Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] This invention relates to a product dispenser, comprising: (A) a reservoir for a product having a cap fastening mechanism; (B) a cap having the following (B-1) to (B-3): (B-1) a first assembly having: a housing for a sealing element; a chamber volume control mechanism; and a button configured to dispense product through a lower end orifice of a pipette when the button is actuated; (B-2) a second assembly having: a pipette having an upper end orifice and a lower end orifice, and being rigidly connected to and in fluid communication with the chamber; a sealing element configured to seal relative to the housing and slide between a high position and a low position within the housing; and a corresponding fastening mechanism for the cap fastening mechanism of the reservoir; (B-3) a chamber configured to, relative to the first assembly... The volume is changed by the movement of the second component and the movement of the button, wherein when the cap is in the closed position, the sealing element is in a higher position relative to the housing, wherein the movement of the cap in the direction of opening the product dispenser causes the housing to move upward relative to the sealing element via the chamber volume control mechanism, such that the sealing element slides from a higher position to a lower position in the housing and the volume of the chamber increases, wherein this increase in the volume of the chamber causes the product to be drawn into the pipette, wherein when the sealing element reaches the lower position in the housing, further movement of the cap in the opening direction causes the corresponding fastening mechanism of the cap to disengage from the cap fastening mechanism of the reservoir, and wherein when the button is actuated, the volume of the chamber decreases, thereby dispensing the product from the pipette. Background Technology
[0002] A dispenser is known that includes a reservoir and a pipette fixed to a cap having a press button for dispensing product. A helical spring or a resilient deformable diaphragm allows product to be drawn into the pipette. However, depending on the dispenser structure and / or the strength of product aspiration and dispensing, the amount of product dispensed in such dispensers can easily vary. Therefore, there is a need for a viscous product dispenser with improved dispensing accuracy.
[0003] Alternatively, dispensers for automatically filling pipettes with products have been proposed. For example, Chanel's U.S. Patent Application Publication 2015144663A discloses a dispenser for viscous products, which includes: a container for the product, a sealing cap designed to screw onto the container, a pipette, and a piston capable of drawing the product into the pipette. The dispenser is arranged such that when the cap is screwed onto the container, unscrewing the cap itself in the opening direction of the dispenser causes the piston to move, thereby generating suction.
[0004] However, the inventors of this invention have discovered a need for a dispenser structure different from the dispenser structure disclosed in the aforementioned Chanel U.S. patent publication, for use in at least one of the following:
[0005] Distribute a larger dose in each stroke; and
[0006] By reducing the number of parts used in the structure, the dispenser can provide improved stability in terms of sealing function and / or piston movement.
[0007] To prevent piston movement failure due to creep / fatigue, it is also necessary to provide dispensers that do not use plastic springs or bellows. Considering the ease of recycling the plastic materials used in other parts of the dispenser, dispensers without any metal parts such as metal coil springs may also be desirable. This allows for material selection that permits the recycling of dispensers according to a single SPI category, where each of these components is selected from a single category of recyclable materials as defined by the Plastics Industry Association.
[0008] Therefore, a distributor that meets at least one of the above requirements is needed. Summary of the Invention
[0009] This invention relates to a product dispenser, comprising:
[0010] (A) A storage container for products, the storage container having a lid fastening mechanism.
[0011] (B) Has a lid with the following (B-1) to (B-3):
[0012] (B-1) A first component, the first component having:
[0013] Housing for sealing elements;
[0014] Chamber volume control mechanism; and
[0015] A button configured to dispense product through the lower end orifice of a pipette when the button is actuated;
[0016] (B-2) A second component, the second component having:
[0017] A pipette having an upper end hole and a lower end hole, and being rigidly connected to and in fluid communication with a chamber;
[0018] A sealing element configured to seal relative to the housing and slide between a high position and a low position within the housing;
[0019] The corresponding fastening mechanism for the lid fastening mechanism of the reservoir;
[0020] (B-3) A chamber configured to change its volume according to the movement of the first component relative to the second component and the movement of the button;
[0021] When the cover is in the closed position, the sealing element is positioned at a higher position relative to the housing.
