Abstract

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) can receive an indication of first and second channel measurement resources (CMRs) for measuring channel state information (CSI), each CMR being associated with a first and second transmission configuration indicator state (TCI). The UE can determine CSI for a joint transmission hypothesis, the CSI including two rank indicators, two layer indicators, and two precoding matrix indicators, and can determine a priority for including each indicator in the CSI. In some cases, the UE can identify more than one CSI to be transmitted, and can determine one or more CSI rankings based on the CMRs, and whether each of the one or more CSIs is associated with a single transmission hypothesis of the joint transmission hypothesis. Based on various ranking rules for the CSI, the UE can generate and transmit a CSI report.

Description

Technical Field

[0001] The following relates to wireless communication, including details of the uplink control information payload and ordering for Noncoherent Joint Transmission (NCJT) and Channel State Information (CSI) for Transmitter-Receiver Point (TRP). Background Technology

[0002] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication content, such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, and broadcasting. These systems can support communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (e.g., time, frequency, and power). Examples of such multiple access systems include fourth-generation (4G) systems (such as Long Term Evolution (LTE) systems, improved LTE (LTE-A) systems, or LTE-A Pro systems) and fifth-generation (5G) systems (which may be referred to as New Radio (NR) systems). These systems can employ technologies such as Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA), Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA), Orthogonal FDMA (OFDMA), or Discrete Fourier Transform Extended Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (DFT-S-OFDM). A wireless multiple access communication system may include one or more base stations or one or more network access nodes, each base station or network access node simultaneously supporting communication for multiple communication devices, which may also be referred to as User Equipment (UE).

[0003] UEs can send Channel State Information (CSI) reports to base stations in wireless communication networks. However, some traditional CSI reporting techniques may have shortcomings. Summary of the Invention

[0004] The described techniques relate to improved methods, systems, devices, and apparatuses that support details of uplink control information payloads and ordering for Noncoherent Joint Transmission (NCJT) and Transmitter-Receiver Point (TRP) Channel State Information (CSI). Generally, the techniques provide coordinated communication support for NCJT-based CSI wireless communication systems, including ordering of two rank indicators (RI), layer indicators (LI), and precoding matrix indicators (PMI). Furthermore, the techniques also provide support for prioritizing the packetization and omission of Channel State Information (CSI) reports used in uplink control information.

The UE may determine a CSI that includes two RIs, LIs, and PMIs, and may determine the order of each of the RIs, LIs, and PMIs within their respective sets based on various factors. Alternatively, the UE may determine several CSI reports to be included in the Uplink Control Information (UCI), and may determine the packing or omission rules for including CSI reports in the UCI based on the associated single TRP or NCJT association used for the CSI reports, or based on other aspects of the CSI report configuration.

[0064] In some wireless communication systems, a User Equipment (UE) can perform measurements on signals transmitted by one or more base stations or Transmitter-Receiver Points (TRPs), and can include these measurements in one or more Channel State Information (CSI) reports. In some cases, the UE can participate in multi-TRP (mTRP) operation, where several TRPs can communicate with the UE simultaneously. This contrasts with single-TRP (sTRP) operation, in which the UE communicates with only one TRP at a given time. When the UE supports mTRP operation, it can participate in separate or non-joint transmissions with different single TRPs, or it can participate in non-coherent joint transmissions (NCJT) with a pair of TRPs. Therefore, when providing CSI reports, the UE can provide a CSI report on a per-TRP basis (for sTRP operation) or a CSI report for joint TRP communication (for mTRP operation).

[0065] To support coordinated communication in a wireless communication system, the UE can generate one or more CSI reports, which can be NCJT CSIs or sTRP CSIs associated with one or more TRPs. In addition to other channel quality information, the UE can include several indicators in the CSI report; for example, the UE can include two rank indicators (RI), two layer indicators (LI), and two precoding matrix indicators (PMI). The UE can determine the order of each indicator within the set of two indicators based on various factors, such as the associated channel measurement resource (CMR), reference signal ID value, or the corresponding ordering of other associated parameters.

[0066] Furthermore, the UE can generate multiple CSI reports corresponding to both sTRP and NCJT CSI, and can include more than one CSI report in the uplink control information (UCI) sent to the base station. In this case, the UE can determine the order of CSI reports in the UCI based on the corresponding Channel State Information Reference Signal (CSI-RS) Resource Indicator (CRI) value, CMR set order, CSI-RS value, and other factors. In some cases, the UE can use the identified order of CSI reports in the UCI to further determine various packing and omission priority rules for CSI reports in the UCI (e.g., when the UCI payload exceeds a threshold size).

[0067] First, various aspects of this disclosure are described within the context of a wireless communication system. These aspects will be further illustrated and described with reference to apparatus diagrams, system diagrams, CSI packet configurations, process flows, and flowcharts, which detail the payload and sequencing of uplink control information for NCJT and single TRP CSI.

[0068] Figure 1 Examples of a wireless communication system 100, illustrating details of support for NCJT and single TRP CSI uplink control information payload and sequencing according to various aspects of this disclosure, are shown. The wireless communication system 100 may include one or more base stations 105, one or more UEs 115, and a core network 130. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may be a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, an improved LTE (LTE-A) network, an LTE-A Pro network, or a New Radio (NR) network. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may support enhanced broadband communication, ultra-reliable (e.g., mission-critical) communication, low-latency communication, communication with low-cost and low-complexity devices, or any combination thereof.

[0069] Base stations 105 can be distributed throughout a geographical area to form a wireless communication system 100, and can be devices of different forms or with different capabilities. Base stations 105 and UE 115 can communicate wirelessly via one or more communication links 125. Each base station 105 can provide a coverage area 110, and UE 115 and base station 105 can establish one or more communication links 125 on the coverage area 110. The coverage area 110 can be an example of a geographical area where base station 105 and UE 115 can support communication of signals according to one or more radio access technologies.

[0070] UE 115 can be distributed throughout the coverage area 110 of the entire wireless communication system 100, and each UE 115 can be fixed or mobile at different times, or both. UE 115 can be devices in different forms or with different capabilities. Figure 1 The diagrams illustrate some exemplary UE 115s. For example... Figure 1 As shown, the UE 115 described herein can communicate with various types of devices, such as other UE 115s, base station 105, or network devices (e.g., core network nodes, relay devices, integrated access and backhaul (IAB) nodes, or other network devices).

[0071] Base station 105 may communicate with core network 130, communicate with each other, or both. For example, base station 105 may be connected to core network 130 via one or more backhaul links 120 (e.g., via S1, N2, N3, or other interfaces). Base station 105 may communicate with each other directly (e.g., directly between base stations 105) or indirectly (e.g., via core network 130) or both via backhaul links 120 (e.g., via X2, Xn, or other interfaces). In some examples, backhaul link 120 may be or include one or more radio links.

