Electrolyte for realizing reversible electrochromism of iodine, preparation method and application thereof

Abstract

The application provides an electrolyte for realizing reversible electrochromism of iodine as well as a preparation method and application thereof. The preparation method comprises the following steps: adding zinc ion salt and iodine ion salt into deionized water to prepare a water-in-salt electrolyte of iodine ions; and the sum of the mass of the zinc ion salt and the mass of the iodine ion salt is greater than the mass of the water. The electrochromic device prepared by using the water-in-salt electrolyte of iodine ions relies on the oxidation and reduction of the iodine ions in the electrolyte to realize coloring and fading, does not need an electrochromic material, and does not need to prepare an electrochromic layer, so that the preparation process is simplified. The iodine-based electrochromic device has good color neutrality and cycle stability, has a high modulation rate of 76% at 560 nm, and can still maintain a modulation rate retention rate of 91.3% after 2000 cycles.
