560-590 nm. The term "orange light" or "orange emission" specifically refers to light with wavelengths in the range of about 590-620 nm. The term "red light" or "red emission" specifically refers to light with wavelengths in the range of about 620-750 nm. The term "cyan" can refer to one or more wavelengths selected from the range of about 490-520 nm. The term "amber" can refer to one or more wavelengths selected from the range of about 585-605 nm, such as about 590-600 nm.

In a further aspect, the present invention also provides a lamp or illuminator comprising a light generating device as defined herein. The illuminator may further include a housing, optical elements, blinds, etc. The lamp or illuminator may also include a housing encapsulating the light generating device. The lamp or illuminator may include a light window or housing opening in the housing through which system light can escape from the housing.
[0111] In particular, in an embodiment, the present invention provides a lighting device including an LED filament device as defined herein, wherein the lighting device is a modified lamp; and wherein the LED filament has a spiral or helical shape.
[0112] Furthermore, in an embodiment, the LED filament device includes an LED filament, wherein the LED filament includes a plurality of light generating devices, each light generating device including a solid-state light source, wherein the plurality of light generating devices includes n1 first light generating devices configured to generate first device light in a first set, n2 second light generating devices configured to generate second device light in a second set, and optionally, n3 third light generating devices configured to generate third device light in a third set, wherein at least a portion of the total n2 second light generating devices in the second set is configured to be adjacent to the first light generating devices in the first set, wherein when available, at least a portion of the total n3 third light generating devices in the third set is configured to be adjacent to the first light generating devices in the first set, wherein the total number of first light generating devices n1 is greater than the total number of second light generating devices n2, wherein when the third light generating devices are available, the total number of first light generating devices n1 is greater than the total number of third light generating devices n3, wherein in a first operating mode, the LED filament device is configured to generate light with a maximum of 2500 K-correlated color temperature filament device light, wherein the filament device light includes first device light of a first set of n1 first light generating devices, second device light of a second set of n2 second light generating devices, and optionally, third device light of a third set of n3 third light generating devices.