[0072] One or more base stations 105 described herein may include, or may be referred to by those skilled in the art as, base station transceiver, radio base station, access point, radio transceiver, NodeB, eNodeB (eNB), next-generation NodeB or giga-NodeB (any of which may be referred to as gNB), home NodeB, home eNodeB, or other suitable terms.

[0073] UE 115 may include or be referred to as a mobile device, wireless device, remote device, handheld device, or subscriber device, or some other suitable term, wherein "device" may also be referred to as a unit, station, terminal, or client, and other examples. UE 115 may also include or be referred to as a personal electronic device, such as a cellular phone, personal digital assistant (PDA), tablet computer, laptop computer, or personal computer. In some examples, UE 115 may include or be referred to as a wireless local loop (WLL) station, Internet of Things (IoT) device, Internet of Everything (IoE) device, or machine-type communication (MTC) device, and other examples, which may be implemented in various objects such as appliances or vehicles, meters, and other examples.

[0074] like Figure 1 As shown, the UE 115 described herein can communicate with various types of devices, such as other UE 115s that may sometimes act as relays, as well as base station 105 and network devices, including macro eNBs or gNBs, small cell eNBs or gNBs, or relay base stations and other examples.

[0075] UE 115 and base station 105 can communicate wirelessly with each other via one or more carriers through one or more communication links 125. The term "carrier" can refer to a set of radio frequency spectrum resources having a defined physical layer structure for supporting communication link 125. For example, a carrier for communication link 125 may include a portion of the radio frequency spectrum band (e.g., a bandwidth portion (BWP)) operating according to one or more physical layer channels for a given radio access technology (e.g., LTE, LTE-A, LTE-A Pro, NR). Each physical layer channel may carry acquisition signaling (e.g., synchronization signals, system information), control signaling coordinating operation for the carrier, user data, or other signaling. Wireless communication system 100 can support communication with UE 115 using carrier aggregation or multi-carrier operation. Depending on the carrier aggregation configuration, UE 115 can be configured to have multiple downlink component carriers and one or more uplink component carriers. Carrier aggregation can be used in conjunction with both frequency division duplex (FDD) and time division duplex (TDD) component carriers.

[0076] In some examples (e.g., in a carrier aggregation configuration), the carrier may also have acquisition signaling or control signaling to coordinate operation for other carriers. The carrier may be associated with a frequency channel (e.g., an Evolved Universal Mobile Telecommunications System Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA) Absolute Radio Channel Number (EARFCN)) and can be located according to a channel grating used for discovery by UE 115. The carrier can operate in standalone mode, in which initial acquisition and connection can be performed by UE 115 via the carrier, or the carrier can operate in non-standalone mode, in which a different carrier (e.g., the same or a different radio access technology) is used to anchor the connection.

[0077] The communication link 125 shown in the wireless communication system 100 may include uplink transmission from UE 115 to base station 105, or downlink transmission from base station 105 to UE 115. The carrier may carry downlink communication or uplink communication (e.g., in FDD mode), or may be configured to carry both downlink and uplink communication (e.g., in TDD mode).

[0078] A carrier may be associated with a specific bandwidth of the radio frequency spectrum, and in some examples, the carrier bandwidth may be referred to as the carrier or the “system bandwidth” of the wireless communication system 100. For example, the carrier bandwidth may be one of several defined bandwidths of a carrier for a specific radio access technology (e.g., 1.4, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 40, or 80 MHz). Devices of the wireless communication system 100 (e.g., base station 105, UE 115, or both) may have a hardware configuration that supports communication over a specific carrier bandwidth, or may be configured to support communication over one of a set of carrier bandwidths. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may include a base station 105 or UE 115 that supports simultaneous communication via carriers associated with multiple carrier bandwidths. In some examples, each served UE 115 may be configured to operate on a portion (e.g., a subband, BWP) or all of the carrier bandwidth.

[0079] The signal waveform transmitted on a carrier can consist of multiple subcarriers (e.g., using multi-carrier modulation (MCM) techniques, such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) or discrete Fourier transform extended OFDM (DFT-S-OFDM)). In a system employing MCM, a resource element can include a symbol period (e.g., the duration of a modulation symbol) and a subcarrier, where the symbol period and subcarrier spacing are inversely related. The number of bits carried by each resource element can depend on the modulation scheme (e.g., the order of the modulation scheme, the coding rate of the modulation scheme, or both). Therefore, the more resource elements the UE 115 receives and the higher the order of the modulation scheme, the higher the data rate can be for the UE 115. Wireless communication resources can refer to a combination of radio frequency spectrum resources, temporal resources, and spatial resources (e.g., spatial layers or beams), and the use of multiple spatial layers can further improve the data rate or data integrity of communication with the UE 115.

[0080] One or more digital schemes (numerologies) can be supported for a carrier, where the digital scheme may include subcarrier spacing (Δf) and a cyclic prefix. A carrier can be divided into one or more BWPs with the same or different digital schemes. In some examples, UE 115 can be configured with multiple BWPs. In some examples, a single BWP for a carrier can be active at a given time, and communication for UE 115 can be restricted to one or more active BWPs.

[0081] The time interval for base station 105 or UE 115 can be expressed as a multiple of a basic time unit. For example, the basic time unit can refer to T. s =1 / (Δf) max •N f The sampling period is ) seconds, where Δf max This can represent the maximum supported subcarrier spacing, and N. f This can represent the maximum supported Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) size. The time intervals for organizing communication resources can be based on radio frames, each with a specified duration (e.g., 10 milliseconds (ms)). Each radio frame can be identified by a System Frame Number (SFN) (e.g., ranging from 0 to 1023).

[0082] Each frame may include multiple consecutively numbered subframes or time slots, and each subframe or time slot may have the same duration. In some examples, a frame (e.g., in the time domain) may be divided into subframes, and each subframe may be further divided into several time slots. Alternatively, each frame may include a variable number of time slots, and the number of time slots may depend on the subcarrier spacing. Each time slot may include several symbol periods (e.g., depending on the length of the cyclic prefix appended to each symbol period). In some wireless communication systems 100, time slots may also be divided into multiple micro-time slots containing one or more symbols. Excluding the cyclic prefix, each symbol period may contain one or more (e.g., N) f Sampling period. The duration of the symbol period can depend on the subcarrier spacing or the operating frequency band.

[0083] A subframe, time slot, micro-time slot, or symbol can be the smallest scheduling unit of the wireless communication system 100 (e.g., in the time domain) and can be referred to as a transmission time interval (TTI). In some examples, the duration of the TTI (e.g., the number of symbol periods in the TTI) can be variable. Additionally or alternatively, the smallest scheduling unit of the wireless communication system 100 can be dynamically selected (e.g., in a burst of short TTIs (sTTIs)).