[0022] The movement of the cap in the direction of opening the product dispenser causes the housing to move upward relative to the sealing element via the chamber volume control mechanism, such that the sealing element slides from a higher position to a lower position within the housing and the volume of the chamber increases, wherein this increase in chamber volume causes the product to be drawn into the pipette.
[0023] When the sealing element reaches the lower position within the housing, further movement of the cover in the opening direction causes the corresponding fastening mechanism of the cover to disengage from the cover fastening mechanism of the reservoir.
[0024] When the button is actuated, the volume of the chamber decreases, thereby dispensing the product from the pipette.
[0025] This invention provides at least one of the following:
[0026] Improved allocation accuracy;
[0027] A larger dose is distributed in each stroke;
[0028] Improved stability in the following aspects: sealing function; and / or piston movement, due to the reduced number of parts used in the structure;
[0029] To prevent piston movement failure due to creep / fatigue, plastic springs or bellows are not used;
[0030] It is easy to recycle because it does not use metal coil springs and is made from materials that can enter a single recycling stream with a single category of materials, as defined by the Plastics Industry Association. Attached Figure Description

[0056] Distributor
[0057] This invention relates to a product dispenser (1), which includes:
[0058] (A) A storage container (2) for the product, the storage container having a lid fastening mechanism (3a),
[0059] (B) A cover (4) having the following (B-1) to (B-3):
[0060] (B-1) First component (5), the first component having:
[0061] Housing (6) for sealing element (11);
[0062] Chamber volume control mechanism (7a); and
[0063] Button (8), which is configured to dispense product through the lower end hole of pipette (10) when button (8) is actuated;
[0064] (B-2) Second component (9), which has:
[0065] A pipette (10) having an upper end hole and a lower end hole, and being rigidly connected to and in fluid communication with a chamber (12);
[0066] A sealing element (11) configured to seal relative to the housing (6) and slide between a high position and a low position in the housing (6); a corresponding fastening mechanism (3b) of the cover fastening mechanism of the reservoir;
[0067] (B-3) Chamber (12) which is configured to change its volume according to the movement of the first component (5) relative to the second component (9) and the movement of the button (8);
[0068] When the cover (4) is in the closed position, the sealing element (11) is located at a higher position relative to the housing (6).
[0069] The movement of the cap (4) in the direction of opening the product dispenser causes the housing (6) to move upward relative to the sealing element (11) via the chamber volume control mechanism (7a), causing the sealing element (11) to slide from a higher position to a lower position within the housing (6) and increasing the volume of the chamber (12), wherein this increase in chamber volume causes the product to be drawn into the pipette (10).
[0070] When the sealing element (11) reaches the lower position in the housing (6), further movement of the cover (4) in the opening direction causes the corresponding fastening mechanism (3b) of the cover to disengage from the cover fastening mechanism (3a) of the reservoir (2).
[0071] Furthermore, when the button (8) is actuated, the volume of the chamber (12) decreases, thereby dispensing the product from the pipette (10).
[0072] Preferably, when the housing (6) in the first assembly (5) moves upward relative to the sealing element (11) in the second assembly (9), the second assembly (9) has no vertical displacement relative to the reservoir. This ensures that the position of the pipette (10) relative to the bottle does not change during product aspiration, so that the pipette (10) always aspirates the product in alignment with the lower end hole of the pipette, which is positioned at the minimum distance from the inner bottom surface of the bottle, i.e., at the optimal position, and there is no relative movement during product loading. This prevents any air bubbles from entering and also ensures that the pipette (10) is properly filled when the user picks up the cap and dispenses.
[0073] Some of the components, mechanisms, features, and elements described above and below may be integrated into a single unit.
[0074] Cover fastening mechanism
[0075] The reservoir (2) has a cover fastening mechanism (3a), and the cover (4) has a corresponding fastening mechanism (3b) configured to engage with the cover fastening mechanism on the reservoir. The cover fastening mechanism and the corresponding fastening mechanism can be anything, such as threaded and bayonet connectors, and are preferably threaded, particularly to prevent leakage and / or falling off of the cover from the reservoir during transport. The cover fastening mechanism (3a) at the reservoir (2) engages with the corresponding fastening mechanism (3b) at the cover (4) in the closed and loaded positions, and disengages in the open position.
