One or more ducts may be in fluid communication with the base, waste drawer, or both via one or more ports. Ducts may be connected to the base via one or more ports. Ducts may be located within ports, attached to ports, or both. One or more ducts may provide a closed-loop ventilation system, an open-loop ventilation system, or both. In a closed-loop ventilation system, air continuously circulates within the filtration system and the litter box. In an exemplary closed-loop ventilation system, air circulates from the base, waste drawer, or both to an outlet duct; from the outlet duct to the housing for filtration; from the housing to an inlet duct; and from the inlet duct to the waste drawer. In an open-loop ventilation system, air is delivered to the external environment, and the ventilation system may not recirculate air into the litter box, or both. The external environment can be any environment physically located outside the litter box (e.g., the surrounding environment), outdoors, or both. To allow ventilation to the outside, one or more ducts may be connected to one or more window openings, door openings, or even ventilation openings in a facility such as a residence. An open-loop ventilation system may or may not include a filtration system. An open-loop ventilation system may include a filtration system such that odors are not released to the outside or the surrounding environment. Litter dispensers can be used to store clean, unused litter; refill a litter dispenser, chamber, or both with clean, unused litter; expand the usability of a litter dispenser without human intervention; or any combination thereof. Litter dispensers can have any size, shape, and / or configuration for fluid communication with the interior of a chamber; be attached to a litter dispenser, base, cover, chamber, or any combination thereof; have the ability to transfer a portion of the litter stored therein into the chamber; have the ability to store litter; or any combination thereof. A litter dispenser may include a litter dispenser, be attached to a litter dispenser, or have no litter dispenser. Litter dispensers may be positioned generally opposite an inlet opening. By being opposite an inlet opening, litter dispensers may not impede the animal's entry or exit, the function of the partition and / or lining, or combinations thereof. Litter dispensers can be particularly useful in expanding the usability of a litter dispenser without human intervention. For example, a waste drawer may have a waste storage capacity greater than the litter capacity of the chamber. Capacity can be measured by volume, frequency of animal use, or even days. Because used litter is transferred to the waste drawer along with animal waste during cleaning cycles, available litter may deplete, fall below desired levels, or both over time. If the available litter level drops below a predetermined volume within the chamber, it may become too shallow. Too little litter may cause the animal to lose interest in the litter box. Too little litter may result in a larger portion of waste directly contacting the chamber, lining, or the inner surfaces of both. Additionally, the available litter in the chamber may be depleted before the waste drawer is full. Traditionally, human intervention would have been required to refill the chamber with fresh litter for the animal to continue using the litter box. Litter dispensers can be particularly advantageous in reducing human intervention in litter boxes. A litter dispenser automatically delivers clean, unused litter into the chamber. Once the litter level in the chamber reaches a certain amount (e.g., volume, height, etc.), the litter dispenser can deliver more litter into the chamber. The level of pet litter in the chamber can be sensed by one or more sensors. For example, one or more presence sensors, excrement sensors, or both can sense the amount of pet litter in the chamber. The pet litter stored in the pet litter dispenser can be any type of pet litter suitable for use with a pet litter device. The pet litter dispenser may include a hopper, a lid, a dispenser housing, a dispensing device, or any combination thereof.