[0084] Depending on the technology, physical channels can be multiplexed on a carrier. For example, one or more of Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), Frequency Division Multiplexing (FDM), or hybrid TDM-FDM techniques can be used to multiplex physical control channels and physical data channels on a downlink carrier. A control region (e.g., a control resource set (CORESET)) for the physical control channel can be defined by several symbol periods and can extend across the system bandwidth or a subset of the system bandwidth of the carrier. One or more control regions (e.g., CORESET) can be configured for a set of UEs 115. For example, one or more UEs 115 can monitor or search for control regions for control information based on one or more search space sets, and each search space set can include one or more control channel candidates from one or more aggregation levels arranged in a concatenated manner. The aggregation level for control channel candidates can refer to the number of control channel resources (e.g., control channel elements (CCEs)) associated with coded information for a control information format having a given payload size. The search space set may include: a common search space set configured to send control information to multiple UEs 115, and a UE-specific search space set used to send control information to a specific UE 115.

[0085] Each base station 105 may provide communication coverage via one or more cells (e.g., macro cells, small cells, hotspots, or other types of cells, or any combination thereof). The term "cell" may refer to a logical communication entity used to communicate with base station 105 (e.g., via a carrier) and may be associated with an identifier used to distinguish neighboring cells (e.g., Physical Cell Identifier (PCID), Virtual Cell Identifier (VCID), or others). In some examples, a cell may also refer to a geographic coverage area 110 or a portion of geographic coverage area 110 (e.g., a sector) on which a logical communication entity operates. Depending on various factors such as the capabilities of base station 105, the range of such cells can range from small areas (e.g., structures, subsets of structures) to large areas. For example, a cell may be or may include buildings, subsets of buildings, or external space between or overlapping geographic coverage areas 110, and other examples.

[0086] Macro cells typically cover a relatively large geographical area (e.g., a radius of several kilometers) and can allow unrestricted access by UE 115 with a service subscription to a network provider supporting the macro cell. In contrast, small cells can be associated with a lower-power base station 105 and can operate in the same or different (e.g., licensed or unlicensed) frequency bands as macro cells. Small cells can provide unrestricted access to UE 115 with a service subscription to a network provider, or restricted access to UE 115 associated with a small cell (e.g., UE 115 in a Closed Subscriber Group (CSG), or UE 115 associated with a user in a residence or office). Base station 105 can support one or more cells and can also use one or more component carriers to support communication on one or more cells.

[0087] In some examples, a carrier can support multiple cells and can be configured with different cells based on different protocol types (e.g., MTC, Narrowband IoT (NB IoT), Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB)), which can provide access for different types of devices.

[0088] In some examples, base station 105 may be mobile and thus provide communication coverage for mobile geographic coverage area 110. In some examples, different geographic coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies may overlap, but different geographic coverage areas 110 may be supported by the same base station 105. In other examples, overlapping geographic coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies may be supported by different base stations 105. Wireless communication system 100 may include, for example, a heterogeneous network in which different types of base stations 105 use the same or different radio access technologies to provide coverage for various geographic coverage areas 110.

[0089] The wireless communication system 100 can support synchronous or asynchronous operation. For synchronous operation, base stations 105 can have similar frame timing, and transmissions from different base stations 105 can be approximately time-aligned. For asynchronous operation, base stations 105 can have different frame timing, and in some examples, transmissions from different base stations 105 can be time-disaligned. The techniques described herein can be used for both synchronous and asynchronous operation.

[0090] Some UE 115 devices, such as MTC or IoT devices, can be low-cost or low-complexity devices and can provide automated communication between machines (e.g., via machine-to-machine (M2M) communication). M2M communication or MTC can refer to data communication technologies that allow devices to communicate with each other or with base station 105 without human intervention. In some examples, M2M communication or MTC may include communication from devices with integrated sensors or instruments to measure or capture information and relay such information to a central server or application that utilizes or presents the information to a person interacting with the application. Some UE 115 devices can be designed to collect information or enable automated behavior of machines or other devices. Examples of applications for MTC devices include smart metering, inventory monitoring, water level monitoring, equipment monitoring, healthcare monitoring, wildlife monitoring, weather and geological event monitoring, fleet management and tracking, remote security sensing, physical access control, and transaction-based service charging.

[0091] Some UE 115s can be configured to operate in a power-saving mode, such as half-duplex communication (e.g., a mode that supports unidirectional communication via either transmit or receive, but not simultaneous transmit and receive). In some examples, half-duplex communication can be performed at a reduced peak rate. Other power-saving techniques for UE 115 include: entering a power-efficient deep sleep mode when not engaged in active communication, operating on limited bandwidth (e.g., according to narrowband communication), or a combination of these techniques. For example, some UE 115s can be configured to operate using a narrowband protocol type associated with a defined portion or range (e.g., a set of subcarriers or resource blocks (RBs)) within a carrier, within a carrier's guard band, or outside a carrier.

[0092] Wireless communication system 100 can be configured to support ultra-reliable communication or low-latency communication, or various combinations thereof. For example, wireless communication system 100 can be configured to support ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) or mission-critical communication. UE 115 can be designed to support ultra-reliable, low-latency, or mission-critical functions (e.g., mission-critical functions). Ultra-reliable communication can include private or group communication and can be supported by one or more mission-critical services such as mission-critical keypad calling (MCPTT), mission-critical video (MCVideo), or mission-critical data (MCData). Support for mission-critical functions can include prioritizing services, and mission-critical services can be used for public safety or general commercial applications. The terms ultra-reliable, low-latency, mission-critical, and ultra-reliable low-latency are used interchangeably herein.

[0093] In some examples, UE 115 may also be able to communicate directly with other UE 115 via device-to-device (D2D) communication link 135 (e.g., using peer-to-peer (P2P) or D2D protocols). One or more UE 115s utilizing D2D communication may be located within the geographic coverage area 110 of base station 105. Other UE 115s in such a group may be outside the geographic coverage area 110 of base station 105, or may be unable to receive transmissions from base station 105 for other reasons. In some examples, the group of UE 115s communicating via D2D communication may utilize a one-to-many (1:M) system, in which each UE 115 transmits to every other UE 115 in the group. In some examples, base station 105 facilitates the scheduling of resources for D2D communication. In other cases, D2D communication is performed among these UE 115s without the involvement of base station 105.

[0094] In some systems, the D2D communication link 135 may be an example of a communication channel (such as a sidelink communication channel) between vehicles (e.g., UE 115). In some examples, vehicles may communicate using vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication, or some combination of these. Vehicles may signal information related to traffic conditions, signal control, weather, safety, emergencies, or any other information related to the V2X system. In some examples, vehicles in a V2X system may communicate with roadside infrastructure (such as roadside units) using vehicle-to-network (V2N) communication, or with the network via one or more network nodes (e.g., base station 105), or both.

[0095] Core network 130 can provide user authentication, access authorization, tracking, Internet Protocol (IP) connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. Core network 130 can be an evolved packet core (EPC) or a 5G core (5GC), which may include at least one control plane entity for managing access and mobility (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME), access and mobility management function (AMF)) and at least one user plane entity for routing packets or interconnects to external networks (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW), packet data network (PDN) gateway (P-GW), or user plane function (UPF)). The control plane entity can manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management for UE 115 served by base station 105 associated with core network 130. User IP packets can be delivered through the user plane entity, which can provide IP address allocation and other functions. The user plane entity can connect to IP services 150 for one or more network operators. IP services 150 may include access to the Internet, intranets, IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), or packet-switched streaming services.