[0076] Preferably, the second component (9) further includes a cap insert (15). The cap insert (15) may have a corresponding fastening mechanism (3b). The corresponding fastening mechanism may be a threaded connection. The cap insert (15) may also include a gasket (16) to seal against the reservoir in the closed position. The cap insert may have a platform with a central hollow section to allow a pipette (10) to pass through, enabling fluid communication between the internal volume (18) and the chamber (12) of the reservoir. The cap insert platform and the outer wall of the pipette may be mechanically biased by an annular snap-fit to ensure that both components are subject to (vertical) axial restraint.
[0077] sealing elements
[0078] Preferably, the sealing element (11) is a piston. The piston may include a hollow section through which a pipette (10) passes, thus enabling fluid communication between the internal volume (18) of the reservoir and the chamber (12). The piston and the outer wall of the pipette may be mechanically biased by an annular snap-fit to ensure that both components are subject to (vertical) axial restraint. The piston may include one or more O-rings or sealing flanges that contact the housing to provide a sliding seal with the product and low sliding force as the product enters the chamber. The piston and cap insert may be integrally formed.
[0079] Chamber volume control mechanism
[0080] The first component (5) has a chamber volume control mechanism (7a). In this invention, preferably, the cover (4) also includes an outer cover (13), and the corresponding chamber volume control mechanism (7b) is preferably included in the outer cover (13) or the second component (9). This mechanism controls the relative movement of the first component and the second component (5, 9), and more specifically, during the dose loading phase, i.e., when the volume of the chamber (12) changes, controls the relative movement of the housing (6) and the sealing element (11).
[0081] The chamber volume control mechanism (7a) and the corresponding mechanism (7b) can be any mechanism. Preferably, the corresponding mechanism (7b) is a rotating sleeve or cylinder with a track, and the chamber volume control mechanism (7a) is a driven member engaged with the track. It is also preferred that the track has a lower end and an upper end.
[0082] Locking feature
[0083] In this invention, when the sealing element (11) reaches the lower position in the housing (6), the first component and the second component (5, 9) are mechanically biased such that the first component and the second component (5, 9) move together as the cover (4) moves further in the opening direction.
[0084] This configuration can be any configuration, and is preferably a locking feature (14a). For example, the first component (5), preferably the housing (6), has a locking feature (14a). A corresponding locking feature (14b) may be included in the second component (9), preferably in the cover insert (15). In one embodiment of various embodiments, for example, the second component (9), preferably the cover insert (15), has one or more cams in its outer wall, and the housing (6) has one or more driven balls engaging the cams, the cams including locking grooves, such that movement of the cover (4) in the opening direction causes the driven ball, as the locking feature (14a), to engage the locking groove, as the corresponding locking feature (14b).
[0085] Button
[0086] The button material is preferably inert, compatible with the product formulation, and has low moisture transmittance (MVTR) to minimize moisture loss from the product and extend its service life.
[0087] Preferably, the button is made of a compliant material that can easily deform when pressed and has sufficient resilience to return to its original position. Preferably, the button is made of an elastic material such that pressing the button temporarily reduces the volume of the chamber, thereby dispensing product from the pipette, and that after pressing is stopped, the button and the chamber return to their original shape / position.
[0088] Preferably, the button can be made of NBR, SBR, EPDM or TPE. More preferably, the button can be made of an elastomer material compatible with PP recycled flow, such as Milastomer (W600NS) commercialized by Mitsui Chemicals.
[0089] The button may have a valve that releases air when the piston moves from a lower position in the housing to a higher position.
[0090] chamber
[0091] The chamber (12) is a space that can be formed by the button (8), the housing (6), and the sealing element (11), and may or may not have an upper end hole for the pipette (10).