[0096] Some network devices (such as base station 105) may include sub-components (such as access network entity 140), which may be an example of an access node controller (ANC). Each access network entity 140 may communicate with UE 115 through one or more other access network transport entities 145, which may be referred to as a radio headend, smart radio headend, or transmit / receive point (TRP). Each access network transport entity 145 may include one or more antenna panels. In some configurations, the various functions of each access network entity 140 or base station 105 may be distributed across various network devices (e.g., radio headends and ANCs) or combined into a single network device (e.g., base station 105).

[0097] Wireless communication system 100 can operate using one or more frequency bands typically in the range of 300 MHz to 300 GHz. The region from 300 MHz to 3 GHz is generally referred to as the Ultra High Frequency (UHF) region or decimeter band because the wavelength range is approximately 1 decimeter to 1 meter in length. UHF waves may be blocked or redirected by buildings and environmental features, but these waves can be sufficient to penetrate structures so that macrocells can provide service to UE 115 located indoors. Compared to the transmission of waves with smaller frequencies and longer wavelengths in the lower 300 MHz portion of the spectrum, such as the High Frequency (HF) or Very High Frequency (VHF), UHF wave transmission can be associated with smaller antennas and shorter distances (e.g., less than 100 km).

[0098] The wireless communication system 100 can also operate in the ultra-high frequency (SHF) region, also known as the centimeter band, using a frequency band from 3 GHz to 30 GHz, or in the extremely high frequency (EHF) region of the spectrum (e.g., from 30 GHz to 300 GHz), also known as the millimeter band. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 can support millimeter-wave (mmW) communication between the UE 115 and the base station 105, and the EHF antennas of the individual devices can be smaller and more closely spaced than UHF antennas. In some examples, this can facilitate the use of antenna arrays within the device. However, the propagation of EHF transmissions may be affected by greater atmospheric attenuation and shorter range than SHF or UHF transmissions. The techniques disclosed herein can be employed across transmissions using one or more different frequency regions, and the designated use of frequency bands across these frequency regions can vary by country or regulatory body.

[0099] Wireless communication system 100 can use licensed and unlicensed radio frequency spectrum bands. For example, wireless communication system 100 can employ licensed assisted access (LAA), LTE unlicensed (LTE-U) radio access technology, or NR technology in unlicensed bands such as the 5 GHz Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band. When operating in unlicensed radio frequency spectrum bands, devices such as base station 105 and UE 115 can employ carrier sensing for collision detection and avoidance. In some examples, operation in unlicensed bands can be based on carrier aggregation configurations combined with component carriers operating in licensed bands (e.g., LAA). Operation in unlicensed spectrum can include downlink transmissions, uplink transmissions, P2P transmissions, or D2D transmissions, and other examples.

[0100] Base station 105 or UE 115 may be equipped with multiple antennas, which may be used to employ techniques such as transmit diversity, receive diversity, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication, or beamforming. The antennas of base station 105 or UE 115 may be located within one or more antenna arrays or antenna panels, which may support MIMO operation or transmit beamforming or receive beamforming. For example, one or more base station antennas or antenna arrays may be located together at an antenna assembly, such as an antenna tower. In some examples, the antennas or antenna arrays associated with base station 105 may be located at different geographical locations. Base station 105 may have an antenna array with several rows and columns of antenna ports, which base station 105 may use to support beamforming for communication with UE 115. Similarly, UE 115 may have one or more antenna arrays, which may support various MIMO or beamforming operations. Additionally or alternatively, antenna panels may support radio frequency beamforming for signals transmitted via antenna ports.

[0101] Base station 105 or UE 115 can use MIMO communication to utilize multipath signal propagation and can improve spectral efficiency by transmitting or receiving multiple signals via different spatial layers. This technique can be referred to as spatial multiplexing. For example, the multiple signals can be transmitted by a transmitting device via different antennas or different combinations of antennas. Similarly, the multiple signals can be received by a receiving device via different antennas or different combinations of antennas. Each of the multiple signals can be referred to as a separate spatial stream and can carry bits associated with the same data stream (e.g., the same codeword) or different data streams (e.g., different codewords). Different spatial layers can be associated with different antenna ports used for channel measurement and reporting. MIMO technology includes single-user MIMO (SU-MIMO) and multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO). In SU-MIMO, multiple spatial layers are transmitted to the same receiving device, and in MU-MIMO, multiple spatial layers are transmitted to multiple devices.

[0102] Beamforming, also known as spatial filtering, directional transmission, or directional reception, is a signal processing technique used at transmitting or receiving devices (e.g., base station 105, UE 115) to shape or guide antenna beams (e.g., transmit beams, receive beams) along a spatial path between the transmitting and receiving devices. Beamforming can be achieved by combining signals transmitted via antenna elements of an antenna array such that signals propagating in a specific direction relative to the antenna array experience constructive interference, while other signals experience destructive interference. Adjustments to the signals transmitted via the antenna elements can include applying amplitude shifts, phase shifts, or both to the signals carried via the antenna elements associated with the device. The adjustments associated with each of these antenna elements can be defined by a beamforming weight set associated with a specific direction (e.g., relative to the antenna array of the transmitting or receiving device or relative to some other direction).

[0103] Base station 105 or UE 115 may use beam scanning technology as part of beamforming operations. For example, base station 105 may use multiple antennas or antenna arrays (e.g., antenna panels) to perform beamforming operations for directional communication with UE 115. Some signals (e.g., synchronization signals, reference signals, beam selection signals, or other control signals) may be transmitted multiple times by base station 105 in different directions. For example, base station 105 may transmit signals according to different beamforming weight sets associated with different transmission directions. Transmissions in different beam directions may be used to identify (e.g., by a transmitting device (such as base station 105) or by a receiving device (such as UE 115)) the beam direction so that base station 105 may transmit or receive later.

[0104] Some signals, such as data signals associated with a specific receiving device, may be transmitted by base station 105 in a single beam direction (e.g., the direction associated with the receiving device, such as UE 115). In some examples, the beam direction associated with transmission along a single beam direction may be determined based on the signals transmitted in one or more beam directions. For example, UE 115 may receive one or more signals transmitted by base station 105 in different directions and may report to base station 105 an indication of signals received by UE 115 with the highest signal quality or other acceptable signal quality.

[0105] In some examples, transmissions performed by devices (e.g., base station 105 or UE 115) may be performed using multiple beam directions, and the devices may use a combination of digital precoding or radio frequency beamforming to generate combined beams for transmission (e.g., from base station 105 to UE 115). UE 115 may report feedback indicating precoding weights for one or more beam directions, and this feedback may correspond to a configured number of beams across the system bandwidth or one or more subbands. Base station 105 may transmit reference signals (e.g., cell-specific reference signals (CRS), channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS)), which may or may not be precoded. UE 115 may provide feedback for beam selection, which may be a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) or codebook-based feedback (e.g., multi-panel codebook, linear combination codebook, port selection codebook). Although these techniques are described in reference to the signals transmitted by the base station 105 in one or more directions, the UE 115 may employ similar techniques to transmit signals multiple times in different directions (e.g., to identify beam direction for subsequent transmission or reception by the UE 115), or to transmit signals in a single direction (e.g., to transmit data to a receiving device).

[0106] When receiving various signals (such as synchronization signals, reference signals, beam selection signals, or other control signals) from base station 105, the receiving device (e.g., UE 115) can attempt multiple receiving configurations (e.g., directional listening). For example, the receiving device can attempt multiple receiving directions based on different receiving configurations or receiving directions by: receiving via different antenna subarrays; processing the received signal according to different antenna subarrays; receiving according to different sets of receiving beamforming weights applied to the signals received at multiple antenna elements of the antenna array (e.g., different directional listening weight sets); or processing the received signal according to different sets of receiving beamforming weights applied to the signals received at multiple antenna elements of the antenna array, any of which can be referred to as "listening". In some examples, the receiving device can use a single receiving configuration to receive along a single beam direction (e.g., when receiving a data signal). The single receiving configuration can be aligned on a beam direction determined based on listening according to different receiving configuration directions (e.g., a beam direction determined to have the highest signal strength, highest signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), or other acceptable signal quality based on listening according to multiple beam directions).

[0107] The wireless communication system 100 can be a packet-based network operating according to a layered protocol stack. In the user plane, communication at the bearer or Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) layer can be IP-based. The Radio Link Control (RLC) layer can perform packet segmentation and reassembly for communication over logical channels. The Media Access Control (MAC) layer can perform priority handling and multiplexing of logical channels to transport channels. The MAC layer can also use error detection, error correction, or both to support retransmissions at the MAC layer to improve link efficiency. In the control plane, the Radio Resource Control (RRC) protocol layer can provide the establishment, configuration, and maintenance of RRC connections supporting radio bearers for user plane data between the UE 115 and the base station 105 or core network 130. At the physical layer, transport channels can be mapped to physical channels.

[0108] UE 115 and base station 105 can support data retransmission to increase the likelihood of successful data reception. Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) feedback is a technique used to increase the likelihood of correct data reception over communication link 125. HARQ can include a combination of error detection (e.g., using Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC)), forward error correction (FEC), and retransmission (e.g., Automatic Repeat Request (ARQ)). HARQ can improve throughput at the MAC layer under poor radio conditions (e.g., low signal-to-noise ratio conditions). In some examples, the device can support simultaneous slot HARQ feedback, in which the device can provide HARQ feedback in a specific time slot for data received in a previous symbol within that time slot. In other cases, the device can provide HARQ feedback in subsequent time slots or according to some other time interval.

[0109] In some examples, the base station can send a CSI report configuration to the UE 115, which configures resources for CSI reporting. The CSI report configuration can be linked to one or more resource settings, each of which can have an active set of resources. For example, the CSI report configuration can be linked to a single resource setting (e.g., a channel measurement (CMR) resource setting), two resource settings (e.g., a CMR resource setting and a CSI-IM or non-zero power IMR (NZP-IMR) resource setting), or three resource settings (e.g., a CMR resource setting, a CSI-IM resource setting, and a NZP-IMR resource setting). Each resource setting can have multiple resource sets, one of which can be the active resource set used by the UE 115 for CSI measurements. For example, a CMR resource setting can have n CMR resource sets, one of which can be configured for channel measurements. A CSI-IM resource setting can have m CSI-IM resource sets, one of which can be configured for interference measurements. The NZP-IMR resource setup can have *s* NZP-IMR resource sets, one of which, a CSI-IMR resource set, is configured for interference measurements. An active resource set can include one or more resources (e.g., N resources).

[0110] Each CMR in the CMR resource set can be associated with a corresponding Transmission Configuration Indicator (TCI) state (e.g., corresponding to, configured with), which can also be referred to as a Transmit / Receive Point (TRP). Therefore, each CMR can be associated with a TRP.

[0111] CMRs in the CMR resource set can also be associated with a single TRP (sTRP) assumption (e.g., corresponding to, configured for). If the TRP associated with UE 115 supports joint transmission, a pair of CMR resources in the CMR resource set can be configured for the NCJT assumption associated with these TRPs. The CMRs constituting a pair of CMR resources for the NCJT assumption can be selected from two sets of CMR resources determined by base station 105 (e.g., one CMR can be selected from the first set and another CMR from the second set). Therefore, one or more CMRs in the CMR resource set can be configured for the corresponding sTRP assumption, and one or more pairs of CMRs (e.g., N pairs) in the CMR resource set can be configured for the corresponding NCJT assumption. CMRs in the CMR resource set can be used for both NCJT and sTRP assumptions. Assumptions can also be referred to as transmission assumptions, measurement assumptions, CSI assumptions, or other suitable terms.

[0112] UE 115 can be configured to provide one or more CSI reports corresponding to various assumptions. In a first CSI reporting option (referred to as Option 1), UE 115 can be configured to provide CSI reports for the NCJT assumption configured for the UE and X (e.g., 0, 1, 2) CSI reports for the sTRP assumption configured for UE 115. The NCJT CSI report (referred to as the NCJT CSI report) can be a CSI report associated with multiple (e.g., two) CMRs, which can then be configured with two corresponding TCI states associated with two TRPs. In the first option (Option 1), UE 115 can generate a CSI for each NCJT assumption and select the best CSI to report to base station 105. If X equals zero (e.g., UE 115 is configured to provide zero CSI reports for the sTRP assumption), then UE 115 may not generate a CSI for any sTRP assumption. Therefore, when X in option 1 is zero, the CMR of either group cannot be used for the sTRP hypothesis (instead, the CMR can be used in pairs for the NCJT hypothesis).

[0113] In the second CSI reporting option (Option 2), UE 115 can be configured to report a single (e.g., best) CSI report for a set of NCJT and sTRP assumptions configured for UE 115. In Option 1 or Option 2, the CSI report may include a CSI-RS Resource Indicator (CRI) that indicates the CSI-RS resource (e.g., CMR) to which the CSI report corresponds.

[0114] For any reporting option, UE 115 can be configured to send a CSI report in the Uplink Control Information (UCI) associated with the NCJT measurement assumption or the sTRP assumption configured by the single CSI report setting. In this case, UE 115 may include one or more rank indicators (RI), PMI, and layer indicators (LI) per codeword. For example, UE 115 can be configured to report two RIs, PMIs, and LIs in the UCI. Additionally, the UE can report a channel quality information (CQI).