[0092] pipette
[0093] The pipette (10) has an elongated body with a tubular shape to store the liquid to be dispensed, and a lower end orifice to draw up the product during loading and to release the liquid during button (8) activation. This lower end is preferably tapered to form a narrowing in diameter within the segment, which allows the liquid to be retained in the pipette, particularly when the pipette leaves the reservoir. The lower end of the pipette can be bent to improve product aspiration and release. The pipette (10) also has an upper end orifice leading to the chamber (12).
[0094] Materials and materials that do not contain helical springs or bellows
[0095] Preferably, all materials used in the dispenser are recyclable plastics and / or compatible with plastic recycling streams.
[0096] In a preferred embodiment, the volume change of the chamber occurs without a helical spring or bellows. More preferably, the dispenser of the present invention does not contain a helical spring or bellows. This simplifies the mechanism housed in the cap, reduces the number of parts, lowers the manufacturing cost of the dispenser, and simplifies its assembly. Furthermore, this design makes the cap easy to recycle, particularly allowing for mechanical recycling. Metal helical springs typically included in dispensers are generally considered incompatible with mechanical recycling processes. Plastic helical springs and bellows may allow for designs compatible with mechanical recycling. However, it has been found that plastic helical springs and bellows can lead to dosage inconsistencies because creep and fatigue inevitably occur during both storage and cyclic loading during use.
[0097] Adhesive products
[0098] This invention relates to a dispenser for viscous products such as gels, lotions, serums, or fragrances, particularly suitable for the field of beauty and personal care products, such as skin and hair care. For example, the viscosity of the viscous product is between 5,000 centipoise and 35,000 centipoise, preferably between 10,000 centipoise and 20,000 centipoise (viscosity measured by means of a Brookfield LVT viscometer equipped with a rotor and rotating at three revolutions per minute).
[0099] Example
[0100] First Implementation Plan
[0101] Figures 1 to 8 An embodiment of the dispenser (1) of the present invention is shown (hereinafter referred to as "first embodiment"). In this and other embodiments, the dispenser and most of its components have an overall shape that is symmetrical about the axis of the dispenser, but in other embodiments not shown herein, some components such as the cover, bottle and / or pipette may not be symmetrical.
[0102] The product dispenser (1) of the first embodiment includes:
[0103] (A) A storage container (2) for the product, the storage container having a lid fastening mechanism (3a),
[0104] (B) A cover (4) having the following (B-1) to (B-3):
[0105] (B-1) First component (5), the first component having:
[0106] Housing (6) for sealing element (11);
[0107] Chamber volume control mechanism (7a); and
[0108] Button (8), which is configured to dispense product through the lower end hole of pipette (10) when the button is actuated;
[0109] (B-2) Second component (9), which has:
[0110] A pipette (10) having an upper end hole and a lower end hole, and being rigidly connected to and in fluid communication with a chamber (12);
[0111] A sealing element (11) is configured to seal relative to the housing (6) and slide between a high position and a low position within the housing (6);
[0112] The corresponding fastening mechanism (3b) of the lid fastening mechanism of the reservoir;
[0113] (B-3) Chamber (12) which is configured to change its volume according to the movement of the first component (5) relative to the second component (9) and the movement of the button (8);
[0114] (B-4) Outer cover (13) having a corresponding chamber volume control mechanism (7b), which in the first embodiment is a rotating sleeve having one or more tracks, and wherein the chamber volume control mechanism (7a) is one or more followers engaging with each corresponding track.
[0115] like Figure 1 and Figure 3 As shown, when the cover (4) is in the closed position, the sealing element (11) is located at a higher position relative to the housing (6).
[0116] like Figure 4 and Figure 7 As shown, the movement of the cover (4) in the direction of opening the product dispenser (in this first embodiment, the rotation of the outer cover (13)) causes the housing (6) to move upward relative to the sealing element (11) via the chamber volume control mechanism (7a), such that the sealing element (11) slides from a higher position to a lower position within the housing (6) and the volume of the chamber (12) increases, wherein this increase in chamber volume causes product to be drawn into the pipette (10). When the housing (6) in the first assembly (5) moves upward relative to the sealing element (11) in the second assembly (9), the second assembly (9) has no vertical displacement relative to the reservoir.