[0115] The UE can format RI, LI, PMI, and CQI in one or more CSI reports or in sections of a CSI report. For example, in some cases, the UE 115 can determine the number of bits used for RI and LI reporting based on the number of antenna ports (e.g., the number of CSI-RS ports or the number of ports in CMR) and the number of possible RI values configured by RRC. In some cases, the reported LI may correspond to the strongest layer associated with the RI, and the number of bits used to report the LI may be based on the reported RI value.

[0116] In some examples, UE 115 may report RI and CRI (which determines whether to report the NCJT CSI assumption or the sTRP assumption) in CSI Part 1 (e.g., CSI Part 1), and LI and PMI in CSI Part 2 (e.g., CSI Part 2). In some cases, the number of bits used to report PMI and CSI may be functions of RI and CMR, such that the size or bit width of the LI and PMI fields in CSI Part 2 may depend at least in part on the RI value in CSI Part 1. In this case, CSI Part 1 may have a constant size (e.g., independent of the CSI payload), while the size of CSI Part 2 may be based on the payload corresponding to CSI Part 1 (e.g., CSI Part 1 and CSI Part 2 may be encoded separately).

[0117] According to the techniques described herein, UE 115 can improve NCJT CSI reporting by using one or more techniques for sorting two RIs, PMIs, and / or LIs in NCJT CSI reports. These techniques can allow sorting of RIs, PMIs, and / or LIs in corresponding RI, PMI, and LI pairs based on associated CMR sorting, CSI-RS ID values, or various other techniques. Furthermore, when one or more sTRP CSI reports are reported in the same UCI as an NCJT CSI report, UE 115 can determine the sorting of CSI reports in the Uplink Control Information (UCI). For example, UE 115 can sort sTRP and NCJT CSI reports based on corresponding CRI values, CMR set sorting, CSI-RS values, and other factors. In some cases, UE 115 can use the identified sorting of CSI reports in the UCI to further determine various packing and omission priority rules for CSI reports in the UCI (e.g., when the UCI payload exceeds a threshold size, and when some CSI reports can be omitted from the UCI).

[0118] Figure 2 An example of a wireless communication system 200 is shown, illustrating details of the support for NCJT and single TRP CSI uplink control information payload and sequencing according to various aspects of this disclosure. The wireless communication system 200 may include TRP 205-a and TRP 205-b, and UE 215. UE 215 may receive communication from TRP 205-a (e.g., via communication link 210-b) and TRP 205-b (e.g., via communication link 210-b). Communication from TRP 205-a and TRP 205-b may be coordinated, at least in part, by base stations associated with TRP 205-a and TRP 205-b.

[0119] In some examples, UE 215 can receive separate (non-joint, individual) communications from TRP 205-a and TRP 205-b, where the separate communications are independent of the other TRP 205 communications from one of the TRP 205s. In some examples, UE 215 can receive joint communications from TRP 205s, where the joint communications are communications from both TRP 205s. Therefore, TRP 205 can be configured to support separate and joint transmissions. In some examples, TRP 205 can be configured to support coherent joint transmission, incoherent joint transmission, or both. Coherent joint transmission can involve selecting transmission weights at TRP 205 (based on knowledge of the channel between UE 215 and TRP 205) to concentrate energy on transmission at UE 215 (e.g., in a non-co-located beamforming type). Incoherent joint transmission can be in which TRP 205 cooperate with each other to increase the power gain of the transmission, increase the rank that UE 215 may be able to receive (for capacity enhancement), or increase the diversity of the transmission (e.g., for reliability enhancement, especially when a signal from one of the TRPs may be blocked due to a poor propagation environment).

[0120] To support coordinated communication in the wireless communication system 200, the device can generate and exchange CSI reports. For example, UE 215 can generate one or more CSI reports, which can be NCJT CSI or sTRP CSI associated with communication between TRP 205. UE 215 can identify the two RI, PMI, and LI capabilities included in the NCJT CSI, and can determine the ordering of the two RI, PMI, and LI based on various CSI measurement and reporting configurations.

[0121] For an NCJT (e.g., mTRP or multiple TCI state) CSI associated with a pair of CMRs in a CSI reporting configuration, UE 215 may report at least one of the two RIs, two PMIs, or two LIs associated with the two CMRs as part of the CSI report. In some examples, UE 215 may determine the order of the two RIs, PMIs, or LIs in the CSI report payload based on the order of the two CMRs in the CMR pair. For example, this pair of CMRs may be configured for UE 215 for NCJT assumptions, and the UE may determine the explicit or implicit ordering of the CMRs in the CMR pair.

[0122] In some other cases, UE 215 can identify one or more CMR groups configured within the CSI-RS resource set in the CSI report configuration. In this case, UE 215 can determine that a first RI, PMI, or LI in the RI, PMI, or LI set is associated with a CMR in the first CMR group, and a second RI, PMI, or LI in the RI, PMI, or LI set is associated with a CMR in the second CMR group. In some other cases, the order of two RI, PMI, or LI sets can be based on the order in which the two CMRs appear in the CSI-RS resource set (e.g., the RI, LI, or PMI associated with the first CMR that appears first in the CSI-RS resource set will be ordered first in the two RI, LI, or PMI sets).

[0123] In some other examples, UE 215 may determine the order of two RI, PMI, or LI based on the relative values of two CMRCSI-RS resource IDs (e.g., the first RI, LI, or PMI may be associated with a CMR that has a smaller CSI-RS resource ID).

[0124] UE 215 can generate multiple CSI reports based on communication with TRP 205. For example, in some cases, UE 215 can generate three CSI reports (e.g., when X=2 is configured), and UE 215 can generate two sTRP CSI reports and one NCJT CSI report. In this case, UE 215 can determine the order of the CSI reports it includes in the UCI transmission. For example, when UE 215 is configured to report two CSI reports associated with the sTRP measurement assumption and one CSI report associated with the NCJT measurement assumption in the CSI reporting configuration (e.g., a total of three CSIs are reported for the CSI reporting configuration), the order of the three CSIs in the UCI is determined based on various factors. For example, UE 215 can identify the order based on the order between the sTRP CSIs and the NCJT CSIs (e.g., the two single TRP CSIs can be placed first in the UCI, or the NCJT CSI can be placed first in the CSIs based on the identified order). Therefore, for two CSIs corresponding to the sTRP assumption, the order of the two sTRP CSIs in the UCI can be based on the CSI-RS resource indicator (CRI) value corresponding to the sTRP CSI (e.g., placing the sTRP associated with the lower CRI value first in the UCI).

[0125] In some other examples, the ordering of two sTRP CSIs in the UCI can be based on the CMR group to which the corresponding CSIs belong (e.g., a CSI corresponding to the first CMR group can be placed in the UCI first). In some other examples, UE 215 can determine the ordering of two sTRP CSIs based on the corresponding CSI-RS resource ID (e.g., a CSI corresponding to a CMR with a lower CSI-RS resource ID can be placed in the UCI first). In some other examples, UE 215 can determine the ordering of two sTRP CSIs in the UCI based on the order in which the corresponding CMRs appear in the CSI-RS resource set (e.g., a CSI whose associated CMR first appears in the CSI-RS resource set can be placed in the UCI order first).

[0126] Additionally or alternatively, UE 215 may use the ordering of CSI reports to determine CSI omission rules for inclusion in the UCI. For example, when CSI Part 2 (e.g., CSI Part 2) is multiplexed on the Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH), the ordering of CSI reports determines which CSIs UE 215 may omit from the UCI first if PUSCH resources are insufficient to support the UCI payload. Furthermore, UE 215 may use the identified priorities of CSI reports within a given CSI report configuration to determine one or more UCI multiplexing rules on the Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) in the case of multiple overlapping UCIs.

[0127] Figure 3 Examples of different UCI packet configurations 300 are shown, illustrating details of support for NCJT and single TRP CSI uplink control information payload and sequencing, based on various aspects of this disclosure. The UCI packet configuration can be implemented by the UE, such as as described in [reference]. Figure 1 and Figure 2 The UE 115 or 215 mentioned above.

[0128] In some examples, the UE can be configured to report CSIs in two parts (e.g., part 1 CSI and part 2 CSI) on the PUSCH. In such examples, if the UCI payload exceeds the threshold payload size, the UE can omit a portion of part 2 CSI. The UE can determine the omission priority of part 2 CSI reporting based on several priority rules. For example, for each CSI report, the broadband portions of all reports are aggregated together, and then omitted after being packaged. Subband portions can be divided into two parts, such that the first part is odd-numbered subband CSIs (e.g., if type I), and the second part is even-numbered subband CSIs (e.g., if type I). Therefore, the first part (e.g., odd-numbered subbands) can be packaged before the second part (e.g., even-numbered subbands) and omitted after the second part.

[0129] UCI packet configurations 305 and 310 illustrate example UCI packet configurations that a UE can use when X=1 (e.g., one sTRP CSI and one NCJT CSI). In UCI packet configuration 305, the UE can packetize CSI reports based on the CSI assumption ordering and then based on odd / even subband priority. For example, the UE can packetize odd subband sTRP CSIs, followed by even subband sTRP CSIs, followed by a first TRP odd subband NCJT CSI (e.g., where the first TRP corresponds to the first CMRPMI of the CMR pair associated with the NCJT CSI), followed by even subbands for the first TRP NCJT CSI, followed by a second TRP odd subband NCJT CSI (e.g., where the second TRP corresponds to the second CMRPMI of the CMR pair associated with the NCJT CSI), followed by even subbands for the second TRP NCJT CSI. In UCI packet configuration 310, the UE can packetize CSI reports based on odd / even subband priority, and then based on the order of the CSI assumption. For example, the UE can packetize odd subband sTRPCSI, followed by NCJT CSI for the first and second TRP odd subbands. Then, the UE can packetize even subband sTRP CSI, followed by NCJT CSI for the first and second TRP even subbands.

[0130] UCI Packaging Configurations 315 and 320 illustrate example UCI Packaging Configurations that a UE can use when X=2 (e.g., two sTRP CSIs and one NCJT CSI). In UCI Packaging Configuration 315, the UE can pack CSI reports based on the order of the CSI assumptions, and then based on the odd / even subband priority. For example, the UE can package the first sTRP CSI odd subband (for the first TRP), followed by the first sTRP CSI even subband (for the first TRP), then the second sTRP CSI odd subband (for the second TRP), then the second sTRP CSI even subband (for the second TRP), then the first TRP NCJT CSI odd subband, then the first TRP NCJT CSI even subband (e.g., where the first TRP corresponds to the first CMRPMI in the CMR pair associated with the NCJT CSI), then the second TRP NCJT CSI odd subband (e.g., where the second TRP corresponds to the second CMR PMI in the CMR pair associated with the NCJT CSI), then the second TRP NCJTCSI even subband. In UCI packaging configuration 320, the UE can package CSI reports based on odd / even subband priority and then based on the order of the CSI assumptions. For example, the UE can package the first and second sTRP CSI odd subbands (for the first and second TRPs), followed by the first and second TRP NCJT CSI odd subbands. Then, the UE can package the first and second sTRPCSI even subbands (for the first and second TRPs), followed by the first and second TRP NCJT CSI even subbands.

[0131] In the example UCI packet configuration 300, the UE can start UCI packetization from the odd-numbered subband of the sTRP CSI, and can omit CSI from the even-numbered subband of the NCJT CSI associated with the second TRP.

[0132] Figure 4Examples of process flows 400 supporting details of uplink control information payloads and sequencing for NCJT and single TRP CSI are shown according to various aspects of this disclosure. In some examples, process flow 400 may be associated with aspects of wireless communication system 100 or wireless communication system 200. For example, process flow 400 may be implemented by base station 405 and UE 415, which may be the base station or UE example described herein. Process flow 400 may allow UE 315 to determine the sequencing of the two RIs, LIs, and PMIs in the NCJT CSI. In some cases, alternative examples of the following process flows may be implemented, where some steps are performed in a different order than those described or not at all. In some cases, steps may include additional features not mentioned below, or further steps may be added. Furthermore, while process flow 400 illustrates procedures between a single base station and UE, it should be understood that these procedures can occur between any number of network devices.

[0133] At 420, base station 405 can transmit and UE 415 can receive indications of a first CMR and a second CMR in the CMR set, both of which are configured to measure CSI-RS. In some cases, the first CMR may be associated with a first TCI state, and the second CMR may be associated with a second TCI state.

[0134] At 425, UE 415 can determine the CSI used for the joint transmission assumption to be included in the CSI report, which includes two RIs, two PMIs, two LIs, or a combination thereof. In some examples, each indicator in each pair of indicators can be associated with a corresponding one of the first CMR or the second CMR.

[0135] At 430, UE 415 can identify the order of each indicator (e.g., each RI, PMI, and LI) in at least one pair of indicators associated with the first and second CMRs to incorporate into the CSI report. In some examples, UE 415 can determine the order based on the CMR order of the first and second CMRs. In some cases, UE 415 can receive implicit or explicit indication of the CMR order (e.g., from base station 405). In some cases, UE 415 can send to base station 405 information about its ability to send a CSI report for joint transmission assumptions, the CSI report including two RIs, LIs, and PMIs or a combination thereof.

[0136] In some other examples, UE 415 may determine the order of each indicator by associating the first indicator of at least one pair of indicators with the first CMR based on the association of the first CMR with the first CMR group. UE 415 may also associate the second indicator of at least one pair of indicators with the second CMR based on the association of the second CMR with the second CMR group. In this case, the CMR set includes both the first and second CMRs.

[0137] In some other examples, UE 415 may determine the order of each indicator in at least one pair of indicators based on the order in which the first CMR and the second CMR appear in the CMR set.

[0138] In some cases, UE 415 identifies a first CRI associated with a first CMR and a second CRI associated with a second CMR, and UE 415 may determine the order of each indicator in at least one pair of paired indicators based on the corresponding values of the first and second CRIs. For example, the CRI associated with the first indicator may have a smaller value than the CRI associated with the second indicator.