[0117] like Figure 5 and Figure 8As shown, when the sealing element (11) reaches the lower position in the housing (6), the first component and the second component (5, 9) are mechanically biased such that the first component and the second component (5, 9) move together as the cover (4) moves further in the opening direction, which in this first embodiment is a further rotation of the outer cover (13).
[0118] like Figure 5 and Figure 8 As shown, further movement of the cover (4) in the opening direction causes the corresponding fastening mechanism (3b) of the cover to disengage from the cover fastening mechanism (3a) of the reservoir.
[0119] When button (8) is actuated, the volume of chamber (12) decreases, thereby dispensing the product from pipette (10).
[0120] In this embodiment, the second component (9) further includes a cap insert (15) having a corresponding cap fastening mechanism (3b), wherein such corresponding cap fastening mechanism is a threaded connection. The cap insert (15) includes a gasket (16) to seal onto the reservoir (2) in the cap-closed position. The cap insert (15) includes a central hollow section to allow a pipette (10) to pass through, such that the pipette (10) is in fluid communication between the reservoir's internal volume (18) and the chamber (12).
[0121] In this embodiment, the outer wall of the cover insert (15) includes a corresponding locking feature (14b), and the housing (6) includes a locking feature (14a). The corresponding locking feature (14b) may be one or more slots. The locking feature (14a) may be one or more ribs or keys constructed between the inner and outer walls of the housing. The locking feature (14a) allows the first component (5) to move vertically relative to the second component (9) during loading. Once the follower, which serves as the chamber volume control mechanism (7a), has reached the end position in the corresponding track of the chamber volume control mechanism (7b) (at the end of loading), the locking feature (14a) and the corresponding locking feature (14b) ensure that the first and second components (5, 9) are mechanically biased such that further rotation of the outer cover (13) relative to the reservoir (2) causes the corresponding cover fastening mechanism (3b) to disengage from the cover fastening mechanism (3a) of the reservoir (2).
[0122] Figure 9 A dispenser (1) with an alternative structure in the lid-closed position according to a first embodiment of the invention is shown.
[0123] Second Implementation Plan
[0124] Figures 10 to 17An embodiment of the dispenser (1) of the present invention is shown (hereinafter referred to as "second embodiment").
[0125] In this second embodiment, the cover fastening mechanism (3a) and the corresponding fastening mechanism (3b) are threaded parts.
[0126] In this second embodiment, the corresponding chamber volume control mechanism (7b) is a ratchet in the second component (9), particularly the cover insert (15), and the chamber volume control mechanism (7a) is one or more pawls that engage with the ratchet.
[0127] like Figure 13 and Figure 16 As shown, the movement of the cover (4) in the direction of opening the product dispenser (in this second embodiment, the upward pull of the outer cover (13)) causes the housing (6) to move upward relative to the sealing element (11) via the chamber volume control mechanism (7a), such that the sealing element (11) slides from a higher position to a lower position within the housing (6) and the volume of the chamber (12) increases, wherein this increase in chamber volume causes product to be drawn into the pipette (10). When the housing (6) in the first assembly (5) moves upward relative to the sealing element (11) in the second assembly (9), the second assembly (9) has no vertical displacement relative to the reservoir.
[0128] like Figure 14 and Figure 17 As shown, when the sealing element (11) reaches the lower position in the housing (6), the first and second components (5, 9) are mechanically biased such that the first and second components (5, 9) move together. The chamber volume control mechanism (7a) and the corresponding chamber volume control mechanism (7b) have locking features (14a) and corresponding locking features (14b), which facilitates the movement of the first and second components (5, 9) together during further movement of the cover (4) in the opening direction when the sealing element (11) reaches the lower position in the housing (6), which in this second embodiment is the rotation of the outer cover (13). In this second embodiment, the corresponding locking feature (14b) is a flange at the end of the ratchet, and the chamber volume control mechanism (7a), which is one or more pawls, also serves as the locking feature (14a).
[0129] Third Implementation Plan
[0130] Figures 18 to 25 An embodiment of the dispenser (1) of the present invention is shown (hereinafter referred to as "third embodiment").
[0131] In this third embodiment, the cover fastening mechanism (3a) is a bayonet cam, and the corresponding fastening mechanism (3b) is a protrusion that engages with the cam.
[0132] The cover (4) also has an outer cover (13) having a corresponding chamber volume control mechanism (7b). In this third embodiment, the corresponding chamber volume control mechanism (7b) is a rotating sleeve having one or more tracks, and the chamber volume control mechanism (7a) is one or more followers engaging with each track.
[0133] like Figure 21 and Figure 24 As shown, the movement of the cover (4) in the direction of opening the product dispenser (or, in this third embodiment, the rotation of the outer cover (13)) causes the housing (6) to move upward relative to the sealing element (11) via the chamber volume control mechanism (7a), such that the sealing element (11) slides from a higher position to a lower position within the housing (6) and the volume of the chamber (12) increases, wherein this increase in chamber volume causes product to be drawn into the pipette (10). When the housing (6) in the third assembly moves upward relative to the sealing element (11) in the second assembly (9), the second assembly (9) has no vertical displacement relative to the reservoir.
[0134] like Figure 22 and Figure 25 As shown, when the sealing element (11) reaches the lower position in the housing (6), the first component and the second component (5, 9) are mechanically biased so that the first component and the second component (5, 9) move together.
[0135] In this embodiment, the outer wall of the cover insert (15) includes a corresponding locking feature (14b), and the housing (6) includes a locking feature (14a). The corresponding locking feature (14b) may be one or more slots. The locking feature 14a may be one or more ribs or keys constructed between the inner and outer walls of the housing.
[0136] In this embodiment, the reservoir (2) includes a neck insert; wherein the neck insert includes one or more wiping surfaces that contact the pipette (10) to remove excess product from the surface; and wherein the insert also includes a mechanism for engaging with the second component (9). The neck insert mechanism is made of one or more ribs.
[0137] In this embodiment, the second component (9) includes a stopper (17); wherein the stopper (17) is hollow, allowing the pipette (10) to be in fluid connection with the chamber (12); and wherein the stopper (17) includes a mechanism for engaging a neck insert, and wherein the mechanism is made of one or more ribs, allowing the stopper (17) and the neck insert to move vertically but not rotate relative to each other. In this embodiment, the stopper (17) includes one or more grooves, and wherein the housing (6) includes one or more ribs that are vertically movable but not rotatable relative to the stopper grooves.
[0138] Fourth Implementation Plan
[0139] Figures 26 to 33 An embodiment of the distributor (1) of the present invention is shown (hereinafter referred to as "fourth embodiment").
[0140] In this embodiment, the corresponding chamber volume control mechanism (7b) is the cam path in the second component (9), particularly in the sealing element (11), and the chamber volume control mechanism (7a) is a bead that engages with the cam path.
[0141] like Figure 29 and Figure 32 As shown, the movement of the cover (4) in the direction of opening the product dispenser (in this fourth embodiment, the upward pull of the outer cover (13)) causes the housing (6) to move upward relative to the sealing element (11) via the chamber volume control mechanism (7a), such that the sealing element (11) slides from a higher position to a lower position within the housing (6) and the volume of the chamber (12) increases, wherein this increase in chamber volume causes product to be drawn into the pipette (10). When the housing (6) in the first assembly (5) moves upward relative to the sealing element (11) in the second assembly (9), the second assembly (9) has no vertical displacement relative to the reservoir.
[0142] like Figure 30 and Figure 33As shown, when the sealing element (11) reaches the lower position in the housing (6), the first and second components (5, 9) are mechanically biased such that they move together. The chamber volume control mechanism (7a) and the corresponding mechanism (7b) have locking features (14a) and corresponding locking features (14b), which facilitates the movement of the first and second components (5, 9) together during further movement of the cover (4) in the opening direction when the sealing element (11) reaches the lower position in the housing (6), which in this fourth embodiment is the rotation of the outer cover (13). In this fourth embodiment, the locking feature (14a) is the same as the chamber volume control mechanism (7a) as a bead, and the corresponding locking feature (14b) is a locking groove at the end of the cam path.