[0139] At 435, the UE can send an NCJT CSI report that includes the identified order of RI, PMI, and LI.

[0140] Figure 5 Examples of process flows 500 supporting details of uplink control information payloads and ordering for NCJT and single TRP CSI, according to various aspects of this disclosure, are shown. In some examples, process flow 500 may be associated with aspects of wireless communication system 100 or wireless communication system 200. For example, process flow 500 may be implemented by base station 505 and UE 515, which may be the base station or UE example described herein. Process flow 500 allows UE 515 to determine ordering rules for multiple sTRP and NCJT CSI reports in UCI. In some cases, alternative examples of the following process flows may be implemented, where some steps are performed in a different order than described or not at all. In some cases, steps may include additional features not mentioned below, or further steps may be added. Furthermore, while process flow 500 illustrates procedures between a single base station and UE, it should be understood that these procedures can occur between any number of network devices.

[0141] At 520, base station 505 can transmit and UE 515 can receive indications for a first CMR and a second CMR, each CMR being configured to measure CSI-RS, the first CMR being associated with a first TCI state, and the second CMR being associated with a second TCI state.

[0142] At 525, base station 505 can transmit and UE 515 can receive CSI-RS configurations for measuring a first CSI report, a second CSI report, and a third CSI report, wherein the first CSI report includes a first single-transmission assumption associated with the CMR, the second CSI report includes a second single-transmission assumption associated with the second CMR, and the third CSI report includes a joint transmission assumption associated with the third CMR and the fourth CMR.

[0143] At 530, UE 515 can identify the order of the first CSI report, second CSI report, and third CSI report for inclusion in UCI based on the association between the corresponding channel CSI and the single transmission or joint transmission assumption.

[0144] In some examples, UE 515 may assign the first and second CSI reports to UCI Part 1, or assign the third CSI report to UCI Part 1. In some cases, UE 515 may sort the first and second CSI reports based on their corresponding CRI values. In this case, the CSI report corresponding to the lowest CRI value is ranked first, or the sorting may be based on the corresponding CMR group used for the CSI reports, with the CSI report associated with the first CMR group being ranked first.

[0145] In some other examples, UE 515 can sort the first and second CSI reports based on the corresponding CSI reference signal resource ID values, and the CSI report corresponding to the lowest CSI reference signal resource ID value can be ranked first in the sort.

[0146] In some other examples, UE 515 may sort the first CSI report and the second CSI report based on the order in which the corresponding CMRs for the first CSI report and the second CSI report appear in the CSI resource set, with the first CMR appearing in the CSI resource set being ranked first.

[0147] In some other examples, UE 515 may first order CSI reports based on the order of the corresponding transmission assumptions in the UCI, and secondly based on the alternating subbands of the CSI reports. In other cases, UE 515 may first order CSI reports based on the alternating subbands of the CSI reports, and secondly based on the order of the corresponding transmission assumptions in the UCI.

[0148] In some examples, UE 515 may determine CSI report omission rules based on the order of CSI reports. In some cases, UE 515 may apply CSI report omission rules to the second part of a CSI report multiplexed on uplink resources for transmission of UCI. In some cases, UCI overlaps with at least one other UCI, and UCI is multiplexed based on the identified overlap.

[0149] At 535, UE 515 can transmit and base station 505 can receive UCI including the order of CSI.

The communication manager 620 may be configured or otherwise supported to support elements for receiving configurations for measuring channel state information reference signals for a first channel state information report, a second channel state information report, and a third channel state information report, the first channel state information report including a first single transmission assumption associated with the first channel measurement resource, the second channel state information report including a second single transmission assumption associated with the second channel measurement resource, and the third channel state information report including a joint transmission assumption associated with both the third and fourth channel measurement resources. The communication manager 620 can be configured or otherwise supported to identify the order of a first channel state information report, a second channel state information report, and a third channel state information report based on the association of corresponding channel state information with single transmission or joint transmission assumptions, for inclusion in uplink control information. The communication manager 620 can also be configured or otherwise supported to transmit the ordered uplink control information to the base station.

[0159] By including or configuring the communication manager 620 according to the examples described herein, device 605 (e.g., a processor that controls or otherwise couples to receiver 610, transmitter 615, communication manager 620, or a combination thereof) can support techniques for more efficient use of communication resources, more efficient CSI reporting and prioritization, and more efficient prioritization of RI, LI, and PMI within CSI reports.

[0160] Figure 7 A block diagram 700 illustrates a device 705 detailing support for uplink control information payloads and sequencing for NCJT and Single TRP CSI, according to various aspects of this disclosure. Device 705 may be an example of some aspects of device 605 or UE 115 as described herein. Device 705 may include a receiver 710, a transmitter 715, and a communications manager 720. Device 705 may also include a processor. Each of these components may communicate with each other (e.g., via one or more buses).

[0161] Receiver 710 may provide units for receiving information, such as packets, user data, control information, or any combination thereof associated with various information channels (e.g., control channels, data channels, and information channels related to details of the payload and sequencing of NCJT and single TRP CSI uplink control information). The UE is sent a configuration for measuring channel state information reference signals used for a first channel state information report, a second channel state information report, and a third channel state information report. The first channel state information report includes a first single transmission assumption associated with the first channel measurement resource, the second channel state information report includes a second single transmission assumption associated with the second channel measurement resource, and the third channel state information report includes a joint transmission assumption associated with both the third channel measurement resource and the fourth channel measurement resource. The UE receives uplink control information including a first channel state information report, a second channel state information report, and a third channel state information report, ordered based on the association between the corresponding channel state information and the single transmission or joint transmission assumption.

24. The method according to claim 23, wherein, Receiving the uplink control information further includes: The first channel status information report and the second channel status information report are received in the first part of the uplink control information, or the third channel status information report is received in the first part of the uplink control information.

25. The method of claim 24, further comprising: The first channel state information report and the second channel state information report are received in an order at least partially based on the corresponding channel state information reference signal resource indicator values, wherein the channel state information report corresponding to the lowest channel state information reference signal resource indicator value is first in the order.

26. The method of claim 24, further comprising: The first channel state information report and the second channel state information report are received in order at least in part based on the corresponding channel measurement resource groups for the channel state information report, wherein the channel state information report associated with the first channel measurement resource group is first in the order.

27. The method of claim 24, further comprising: The first channel state information report and the second channel state information report are received in order at least partially based on the corresponding channel state information reference signal resource ID values, wherein the channel state information report corresponding to the lowest channel state information reference signal resource ID value is first in the order.

28. The method of claim 23, further comprising: The channel state information reports are received in order, firstly based on the corresponding transmission assumptions in the uplink control information, and secondly based on the alternating subbands of the channel state information reports.

29. An apparatus for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE), comprising: processor; Memory coupled to the processor; as well as Instructions, which are stored in the memory and can be executed by the processor, to cause the device to perform the method according to any one of claims 1 to 17.
